I've been a fan of Westville for 20+ years and never had an issue till this visit. Came for brunch on sunday with. Place was busy and lively. The good - food is always great. So many options to choose from. Had the egg scramble, and for something simple it was delicious. The turkey sausage is a must. They were out of hashbrowns at 1pm so french fries were the alternate option. Needs work - the service was very spotty. When reading back the order the server had my order wrong which was an early indication of things to come. We had to constantly keep asking for things, and sometimes they never came. -Creamer for coffee/tea - never came. -Extra plates to share apps - never came. -Syrup for pancakes - eventually came. -I ordered 7 grain toast, but was brought a baguette. Pointed this out to a bus boy and it was never corrected. -Server never came to ask how things were. If someone who works there reads this, please order skim milk, unsweetened almond milk, or unsweetened oat milk. You should have at least one of those options. read more

Westville is a long time favorite of mine, and it's been many years since I've been. I was stoked to come for brunch and bring my family recently. The kids menu was robust. They offer crayons and a drawing page. Market vegetables for me is always the way to go. They still make 'em like they used to! I love the yuca fries, mushrooms, beets, curried cauliflower. My partner liked his breakfast burrito. The price for a dirty chai was kind of nuts ($10!?). Always bright, and such nice people work here. I was nostalgic! read more

Nice spot for a lunch or even brunch! They have a long menu with something for everyone. Prices are a little high but I honestly couldn't event finish my salad because it was so big. The chicken cutlet was a great add to the kale salad, it was super crispy and flavorful. We got our food so quickly after ordering, but it did take a while to get our check. Honestly I was worried about needing a reservation on a weekend but there were plenty of tables open, except the outside seating fills up fast on a nice day. My friend and I came across this place on a Sunday evening. The hostess seated us right away. We ordered the Birria empanadas for starters - so good! For our entrees, I ordered the market plate: salmon with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, and my friend ordered the market plate: salmon teriyaki with Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. We weren't too pleased with the salmon (tasted a little too fishy for our liking and was very bland); however, our veggies were pretty good. I don't think I'd order the salmon again - I'd try another type of protein. Overall, this place was good. The staff were very attentive and quick, which we appreciated. Treat yourself to some good old fashion, market vegetables, and a well-prepared piece of protein. I also indulged in a pozole soup because I've never had it before. It surpassed my expectations, especially with the crispy bits on top. Last, but not least if you have a sweet tooth, the carrot cake was recommended. Consistently delicious delivery. I dream of the kale salad. It's gigantic. I'll add an extra protein, sometimes salmon, sometimes avocado, or marinated tofu. In the winter, it's the turkey chili! I caught up with my brother here for Saturday brunch. The menu was amazing and provided savory, sweet, healthy, and rich options. I got the avocado toast, which I thought was delicious. This place was a God send! We had just come off of the Liberty Cruise at Pier 40, the kids were hungry, everyone needed to use the bathroom, it was hot, and we needed to find a place to stop fast! But I'd rather be eating elsewhere so I understand. If you need to go somewhere with a picky or basic eater this is a great option. What happened??? I have been ordering Westville well over a decade. Probably close to 2 decades - 10th St first and when they closed we switched to Hudson. I lovED their turkey burgers so much - I found a really good copy cat recipe and have made them at home for years. My last few orders were steak sandwiches so it has been probably 6 months since I got the turkey burger. It is NOTHING like it was. I may as well get a trader joes frozen one next time I crave one because that's how bad it was. It has totally changed. First off it was dry as a bone but that wasn't the most disappointing thing. It had no garlic Westville turkey burgers were known for. It had no seasoning at all. Honestly I only ate half bc it was that bad. What also was bothersome was the fries had an old oil taste to it. I always thought they were air fried because they were never soggy. Even after delivery. These were not only soggy but a bad aftertaste, I don't get how things could change so much. Even the tomato was barely orange. I don't know if management changed and they are doing things on the cheap but I feel like I lost an old friend tonight. I am reasonable enough to know, things change with new staff because cooking is art but this was so vastly different - I guess I am going to have to make my own from now on. The recipe is pretty easily found if anyone else is as disappointed with the change as me. What a bummer. read more

Simple meals with fresh, well-cooked veggies which is hard to find fault in I have consistently gotten a few things here--the tofu which is really good but comes in a couple of big chunks. I also have gotten their sweet potato fries which are seasoned or crispy enough for me but I know that this is a preference. The stars for me are their Brussels sprout (side or part or market plate) and kale salad entree. This place is consistent, but with rotating specials which keeps it interesting. They have a good delivery/pickup process which is fast, communicative, well-packaged, and sealed drinks/condiments and in the EV location their own bikers. read more

Came here on a rainy afternoon. The staff was very accommodating and allowed us to bring both our small dogs into the restaurant. We had carry on bags for both and placed them on the seat next to us. We ordered the BBQ Pork Benedict, Westville Chorizo Fajitas, a cup of hot chocolate and a side order of hash browns. The Hot Chocolate was creamy and came with art. The Benedict was delicious and the Portuguese bread was sweet. The chorizo fajitas was too filling. The food presentation was very lacking but then again this isn't a high-end brunch place. Westville is one of my favorite restaurants in New York, but I always check the menu online beforehand to see if it's worth going. Their weekly specials can be pretty phenomenal, like this greek bowl with shrimp, but I sadly find most of their regular menu pretty lackluster. There are a few gems, though, like the salmon and yuca fries (highly recommend!). I do love that I can usually walk into this location on most days with no wait, and the staff is always so lovely!
