This was the California Classic combo. Patties were a bit dry but flavor was good.

The food can go from okay to better. The 1/3 pound burgers are better than the smaller ones and they are angus beef. I wouldn't think it would make a difference but it does. Service is okay. Ambiance, well it's in a Loves truck stop. So that's the ambiance. I feel like sometimes the food is better than other times. The dining area can be spotless or a wreck. Keep in mind sometimes buses and such stop in your dine so that can't help matters. I'm thankful it's there tho.

Arguably the best burgers around. There should be more locations! These burgers beat Whata burger any day of the week.

What a pleasant roadside surprise we experienced at Route 35 Diner…read more On the way to a South Texas Ranch, a group of 7 of us met here to have lunch one Saturday morning. It's very easy to miss while traveling down IH-35 S, because by the time you see the sign "diner", you have passed it by. Although all 7 of us have been right by this place many times over the years, this was a first time experience for the group. In fact, we all failed to realize the diner was even here, as it is also overshadowed by the adjacent service station. The consensus was this was quite the unexpected surprise and each person gave a huge thumbs up for their own meal choice. Personally, I went with the poblano chicken and it was the best I've ever had, which is saying a lot. I believe I ordered this same dish dozens of times in a 60 mile radius and what set it apart was the tasty creamy sauce on top of a very flavorful chicken. The chicken was prepared differently and not the usual stringy stands of breast meat used in other local taquerias. The other dishes from the group were street tacos, shrimp quesadillas, fajitas and even a few with breakfast entrees. We all agreed this place is now on our radar and we are all coming back. A few of the waitstaff did not speak English, which was OK, because a few in our group grew up in Mexico, so the transition was easy. It also gave that authentic feeling that we are in the right place. But please don't let the language gap discourage you because the other helpers spoke English well enough for even the gringos in our group got what they wanted. So owners of this restaurant keep doing what you are doing and if you want to be busting from the seams with business, stick a huge sign in a strategic place and be prepared for more great reviews.

They serve a variety of burgers, sandwiches, wings, dogs, desserts, and meals include either a side of tots, fries, cucumbers with chamoy and lucas, or corn in a cup. Other sides are available as well. This trip since we craved for burgers, ordered: Bistro burger- wonderfully seasoned and cooked, served on sourdough, with avocado, grilled onions and mushrooms, mayo. One thing that should be added, the works, I felt it would be even better with the addition of lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes. I ordered the cucumbers sans chamoy and lucas. I appreciate simple veggies. Mexican burger- excellent! Juicy burger with cheese, jalapenos, pico de gallo, bacon and the works. The tater tots had a nice and crispy outer texture as it should. Overall- very good. Tasty, reasonable, clean, and great service. We'll have to make sure to come back sooner!

They accommodated everything we asked for. The decor of the exterior was like visiting a small themed park. And the interior decor was interesting to look at and felt clean and cozy. I loved my mimosa and my husband got the breakfast burger he said it was amazing. My teenager boy got the chicken fried steam and said it was crispy outside and super tender on the inside. My mom ordered a small pancake with an egg on top, it was perfect! I will be visiting again. The price point was a little higher than your average restaurant in this area, but considering they level of service, quality of food, and the comfort they provide its worth it. If you are trying to pinch penny's then hit up the local taco drive through and get a .99 Bean & cheese taco.

We had the pretzel (4 short pretzel sticks), nachos, the smash burger and a grilled cheese sandwich for our Grand Daughter. Service was quick initially but they weren't great on refilling drinks. Food was all good and a reasonable value for the venue. I'd get the burger and nachos again. They are kid friendly during the day (it might be a different crowd at night), it is clean and not too noisy. Hopefully, people will find it and enjoy their food. I believe they are part of the Goode Co company out of Houston and sell their Pecan Pies as well.
