Unlike a lot of chains, Whataburger locations can vary. So, clearly some Whataburgers are better than others. And right now, this one may be one of the best in the Austin area. Both times I've been to this location, it's been on its A game. There's literally nothing to complain about. Friendly service. (And each time, from a different crew.) The orders come out correctly. The restaurant is clean and the temperature inside is always comfortable. The beverage area is always clean and well stocked. In other words, you don't have to ask them to go to the back and get lemon packets or any other condiments. Each time, my burger was cooked perfectly. The bread, whether a hamburger bun or Texas toast, is always fresh and toasted. The cheese is melted. The toppings are plentiful. And the fries are crispy. (Friends, an order of Whataburger fries cooked properly even beats the world famous Mickey D's fries!) Waited 40 minutes in the drive thru for "fast food" that supposedly had a good reputation from friends. Along with other drivers, we waited for about 15 minutes to place our order, 5 minutes to actually order, another 20 minutes to get to the window, and another 5 minutes to get our food at the window. During this time, 3 very smart drivers left. Visiting from California, we decided to try this place out for the first time and it turned out to be disappointing. They even got our order wrong. Tonight was an extra long wait. When i finally got to the window I began to get more frustrated as i watched most of the employees not doing much. This would be one star if it wasnt for the manager that helped me. Before i could say a word he apologized for the wait and immediately compt my order. At that moment I understood the wait. I never have issues at this Whataburger. Wait times are never more than usual. Obviously if you're in a drive thru line of 5+ cars, it's gonna be a bit of a wait. I'll wait for Whataburger any day. I went through the drive through tonight after having an extremely long day and barely having anything to eat. I was starving. I order and get to the window. The person working the window Brandon (who is also apparently the manager) asked me if I was married. I said no and he reversed to tell Me that we are all sinners and to keep god close to my heart because he is very forgiving. At this point I am just trying to contain myself because I am literally just disgusted that people like that are allowed to work in customer service positions and also that he is the manager. It was a Friday night around 8pm and there were 4 people ahead of me, so I figured this was a one off. Second visit I waited about 40mins. I love a "Texas" burger made with mustard instead of ketchup or mayo. Whataburger makes it just perfect. The service is always friendly and the store is always nice and clean. The only beef I have with them is that their drive-thru service is so slow. Seriously, the reasoning behind a drive-thru is for FAST and convenient meal delivery.
