Yes yes yes!!! I'd been craving Gus's famous fried chicken (from Memphis) for a while! When my friend suggested Charlie's I had my doubts. Boy oh boy am I glad we went!! Chicken was perfection! The perfect amount of batter, chicken was so tender and juicy! I'm not a huge fan of gravy so getting it on the side was perfect for me. My mom got the bourbon maple salmon and the woman ate the whole thing!! She's a leftovers lover, so her finishing her plate is very unlike her!! My friend go the best dish, in my opinion. He got the walleye and fries!! It's HUGE, delicious and fresh!! The tartar sauce is also a hit, something I find is always a hit or miss at restaurants!! We were celebrating a birthday so got the peach cobbler. So yummy!! The only thing I'd change is instead of whipped cream serve with ice cream!! 10/10 would recommend!! What an amazing experience at Charlie's! We were excited to try out this bourbon bar. It came highly recommended. First off, I love Milford'. Charlie's on Main is quite popular. We walked in and the bourbon wall was impressive! We enjoyed quite a few pours with great recommendations from the bartenders. I ordered the Rib Eye with Collard Greens and my Bf got the hot chicken sandwich. We both loved the good! The deviled eggs were also fantastic! If you're here for bourbon and libations, you're in luck! Huge selection and they also infuse bourbon into some of their dishes. The service was good, but the food took forever which happens, but she never returned to just give us an update. The food was not as expected. I had a skillet with greens, grits and pork belly, but there was none of the latter. A separate plate with a small amount of pork belly cubes was brought out. The dish was much better then My husband got jambalaya, but there was no chicken in it although the menu stated there was. There was just a little a little bit of rice. Flavor was good otherwise. Very artsy southern bar & grill! We tried the pulled pork sandwich and smothered fried chicken. Both were delicious! The potatoes were a little cold with the chicken, but they still tasted good! We shared the peach cobbler for dessert! It could've had a little more crust, yet still tasty. The food came out quickly, and we thought the service was a tad slow. Popped in here for a quick drink and appetizer and the place was pretty hopping. It has a pretty good vibe with nice decor too given it more of a classy bar feel. It has plenty of televisions if you're looking to watch a game and a nice outdoor deck area to enjoy (the weather was a bit too cold for that when we went). The service was good, the hostess was able to seat us pretty quickly and the server was pretty friendly and looked after our table well. As for the food I can't speak too much about that we just had some fries which were seasoned well and tasty but a little over cooked. The drinks we ordered though were pretty good especially their craft cocktails. I did notice that the place offers meat substitute (Beyond Meat patties) if you want to do a vegetarian or vegan burger, and they are willing to go the extra mile to make some of their other options vegan when we asked. Next time I am in Milford I will definitely try this place again to explore their food a little more. read more

My Wife and I just finished up a week-long "staycation" and we visited Charlie's twice. In the last year I've grown to appreciate whiskey - and Charlie's delivers on that. Their selection is enormous. Over 400 pours I think? Bourbon, rye, scotch, Japanese, Canadian, and Irish whiskeys. And the pricing is extremely fair. Their "flight of the week" is tremendous value. During my recent visit it was a mix of Green River and Bardstown whiskeys. I also enjoyed a pour of Russell's Reserve 15. In addition to the whiskey, the food was incredible. The southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes, just wow. The walleye breading is incredible. The catfish bites are the best I've ever had. Their kitchen has yet to let me down. Our servers have always been excellent. They are prompt and knowledgeable, and check in just often enough. Lastly, I'm not a huge live music guy, so I really appreciate the patio in the summer. It makes for a great evening in downtown Milford. I'm looking forward to becoming a regular patron here. read more

I usually score based on the 5 criteria to coincide with the five stars, but this one negative aspect affected the other to bring it down to three stars. I'll jump right in: service. Our waitress, let's call her Z, was great and nice and prompt......until after we got our food (which was excellent as always). She ghosted us completely. Never came to see how our food was, if we needed another drink or refills. Just gone. I knew where she was though. She was outside talking with someone that wasn't work related. I had to flag down a different waitress for boxes and the bill and I even told her our waitress disappeared on us. So needless to say, that experience brought the vibe down. Very unprofessional. I'll be honest I hesitated writing this review cause I don't like getting people in trouble...however, this is how they learn. So Charlies is perfect (well, it can be hard to get in because it is perfect and everyone wants to eat there). We usually sit at the bar if there is room, and love the comfy bar stools and the great service we get. The vibe of the place is so well thought out with great attention to detail. We've tried several things on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My favs are the jambalaya, the Bayou Hunters Chicken, and the Pork Chop. My hubby raves about their ribs and swears they have the best Sangria in town. They also have live music, which is a major bonus. I highly recommend. read more

Had dinner with an old friend. We both really loved this place. The menu was fantastic. We opted for deviled eggs as an appetizer. Some of the best I've eaten at a restaurant. It's hard to mess them up, both most restaurants seem to find a way to these were served on pickle chips with bacon jam. My friend had the chicken and waffles. She really enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and tender. It was a filling portion. I had the fillet and veggies. It was cooked perfectly. Just left Charlie's Still after an awesome late lunch with the Hubbs. We've been here a couple times before, and noticed there were many new additions to the menu, so we came out for another visit. The first time we stopped here we realized that it was very much a Bourbon/Whiskey-themed Southern-style place... The menu featured a lot of dishes we weren't necessarily familiar with-- shrimp & grits, fried green tomatoes, jambalaya, etc. There are TONS of new additions to the menu since we last visited, and everything looks incredible. From fresh seafood, BBQ, sandwiches, and steaks.... to bountiful salads, mac & cheese dishes, and decadent dessert choices, there is truly something for everyone here! I'm a salad girl, so I ordered the Harvest Salad, which was delectable-- I cleaned my plate! The roasted Michigan beets with goat cheese and Traverse City cherries... uggghhhhh! (lol) SO GOOD! My husband ordered a bowl of chili (which is enormous, by the way!) and the Southwestern Salad with grilled chicken. He loved both, as the chili tasted like it had been simmering all day and the salad was fresh with different levels of flavor throughout. All in all we had a great meal at the perfect time today. Coming in on a Friday afternoon before the dinner crowd rushes in is the best time to eat! The vibe here is cool, dark, historic....and it honestly doesn't feel like you're in downtown Milford. After a bike ride around Kensington on a beautiful spring day, we wanted a nice lunch at someplace outside in Milford. We came across Charlies and it met all of our needs. We were seated at a great table right along Main Street in a shade covered part of the outdoor seating area - it was perfect! The menu had a lot of great choices. We started with te Deviled Eggs. We always love these wherever we go, but these had the added benefit of caramelized onions with bacon jam - yum! We all decided to get salads - my wife and I had the Roasted Apple Salad and my daughter got the Watermelon and Feta Salad. The were all very fresh with a big portion size (almost too big) and tasted great. We also shared a side of fries and a side of mac and cheese and those were also very good. Everyone loved it!! Can you guys open up a restaurant in Grandville please? We were visiting family on the east side this weekend and we went there for dinner. We all loved our meals. And I definitely want to go back and will lobby to go there when we visit family again lol. I got the chicken and waffles and it was the best I ever had. Waffle was crispy, chicken was tender and crispy, and their maple bourbon syrup was tasty (has bourbon flavor but not overpowering). We came for an exclusive event - Bourbon Women of Michigan, which was a 4 course meal with Bourbon tasting. So happy my wife signed us up for this... First course was a poached pear salad - amazing taste with the pecans, Michigan cherries and goat cheese. Paired with a Sonoma Chardonnay. Second course was the roasted butternut squash soup - super yummy with candied pecan, brown sugar and whisky cream. Paired with Slane Irish Whisky. First time here! There's a small parking lot to the left of the restaurant and a bigger lot in the back. There's also street parking. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away outside. We ordered a burger and the walleye. Our food took awhile for it come out. My friend liked her burger and the walleye was good but fried two minutes too long. Same with the fries - a little dry. I would go back to try another entree though. read more
