    Quiet in here.

OK, I am updating my review for this location of Whataburger. Apparently they must have new management in place. Unlike the last two times I visited this location, the place was very clean, and the food was much better! I still had to deal with a young lady at the cash register who was in training and needed help, but that's OK. We all have to learn and start somewhere. My order was correct, which is also new. And my burger and fries were both very hot and fresh. The fries were so hot I had to be careful, picking them up to dip them in the spicy ketchup. That is most certainly a first. I am very pleased that perhaps the quality of Whataburger in Kansas City is getting better. Every location I've been to has a lot of troubles and is nowhere near the quality of Whataburger in Texas or Oklahoma. But this one, on this particular night, gives me hope. It was damn good!

This location is open 24/7xStop here for a quick dinner on Friday night. Came inside and order from Kiosk. Each time we have been here, we had to wait 20-30 minutes for food. Extremely slow in service for that reason they are getting 3 stars. Seating area are clean inside.

Previous to tonight, my last and only visit to Whataburger was as a high school freshman about 55 years ago with my dad when we lived in Pensacola. I had no frame of reference and I was impressed. I was REALLY impressed. After a move from Florida to Missouri then to Oregon years later and a recent move back to Missouri, I finally had a chance to see if my first impression was valid and mostly it was. The wait was lengthy but not unreasonable. I found the employees I interacted with to be personable and helpful. The menu options are easily customizable, something I always look for. The drive is dual lane and the store is open 24 hours, something I've never seen before. Also, they take Apple Pay! My wife had a single patty burger with bacon, onion rings and a chocolate shake. She thought it was all good with the exception of the onion rings which she reported as " very good", a sentiment I agree with. I opted for a triple Whataburger and thought it was also very good. The beef tasted fresh, and the sandwich was delish in my opinion. I also ordered a side of fries and sadly, they were a disappointment - dry, under-seasoned and clearly just out of the freezer. My wife agreed and that represents the only punitive deficit. I have read some previous reviews and would suggest everyone consider that this being a newly opened restaurant, there are going to be problems, likely one-offs. So give the kids a break until they've been at it a few months. That said, I would not drive the 33 miles (one way) as I did tonight to have a Whataburger but I wouldn't hesitate to stop if the opportunity presented. This is a very good hamburger and ranks among my favorites. Up the fries and I'll have no problem upping my score.

We have been to this location 3 times when we visit family, wanted to give it a few visits for a fair review. The only negative experience was the first visit after they had opened as people were still super new and food took awhile, but patience goes a long way. Highlights are portions are good, food has tasted great each time, and the associates when we dine in are super kind and attentive. Kent, he specifically is phenomenal.

My Favorite Fast Food Burger! It has been a long wait since I had my first Whataburger in 1983 by the Gulf of Mexico in Corpus Christi, Texas (home of their first outlet in 1950), until one finally opened in Lee's Summit, MO. So I guess you can call me a big fan. The Hype: Their opening came as a shock to our midwestern neighbors, as former Texans and followers of the two handed burgers converged on a new fast food burger joint. The lines for their drive through ran through their neighbor's parking lot, down the next street, and back down Douglass almost to I-470! I knew folks who showed up at 3:00 am to get in line for their burgers. I am not sure Lee's Summit has ever seen anything like this in their history. Now that is demand that did not go unnoticed, it even spurred a feature (including the changes in the traffic pattern) in the Kansas City Star and local TV new broadcasts. So I waited for a few weeks to check out their newest offering. Earlier in the week I stopped by for a couple of breakfast sandwiches (a Sausage Biscuit and a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit). Being the second car in line, I left with my orange stripped sack in just a couple of minutes. The first thing I noticed was he the sausage patty actually covered the whole bun. Next I found that its flavor was not overwhelmed by either the biscuit or the egg. And that flavor was very good!. The next night we stopped by for a carry out dinner of burgers and fries. This time it was 6:00 pm (early dinner rush) and both drive through lanes were open and backed up few cars (5 o 6). Paula, who had never been to a Whataburger, held us up for a few minutes studying the menu before we pulled forward with those same 5 or 6 cars still ahead. As we were in the farthest land from the window, I was a bit concerned. But i watched as a member of their staff came out with a laptop to double check our order and run my credit card. After a total wait of around 10 minutes, my Bacon Cheeseburger, and Paula's loaded up Whataburger with cheese was delivered with a smile. The burgers are actually big enough to cover the whole bun (along with the bacon covering the whole patty), the two handed burgers struck us as having a full great flavor. We both decided that their burgers surpassed those from any other fast food burger in town! Their flavor stacks up well with Unk's, Town Topic, and even Winstead's (Surprised at that one!). The lowest point was that the fries were seriously average. Acceptable, but average. I cannot say enough about the friendly service during their still amazing demand. Our total bill came out to $18.00 and change for two meals of burgers, fries, and drink - very much in line with other fast food burger drive throughs in the area. Not only will I continue to follow that first Whataburger I had decades ago in Texas, but I will still understand why they have been around since 1950.

Summer heat too much? Cool off with a milkshake from Whataburger! Fries, burgers, chicken tender sandwiches, milkshakes & more...you can't go wrong with whataburger for a meal.

Being a burger lover has thrown me into a burger frenzy over the years so I'm always on the hunt for a new, different or 'better' burger & will go anywhere to try one, well, almost anywhere. My Whataburger experience isn't new as I've been to locations in Oklahoma and Texas enough times over the years & for me, well, it's just OK. I've had much better burgers from many restaurants, dives & downright hole in the walls. Recently, Whataburger made its debut to the Kansas City area thanks to a hankering for it from Kansas Chiefs QB, Patrick Mahomes (missing it from his home state of Texas). After a month of the opening craze I decided to roll into the Lees Summit location. I waited in the drive-thru about 40 minutes which I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the WHY of it all, nonetheless I did (Thank GOD gas prices have dropped)! I ordered a double Whataburger with cheese & a strawberry shake. The burger was lukewarm, huge as usual & as I stated before, just OK. It's nothing I'd write home about & certainly not at the top of my 'Best Burger' list. I love onion, but they were cut in awkward, crazy lookin' chunks that were just too big. Ugh! The shake was extremely loaded with whatever strawberry syrup they use, so much so that it settled at the top of the lid. Soooo unattractive & unappetizing! Sadly, it was disappointing! Why would I even think it'd be any different or better than any other Whataburger? Silly me. Same story, different state...MY opinion. Soooo, just for the sake of trying, feel free if you want, but I'm soooo glad we have Shake Shack! A much smaller burger (& much more expensive), but packed with flavor & so much deliciousness that you'd wish you would've bought two. Whataburger? Huh? Yes, it's a question for me.

Well, I had to see what all the hype was about. My best friend loves this place also and always talks about it since she's from TX. I got lucky one morning while in LS around 10:15am to realize there wasn't a huge line yet. It was a little early for lunch, sure, but I wasn't sure I would ever see the line that short. The staff that was directing cars where to go were amazing. They were so friendly, and excited about having a newbie try their famous burgers. Being the person I am, when I got to the ordering screen I totally blanked on what to get, and honestly felt a little rushed to decide. I picked a bacon cheeseburger, no mustard, no pickle with fries and a drink. All in all, I spent about 20 minutes going through the drive through and would rate my meal a 4/5. The burger was okay, the fries were good. I would go back to try some other things on the menu!

Everytime I go to a different Whataburger I get my hopes up. I think "surely this one won't disappoint me." Yet without fail and as sure as the ringing of deaths bell at the end of everyone's life, they let me down. People in Texas must be insane if they consistently wait 20 minutes when there are two cars in line. How does it take so much time to create the most average food out there? I just wanted to take a nap today, but I couldn't. Oh, I'm still in line waiting. There has only ever been one car in front of me...

I asked for no tomato's and only mayo on my chicken sandwich and they put everything on it. This ruined my whole meal.

The restaurant itself is super cute, fun, and has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the ice cream wasn't for me. It was overloaded with toppings to the point that I could barely taste the ice cream itself. I love a good balance between the ice cream and the mix-ins, and this just felt like there was way too much going on. The toppings completely overpowered the flavor of the ice cream. We decided to give Johnny Ray's another shot and came back to try the food. Sadly, I wasn't impressed. For the price, I honestly felt like I could have made a better meal at home. Nothing stood out, and it just wasn't worth the money in my opinion. I really wanted to like this place because it's such a fun, inviting spot, but after giving it two separate chances, we've decided we won't be returning for either the food or the desserts. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I also believe in giving an honest account of my experience.
