Honestly I'm not even upset about the wait. Everyone was going to check it out due to the hype, so waiting an hour in the drive through line wasn't a big deal for me. The service was okay too. There seemed to be problems with communication that come with people not having their processes ironed out at a newt opened restaurant so it's understandable. For some reason the employee operating the drive through intercom told us to pay at the second window and didn't tell the employee operating the second window, who would've let us drive away without paying if we didn't tell her. Very strange interaction there but not detrimental. What upsets me most is the food. We literally ordered shakes and fries because we didn't want burgers but still wanted to check it out. The fries were good, but the shake was literally warm. Warm flavored milk. We paid $8 for two cups of chocolate milk. Not even close to being cold and honestly probably a health code violation. Worst service ever! Will never go back. Nobody was in the front to offer help when we arrived. I asked if I could order and they pointed to the self checkout screen and told me to order myself even though no one else was there. Then they proceeded to go to the back and mess around with the other coworkers making all kinds of inappropriate jokes and I saw them eating the food while working the food line. When they finally did being out our food they were missing the milkshakes. It took me forever to get someone to come.out from the back to even ask if I needed help even though I'd been standing there making eye contact with some of the employees who proceeded to ignore me and walk away. When I explained that our shakes were missing they didn't believe and thankfully I still had the receipts to show them. Finally a woman came around the corner to help me. She rolled her eyes at her coworkers and said she they were all a bunch of idiots. She gave us our milkshakes so I was thankful for her help. There was a large wait time at that point and no one was working to help anyone. The entire experience was a disaster with the exception of the one woman who was kind enough to help me. I placed an online order while at St. Luke's Hospital to get some food for us when she finished her surgery. I scheduled it at a certain and made sure to lallygag a bit by about 5 minutes after the time it was said to be ready, so that it would most likely be ready for pickup once I came in. I was not greeted, which is fine because it's busy and there were a bunch of kids working there. While waiting for my food, I looked in the back and watched the teens push each other around and check each other's phones and answer their cell phones. They completely disregarded all customers and did not ask once did any of us needed help. They left the cashier alone even though the lobby was full of people who needed their order taken. This was fine to me because I have worked in fast food plenty of times, so none of this really bothered me as long as my food is hot and made correctly. Unfortunately, all of those were red flags. I asked for toasted buns and got BURNT buns. I'm talking BLACK ON BOTH SIDES, not dark brown or even golden brown. I ordered an apple pie with my meal, and they forgot to give me that. When I asked, they acted as if I was needy when really I should have had my entire order in the bag without asking, but whatever. Next, when I asked for jalapeño ranch, a woman in the back yells about how it's not free and next time it won't be free. That's fine with me, but I genuinely had no clue that their sauces were that big or that they costed extra. I did not have to be yelled at like a child or like I was 30 feet away to understand that. I called the customer care line and operating manager. Sabrina was kind and understanding, so I give props and credit where it is due. The customer care expert I spoke with on the line was also attentive and caring so I am thankful for that too. Whataburger in Lee's Summit is horrible compared to the ones I've been to in other states. This store is new and bougie looking, so I was expecting the experience to be top tier considering I even paid more than I typically do. I would not recommend this place if you are in a rush or want to go somewhere where you can trust that the food they gave you has everything you paid for and is not BURNT. The girl working the register was so quiet, I had to ask her several times to repeat herself. I am not hard of hearing in the least. She then gives me back 18 nickles for change because she was too lazy to get another roll of quarters or dimes. She wouldn't even hand me my receipt or plastic number to put on the table. I had to tear the receipt off the roll myself. They mess up my order, just made it standard, even though I paid extra for bacon and jalapenos. After even more of a wait, we got our food and found that despite the long wait our orders were done incorrectly. At that point, it wasn't worth the wait to get the correct order. This location had much to be desired in customer service and speed of which they prepared food. Ordered online for ASAP - was given pickup in 10 minutes from order, which was fine, we had to drive 10 minutes to pick up. Arrived at store - they have an order kiosk so everybody was in back with drive thru or preparing food. No one came out front to greet/check on us, but did eventually holler from the back to see what we needed, let them know we had online orders. Waited 15 minutes for them to bring out orders, which were missing items and drinks. Waited 5 more minutes for those things to be brought to us. I appreciate the folks for putting in a hard days work, food service can be grueling, but please don't: 1) Ignore customers who come to your establishment and 2) State a time for your product to be picked up and not have it ready or at least the decency to say sorry we're working on it. This was my first trip to this chain since they opened in the KC area. We went inside to eat. I went to the bathroom while my wife ordered. The floor was all wet and there were no paper towels. When we ordered the food, the register operator did not have change so we could not pay with cash. After we paid, we went to the drink dispenser and there was no ice!! Really? We asked if they had any in the back for the drive through and apparently they didn't have any either. Then we waited for our food. We arrived a little after 2pm. It took 24 minutes to get our food after paying. They clearly have process and management problems which is surprising since they said this location has been open for 4 months. The hamburgers were OK but not really a lot different or better than some other chains. Frankly, I thought they left a bad aftertaste. This was generally a disappointing experience. read more
