We worked late last night. Late enough that when we realized what time it was, it was too late to cook and there weren't a lot of options in Uber Eats. Against our better judgment, we went with Whataburger's Dawsonville location. This might be my first review for them on Yelp, but it is not the first time there and all three times in the space of almost a year have been equally terrible. Let me put it in perspective... I spent several years of my childhood in Texas, where Whataburger is about as much as an iconic institution as Atlanta's Varsity. Imagine growing up and moving east where there's no Whataburger in your state. And then imagine joining the campaign to bring Whataburger here. Let's change that and take a native Georgian who grew up eating at The Varsity, who then moved to Texas, went YEARS without that nostalgic taste and the memories associated with it. Then, let's say someone decides to open a Varsity franchise in Houston Metro AND COMPLETELY DISGRACE THE MEMORIES OF YOUR CHILDHOOD. That's pretty much what the Dawsonville location has done all three times we've eaten there. I can only assume that they just don't care. It's not only that all three times the food has been old and cold... it's not only that the first time I ordered there for a pickup, and they let me sit for 30 minutes before handing my mysteriously lost order, with no offer to remake the old, cold, stale food... it's also that consistently all three times, the orders have been horribly wrong. As you can see from the picture, I ordered two double whataburgers, both with bacon, one with jalapeno, one without, and both with letttuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mustard, even though you can't see that part. We paid for the up charges. Total was $51 and some change. Pretty sure what I ended up with was not $51 worth. What I got, was three burgers... only one with bacon, all three with only ketchup. The handy thing about Uber Eats is that you can watch in real time where your delivery person is. Poor dude sat at that location for almost half an hour. Maybe he had dinner while he was there, I don't mind. But I'm 100 percent positive that he did not assemble or pack the order. So clearly he was not the issue. So not only did they get the order horribly wrong, but they made a guy who depends on tips, wait. Yes, we still tipped because we knew it wasn't his fault. And I know Dawsonville isn't a hub of activity at midnight on a Thursday morning, so I'm pretty positive they weren't just swamped, which was the excuse I got the first time my order was left sitting and also incorrect. At this point, I'd rather see that location shut down than allow them to further disgrace an iconic Texas institution. We won't be going back and I'll be sure to share my review on that location. read more

I have heard all the hype but this was my first time ever eating with this chain. I would go back for the onion rings they were amazing melt in your mouth crunchy on the outside 'Perfecto' had the number 5 good flavor very tasty but burger was luke warm and so were the fries. For the record we ordered our food and ate at table in store. There soda machine was broke no diet coke, no coke zero, just diet dr pepper. Should have just went for unsweet tea. Over all my meal was very lackluster. Service from staff 1 out of 10 I would say 5 not fantastic, no greeting upon walking in, had to ask for help and a very ackward moment when the guy came tableside with tray of condements he only pointed out two kinds of ketchup but had a few more items but was not able to see what they were. They do it right here. The burgers are solid, the chicken sandwiches are the best around. The fries have the perfect amount of salt. And where else will you find a Blackberry Dr Pepper shake?? I'm a big fan of Whataburger and was very excited to see them open a store in Dawsonville. So far, it looks like they are a big hit with everyone except some Yelp reviewers who had bad experiences with the drive-thru. The drive-thru lines and the inside seating has been packed every time I have gone by so I went inside. I like the self order, self pay screens. They just need to pay attention and hand you a drink cup once you've ordered. Food is good, on the top end of fast food burgers. It's a solid 4. Service is good, place is kept very clean, food comes out quickly and you get a good cheeseburger and decent fries. It's a great place to pull through, get a burger and hit 400 on the way home from the lake. read more

We've been waiting for this to open and it did not disappoint! We were able to get in line to be one of the first 10 customers. There was a swag bag included for being one of the first! Of course we received service with a smile. The food was fresh and tasty and didn't take that long even though there was a huge crowd. We came back once again to try breakfast. I tried this restaurant for my first time not long after they opened in 2024, ordered a burger and fries. The fries were so salty you could not eat them. Today I went back to try again, fries are still very salty but isn't the burger ! Why is a burger so salty you cannot eat it ?? Never happened to me before with any burger, anywhere. I really want to like Whataburger. I really do. I enjoy their burgers, but their drinks are always mixed wrong (not enough syrup or not enough carbonation). They always have two lanes open, but only answer one. They aren't fast food at all-we might have had time to go next door to Olive garden, have our food, and leave before we got our order here today. As someone from the home of the Whataburger, Texas, I can honestly say this place is doomed! I usually leave the line in the drive thru, because you can literally sit there for 10 min. The line does not move. That coupled with ppl parking after they leave the window to go back in and get their order corrected, it's not worth the effort. But... went today at about 3:30p, and stayed because there was no one in line at all. I ordered, the kiosk style employee took my order. I paid at the window, because I had cash. As she gave me my change, she asked me to pull around and park at a numbered spot. I was the only customer in the drive thru I realized I hadn't asked for ketchup but remembered Whataburger (from experiences in Texas) is always good about making sure you have it. I love the spicy ketchup. About 4 min after I Parker's, a nice employee brought me my bag with patty melt and fries- The employee was friendly but brought no ketchup and, when I asked, he said I could swing back around to the window and ask. I didn't bother- not sure why he couldn't bring any back out. No napkins in the bag for my very saucy patty melt. The melt was alright, but the fries were lukewarm and stale (way too salty but this is fairly normal for this chain). I will probably choose other burger joint options- I've tried twice with this restaurant, and it's not worth the money or hassle. Hope they revamp and get with the program or they'll never make it. read more

This place has huge burgers! They have those little fries that are soft, but not soggy, like everybody else used to have before they changed to those big hard fries that stay warm forever so there isn't any food waste. They got those medium drinks that are so big you can't finish. One drawback is they forgot to ask how I wanted my burger cooked and gave me a rare one. I'm not a fan of rare, but I will assume there's enough food safety going on in there that it was safe to eat. Food overall is really good. Service however needs a lot of work. To tell a customer after waiting in the drive thru line that they will not take back an order that is messed up is very poor customer service. I get that orders can be messed up but initially refusing to fix it is absolutely not okay. Then they dismissed the entire treatment stating well the drive thru guys rang it up wrong. I'm not mad my order is messed up I'm mad you refused to fix it in the first place. Inside looked fine no messes. Please upgrade your customer service treatment or you will not last. 2 burger meals and paid $30 for them to have the audacity to give me old dark microwave french fries. Why did they think that this is OK?

Avoid this location! Went in Sunday (Dec 8) evening and it was pretty slow. A few tables were occupied and the drive-thru had a few cars. Ordered at the kiosk and grabbed our number and sat down. And waited. And waited. There was a lot of yelling in the kitchen for Tripp to cook some burgers, and more patrons came in and ordered and sat down. The place filled up as the kitchen got behind. Food didn't come out for 25 minutes and all of the burgers were wrong. No cheese on any of them, a burger ordered plain came out with all the fixings, what should have been a double burger came out as a single, wrong toppings and condiments on them all. I did go to point all this out to the person at the counter and all she said was that they don't refire burgers and gave me a few slices of cheese. Apparently we weren't the only ones with issues. There were at least five other patrons that went up to complain, including someone who went through the drive-thru and came back. Oh, and they did refire another patron's burger. Heard that from the yelling from the kitchen. This location is mis-managed and I am going to avoid from here on. read more

Because of the hype, I've attempted to go through the drive thru here to try it three times over the past month... after sitting 10-15 minutes without movement I gave up and reversed out the first two times. Today, after about 10 minutes of no movement somebody pulled in behind me, so I was committed. All in all, it took 35 minutes to get thru the drive thru, and it wasn't busy. I was maybe 4 cars back. Burger was basically a sonic burger, not bad but not special. Won't try again. Freddy's beats it hands down. Heck, so does Wendy's. read more

My order was completely wrong and 2/3 of my order was missing when I got home. I was missing both apple pies and both order of fries from my meals. I called the restaurant and spoke with somebody named "Francisco" who claimed to be a manager and asked for him to refund the items that I was never provided, and he said he was not able to do so, and that I would need to come into the store in person. This is now the third poor customer service experience that I have had at this location, and as a result I will not be back. I cannot tolerate such a complete lack of customer service from this location. I eat at many of your other locations, including your San Antonio airport location earlier today and NEVER have an issue, but this Dawsonville location is terribly managed and poorly operated. It's a shame as I love your brand, but I cannot continue to support this location with repeated basic issues of customer service. A refund should have immediately be issued for items that were not placed in my bag, and your employee's lack of basic management skills are unacceptable in basic service recovery. read more

Went inside to order from the kiosk, waited 20 whole minutes for our food. Overheard an employee talking about how "this place would be in shambles" without him. They heavily prioritize the drive thru while entirely ignoring the in-store customers. It was 15 minutes before an employee even spoke to us. While me and my friends were sitting down at this restaurant a person walking out of the door and proceeded to use explicit terms to describe me and my friends and also used his middle finger as he drove off. We later found out that the person who did that was the assistant manager, Mathew Carmenatty. I understand we can be loud but we were nowhere near being disrespectful enough for us to deserve the way we were treated. We are children be insulted by a grown man... the assistant manager. This behavior is unacceptable for any employee and the fact that it was an assistant manager makes it even more intolerable. I understand we can be loud but we were not disrespectful at all. We were also not disturbing anyone me and my friends in fact made friends with a middle aged couple in the parking lot. This is not normal or okay by any means.
