Miss Nellie's is a very relaxed casual atmosphere. Dark and very low lighting. Customer service is attentive as I was greeted by the hostess upon entry in a bar parlor style seating area. I did not lie in wait for a table. I was promptly seated at a high table in the dark. I did not need a booth. I was willing to be seated at the bar counter. Facilities are relatively clean. Double Smash burger $26.00 Features two thin, crispy beef patties immersed in iceberg, pickles, caramelized onions, American cheese, special sauce with French fries The burger was average as I did engulf within minutes to satisfy my hunger pangs. There were minimal lettuce and seemingly no pickles. Intimate and casual atmosphere does not make the optimal lighting for visual assessment. My male server stated "it is really not two patties, but it is one large patty separated into two." Truth: it is two thin beef patties. It was good, but not juicy filled with intense flavor for seasoning. The French fries were somewhat burnt because it waa hard. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of high intensity extortionate 25%, 22% and 20% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. One of my disappointing eats on this trip. I made a reservation on a Sunday night and it was not busy at all. A reservation is not required, but recommended for some days. I ordered the Coconut Crusted Halinut and the rest of the group ordered the Lemon Ricotta Tortellini and the Chicken Parm Meatballs. We also ordered a Nellie's Chopped salad and Heirloom Carrots to share. Salad tasted strange, carrots were not soft. Group liked their entrees at least. Halibut was good, but it was definitely lacking something. Waiter and front table were sweet. Since we were celebrating, they were nice enough to give dessert on the house and gift a celebratory card for the one celebrating. We had some time to kill before a jazz show at Birdland, so decided to check out Miss Nellie's. From the street, the space looked dark and moody with a speakeasy vibe. Stepping in, this swanky atmosphere was confirmed. Miss Nellie's is quite spacious with a front and back bar. I enjoyed a birthday pour of Johnnie Walker Green, served over a large rock that was stamped and embossed with the venue's logo. So cool! My wife enjoyed an "Above the Clouds" craft cocktail - with a butterfly pea-infused gin. The presentation was elevated by an artistic bubble applied over the cocktail that dissipated into vapor with the touch of a finger. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable, and outgoing! They made sure that I was well taken care of for my birthday. It was such a great experience that we returned for another round after the jazz show. We were in town visiting family and going to a show so we wanted to go somewhere near the show. We found this place online and it looked pretty nice. We ordered a few drinks (Old fashioned, and Martini), both drinks were made perfect and was tasty. We ordered the smoked French dip sandwich to share along with Broccolini. The sandwich was a little smoky, the meat was tender, and the bread was soft and held together perfectly. The sauce on it was ok. The dip sauce which was more like a gravy sauce was just okay. It thickened up quickly as it got cold so you had to eat fast. I'm a fan of the original dip sauce with that said it was still a good sandwich. The broccolini was cooked perfect. For dessert we ordered the Sticky Toffee Sundae. It was definitely different but good. I could've used some sauce on it like the normal sticky toffee pudding has but it was delicious. The place was really busy and the service was still good. The place has plenty of seating inside and outside there are a few tables to sit at. We stopped in twice during our recent visit - once for dinner and then for their late night happy hour. I loved the vibe for dinner - very dim, chic, almost like dark cafes in Paris. Came here for brunch with 4 other friends on a Saturday. We were looking for a diner / American restaurant but many other nearby places were packed so we came across this gem. The restaurant was full but it's massive so we were able to get seated immediately. The holiday decoration is on another level. Super cozy and fun and joyful. Started the night with a cocktail from their full menu of drink options. I got the Traveler, which was good but very strong so the fruit flavors were only subtle. The food menu has a more condensed selection, but still a lot of delicious options. I chose the French Dip and loved it! The prime rib slices were extremely tender, with no stingy chewy pieces. On top was gooey cheese perfectly melted into the folds of the meat. All on a fresh sesame seed panini-style bread. On the side was delicious mushroom gravy, as well as dijon mustard and horseradish. The horseradish was way too song for me, but the gravy to dip in was excellent to bring extra flavor to each bite. read more

Miss Nellie's has only been around one year (october is actually the anniversary of the restaurant) but they've already made quite q name for themself in midtown. .I made a weeknight dinner reservation here and i found out when i arrived thst they just debuted their new fall menu. This was good news (mostly) except that many of the items were spicy and I don't do well with spice. They kept a lot of their popular dishes and added some good new ones. I was really surprised how bush it was for a weeknight. It felt like a Saturday evening. Every table was booked. For my meal I had two small plates, the chicken bites and the eggplant chips. I thought the eggplant chips were a little pricy at $16 but it was a very large plate, definitely shareable. These were really disappointing. I've had eggplant chips many times (usually at Greek restaurants) but these were all batter and no eggplant. They were very thin. I would've preferred a thicker cut. It just felt very fried, not particularly greasy but just no veggie taste at all and no substance. The chicken was also very subpar. It had no seasoning at all and the buttermilk aioli on the side wasn't even enough to save it. Fortunately my friend enjoyed her meal. She had the French dip sandwich and I immediately wished I had gotten one of the entree dishes instead. I probably would've given have enjoyed it more. There wasn't too much space on the table for our plates. With such a small plate heavy menu you'd think they'd have larger tables, but it was a real struggle for space. What saves this from being a two star review is the excellent service and the aesthetic ambience. We had a very attentive waitress who did a good job explaining the dishes to us. And the restaurant itself had a great ambience. The theme of the restaurant is travel and the whole restaurant was filled with beautiful antiques. Overall, I don't think I'd be in a rush to return, at least not for the food. I'd be open to trying another dish. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things.. read more

So many antique objects used in this decor that made it feel like you walked back in time for a great meal. The service was very good as well, the servers made sure we had everything we needed and knew the menu well. I ordered their steak fits sandwich with was the perfect savory bite, and their above the cloud cocktail which was well made and perfectly presented! Their bathroom was also beautiful, they have two bars, one main one with is just absolutely gorgeous, and a mallet one up front with seating areas as well. They even have a Miss Nellie's Photo Booth! But I was pleasantly surprised to find it's quite the opposite. The star of the show for me were the bee pollen pancakes, hands down some of the best pancakes I've had in the city. Light, fluffy, and unique enough to make me want to come back again just for those. The restaurant itself is spacious (a rare find in NYC), which made it easy to bring in a stroller without feeling cramped.
