I called in a takeout order of Well done Beef Pho (№3), Chicken Fried Rice, Potstickers, and veggie egg rolls. Upon arrival, the ambience was warm, clean environment, with delightful smells coming from the kitchen and I walked pass someone's pho bowl and I could smell sriracha they added. The food was well packaged, and nothing leaked out on the drive home. My food was still warm as soon as I put it together to prep dinner. The Well done Beef Pho was delicious, I enjoyed the clear beef broth. It was tasty but the beef was cut a little too thin for me. The beef could easily break up with a fork, it was very thin. The chicken in the fried rice was really dry, that the only thing out of this whole order that wasn't that good to me. Potstickers were gone within an instant of arrival home. Veggie Egg rolls didn't need the sauce that went with it and they were fine alone. I'd have to try out What the Pho again and maybe try the beef meatballs for the next visit. read more

This is my second time dining in and honestly, I love how quiet the restaurant is and how personable the service is! I opted for a vegetarian pho and the potstickers, the pot stickers were great and the pho was alright. My server was very kind and attentive to my needs! The owner Kenny spoke with me and actually apologized when he saw I didn't finish my pho - I was very surprised but it showed he takes pride in the food that he provides! Delicious and delightful service. What The Pho is a fantastic little restaurant. It was incredibly clean and the staff were very friendly. My wife and I had the Tofu Banh Mi, Spring Rolls, and Veggie Pho. Everything was delicious. The Banh Mi was beautifully flavored and is one of the best Banh Mi's I have ever eaten. The spring rolls were a perfect starter to the epic Veggie Pho. It's a giant bowl that's packed with flavor. More than enough for one person and I think they know that because they delivered it with an additional small bowl to share. Look forward to going back and eating at What The Pho again in the future! read more

Currently visiting Indiana and was craving some pho during this random week of rain!! To be honest, I did not have high expectations with the asian cuisine here so I was happy to just find a pho-designated spot rather than a pan-asian fusion eatery. The pho here comes in a single size, the steak isn't super evenly cut but it is thin. They bring the bowls out on a plate to make it easier to move around on your table, which I appreciate! They also accommodated my request for extra white onions. The broth is on the sweeter side, which was great with a generous lime squeeze. I kind of wish there was a bottle of fish sauce on the side so I could add a splash in the broth to up the funk but overall I was super pleased with the meal, especially given my expectations coming in. I'd be curious to try out their other options, such as the rice plates, in addition to their handmade lemon soda. The service here is also super friendly. You can tell they have established relationships with their regulars and seek out new customers to start building a foundation. I really appreciate this! read more

We have been coming here for years and normally just order to go as it is like so close to where we are. They have changed ownership now but they kept the cook so their food is still really good. I use to order a whole fried fish from them with rice but they don't do that anymore because of new ownership and some of the menu have changed. Their best seller is the egg roll (used to be called spring egg roll) is still as good as ever. Got their butter wings which is also enjoyable. Main course were combination rice plate (grilled pork chop with egg) and general Tso chicken. The latter had similar taste with tocino flavored pork which makes it so good. Over all very enjoyable choices. Unfortunately, no outside seating but not really a good place for outside seating here though. read more

Myself and a colleague came to What the Pho for lunch as it's close to our building. Wow! Grab your keys and head there immediately! The dining room was immaculate and we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table as soon as we walked in. The menu is simple which is always a good sign - less options generally indicates freshness and skill and this was no exception. All of our food was fresh, delicious, and excellent value! The lunch special is just $9.99 and the portions are generous. I ordered the number 2 rice noodle combination with chicken, and my colleague chose the pho with rare beef. Everything about our visit was great! Greeted warmly, food came out quickly, and dang, the food was good!! We ordered spring rolls, crab rangoons, beef banh mi, and a beef pho. Little things like the spring roll sauce having peanuts and basil on top made the dishes extra special. Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference. The beef for the banh mi had a great sauce it was tossed in. Bread tasted fresh and warm. Staff were kind and helpful. Space was very clean. I got the Rare Meat and Beef Ball Pho, recommended by my Vietnamese friend who is a big fan of Pho. He said the meatballs reminded him of home, so the authenticity is definitively there! I enjoyed my meal but I've definitely had better. It was extremely quiet when I arrived but as I was waiting for my food, a lot of guests flooded in so they must be pretty popular. For me, I just didn't feel as if the broth was flavorful enough. Also, from the menu, the descriptions of the pho options were not as detailed as they should be. I ordered the Pho Special because I liked the meat options but it did not mention the tripe (which I enjoy) but I can see how that can take others by surprise. The menu is large and they have quite a bit of Chinese dishes to offer. I originally wanted to get a banh mi but he told me they were out...around lunch time. Lucky me. I'm no expert on Vietnamese food but this place is fantastic all around. Service was spot on and food was terrific. You seat yourself here. Shortly after I got a menu and ordered a Thai tea to drink. I've only had them a couple places and this one was tasty. For a appetizer I ordered the goi rolls(cold spring roll). These things are wonderful. I could have eaten a couple orders and just made it my meal but I wanted to finish with pho. Wasn't sure on which so I just went with the pho special. Sliced beef and meatballs. Good choice I must say. Broth was perfect, just the right amount of noodles and meat. And the side of things to add just made it that much better. After writing a stellar review for Pho 54 just a short time ago, it troubles me to have to write one that is quite the opposite. Hold onto your hats boys and girls... here comes my 7th 1 star review of all time. I still really like the food at Pho 54. It's delicious. There's nothing quite like a steaming facial of pho to clear your sinuses and make you feel all warm inside. Having this place only a hop, skip and a jump away from my office was also nice. Speaking of "jump"... Roaches. Yes, roaches. When we sat down there was one on the floor next to the wall and I tried to look past it. After we finished eating and got up, I saw another... and another. I quit looking around for fear of what I would find. I always have thought the public facing dining area at a restaurant was always the cleanest part of a restaurant. I've never really wanted to know what was "behind the curtain" at some establishments, and as I was driving home, I started to wonder what was in the kitchen here. It almost made me ill to speculate. My hope is that Pho 54 will quickly realize that bugs in the dining room is a big no no, and that they will take steps to resolve it immediately, or else they might end up losing more business than just mine. read more

Flavor! Been meaning to try Pho 54 for so long but never stopped. Today I was craving a bowl of soup. Not only did I get soup, but I got special pho. The broth was VERY flavorful and contained 3 types of meat plus rice noodles and green onions. On the side were sprouts, herbs, jalapenos and a lime wedge. Condiments on the table. For some reason I ordered the large ($9.50) and when it came out there is no way I was going to finish it. I did get close to finishing it though. Menu is made up of a large array of Vietnam and Chinese offerings. They offer a number of vegetarian dishes. Lunch specials are $5.50 for entrée, egg roll and soup. Décor is open and minimal with everything on the older side. At lunch there were 5 tables with customers and that kept the woman and man (assume owners) quite busy but food came out on a consistent pace. I will definitely go back. read more
