Horrible... This place is ridiculous. They charge you to pay the bill, list amount you can tip is 18% and they want you to round it up to the next available.

Westville is a long time favorite of mine, and it's been many years since I've been. I was stoked to come for brunch and bring my family recently. The kids menu was robust. They offer crayons and a drawing page. Market vegetables for me is always the way to go. They still make 'em like they used to! I love the yuca fries, mushrooms, beets, curried cauliflower. My partner liked his breakfast burrito. The price for a dirty chai was kind of nuts ($10!?). Always bright, and such nice people work here. I was nostalgic!

Nice spot for a lunch or even brunch! They have a long menu with something for everyone. Prices are a little high but I honestly couldn't event finish my salad because it was so big. The chicken cutlet was a great add to the kale salad, it was super crispy and flavorful. We got our food so quickly after ordering, but it did take a while to get our check. Honestly I was worried about needing a reservation on a weekend but there were plenty of tables open, except the outside seating fills up fast on a nice day. Overall I would definitely recommend this spot!

My friend and I came across this place on a Sunday evening. The hostess seated us right away. We ordered the Birria empanadas for starters - so good! For our entrees, I ordered the market plate: salmon with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, and my friend ordered the market plate: salmon teriyaki with Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. We weren't too pleased with the salmon (tasted a little too fishy for our liking and was very bland); however, our veggies were pretty good. I don't think I'd order the salmon again - I'd try another type of protein. Overall, this place was good. The staff were very attentive and quick, which we appreciated. I'd give this place another shot and order a different dish.

Treat yourself to some good old fashion, market vegetables, and a well-prepared piece of protein. I also indulged in a pozole soup because I've never had it before. It surpassed my expectations, especially with the crispy bits on top. Last, but not least if you have a sweet tooth, the carrot cake was recommended. While I have never had carrot cake in the past, this would be the place to try it in. I felt safe, seen, and heard here, thanks for the wonderful staff!

Had dinner here a week ago and was amazed at how great the food is. The food is prepared fresh, I love the crispy fish sandwich on French bread, my absolute favorite. The truffle fries are really good, my friend swears by the salmon, and the Brussel sprouts. The staff are very friendly, and the service is excellent. They have several locations. This location is perfect in every way. Thank you for an awesome dinner.

I caught up with my brother here for Saturday brunch. The menu was amazing and provided savory, sweet, healthy, and rich options. I got the avocado toast, which I thought was delicious. Other dishes that I heard were amazing were the breakfast burrito and tater tots. The interior is decorated well and is spacious, which is perfect for groups or for a more intimate date. The service was also so great! As we wanted to stay longer to catch up, the servers didn't rush us out at all and we were able to eat and talk at a comfortable pace.

Seriously, there has to be something wrong with you. My sister is one of the pickiest eaters that I know. Always has been and always will be. She just started eating raw onions several years ago and still doesn't like cooked onions. Even she was able to find something at Jacob's Pickles and it delicious. With regards to the rest of what we ordered, we ordered the Hog In A Blanket as our appetizer and both my daughter and sister ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad. I ordered the Turkey Leg braised in white wine and served with whipped potatoes, Rosemary Biscuit Stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy. The Hogs in a Blanket were their version of Pigs In a Blanket. The major difference being that Jacob's Pickles are served in puff pastry and with their own house made pickles. Yummy! The salmon salad was served with baby greens, sliced oranges, red onion, cilantro and a light orange vinaigrette. Everything and I do mean everything was delicious. It was a gut-buster of a meal and everything was perfectly prepared. The salmon was expertly cooked and the turkey literally fell away from the bone and tendons of the turkey leg. Just plain old good food in an attractive homey setting wins out all of the time! It's a must go!

We ordered the fried pickles appetizer, which were pretty good. I ordered the smash burgers and the ratio of bun to meat was laughable. The bun was 3" thick and all I tasted was bread. I have no idea how the meat was because I was eating mostly bun. The fries were nothing special, just whatever they order in frozen. My friend ordered the Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich. It came with burned bacon and over-fried green tomatoes that I tried, but were so chewy they were inedible. She said the chicken was also over-fried and dry. She said the cole slaw was spicy and flavorful and so moist that it made the dry chicken edible. Our third friend ordered a salad (I forget which - some kind of wedge) and she said it was pretty OK.

It featured a crispy, sugar-glazed exterior and a soft, chewy interior, topped with truffle cheese and served with a truffle butter dip; the pairing was superb, and it tasted great both on its own and with the dip. For the main course, I ordered the miso-glazed black cod. The flavor was flawless, and while the portion was small (which was acceptable), the pool of broth accompanying it was completely unnecessary; it was inedibly salty, so what was the point of serving it? After finishing the fish, I was left with a plate full of broth, rendering the plate unusable. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

The King Crab Rangoon (8/10) was packed with crab, almost too much for my taste, but the sweet chili and hot mustard sauces balanced it out nicely. The Espresso Martini (6/10) was a pretty standard espresso martini. The Long Island Cold Brew (3/10) tasted like cold brew mixed with vodka, which just wasn't for me. Service was fine overall (7/10). We got the Miso Carbonara Tagliatelle and the Lamb Ragu Orecchiette. Miso carbonara was rich and scrumptious, umami bomb. I'm normally a cream sauce girlie over red, but the lamb ragu stole the show. Super tender chunks of lamb and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Incredible pastas! The mains were okay, pork chop was a bit too salty and the fried catfish was really underwhelming. Our server (I think Brian?) was super attentive and charismatic, and walked us through the menu right away. The server had the whole floor and the place is VERY tiny, but I never felt like the service was fake. What really shines is the food - just WOW! We were a table of three so we each did the Three-Course meal and shared: Biscuits to start: AMAZING! First Course: Burrata, Pimento Cheese, and Collard Greens Second Course: Ravioli, Gnocchi, and Tagliatelle. Special shoutout to the Reuben-flavored ravioli and Chicken & Dumpling flavored Gnocchi Third Course: Nashville Fried Chicken, and Catfish Everything tasted so so so good and original - I've quite literally never had anything like any of the pastas we tried. The one tiny critique I have is that I don't think a slice of white bread under the fried chicken was necessary. I know it's tradition but I didn't need it with all of the other amazing amazing food we had. All of the desserts sounded absolutely amazing but unfortunately we were all so full and had a show to run to, but I will 100% be back hopefully multiple times and will know for the next time to save some room. Damn. Almost perfect…read more Stopped by with my daughter this morning. I wanted smothered chicken but it wasn't available. No problem. My hongry self had a Plan B, fried chicken. So, I ordered the fried chicken, greens, yams, extra side of 'tato salad, AND a sweet potato pie. The girl working there was great! Had a great time talking to her and was happy to tip. Ordering food or at a sit-down restaurant, of course I'ma tip. When it's just ordering at a counter... Sometimes, yes, but most of the time, nah. Then again, it depends on the service. But, this sister was great, helpful and an absolute pleasure to talk to. Two meals came to about $60 and I tipped $10. We got our orders to go cos my child had to catch a train to Connecticut. Weather was gorgeous so I walked around for a bit. Was thisclose to walking to Junior's for a b/w cookie but didn't because I'd gotten dessert with my order, the sweet potato pie. Or so I thought. Didn't even think to check my bag cos the sister even repeated our orders as she gave us our bags. I get home, started emptying my bag... No pie. I reached out to my daughter n' said, I hope you have two pies (she also ordered one), cos there's no pie in my bag! Nope, she only got one pie. Maaaan the disappointment that I am feeling...! So, the food... Fried chicken pieces were big and delicious. Greens... I'd had an acting job that was catered by Melba's, so I'd had and loved their greens before and it's the reason I wanted to pay them a visit. I LOVE Melba's greens!! And, today, they did not disappoint! I don't know how they season them. but *chef's kiss* Yams are good. Not what I'm used to. For years, I've been the designated maker of the candied yams for holiday meals. I use a very simple recipe. Keyshawn's Mom's Candied Yams. Flawless. Always come out delicious. These yams are...different. Delicious. Just...different. Large blocks of yams. 'Tato salad is good, too. Not my mama's which is my standard. But, still delicious. I will definitely go back. I'll just make sure everything I pay for is in the bag. So, yeah, this woulda/coulda/damn sure shoulda easily have been a 5-star visit. But the missing pie... DEDUCTION!!

Melba's must have received the memo: return the chicken sandwich to the original size. The chicken…read morebreast now out sizes the bun once again and everyone should be happy. I like it with everything: cole slaw and pickles, with hot sauce and chipotle mayo. For just under ten bucks, the chicken sandwich is the best thing you can buy in the basement of Grand Central. It's almost a complete meal in a sandwich and I often buy two at a time. 4.2 stars!
