I ordered an espresso martini to start and it was strong, smooth, and perfectly made. For my meal, I had the ravioli of the day which happened to be lobster ravioli. Chefs kiss. Every bite was rich, fresh, and full of flavor. Honestly, as I type this review I already want more. The dish was that good. I stayed at the Doubletree next door for a work trip and Antica was right downstairs. I hadn't eaten and was famished. I walked in and was sat down immediately. I can't remember the servers name, but I recall asking where he's from and he said Croatia. He was very hospitable and knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the pasta of the day "a ravioli dish" and it was the best I'd ever had. I went back the next day and had the lobster bisque soup and a cannoli. That complimentary lemoncello shot took me out Ill definitely be back! It wasn't too busy during lunch, but was packed when I walked by during dinner, so I'd recommended a reservation after 5pm. read more

I've stayed in the Financial District several years during work trips out to New York City, but I found out about this restaurant at my latest Hilton Hotel stay at DoubleTree Hilton downtown in the Financial District in April. When I walked inside the restaurant around 5:15 P.M, there was only one other customer inside. The restaurant is beautiful. There is a open bar area, and table seating off to the left as soon as you enter the restaurant. When I sat down, the team members at Antica Ristorante provided the menu and water as well! I only asked for a Sprite as a beverage. Antica Ristorante is a Italian restaurant. There is an all day lunch and dinner menu. There is also a three course pre-fixe lunch menu offered for $45.00 that is available Monday - Friday from 11:30 A.M to 4:00 P.M. The menu has a wide range of offerings from fish, chicken, salad, pasta and so much more! I wasn't that hungry so I only ended up getting an entrée, the Carbonara! The Carbonara include peas, crispy bacon, farm eggs, pecorino cheese with a light cream sauce! While waiting for the pasta, the team member did provide complimentary bread and butter. Both of the breads I had, which was a dinner roll, and another slice of bread, I didn't quite catch the flavors that was offered, but, both were good though! The bread was soft and delicious with the butter! I didn't wait too long for the pasta, approximately 15 minutes! I couldn't believe how fast the entrée was served! The team members at Antica Ristorante also provided complimentary cheese on top of the pasta! This was one of the best Carbonara dishes I've had in a long time. The bacon was super crispy and had large slices of bacon that was cut up too! The cream sauce was a thick consistency and blended well with the pasta! The peas were scrumptious! I really enjoyed this dish! Since I live in Vegas, I won't be able to come to Antica Ristorante too often. If I do get to stop by again, the next dish I do want to try out is their Cacio e Pepe! The staff was incredibly professional it might as all been connected to a Ritz and the food was amazing. Once you're inside, it's an elevated experience. Located in the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Financial District, this is a hotel-attached Italian restaurant. It seems small, but I only needed a spot at the bar, as I was staying at the hotel for work. The place had good Italian restaurant vibes, and had that white tablecloth feel, but without seeming pretentious. Sitting at the bar I was served a nice glass of wine, while I perused the menu with the help of the small, battery powered LED lights they have to add to the decor and ambiance. I decided on the risotto with wild mushrooms, as it was a cold night out (and I was near the front door, which lacked the typical tapestry curtains or double entrance like so many places in the northeast have. The service was prompt and attentive, without being overbearing. The risotto was nothing short of amazing. I am normally skeptical of hotel restaurants - they can be hit or miss in my experience. Located on Stone St. near Broad St. in the Financial District, lower Manhattan adjacent to the Doubletree hotel. We went here for my birthday dinner (no reservations required). It was convenient as its entrance was within our hotel so we had to try it. The restaurant is small but has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a wine bar. I had their 'Fettuccine alla Sorrentino' and my husband had their 'Carbonara'. For dessert, we had a 'Sorbet' and 'Cannoli'. Food tasted fresh and was really good. However, I felt all was a bit overpriced for what it was. We had wine and were asked if we wanted 'still' or 'sparkling' water, so we opted for 'still'. To my surprise, they added a $9 cost to my bill for the water (that I didn't ask for). I had never been charged for water no matter how boujee the restaurant is. Another thing I did not like was the forced, automatic 20% tip on our bill for a party of 2, especially because I don't know how to feel about the service. It felt a bit awkward with the man who served us. Had no personality and seemed offended with our menu questions, as if we're supposed to know. A classic upscale Italian restaurant with bottles of wine at the table settings to set the stage for an intimate and elegant dining experience. The food was slightly pricey but really worth the money. The calamari was lightly breaded and cooked to perfection served with a mildly sweet marinara sauce. The carpaccio was presented so well you almost don't want to eat it. The vogole was seasoned with olive oil and garlic and not too over powering. The most surprising part to me was the espresso martini. Hands down the best one I have had. Made with strong, delicious real espresso, and not too sweet. Presented with a thick froth and 3 coffee beans. The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. Update: This restaurant refunded the 50 $ tip that I added. That was an upstanding thing to do. I have altered my rating, and also want to explain that unless I find something exceptionally wrong, I'll always give 5 stars. My opinion on the food/service is just that, an opinion. No need to rank anything. So, here is my issue with this place. They automatically charge a 20% gratuity. But still include a line for tip. I didn't actually realize they included a tip automatically. It would have been nice had someone double checked as the total in tips for our table amount to 100 dollars on a 200 dollar check (give or take.) Now, I have worked as a server and That was honestly enough to give this place one star. What it tells me is that the owner pays the staff so little they take what they can, or they are just shitty people in general. Having said that, for the entire two hours we were there, no one else came in which should be a red flag to anyone. The food is fine (I'd bet it is NOT actually "homemade" pasta like they claim (at least for my dish, which was the fettuccini alla Sorrentino). As well, their whole feel is very antiquated. No one wants to be charged exorbitant prices to be given one sad roll and a cold sliver of butter. Seriously, for what became a 300 dollar check for three people they could at least give us more bread. Again, I can't say the food was bad here. But, just an antiquated restaurant and no integrity or honesty. On a plus, I was impressed that they were playing contemporary Italian music (Eros Ramazzotti). read more

I think this is a well meaning establishment. Service was good - friendly and available. But the prices for the quality of food didn't match up. I ordered a $19 Napa Cabernet that tasted like a house wine - they didn't bring the bottle to the table to pour, although it was a generous pour. I also had the $32 rigatoni bolognese - I don't think the pasta was homemade ( not that they advertise that but for the price..) and the sauce was ok, a bit salty without the deep savoriness you expect from a good bolognese. So the menu stated that a 20% service charge would be added for parties of 3 or more. I had fewer than that in my party and was still charged the automatic 20%. Then the bill comes with suggestions for what 18, 20 and 22% translates to - that is misleading if you're not paying attention. read more

This one is partly on me as I had seen negative reviews online before going, but we had some people in our group who really wanted to so I did not insist on switching. That being said, our bill was $530 pre tax and tip for 6 people and we all agreed it was one of the worst Italian restaurants we'd ever been to. No freshly grated parm, they had the artificial stuff. They had a huge pepper shaker that we think was just for show because it dispensed no pepper for anyone who had it held over their food. No olive oil for the bread either. In my opinion, these are necessary staples for an Italian restaurant. Then on to the dishes. The veal in the third picture (no clue what it's called because the waiter didn't even know, he kept saying it was the veal parm with arugula on top and it was definitely not veal parm) was the only decent entree. Everything else had no spice/garlic/flavor whatsoever :( The servers were nice and the wine was good, but I just am not okay paying over $100 a person for meh food. We were staying at the hotel above it for 9 days and our Amex card got us free food each day. But I literally couldn't be the one ordering because the man was so mean to me and we wanted to sit and eat in the restaurant but he totally treated us like garbage. ***3 1/2 stars*** My expectations were pretty tempered here going in, and they didn't change much by the end. Antica is less than a block from where I work and was next on my Friday lunch list based on nothing more than geographical proximity. It's a pretty non-descript white tablecloth Italian restaurant within a mid-range hotel that has two or three outdoor tables that have caught my eye during lunchtime constitutionals. It's pretty telling that when I announced I was coming here, only one co-worker had even heard of it despite, again, this being literally 500 feet or so from our office. It wasn't bad by any means but it just didn't make much of an impression (which some would argue is even worse). I came here yesterday around 1PM. The outdoor seating was full, but I was immediately seated inside. Interestingly, they have one of the most inconspicuous bars I've ever seen - it was in my eyeline throughout the meal and yet I didn't even register it until halfway through. I imagine most of their bar action comes from table service wine requests, but still. I'd definitely make it more noticeable if possible. The interior is honestly pretty generic and humdrum. Again, it's a slightly upscale restaurant in a hotel and looks every bit the part. There's no indication that the designers went out of their way to make this a unique environment, and there's a compelling argument that they don't really need to - there's a built-in customer base sleeping overnight in your building. It had some upbeat Italian music playing, and a European family seated nearby was happily bopping along. And I think they absolutely get points for hospitality - I came in basically wearing gym clothes and they didn't bat an eye. The service was excellent. It helped that I had picked out my entrée two days before so I was immediately ready to order, but I literally had my food presented to me about 10 minutes after I entered the restaurant. For higher end dine-in food, that's as good as it gets. I have yet to have even just normal, good service in this neighborhood when I'm dining by myself - it's delightful how the Financial District treats its solo eaters. They also had a really nice bread/butter presentation - one of their waitstaff came by with a variety of bread rolls/slices in a basket for selection, and a plate with a thin, long butter square was put on the table. A little too cold in my opinion (it was a bit of a struggle to butter the bread), but a nice touch overall. I debated between two pasta dishes but ultimately went with the gnocchi with pesto dish. It was decent, but not out-of-this-world amazing. The texture was very good - fully cooked, not too soft, etc. (I would have been shocked though if any Italian place messed up the cooking/prep for pasta) but the pesto taste just didn't do it for me, palate-wise. I could easily see someone else enjoying this much more but I just wasn't as into it - I found the pesto a little too overwhelming, even taking into consideration that it should be close to the star of the show here. It was a solid portion but it was a bit pricey, even given the neighborhood. The menu doesn't actually have prices on it (kind of a red flag in my view), and this entrée with tax came to $29. I'm sure you're partially paying for the hotel vibe and a waitstaff that is very on their game - one of them had this alpine horn cheese grater thing that showed up less than five seconds after my pasta was on the table - but I think it should have been closer to $25. There were solid intangibles here, but you're in a neighborhood and city that arguably has the best Italian options outside of Italy - I'd try someplace else next time. You could do worse, but you could definitely do better. read more

It has been a long time since I have visited Manhattan,. One thing about Italian restaurants in Manhattan if you are a bad restaurant, you won't last. This restaurant is the complete opposite of a bad restaurant. I literally can find no fault with the place in any way. Dinner started with a delightful bottle of red recommended by the chef. Also prosciutto with melon, as well as beef carpaccio over served as appetizers. They were both out of this world. The prosciutto was a quality I'm not accustomed to -- I say it is extremely high quality! The melon was fresh, and as far as the beef carpaccio -- it is quite possibly the best I've ever had. Moving on to salads and soup. My dining partner had the pasta e fagioli. He said it was served super hot and had a ton of flavor. I had a radicchio salad, which was delicious. Dinner was veal piccata which was delicately spiced not overly buttery, and the veal was pounded to perfection. There was also a swordfish special which was olives, capers, and some other items which were delicious. Service is exemplary. we bot had decaf espresso which were perfectly executed. Dinner for two can be upwards of $300 so bear that in mind. If you are looking for a value conscious meal this is not your place. That's OK because this is Manhattan! Crispy, cheesy, and perfectly saucy, like the kind of dish that makes you reconsider your relationship with meat. The food overall was very decent--nothing revolutionary, but definitely satisfying. Who would've thought to eat at someone else's hotel? We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. After making the trek over, we were surprised to see that it was attached to a hotel but really wanted Italian so we went for it. The food was actually great! The bread was nice before the meal and the carbonara was super. The only downsides for me were the lack of non-alcoholic drink options (craft sodas or flavored lemonades would be nice, or even better, an Italian soda?) and the length of service. It took quite awhile to order, receive the food, and get the check when it was time to leave. I can't emphasize enough how delicious the food was, and how timely and professional the service and staff were. My client had some very specific requests for his meal and Giorgio, the gentleman who runs the restaurant went above and beyond to meet my client's needs. Before coming, I read the mixed reviews but erred on the side of optimism since it's a convenient location. Unfortunately, I should've been my normal pessimistic self. Service was slow and inattentive until we complained (there were only five tables seated). We sat for over five minutes before even getting menus. Also, when my mother asked for the wine list, the Maitre'd said "in a minute" and then gave it to my father. When my mother then ordered the wine, the maitre'd then gave it to my dad to taste before I suggested he have my mom taste (the one who ordered the wine). The menus were printed crooked, and had such small type they were almost impossible to read. The Caesar salad made "table side", was not made table side. Pastas were average, cappuccinos were tasty, and the tartufo had the consistency of something that had been defrosted and then refrozen. I hesitated with writing this review, but with the whopping price of $300, it was a disappointment.
