I took our car for a rear brake job. They did the job but I got fleeced in the process. $549 for rear brake job including the drums. They use AutoZone/O'Reilly parts but they charge you 2 or 3 times as much for parts. A good place to get ripped off. Example: Rear brake hardware (spring/screw kit) $12 at AutoZone, they charge $37. 2 drums $112 at AutoZone, they charge $256. Brake shoes charge of $121 versus $50 at AutoZone. These charges are in addition to their labor charge. Might as well go to dealership. At least you get OEM parts. read more

I was referred to this place by another wheelwork because my car was lowered. Was told they have alignment racks that are lowered car friendly. I live 21miles away and I thought I would give them a try. I came on 4/28/2018 around 12:30PM afternoon about 6 hours before they close and hope to drop off the car. Ziyad helped me, I told them I have lifetime alignment and would like to drop off the car. He told me he cannot take anymore alignment they are fully booked for the day. I asked is there an appointment I can make for next day and he said weekends are first come first serve, Appointment only available for weekdays. I went back the next day 4/29/2018. Ziyad was the one that helped me again. I was the 2nd in line when they are open. I told him the same thing I need an alignment and he told me it would be about 2 1/2 hours wait. I questioned him how can it be possible because I am the 2nd in line and they just open. I told him isnt it first time first serve on the weekend? He replied only Saturday. He also said because they have cars left from the day before. I wasn't too happy, I said so basically you guys are backed up every day because whatever wasn't finish will just keep on roll over to the next day. He then said because people know how busy they are and drop off car during midnight to their key drop off box. He also said "I am sorry that I cannot do you free alignment today." I got so offended. I paid for my lifetime alignment. It is not free. I would not recommend this place for anyone. I feel like they are pushing me away because I didn't purchase my service from them. read more

I was recommended to wheel works by auto zone. My car battery had died, and it was an hour before they closed. I was happy that when I called, they had the battery my car needed in stock and able to take me in on such short notice. All the staff seemed friendly and was able to address my concern. Ive taken my cars here a few times and will continue to come back. They do walk ins but keep in mind there are others with your same walk in request, so it will always take a couple of hours. Plus, if you're needing something specialty like an alignment, don't assume a walk in is going to get you what you need - those machines are specialized and expensive, so there will be one and and a specialized tech running it - same day service if you're lucky and Im going to guess you get better results with an appointment. Their people are helpful, friendly and know what they are doing. Its a winning combination. In reading the posts that are at all negative, it seems to be from people thinking that these services are like going through the drive through for a burger...any given service at a successful place that allows walk ins you should expect a half a day and be surprised if its anything sooner than that. What has happened to service? When I started coming here 3 years ago, I've was great! Prompt and efficient service! I originally gave them 5 stars! Tom and his crew went above and beyond to make sure it was done right the first time. It was worth driving from Tracy to have my cars taken care of. However, as with all service industries, customer service goes downhill as time goes on. It really took a nosedive since March of 2017. It appears that appointments do not matter anymore. Our last three experiences were a great disappointment. First, my wife took our Tesla in the morning only to be told the appointment was made in error and she was turned away. Then, my son took our Mercedes and was told that they could not honor the appointment time but he could wait in line - 2 hours later, he left without any service done. And finally, I am sitting here 2 hours after my appointment time and my Suburban just went in! It was not crowded at all today! My giving the benefit of the doubt was squashed. To add insult to injury, after the job was complete, my Suburban tracked straighter but the steering wheel is off center! As they say in baseball, "Three strikes and you're out!" I WILL NOT be returning to Wheelworks. I recommend that you arrange for a ride after you drop off your car as appointments do not guarantee working the time into your schedule. I hope Wheelworks in Livermore corrects the customer service soon so as to maintain the company's reputation. read more

Wow, what an awful experience! On Wednesday, I dropped my car off to get new breaks and an inspection because I was hearing scraping noise. I dropped it off around 6:30 PM. I left the car there overnight and took Uber to DoubleTree Hotel in Dublin. The car was not safe to drive back home. The gentleman said he'll look at it first thing at 8:00 AM. I set an alarm to wake up at 7:45 AM and waited for his phone call. He did not call me. I waited an hour longer and still no call. I called the location at 9:00 AM and was told by Tom that it will be checked by this morning. I was worried at this point because if they're too busy to fix the car by today, I need to get it done at a different shop. I left it there overnight. Shouldn't my car get checked first? At 12:00 PM, I called to see if the inspection was finished. Tom said it was finish. He's with another customer, so he'll call me back in 10 minutes. 10 minutes passed and he still hasn't called me. I waited 20 minutes and finally called him. Tom told me that I needed new rotor and brakes. I would cost around $450. Ok. You can work on it. I asked Tom when I can come to pick up the car. He said 3:00 PM. I called at 3:30 to see if the car was finished. Tom checked and the car was ready. I went there, paid the $450 bill, and picked up the car. If they promise to call you back at this location, don't take their words for it. They will not call you back! read more

They left my husband stranded over 50 miles away from home!! Yesterday my husband took our car in to have a tire looked at. They found a nail and said they would let him know if it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. My husband works just a few blocks away so he told them there would be no rush, when it was ready to call him and he would walk over and pick it up...they agreed. They called him a bit later to tell him they had pulled off the tire and it did in fact need to be replaced and would call once it was ready. My husband never received a second call to say the car had been completed. Around 6:20 he decided just to walk on over as the car should've been done by then....they had the car since 9:30am. What does he find...it's closed!!! No one around, all the bays closed and no phone call! Google search, their FB page and even Yelp say that they close at 7!! We tried calling; no answer. Tried calling other locations to see if we could get in touch with a DM; no answer. Finally we went online and used their online chat option. All the girl could do was create an incident report and escalate it to the Area Manager and said we would be contacted within 24 hours. Well here we are at the 26th hour and nothing!! How was my husband supposed to get home over 50 miles away?!? Absolutely ridiculous! My husband returned this morning at 9:30 (still no damn phone call) and all they could say was that they were sorry... My family, both immediate and extended have been going to the Wheel Works location in San Jose off Pearl Ave for over 20 years and have ALWAYS received above and beyond customer service. We will NEVER go to this location ever and probably any of their other locations. This just left such a bad taste in our mouth. No concern, courtesy or care from them. From what I hear, there is a Les Schwab across the way...you are better off going there and by passing this location as quickly as you can...unless you're looking for an impromptu overnight adventure, then have at it. read more

Came here with my Ford Flex today and feel totally jerked around. Called ahead, they said tires in stock... dropped off - will be ready in two hours. Call after 2+ hours later and Wheel Works tell me they are not sure if tires are in stock now , they are to call me back and let me know. Never got a call back. 30 mins later I go in to find my car up on the lift and new tires confirmed not in stock. Funny, I had to wait more time for them to drop my car and give it back. Been here on multiple occasions, and they did a fine job. But the most recent time they damaged my front bumper and they claim it wasnt them. The paint was freshly chipped, to the point where if you blew on it the paint would fly off. Yet Tom claimed it was there before and called me a liar and wouldnt pay for it. You have several options for wheel/tire work in Livermore. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else: Americas Tire, Les Schwab to name a couple. Purchased new wheels online from Tire Rack to be installed on my existing tires. Confirmed with Tire Rack that the new wheels would work with my existing tires. Tire Rack provided a list of installers in my area, and unfortunately I chose Wheel Works since my go-to shops weren't an option. The wheels arrived two days early so after seeing many open appointments online, I called Wheel Works to inquire about moving my appointment up. Lady that answered the phone was rude and didn't take the time to listen to what I was saying, so I decided to stick with my original appointment. I arrive at my appointment time and was immediately told that Wheel Works would not install new wheels on "used" tires. They did not even take the time to inspect my existing tires, which are in excellent condition. I then proceeded to load my new wheels up and call Les Schwab, which is about 1/8 of a mile away. Les Schwab's response: "Sure, no problem" and they did the install while I waited. I've had similar great experiences at Americas Tire. I own five cars and will never give Wheel Works even a second of consideration. I had a great experience ordering from Tire Rack for the first time and I'll be contacting them to recommend removing Wheel Works from their list of installers. read more

Wheel works San Ramon is horrible. Their Customer Service is a disgrace. I bought 4 tires from them a few yrs ago and were still under warranty. I was told when I went in for a rotor job that the tires had a recall which made the tire unreliable. I have had my life put in danger through wheel works. I got all four tires replaced two years ago (29, 000 miles ago). I paid $980 for them. They put the wrong size tire on my 2012 Chrysler 300s and it began shuddering when braking. I took it back to the Livermore, CA store and was told that it was not due to tires. Wrong! I paid for an alignment which also wasn't done and my driver side tire became bald quickly. I went to another store because I do not trust wheel works, and all four tires we faulty and breaking apart. See photos. I could have been killed! I hope corporate calls me so I can give them a piece of my mind and that they put my life and my children's life in danger!!! Do not go here. If they mess up like they did with me, they don't try and fix THEIR mistake. I had to buy a new set of tires at American tires and it cost me half as much and surprise the shuddering is gone!!! Good thing I didn't drive much further, could have been killed!!! Update #2: got a call from Tom from Wheel Works. He was basically condescending and told me I got good tires. No help what's so ever! He didn't even look at them, though I already replaced them, (but there is a picture of one of them on here and I sent the picture to that email wheel works requested) otherwise I could have blown all of them driving they were so bad. Untrustworthy. Watch your wallet. We went in for tires and got back a long list of "recommended" maintenance totaling almost $1000, which was highly suspicious (my wife was alone dealing with them). Bottom line - we took it over to our trusted mechanic who verified the struts were not leaking ($400 saved), replaced the front brakes for 15% less than wheel works wanted, verified the rotors didn't need resurfacing ($88 saved), the rear brakes didn't need lubing (they'd just replaced them a few months earlier - $30 saved). We then went to walmart and bought wiper blades for $18 and replaced them in about 20 seconds ($42 saved). Avoid. read more

Untrustworthy and Dishonest Service - Beware! Be smart and get a 2nd opinion, do not trust their Manager Tom. Last month, one of my rear tires had a slow leak. I dropped the car off and within 30 minutes the Manager Tom called me to tell me that the 'screw/nail' was in the inner tube area and COULD NOT be repaired - I needed a new tire. He proceeded to quote me the price and since it was out of stock would take 2 days to arrive. I didn't have a good feeling about this phone call in my gut, so on my way home I took the car to the dealer where I had bought the car back in February 2014. In a matter of minutes the owner saw the 'little piece of metal' that was sticking out and yes, could be easily repaired. After about 20 minutes his mechanic had me back on the road and the tire has not leaked at all since. No new tire needed at all. I reported this incident to their Corporate office and have had no followup to date from their Corporate office. So, be smart - trust your gut and whatever you do....know that the Manager Tom has already lied to a customer, me. Don't be his next victim. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. I went in for new tires because I knew all 4 were pretty worn. The guy checked my tire size and wear and then printed out a work authorization form and asked for my signature to do the work. At no point did he ask what kind of tires I wanted or discuss pricing at all. Turns out he was trying to scam me into the most expensive performance tires...for my base model Prius. I told them that I didn't want those tires and made him change the quote. After he did, he tried to get me to sign the same page as before. I refused and finally got a quote that was for what I wanted. While waiting, I was continuously hassled by another guy about the tires I selected and how my performance would be much less than before. Fortunately I have knowledge about vehicles and knew he was just trying to empty my wallet. Looking back, I should've walked out the door and taken my business elsewhere. It's safe to say I will never return to do business with these crooks ever again. read more

Most people usually have unpleasant experiences with tire shops, but as a business owner and a consumer I highly recommend Wheel works. We have many cars that need either alignment, balance, new tires or even oil change and Top, the manager, has been extremely helpful and professional by giving us great deals on all their services and products. Their oil change is cheaper or the same price as most places. Their alignment is better than most places (yes, make sure you take it somewhere with new machines, otherwise you just waste your money). Top has given us great deals on tires every time and whenever he said a special order comes tomorrow or in 2 days, they actually got there in time so we never wasted any time. I brought in my car to change out 4 worn out tires around 1:30 pm. Tom told me it would be done the same day. I waited for a phone call all day in order to pick up my car. Phone call came in at 5:30 pm and Tom said that he could not find my wheel lock which meant they have not yet started to service my car. What made it worse was that he told me that I had to pick up my car the next day. Next morning comes and still no phone call. I had to call in and asked when my car would be done. One of the workers told me it was already done and i could come in and pick it up. Why do I need to call in?! 1. Made a commitment to finish my car by the end of the day. Was not able to do. 2. Made me come in the next day to pick up my car for a tire service 3. Was not able to call me that my car was done when they made a commitment to do so. I had to call in. Go anywhere but here! We brought in my wife's car for 4 new tires and my mother in law's car for 2 and both were botched. First on my wife's she called ahead, gave them her tire size and was quoted a great price for tires. We scheduled a 9am appointment and brought the car in. Explained we needed the car back by 11:30. During our drop off they switched the tire size to the stock size not the size we asked for based on the rims on our car. At 10:45am we got a call blaming us for giving them the wrong information and were told it would be $70 more a tire and they would need to go to San Jose to get the tires. We did get the car back around 2:30pm and Tom the manager did as best he could and we were out the door for $11 more than our originally quoted price. He was great,the young blonde behind the counter was a ditz though. Now for the other car. On my mother in law's we put 2 new tires on and specifically stated we wanted them on the front since it's a front wheel drive car. Instead they rotated the rear tires to the front and put the new ones in the rear. I also want to mention they quoted the wrong size tire for this car too since the air head was too lazy to go look at the tire. We did learn their system automatically defaults to the base mode so if you buy a car that is an upgrade thy will likely do this to you too. Today, less than 24 hours after she picked up her at she had a blow out on 580. They called us to up sell us an air filter, oil change and brake flush but never mentioned the car needed 4 tires and it wasn't safe! I can't believe their incompetence. read more

I'm late posting this but def have to do it to warn others. I took my '01 Saab 9-3 in a couple months ago because it was driving terrible and pulling to the right. I figured it was an alignment issue and they do an inspection for free, so why not. Well, at first they seemed friendly but I noticed they were joking with each other how they forget which is tow, caster and camber...um, you guys only do wheels so why don't you know that? Anyways, then I get my inspection sheet and they don't say a whole lot about it or try to explain to me. Nothing seemed that alarming but I am no expert. They said I should feel it pulling a little to the left based on the report but I know it's pulling to the right. After all that, I decided to not do any alignment and take it somewhere else. So, I stop by my mechanic the next day after work and tell him what I told the boys at Wheel Works...he immediately went to look at my tires and said they looked like they were wearing unevenly and pretty badly too and that he could see a little blistering in the tire which probably made it pull and drive really rough. He recommended new tires to fix it so that's what I did and abracadabra it fixed the problem! He said the guys who only do wheels and tires should have spotted this. Well, I agree with him. I'm stuck hours away from home and enterprise sent me to get an oil change for my rental and I handed her the paper that enterprise gave me to give and she said sarcastically "I don't know what that is" and then walked away mumbling. I approached her again asking how long it would take she told me an hour and a half as if I was stupid. I'm traveling for work and couldn't do it at this time and she just rolled her eyes and told her coworkers to "give her back her keys because she doesn't want to wait an hour" right in front of me as if I'm not gonna hear that attitude. Not like other Wheel Works locations! The team at this location is on your side and they will do jusy about whatever it takes to make sure you're satisfied. I'll be back for future work. If you care a lot about your car and you become anxious when handing your keys over to someone else, then you should know how difficult it is to find a shop that you trust. I have a lowered/modified Jaguar and I went to a couple of different shops to see if my car would be able to get on the alignment rack. I was referred here by other shops because this shop is brand new (just a couple months old) and their racks are built into the ground. This means that there are absolutely no ramps to climb up onto to get onto the rack, which means it's lowered car friendly. Adam at the front desk knew that I was really particular about my car and how it's handled and he made sure the technicians knew that too. The technicians that worked on my car were not able to use the standard way of clamping the sensor onto the tire because I have almost no space between my fender and tire. With my permission, they wrapped towels around two of my spokes and zip tied the sensors on. This took them extra time but they had no problem doing it for me. My technician had a lowered car himself and knew exactly how to handle an enthusiast's car. Overall, definitely impressed by this Wheel Works. It's not like the other wheel works around. Adam and my technician, German, really know what they're doing. read more

Just had 4-tires installed, 4-wheel alignment and mounting/balancing done. Very impressed with the staff and manager/Tom Nygard. I arranged pricing (which means, I tried to get and got pricing from the website Tire Buyer.com), whose prices are much below local prices and Tom matched no problem. I also tried to do this at other tire installation spots (locally) and let's just say they were all a bit sleazy - promising to match but not really?). Tom not only set this up but also met me (early one morning because I usually get to work by 645am - he met me at 630am). He was able to arrange a ride for me to work (and return to pick up too). This was extraordinary because no one else was willing to do that. I would have had to "fend for myself". All work was done by 930am, so Tom dispatched one of his mechanics to pick me up at work (just on the other side of Livermore). When there, I payed up, thanked him and on I went. This was one of the most trouble-free services I have ever had (maybe the best service experience ever?). I would most assuredly go back and have any auto service done here. Tom handled every situation ahead of time and did it well. His mechanic was a good "kid" (much younger than me....) and was timely both picking me up and dropping me off. Went in today 8-18-16 @1:00 p.m. to get my tires rotated and brakes checked. I dealt with Andy Stadlbauer who was very professional and pleasing . This Wheel Works always go far and beyond what is expected for a tire shop. I need rear brakes and he walked me through the procedure and how much it would cost which to me was very reasonable compared to a dealership. When my Civic was ready a gentleman by the name of Diego dressed up my tires to a shiny gloss and Diego was very polite and professional and he didn't have to clean my tires but went beyond my customer satisfaction ! These guys are the greatest people to work with and I felt really at home. I will get my brakes replaced on the 3rd of September 16. I had new tires installed, and they were a little smaller than the previous tires (255/30/19 vs 265/30/19). Speaking to a few people, it was recommended to realign the suspension, as the 10mm difference can still affect the settings and prematurely wear out these expensive tires. Therefore, having a lifetime alignment with Firestone/Wheel Works, I called around to see who was available in the South Bay. Milpitas Firestone said they'd do it, but when I got there, they said my car was too low to clear the ramps. They didn't have the wood to lift up the car a little, so I started calling around from their parking lot. Patel from the Firestone in Fremont suggested that I go to Wheel Works in Livermore, as they are the only one in the bay area with a ground-level rack. That means you can just drive right onto the ramps without any incline, as they are level with the ground! I called and spoke with Nick, who said to come on by (which was cool of him, since they were fitting me in just before closing time). Sure enough, the car had zero problems getting onto the Hunter alignment machine. My car is an NSX with aftermarket lip, side skirts, and a big rear diffuser, so it would never be able to clear a normal incline rack. The work was done, and the car was brought to specs as close as factory as possible (my car is lowered and camber is not adjustable). Joel was the technician who worked on my car, and he is my go-to guy. He talked me through the process, educating me on what was being done, and why. I sincerely appreciate when a professional can help me learn more about my car, and with his honest explanations, I feel a little bit more connected to my car. They cover the seats, but being that mine are red racing bucket seats, the sides are unusually high, and the plastic didn't fully cover them, so they got some grease/dried oil on them from the other technician's (not Joel) clothes. Tom, the manager, took care of this by cleaning the seat himself, getting on his knees to use a professional cleaner (not sold to the public) and rub the stains out. I was clearly amazed at the effectiveness of the product, and as a gesture of goodwill and generosity, he said, "As you can see on the bottle, it says not for retail sale. However, it doesn't say anything about giving it for free", to which he handed me the bottle. I was clearly surprised and pleased that he would do this, and I wanted all you other yelpers to know how exceptional the customer service is here. Even if you don't have a lowered sports car, please don't hesitate to purchase a lifetime alignment from Tom and know your car will be in excellent hands. Even though it is 90 miles round trip for me to come here for alignment, I will make sure to do it for my cars, as I know it is worth the time and gas to get it right. read more

Wow, this place is really great! Stopped in for a free code scan because I had a service light glowing on my dashboard. They gave me my scan, and told me what was wrong without trying to upsell me anything. Then they quoted me a fairly reasonable price, if/when I decided to make the repairs. (They were also upfront about how urgent said repairs were.) I love this place! I'm definitely going to come back to Wheel Works for all my future oil changes and car repairs. A shop is only as good as its techs in my opinion. In the case of the Livermore's Wheel Works location, I cannot say enough about how good Austin, Alex, and Haley are. I'm super particular about who mounts and balances my tires, as I generally tend to buy more expensive wheels for my cars. That being said, I really have no choice but to be extremely particular about who mounts them and more specifically what precautions they take to make sure they don't accidentally damage them in the process. Alex and Austin allow me to tape up the wheel lips (something other shops object to for no reason), and place towels on the wheel lips when mounting the tires to prevent scuffing. If you mention to them that you're particular about these sorts of things, they'll make sure to take extra care of your wheels which is something that's actually quite rare at your typical chain tire shops. Anyone can sell you tires, mount them, and send you on your way. Finding the meticulous techs that actually care -- that's the tricky part. read more

Great service. Staff was very accommodating even during their busy hours. Great financing service credit card offers. Staff were honest and went straight to the point. Didn't get the "you need this this and this talk." Went in for new tires got a rotation and was recommended to do so when changing vehicle tires. Lifetime tire rotation, love it! Never ever coming back here nor will I recommend this place of business! Made an appointment to get an oil change 1 week in advance for Monday morning. Came in on Monday and they said sorry can you reschedule because we won't be able to have your car serviced today because of sick call ins. That was fine and I totally understood so made the appointment for the following day on Tuesday. Came in on Tuesday and same thing happened! I was still patient, and rescheduled for today (wednesday) and before I rescheduled I asked the manager if he was sure my car would get serviced if I come back the following day and he said yes because they didn't have many service reservations on Wednesday. Wednesday, which is the THIRD day I've come back with a SCHEDULED reservation and SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN! This time, the THIRD TIME, I'm not so patient because yes I understand employees call in sick and staffing is limited, but if you know a customer has been inconvenienced for 3 days in a row then they should AT LEAST call the customer and let them know the situation. They gave no apologies just more EXCUSES! Bad management and horrible service! NEVER EVER COMING BACK AND GIVING YOU MY BUSINESS AGAIN! AND, I HAD to rate 1 star to post this review. very pleased with this place. Had my daughter go by to check her car- and they were very honest with her- told her she didn't even need an oil change! So I took my car there, and was very pleased with the service. I really appreciate that they'll check your engine light signs for free. That's so nice. I will be a regular customer here. read more

The staff at wheel works is verg friendly. I had to swap tires and change brakes on my car and they assisted me with the order. I was also approved for a 6 month interest free card to be used at wheel works and it helps me with keeping my car maintained; while making low monthly payments with no interest. I do recommend that you check wheelworks.net specials before bringing your car. You could save a lot of money if you do so. You can even ask the staff for any special discounts n they will look it up for you. They had applied a discount the first few times i did service without me asking. But this last time they missed it. Thus it might be nice to ask for one if you dont see applied to your work order And of course they are way cheaper than dealer services. read more
