2024-02-19. Whataburger. San Antonio, TX. Whataburger is one of many burger chains in Texas. Competing with chains like In-and-Out, Chick-fil-A, A&W, Shake Shack, Culver's, and Steak 'n Shake. Being my first time trying it, I opted for both a beef and chicken burger. The hamburger was a double cheeseburger and the chicken was the breaded spicy one. Both were "all the way" which includes lettuce tomato and onions and condiments. The beef is very similar to that of In-and-Out, it's juicy and greasy. But the patty is bigger, similar to the size of a whopper. The double burger is at least 1/4 pound of meat. The spicy chicken is breaded and not too spicy. There is a kick, but not as potent as Burger Kings angry chicken. This didn't do much for me and IMO can't hold a candle to Chick-Fil-A's or Jollibee's. The fries are nothing special either. The cut is in between McD's and BK. They're not bad, but they're not great either. Overall, Whataburger's burgers are clearly the choice if you're to dine here. I didn't try their grilled burger and in hindsight should have tried that over the breaded spicy chicken. If I'm being honest here, I'd have to say I prefer Whataburger's double cheeseburger over Steak 'n Shake and In-and-Out when looking for that greasy munchies meal after a pub crawl. This Whataburger location just give this amazing franchise such a bad rep! I've been here a few times throughout the years because it is the most convenient location for me, but the food is so bad every time. I keep telling myself "today will be different", but no. The food is cold, tasteless, sometimes overcooked and dry...and just bad. Service is also extremely slow, and I think one time I even waited 1 hour for my order (pre-pandemic). Like every San Antonian, I love Whataburger too much to turn my back on this amazing franchise. Anyhow! Regardless, I am most likely going to be back here in 2023 when I forget about my experience, and I do hope the new year brings a more positive experience. read more

I never leave reviews but this is one of the worst Whataburger places I been to. I made sure to stay in line even after getting my food and checking to see if everything was in there. Unfortunately they forgot food so I had to ask for it and was given attitude for asking for my missing items. Food was not good either, the onion rings were not fully cooked and the burgers tasted like they don't like to scrub whatever is burning on the grill. We ended up just throwing the food away. Not sure if the manager or those workers there don't care how the food is being made but I definitely would not recommend coming to this Whataburger. read more

My friends from San Antonio made it priority to take me here on my last night visiting from California. I tried their iconic Whataburger and it was definitely an interesting take on a sandwich/burger. I'm pretty health conscious so this isn't a place I would come on a regular basis, but it's good for a self-treat every now and then! This Whataburger where I ordered on the online app. Created so much drama and chaos. I ordered a meal and two for me and my friend. I called and spoke with a manager or team lead and all they could tell me is to cancel my order since the delivery driver did not show. Waited 30-45 mins for a simple order. I asked them." Would you comp the meals due to the mistake and they said no." What a trash answer and have used the Whataburger app several times in the past and this is inexcusable. As I told the manager thanks for nothing trying to correct the Whataburger delivery issue where the food was $38 for two meals plus delivery and they just told me to cancel the order. Never will I ever stormy to give this location business again!!!! read more

I live in the area and always find myself trying to give this location a chance. They literally NEVER get an order correct. Whether it is curbside or drive through, something is always missing. This time it was 2 pies and ketchup. No ketchup for 4 orders? How do they even think that's right. Whenever I've caught them, they are super rude and indignant. I asked for a refund and they demanded I bring my food back so they could issue it. If they forgot the food the first time, what are they trying to see by making me bring the bag back. Food was kinda soggy and super oily nothing on the burger tasted fresh but other than that it was fine

I picked up breakfast from there yesterday.. a couple hours later I was extremely ill. This isn't the first time I got food poisoning from a whataburger. This will be my last time eating there I hope no one else got sick. I had to leave work and now am spending my weekend in bed. read more

Thank goodness that there are other Whataburger places in the city that know how to make a vanilla malt. This place DOES NOT. Young girl at counter took my order. She brought a styrofoam cup with a very thick shake that looked like soft serve ice cream. Way too thick to be a proper malt (or shake). This thing did not taste like a malt. (This is a recurrent problem at some Whataburger locations -- I have learned not to ever drive off without tasting what I receive.) The manager, an older woman, got involved and replaced this "malt" with an identical one. I told her the consistency was wrong. She just smiled. She told me she put in a double amount of malt powder. But I could tell this had NO malt in it. I left without arguing. I hate dealing with utterly clueless people. I decided to drive to the Whataburger at 3130 Broadway where I presented the problem malt to the young lady at the counter. She gladly replaced my untouched malt with a new one. I tasted it. It was malty AND had the right consistency. I offered to show her my receipt from the original purchase at the South Side location. She smiled and told me "It's okay. have a nice day." Before I left she asked me "Which location made the first malt?" I told her it was the Roosevelt location. She gave me a knowing look and I understood what she meant. ("Oh, THAT place!") I know it's a fast food place, but we had been cycling all day and the burger hit the spot. We will do the jalapeno burger, and it was tasty. The french fries were crisp, hot, with just enough salt. We don't have Whataburgers where we come from, but if we did I would eat there regularly. read more

Always give whata that 5 star rating because they always make my order correctly and have really good staff, probably not chic fil a standards but still make sure I'm happy which is good for me. Anyways I like to order really picky burgers and they always get it right and it's always fresh, I go in at the night which is the one to see if they're really on the ball but they are, the managers are great as well. I don't know which manager it is specifically but, he always hooks it up with a large fries and large drink, being an officer working down the street he always gives us small free things at the late hours which is nice. Midnight meals are hard to by but when it comes to this place it never let's you down. So I come here pretty frequently and I've never had any trouble, this is my favorite fast food joint in town, what a burger lover for life! Although at night you might have to wait a tad bit extra for your meal it all is worth it in the end. :) read more

Close to my house, they are pretty fast, unless you come late at night, but it's normal. Love whataburger!

If I could leave a negative star I would. Spent 29 minutes in the drive through and ordered a Monterey Melt checked the burger and it had one piece of onion and 2 small pieces of peppers when it is supposed to have plenty of both. Went in to the store and asked the manager about it not having enough peppers and he grabbed the burger threw it in the trash and when asked if he was going to give me another or a refund... he said no he was calling the cops then went back into the kitchen and hid. I called the cops as well and called corporate. If you have the wrong food do not complain at this store they would rather call the cops then admit any wrongdoing. read more

The staff at this location are very friendly and courteous. They seem happy to be there and to work with each other as well. My meal was nicely cooked perfect and served fast. Will definitely stop by this location more often on the way to work. read more

This particular location is the true representation of what a real fast food hamburger place should operate. It's one of my favorite Whataburgers dine. I've seen Whataburger all over San Antonio, I wouldn't say this is anything like fast food. It more like meh diner food fast. My grilled chicken sandwich was good and veggies were fresh-ish. But my fries were lack luster and service as well. They offer table service like other chains do now, but lobby host wasn't pleasant and was more interested in speaking with a friend. It was pretty dirty, and run down for a chain that everyone uses. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER! Waited at least 40 minutes for our food to come out from the drive-thru and on top of that, they completely messed up my order. I had heard from a friend that the drive thru at this location tries to keep part of your change when you order here. I guess I kept that in the back of my mind, because I rarely go to this location. Well, I drive thru for breakfast this week, and sure enough, the woman at the drive thru "accidentally" put my change in the to go bag. When I checked, she had neglected to put the $1.00 from the $1.67 change. (The coins were in there, but not the dollar bill.) I knocked on the window to alert her of the error and retrieve my dollar. She smiled and apologized, but gave me my change that was sitting on the counter, not from the register drawer. Her not having to open the drawer tells me she knew it was mine. Shady and sad. This whataburger has the friendliest manager I've ever come across in a fast food restaurant. It seems that his pride in his job trickles down to the other employees and leads to better tasting food than other whataburgers have. Do yourself a favor and pick this whataburger if you have a choice! read more
