    Smoked Gouda beef empanadas
    Judy F.

1st time, dine-in Staff are polite. Tables are decently spaced out. High ceilings and well ventilated so I didn't leave smelling like I was working in the kitchen. Within an hour, I was able to order and enjoy smoked Gouda beef empanadas and fish sandwich with nicely dressed greens and pickled onion. I brought half the sandwich and an empanada to go, for dinner that night. I'll be back to try the market plate.

Westville is always solid if you're looking for a simple, healthy-ish meal. We visited the Wall Street location for a late lunch, and found it mostly empty. The interior had a casual vibe with plenty of seating and some seasonal decor. For drinks, I ordered the Blueberry Basil Spritz (mocktail), which I really liked! It was light and refreshing, and not terribly overpriced. For food, I chose the Breaded Chicken Cutlet with beets and roasted sweet potatoes. The cutlet itself was just alright, but the veggies were very tasty. The beets went great with the goat cheese and walnuts, and the roasted sweet potatoes were topped with sour cream and scallions. Everything was nicely cooked without being too creative. My partner really enjoyed his Chicken Noodle Soup, as well. Overall, good for lunch!

    Spinach artichoke dip (special)

Westville continues to be a solid brunch spot in FiDi! The breakfast burrito has become one of my go to items, and I most recently tried the spinach artichoke dip (which is a special they currently have). Both very solid! One day I'll come for happy hour/dinner...!!!

Given how simple the concept of this place is, I was genuinely surprised that I did not enjoy my meal here. A friend and I decided to visit for lunch, and were promptly sat down - but I would recommend making a reservation as it does seem to be pretty popular. We both opted for the breaded chicken cutlet. For my sides I picked the brussel sprouts and corn. She picked the roasted carrots and fries. The chicken cutlet was pretty oily and kinda dry. The sauce on the brussel sprouts could have been good, had they not put on so much. I do think it was a little much and I genuinely don't understand why so many restaurants drench brussel sprouts in sauce. They're good, let their flavor shine. The corn was supposed to be flavored like Mexican street corn but that was disappointing. I honestly would've just preferred plain corn at that point. Fries were okay. Carrots were fine, but not flavorful at all. Given the rave recommendations we were given, we were both pretty let down with the subpar experience. Hopefully it goes better for everyone else.

Got salmon teriyaki with cauliflower and broccoli. Pretty good and feels healthy. I liked the flavoring.

Love the food. We stopped by for a business lunch. I had a kale salad plus tofu and avocado. It was very fresh tasty and then added some horseradish ranch. Very good.

Not sure if a lot has changed since I was here 4 months ago or if I was unlucky and got a bad sandwich. Came here for lunch and it was still as busy as always. Very lively and energetic environment. I ordered the LA fish sandwich with a side of arugula salad and boy... was I disappointed. The sandwich immediately fell apart when I tried to eat it, fish was devoid of flavor, batter didn't stay crisp and tartar sauce was visible but definitely could not be tasted. Service was still great as per usual Could not have been more disappointed with today's meal but I will give it another try in the future to see if it was a one off experience or if it really has changed...

For a lack of better words - Westville is like a dine-in version of DIG + Sweetgreens + By Chloe (if anyone remembers them!) mixed together. Their menu has the classics of American fare and it fit the bill for what I was looking for - something convenient, casual, and quality I know what to expect in the chain. Service was good. I had a reservation at 11am on a Sunday and the pace picked up closer to 12pm. Still, there was ample seating and no wait at the time. The waiters checked up on us multiple times which I personally don't mind. I had my eyes on the Tater Tot Poutine but opted for the Egg Scramble with sausage, bacon, mushrooms, Portuguese muffin, and fries since I didn't want anything too heavy. I was pleasantly surprised by the huge portions and was definitely full after. Can't believe it was only $13 for all that! If you're looking for something casual, filling, and affordable, I'd recommend Westville as a reliable option. It's not the most aesthetic, Instagram-worthy restaurant, but at least you're not paying a premium.

Kale salad with no pickled onion, sub blue cheese to feta
    Julia J.

I don't even have words to describe my love for Westville!!!! This is hands down my most-ordered restaurant in all of NYC. I get it multiple times per week -- without fail. Everything is incredible here; whether you want something lighter like a salad or more indulgent like a cheeseburger, whether it's dinner or brunch... Westville has it ALL!!!! I also appreciate that they have rotating specials because it keeps the menu new and exciting (but with the peace of mind knowing that whatever you try is going to still be consistent and delicious). I usually get it delivered/takeout, but I've also dined it many times. I'm a big modifications girly, and they've always modified as requested! Salad-wise, my go-to used to be the kale salad with no pickled onions and sub the blue cheese to feta. I'd also add croutons sometimes (they're great). Lately I've been getting the Greek salad (with no olives and sub the dressing to lemon olive oil because I don't like dill). Their grilled chicken is simple yet soo delicious; I always add a side of that, too. The steak and salmon are also great. I'll often get the protein + 2 sides plates. Their vegetables are some of the best vegetables I've ever had haha; I usually get the mushrooms or the soy glazed green beans. The mashed potatoes are also yummy. THE FRIES!!!! OMG, THE FRIES!!! Some of my favorite fries in the city. So crispy and literally addicting!!! I get the plain ones; I actually like them more than the truffle ones. Their cheeseburger is also one of my favorites in the city (I get it with cheddar)! Thick and juicy with a nice grilled flavor, served on a Portuguese "muffin." Yummmm. Their hot dogs are good, too, if that's your thing (and they even have vegan ones). Brunch is also great! I get it delivered every weekend haha. I like the egg scramble plate or sandwich (I do egg whites with cheddar, scallion, and onion). The breakfast burrito is usually on the specials list, and it's delicious as well (and pro tip you can & should sub the home fries to regular fries). Haven't tried the waffle or challah French toast yet, surprisingly, but have heard good things! The grilled cheese isn't my absolute favorite because it's a little soft for my preference haha (I usually like a crispier grilled cheese). I also don't love the chicken tenders. But, those are my only to lesser-liked items lol. The atmosphere is casual, but you have a waiter/waitress, and there's usually a pretty good crowd (never seen it super empty). Can also be nice to sit outside when the weather is good! I LOVE YOU, Westville!!!!!! Hope the feeling is mutual ;)

    Health Tea
    Jenny H.

Three of my friends & I decided to come here to celebrate Easter after church. Downtown was fairly quiet on a Sunday and we were quickly seated at a table booth. The waitress came quickly to give us water and menu. She also took our order for drinks. The place is simple decorated and with ample space. Since weekends are made for brunches, I ordered the California Benedict. The food came within reasonable time and at our request, ketchup and hot sauce were brought. All the food were smashing and lickin' good. I love the hashbrown base with avocado & corn topped with 2 nicely packed runny eggs as they should be with a Sriracha hollandaise sauce. It doesn't get better than this. My friend ordered the health tea made of ginger, lemon, mint & cinnamon with side of honey. It looked and tasted not only healthy and warm. The service was great as the waitress checked in on us sporadically to set how we are doing and since it was quiet we were able to sit and enjoy the company even after we finish. This may be one of my fav weekend brunch stop when I'm in downtown.

    kale salad
    Jenny Z.

I had low expectations but don't judge a book by its cover! The westville kale salad indeed loves to the hype... something about the way they soak and massage their Kale is quite perfect, better than sweet greens kale for sure. I got the salad and a salmon plate for myself and it was perfect! The salmon was less dry than I expected and tasted really yummy when mixed with the salad. The cauliflower and mushrooms also packed a really nice flavor. Overall, this meal felt really healthy yet satiating, packed with nutrients and flavor. The candied walnuts in the kale salad added the perfect texture and crunch. Would recommend for takeout! Removing a star just because of how expensive it was and how there is no make your own salad option :')

    Smokey Mac & Cheese
    Japonica F.

Westville is a staple for simple and straightforward food. They are usually consistent with their menu items, but this review is specifically for their mac and cheese. I have always loved it, but the past few times I've ordered it it's been subpar. This time it was super greasy and not all that flavorful - I ended up just eating the top layer off (because it has yummy toasted smoked gouda) and leaving the rest because it was tasteless and so so oily. Please bring the good quality, creamy mac back!

Our server (I think Brian?) was super attentive and charismatic, and walked us through the menu right away. The server had the whole floor and the place is VERY tiny, but I never felt like the service was fake. Wine and beer only (to alert my cocktail lovers), but luckily for us we were in the middle of dry January so although I very much appreciate a cocktail it wasn't too much of a problem. What really shines is the food - just WOW! We were a table of three so we each did the Three-Course meal and shared: Biscuits to start: AMAZING! First Course: Burrata, Pimento Cheese, and Collard Greens Second Course: Ravioli, Gnocchi, and Tagliatelle. Special shoutout to the Reuben-flavored ravioli and Chicken & Dumpling flavored Gnocchi Third Course: Nashville Fried Chicken, and Catfish Everything tasted so so so good and original - I've quite literally never had anything like any of the pastas we tried. The one tiny critique I have is that I don't think a slice of white bread under the fried chicken was necessary. I know it's tradition but I didn't need it with all of the other amazing amazing food we had. All of the desserts sounded absolutely amazing but unfortunately we were all so full and had a show to run to, but I will 100% be back hopefully multiple times and will know for the next time to save some room. Overall 10/10. Definitely recommend getting a reservation as the entire space is maybe 15 seats total!

Damn. Almost perfect…read more Stopped by with my daughter this morning. I wanted smothered chicken but it wasn't available. No problem. My hongry self had a Plan B, fried chicken. So, I ordered the fried chicken, greens, yams, extra side of 'tato salad, AND a sweet potato pie. The girl working there was great! Had a great time talking to her and was happy to tip. Ordering food or at a sit-down restaurant, of course I'ma tip. When it's just ordering at a counter... Sometimes, yes, but most of the time, nah. Then again, it depends on the service. But, this sister was great, helpful and an absolute pleasure to talk to. Two meals came to about $60 and I tipped $10. We got our orders to go cos my child had to catch a train to Connecticut. Weather was gorgeous so I walked around for a bit. Was thisclose to walking to Junior's for a b/w cookie but didn't because I'd gotten dessert with my order, the sweet potato pie. Or so I thought. Didn't even think to check my bag cos the sister even repeated our orders as she gave us our bags. I get home, started emptying my bag... No pie. I reached out to my daughter n' said, I hope you have two pies (she also ordered one), cos there's no pie in my bag! Nope, she only got one pie. Maaaan the disappointment that I am feeling...! So, the food... Fried chicken pieces were big and delicious. Greens... I'd had an acting job that was catered by Melba's, so I'd had and loved their greens before and it's the reason I wanted to pay them a visit. I LOVE Melba's greens!! And, today, they did not disappoint! I don't know how they season them. but *chef's kiss* Yams are good. Not what I'm used to. For years, I've been the designated maker of the candied yams for holiday meals. I use a very simple recipe. Keyshawn's Mom's Candied Yams. Flawless. Always come out delicious. These yams are...different. Delicious. Just...different. Large blocks of yams. 'Tato salad is good, too. Not my mama's which is my standard. But, still delicious. I will definitely go back. I'll just make sure everything I pay for is in the bag. So, yeah, this woulda/coulda/damn sure shoulda easily have been a 5-star visit. But the missing pie... DEDUCTION!!

Melba's must have received the memo: return the chicken sandwich to the original size. The chicken…read morebreast now out sizes the bun once again and everyone should be happy. I like it with everything: cole slaw and pickles, with hot sauce and chipotle mayo. For just under ten bucks, the chicken sandwich is the best thing you can buy in the basement of Grand Central. It's almost a complete meal in a sandwich and I often buy two at a time. 4.2 stars!
