The pub is quant and cozy, the cocktails strong, and the staff fun & attentive. I never had an empty glass lol. Def a charming local spot, that I would certainly visit if i was in the area. Enjoyed some bang bang shrimp, pizzas, and cheese & veggie platters. Only had 1 cocktail & then switched to wine, but they had tons of options. We went on a Wednesday night and had reservations at 5. They opened promptly at 5 and my daughter-in-law was sipping an espresso martini in just a few minutes. Service was QUICK and friendly. The food was good. I loved the shrimp diavolo and bang bang shrimp. The two Cajun chicken Alfredo's weren't very spicy, but still were good. I came expecting chicken wings and a beer (which, doubtless would have been been good) but finished having enjoyed a wonderful martini, rib eye und fixings and a fabulous piece of home made raspberry cream cake. The best part? Perfectly charming and attentive service. On her first night here, my server was smart, attentive, accurate and charming. (If I'm honest, I think she should marry my son, but perhaps I'm over my skis on that one.) Menu is full of interesting and accessible items, all well priced and I suspect well prepared, as well. We had good expectations for this place. We were staying overnight in the area and our hotel host recommended The Whale's Tooth. First impressions were good - great location, busy dining room, nice but energetic atmosphere. We pretty much got the last table for two. Dinner was a mixed result. My Cajun chicken Alfredo was great. Well prepared (not overcooked pasta), tender well seasoned chicken and excellent Alfredo sauce. Very good garlic bread on the side. My wife's fish and chips were another story. Call that Batter, fish and chips. The batter was very thick - at least a 1/4" and the inside was still gooey. The tartar sauce was strangely sweet and the fries were almost mediocre. The coleslaw was the best thing on the plate. $28 for that? Uugh! We got to the restaurant at 7:00 PM and by the time we left at about 8:00, the place was emptying out with nobody arriving. They appear to only get one turn on the tables - even on a Saturday night. My wife and I ate here while on our honeymoon recently and don't understand why it's not one of the more higher rated places in the area. The location was pretty, the service was friendly and which and food was fantastic for the price in a tourist town. I recommend getting the aged steak like I did. Ate here in June of 2022. Stayed in Lincolnville across the street from the Whales tooth Pub so eating here was convenient. Had hoped for a better experience / more vegetarian food options, otherwise I'd have eaten here more given the convenience. Too cold to sit outside so we sat at a booth inside the first room you walk into. Great view of Penobscot bay. Atmosphere in that room is ok... not as much " pub " character as if you went further into the restaurant. Service was great. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. She was from Belfast, new the area and engaged in conversation and recommendations of things to do in the area. Super helpful. We started with the beef nachos minus the beef ( as we are vegetarians) They we're good but the restaurant is very stingy with the salsa and sour cream. ( expensive charge for extra) and there was no reduction in the $ 19 cost given we didn't have the beef. We then each had the Caprese panini sandwich. Our only other entree option as vegetarians was Falafel. ( Note to restaurant owners: Vegetarians are getting tired of Falafel being the vegetarian option) The sandwich was served with grill marks on the bread but the mozzarella was ice cold and not melted at all. I sent it back to get heated up. It was marginally better when returned. The fries that came with it stole the show... they were excellent!! Drink options were fun and we each ordered a few... not impressed. They were pricey and weak. I did reach out to the owners via email prior to coming to the restaurant and asked if they had other vegetarian options on the menu...( I've seen pictures of a good looking Mac and cheese on the reviews) but sadly they omitted there aren't any at this time and they were not open to my suggestions of adding a pasta dish or to have a veggie burger or an impossible (vegan) beef option .... With there burger selection. It's unfortunate because the location and convenience to Lincolnville beach is great but unless the menu changes I won't return. read more

I hate to review so poorly, because I really want this restaurant to make it. It has a perfect place to be a real gem. They have no food that would really attract you to them . No oysters, lobsters or clams. What's up? Boring menu and not cooked well. The hamburger looks great, but I go for the higher quality food that they don't have. We had been eating lobster rolls all week and wanted something different. This place looked unique so we passed two lobster pounds right next door to give it a try. The menu posted in the reviews is about 90% different from what was served last week. They were out of the pork is so bucco and nothing else look unique so we decided to go with apps. My French onion soup was okay but watery and had more melted cheese stuck to the cup than was on the bread topper. My wife's haddock chowder was strangely missing the chunks of fish we had come to expect. The nachos were a giant glob of congealed cheese over at points way overly salted chips. I've had better at the ball park. The fried calimari was fried okay but I had some pieces that were so tough they could t be chewed and while I love the inclusion of peppers on this dish, deep frying them makes them the same fried texture and you lose the color. Finally I had the mussels which were okay but the sauce which is usually the highlight of a mussel dish was lackluster with no real flavor. Also that bowl came with several flower and greens for garnish that serves no purpose. I never give bad reviews but this was the low point of eating out over 7 days. Someone has lost their passion in the kitchen. You get one star because the server was nice. read more

What a gem of a restaurant! You cannot go wrong with a deck overlooking the bay, yet when you pair that with excellent service and delicious (and locally sourced) food, it's a home run! Had a fabulous time at the Whale's Tooth tonight. I had heard it had changed hands and was 'different'. The fish and chips was good, as before. The new arrangement in the bar area looks like it will be a really nice "Snug" in the winter so that is also good. The best part of this evening was the new bar tender, Jacques! He is a breath of fresh air on our rather stuffy New England coast! Jacques makes a really good Painkiller and has a personality that will have us returning over and over! Horrible.. overpriced and food bad. They are trying to be a high end restaurant but do not have the cook staff to support that effort. Waitress was very slow and didn't come back to check on meal. Also did not have 3 of the 6 entrees on menu available because of a "busy" weekend. Even a burger not cooked as ordered and unable to eat. Slow service (with reservations) they had to throw a table for 8 together when we arrived.. bread was good, that is all I will give them. Avoid!! read more

I used to come to the WTP quite often for a lunch lunch easily accessible via ferry from Islesboro. I hadn't been since November of 2020 and had really been looking forward to returning. Sadly, I wish I had just stayed on the island for lunch. The new owners have really taken a hatchet to the menu. Some of the staples like the nachos are gone, as well as the BLT and about 15 other items. SUPER disappointing, to say the least, especially since these are not menu items that require much kitchen time when being prepared. Lunch was on the Friday of the Memorial Day weekend and two of the items on the noticeably bare menu were not available. Honestly, if you're not prepared for the first big weekend of the summer, that speaks volumes. We all had sandwiches, although my choice for lunch was not available. The duck reuben sounded good, unfortunately it should have been described as a sauerkraut sandwich that happened to have a thin sliver of duck breast. I had the haddock sandwich. No more description there. A smallish piece of haddock on a roll with some picked onions (that actually were a really nice touch), lastly my friend had the grilled cheese, which was pretty good, but it got to the table kind of cold, so it wasn't a gooey experience when you lifted half the sandwich. Three utterly disappointing sandwiches (served with cold fries). In addition we had two bowls of seafood chowder which was just okay. For drinks we had a bloody Mary (pretty good) a margarita (half the glass it used to be) and two Beefeater and tonics (again, 1/2 the glass it used to be). The service was good, our waitress was very cheery and helpful, but even her enthusiasm couldn't save this meal. We REALLY wanted to like the new ownership, but SO many drastic changes left us yearning for the "old" WTP, the one where you got good, hot food, and a drink served in a large glass. The total for our mediocre sandwiches, drink and soup: $127.00 before tip. How could a three sandwich lunch be $150 after tip that is not being served in a Manhattan bistro? Sadly, I think it's the last of the Whale's Tooth for us. I hope you have a better experience, but for us, is a done-deal. read more

Well our waitress was awesome. The rest of it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The Ribeye I had i wouldnt serve to a dog on death row. It was a piece of rubber that I could barely chew. Then the flys that me and my wife spent more time swatting them away from our food. I actually left there more hungry than I was when I got there. You'll love this restaurant! I recommend eating on the patio at sunset. You can also grab some great photos ahead of your dinner with the harbor behind you - the sunset lighting is perfect for this. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was exceptional. There is live music inside on Saturdays if you're looking for more of the "pub" experience. read more

Visited the area from out of town during "off season" and was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! We loved it so much we ate dinner here both days we were in town! The atmosphere was lovely and there was even live music on Saturday night. The menu didn't have a ton of items that we would necessarily choose but my husband and I both absolutely LOVED the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich (we are from the south so a bit of fried chicken snobs + this was superb fried chicken!) and the Shrimp/Sweet Potato/Bacon Chowder! The chowder I felt was very reasonably priced even if the sandwich was a bit pricey. I wish I could've brought some of the chowder home with me it was so delicious! I also enjoyed the style fries they served with the sandwich. The large fireplace is hard to miss and is so nice and cozy! Definitely request a table by the fireplace if you can :) also recommend reservations through Open Table. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Love the live music, the fireplace, I know there would be a wonderful ocean view during the daytime, and I felt the Shrimp/Sweet Potato/Bacon Chowder was not only delicious but also a reasonable price. I wish there was more food variety with some less expensive food options but the service was good and I appreciated them being open even during "off season"! We weren't sure what to expect from the reviews posted in Yelp, but we decided to give it a shot because it's location is so beautiful. Well, the food was great. We had the fish and chips and the halibut was so fresh and flaky and tender that my Mainer husband was even raving about it. We also had the burger which was equally delicious. Our service was excellent and when we arrived, we really appreciated the communication from the host/manager/owner? about backed up kitchen and the waitress communicated this to us as well. Staying down the road and got bar-type seating at 7 PM on a Friday in August. Server was busy but friendly. Food was fine, nothing fancy - we got a caesar salad, burger, fish sandwich. Everything cost a good 50% more than it should be. (Burger was $22 e.g., and one of the cheaper things on the menu.) The food was totally not bad. I had a decent Maine IPA. Good pub food in a charming old post and beam building right on the water. The interior of the whales tooth has character and charm to boot. There is an enormous old fireplace that makes it especially cozy on rainy days and through the winter months. Something interesting is always happening at the 3 or 4 seat bar. The food is by far the least interesting part, but it's decent pub food with some good seafood options. It is not bad at all, it just doesn't have the character of everything else in the place. If I could gie this place less than one star I would,took my daughter and my wife there last night,they seated us at one of the hi tops on the upper deck outside,we were the only ones there at first,5 minutes later the seated 4 people at another hi top and then another couple at another,we were there first and the waitress waited on those two tables and completely ignored us like we wern't even there,after 20 minutes the other two tables got there drinks and appetizers and we got completely ignored we waited another 5 minutes and then got up and left our menus right there and went to another restaurant in Camden,all my years of going to restaurants in the midcoast area we've never been treated like this,we will never go back there,we will never let them waist our time like that again. read more

We have always been fans of the WTP, but sadly it should no longer have "pub" in its name. The appetizers are weird and limited and it no longer has that warm welcoming pub feel to it. We went for an early dinner on the 26th, and though our waitress was excellent and just lovely, the food was not very good. My husband ordered the fish and chips which was half the size it was. I had the chicken salad wrap and it had no taste, even the grapes were bland. We both had fries with our dinner and they were bland and hard, sort of like they were refried. The diet coke tasted weird, and when replaced, it was flat. I understand that food is at an all-time high, but if you are going to charge high prices, make it worth it. We went here on a Saturday eve in July with perfect weather during COVID. The atmosphere and view of coastal Maine is post card worthy. They have maximized their outside space with many tables appropriately distanced and music entertainment. The tables were outfitted with umbrellas and heavy tables cloths and complete with Adirondack chairs you can sit and wait for your table while enjoying a drink with a view. We had house made blueberry lemonade with fresh local blueberries. The menu had a wide array of seafood and pub fare with locally sourced produce. We had salad with grilled chicken and Mac& cheese. Food was delicious and portions were more than generous. My only critique is pub fare prices were a little high. We asked to be seated outside as we were primarily there for the Happy Hour drinks but due to rains earlier, they weren't prepared to seat us outside, which was totally fine. We were than seated in a empty dining hall upon asking to be seated by the window - the hostess got really nasty, we even heard her talk to other servers complaining and making faces about us. We felt very very uncomfortable.
