When my bike was ready for pickup, I received both a text and a voicemail from Wheel World. Shockingly, the voicemail began with, "I don't know if this guy is retarded or his parents are," before mocking the pronunciation of my name. Why the employee, Rowan, chose to leave this message on my voicemail is beyond comprehension. I immediately called the shop to report the harassment and was told the manager was not in. The next day, I went in person and was informed that Rowan had been told not to come in that day. While I appreciated that small step, I assumed the owner would do the right thing--offer an apology or even a small gesture, like a modest discount, to acknowledge how unacceptable this was. Instead, I was met with silence and a full-price bill. Had there been any genuine apology or acknowledgment of how disturbing this was, I wouldn't be writing this review. But the complete lack of accountability from management left me feeling as disrespected by their inaction as by the voicemail itself. read more

Wheel World is one of the shadiest, most unprofessional businesses I've ever dealt with. I dropped top dollar on my electric bike here, thinking I was supporting a legit shop. You'd expect loyalty like that to mean they treat you with respect. Instead, they treated me like a criminal -- in front of my 10-year-old son. I went back to have my bike set up tubeless. The mechanic told me my Alex MD23 rims "might work" tubeless. Not "yes, it will," not "no, it won't," but might. That should've been my red flag, but I trusted their word. I paid for the job, and within 12 hours the tire was flat. Completely failed. They took my money for something they weren't even confident would work. That's not service, that's a scam. But the biggest insult wasn't even the bad service -- it was what happened when I tried to pay. Their system declined my card. It wasn't my fault, it was on their end. Instead of just telling me to run it again, they escalated it to the extreme: they called the cops. While I was standing in the shop with my kid, police officers came in pretending to look at bikes. When I walked outside, the cops had parked in a way that blocked my car like I was about to make a getaway. Eventually, the payment went through -- proving it was THEIR mistake, not mine. Think about that. A customer who already spent thousands of dollars at their shop, standing there with his child, treated like a thief because their system glitched. No apology. No accountability. Just humiliation and intimidation. That is beyond shady -- that's predatory. Wheel World will happily take your money, gamble with your repairs, and then throw you under the bus if anything goes wrong. If you want honest service and basic human decency, avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of bike shops that won't scam you, won't humiliate you in front of your family, and won't call the police on you because of their own mistakes. Do not come to this place. Bought our kids bikes here years ago and wanted to come back to size them up to a new set. Called and spoke with Rowan. Said we wanted to look at bikes and had questions. Said we would be there 25m before close. He said you can't buy a bike in that much time and was rude I said ok but maybe we can just look and he was still deterring us. I convinced my kids to just go look and buy later. We walked in and he came up and asked if we need help. I said I'm looking for bikes for my kids. He asked if I was the one who called and I said yes. He then waved us to look at the bikes ourselves saying they are behind on closing and he can't help us. Despicably rude and unprofessional. If they don't value your business then it's not worth your time. Terrible shop. Leaving now 20m before close and they refuse to help. Repeat customer ready to buy two bikes right now. The old Trek Woodland Hills shop did quality work with a one-day turnaround. I like these guys, but I don't want to leave my bike for a week every time I need it worked on. Horrible Experience. Never again. Bought new brakes... unridable. Screeching so loud you can hear me 3 blocks away. Unridable. And it took 2 months on order to get them. Paid to have my wheels "trued". They wobble and had to take it to a real bike shop to tune it. Bought a new back inner tube. When I picked the bike up from the shop they had to pump up the new tire.. it wasn't holding air. All this on the same ticket. Then on the phone they tried to tell me it's my fault. We spent over $12,000 on three bikes from them. And they want to charge us another $100 because of a known problem that they didn't notify us about when removing the safety end caps off of the front wheel hubs when unpacking them. They knew about this problem. There is no warning in the box. They've had problem over and over with customers I recently found out. Absolutely love this shop. Purchased a bike from them a couple years ago and the experience was great as was the experiences I had when needing fixes done. Just purchased my second bike from them as I was wanting an upgrade. They answered my questions and allowed me to try a few different bikes to see what the best fit would be. I've literally spent thousands of dollars at this place and they can't even respond back to a simple email I sent them. They will try and blame covid for the slow service but the truth is they know they are in a city with millions of people and if they don't get your business they will get someone else's business. Loyalty means nothing to them. Update 7-7-20 I've updated them to 1 star now because the owner sent an "apology". He blamed it on being so busy. Your so busy that you can respond to negative yelp reviews within a few days of their post but can't respond to a message sent a month ago. My daughter and I took her bike in to find a more comfortable seat, and Armando not only adjusted the existing seat, solving the problem, but he gave the bike a quick check, adjusting a few minor things to make it safer. In the past few weeks, I have had to take my son to this place twice because of flats. The employees could not identify the issue or how the tire got flat, but replaced it at a fair price. However, they failed to mention that the tube that he was using could have issues in his wheel. He ended up getting two more flats, both in the same way, because the tube seemed to be incompatible. As a result we were charge twice for the repair. 2 days after, he got another flat. We went to the Santa Monica cycling and they properly identified the issue and replaced the flat. I do like this store's selection of bikes but they don't let you test, which is another minus. read more

This is an amazing business and the staff are awesome! I presented them with a strange problem. The arm lock button on my old walker broke, making it impossible to close and open the side arm. Since the side arm was now locked open, I couldn't get it in or out of my car and it was now unusable. Luckily the manufacturer had a replacement part, and suggested I contact a bike shop to try to do the tricky repair. I was able to get the walker into Wheel World, showed them the impossible seeming situation and asked if they could perform a miracle! Simon looked it over, and said he thought they could do it. He asked me to leave the walker and, no promises, but he'd see what they could do. I left the walker, not really believing that this difficult repair could be done! The next day, I called to ask if they'd had a chance to check out the problem and knew if a repair was possible. Justin informed me with great delight that my walker was done and waiting for pickup! Wheel World accomplished the impossible! They pulled off a miracle! And they were as pleased and happy to have helped me as I was to have my old walker back again! These people didn't just brush off a difficult situation. They were persistent and invested in solving the problem and they were really happy to have been able to help me. Simon in particular was determined to fix the problem. So "Thank you, Wheel World" for an amazing accomplishment! I can't praise your business enough or recommend you highly enough. Found a good deal on my bike. They have free first time tune up and free break alignment so I brought in the bike for the first service. Intake was smooth but it took 4 days to get my bike back. Since is brand new bike and rode about 2 hours, I wouldn't expect anything extra. They charged me saying one part is bented. They treated me like I've never seen the bike and never been to the shop before. Simply I asked them if this is defected and is there warranty. They keep saying it's bented and they don't care if it is defect or not. Feels like they run the business like bad auto mechanics for over charging and adding no needed item. read more

The salesmen / staff are not very nice, they give an attitude. I had my bike serviced there, problem with my seat dropper, told me it was the cable, I paid $120.00 for the repair, still had the problem, sent it out for warranty repair, charged me for that labor as well. I think that what set me off is, I bought my bike on line from Specialized, Wheel World had zero stock, had it shipped to them to build, they build it, installed their sticker on it, during my last service, they pulled off. I asked about it, they claim not knowing anything about it. I would suggest if you want to go to a place with attitude, go there, if you you want to pay twice for the same repair, go there. So, true story. I bought a bike from this bike shop back in July and have been meaning to write a review ever since and...er...just forgot? It's not because they didn't deserve this review back then, but because I honestly forgot. That's what happens when you get older! Anyway, I bought a bike from Mike, a very nice young man, every easy on the eyes (no, not cougaring, just pointing out the obvious). He gave me a great deal on a Live Tempt 3 (seriously, best deal I was offered on Liv and Trek bikes when out shopping), ordered the bike, and had it all ready to go as promised a day later. When I arrived to pick it up and buy a whole bunch of other stuff, he and a younger version of him, Caitlen, were very attentive. I kept having to come back to the shop that day for various reasons, but their smiles and customer serviced never waned. The shop itself is very nice, has plenty of choices, and they will price match except with Performance (can't blame them on that one!). I applied for and received their 12 month, 0% APR card and now I'm going to have to hide it so that I don't blow the full credit! They have a large parking lot in the back and they're right off the 101 FWY, between Shoup and Fallbrook. This is now my new shop and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I brought in my electric bicycle for a basic tuneup. There were a couple of minor things that needed repair and they took care of those. They did a fair job of cleaning up the bike but it was acceptable. I took the bike home and when I went to place the key in the lock to remove the battery THE ENTIRE LOCK MOVED BACKWARD INTO THE BATTERY PACK. It had been properly positioned until I tried to put in the key. Then I noticed the plastic piece next to the lock was broken off. It looked like someone had dropped the battery pack then shoved the lock back into place. The first time I called I was assured they would take a look at it and get it taken care of. After a lengthy speech about how they are the best bike shop anywhere, I was told they would call me after speaking with a mechanic. I called a couple of days later ~ no mechanic was available. The same thing with the 3rd and 4th time I called. I've never heard from them again. But they were happy to keep my $150. read more

Covid sucks, wheel world is awesome. Right now sourcing parts is harder than ever, most large online distributors of parts pretty much horde items like people did with toilet paper & hand sanitizer. Thankfully for these guys they do more than just provide parts. I've been shopping with them for a few years now and honestly I have yet to find a better place. Not ragging on other shops when I come here it feels different. I've stepped into trek and specialized shops and it's just this almost corporate like feeling where you're in a car dealership. Wheel world isn't my home, but in terms of a bike shop this place does have a slightly similar feeling. It wasn't until I got a chance to really talk to the guys here that I noticed. Totally recommend this place for everything from kiddie bikes to e-bikes that ride like magic carpets.
