After looking at reviews on Yelp!, I decided to give this place a try (I'd previously used a closer nearby bike shop in Woodland Hills for another repair, but saw a few reviews that suggested it was time to give another shop a try). And to be honest, this wasn't even the bike shop I thought it was (I spotted another one nearby when running errands and thought this was it, but it I wasn't), but after reading positive Yelp! reviews I decided to give JB Bike Shop a shot, so called to ask how to proceed with my desired repair (I have an old ProFlex 3000 K2 mountain bike which I crashed a year ago on Topanga Cyn Blvd on a fast descent after suffering a rear tire blowout, and somehow managed to get the tire and tube wedged in the frame, meaning the metal wheel was permanently trashed after grinding down on the asphalt (a few spokes were broken and the edge of wheel had a few inches removed), with me having a bad case of road rash as a memento. When I recovered, I decided to get back on the horse that threw me, and realized I had the same-sized rear wheel on my old GT idrive 6.0, so transplanted it to my K2, taking the 8-cog cassette off of it and putting my 7-cog cartridge onto the wheel). But after another problem arose (brake pads needed to be replaced and since I was blinded in one eye about 20 years ago, what used to be an easy repair isn't so easy...), I decided it was high time to consult the pros and get both bikes back into rideable shape. So I called JB shop talked to Antonio, who said he'd give me a quote if I brought my bike in, so I did (BTW, they have free off-street parking behind the shop, and meters for those willing to park on Sherman Way or Alabama St). Antonio gave me a decent quote for the job so I said let's do it. He called me later that same day to tell me he found another problem (which I had suspected but forgot to mention: a rear broken axle on my transplanted wheel apparently was the cause of play in the rear wheel at low speeds, which I noticed recently as instability, but didn't register what was causing it and didn't even mention to him). Fortunately he was able to repair the axle of the wheel to avoid cost of needing to replace it, so was honest and trustworthy (a less-reputable repair shop might've taken advantage of a customer by telling them it couldn't be repaired, but Antonio obviously didn't do that). That rear wheel is now back on my organ donor GT (which I knew needed a new right shifter, too, and Antonio was able to replace it for a good price). When I picked up my bike the next day, it was cleaned, fully-lubed and road-ready, with a new rear wheel installed, my old hub packed and cassette put on a new wheel (and the wheel is a nice black color, so aesthetically better). Of course, since I ride daily on old dirt Mulholland Road, it's not going to stay clean for long, but it's nice to see the original paint again. As a retired doc, I know customer service is the key to success in ANY business, and Antonio and his staff are friendly, communicate well, and professional, so earn my highest recommendation! read more

I'm 71 years old. And look pretty good I guess considering my age. I ride a bike everywhere and have for more than 50 years. Closer to 60. In all that time, JB2 Bike shop is my favorite destination for bicycles and maintenance. Antonio and his sons...Antonio 2 and I forgot his other son's name...are wonderful. Polite, professional and really good at what they do. They're also very reasonable when it comes to pricing as well. And they can fix anything and quickly too. It's really a gem this little independently owned and operated bike shop in the heart of Canoga Park. I go sometimes just to visit with Antonio and his family. Great place. I've purchased a few bikes from them. And I take all my bikes there for tuneups or any other maintenance that might be needed. As I said, this little shop is a real gem. I was exploring the legendary bike trails of the San Fernando Valley and was down to one meager greenlight, and a flailing left crank arm. Chat/GPT had no options for me, and basically laid the scenario out that I was looking at a long walk home to Sherman Oaks. I brought my 40 year old 10 speed in to get repairs done. It's in great condition but a lot of bike shops would turn up their noses at such a relic and try to sell you a new one. The man who worked on the bike-- I believe he was the owner-- did a great job tuning up my bike and got it running like it was brand new and it didn't even cost that much. I am very happy with their work and when I do new to buy a new bike for a present for one of my children, I'll know where to go. read more

This place is terrific! I called several bike shops trying to get a wheel replaced on son's 1975 classic road bike. The gut at JB was the only person I talked to who was knowledgeable about more than the current models. And he didn't try to upsell me which, by the time I got to calling JB Bikes, was most appreciated. They even got the job done in record time for me. I came to this place to just align my front rim on my bike, but the person offered to do a service for the entire bike which would charge me $100 plus $25 for the alignment. After a few days of using it I realize that in reality they just did a bad job the tire was still misaligned the rear brake was sticking all the time apart from squeaking at certain speeds and when I returned to this place they only told me that I need to change parts to solve the problem, that means they just took my money zero stars for this place I do not recommend it read more

After replacing my cassette and chain six months ago my bike shop said I needed to replace them again. I decided to take my bike to JB. After explaining to Antonio my situation I left it there. He called me the next morning and affirmed my suspicions. It turned out to be my worn out derailer. He even tuned up my hydraulic seatpost and asked if I'd like my old parts. What a great shop!! I brought in a bike I found in storage that had a flat. They immediately took it in and fixed her up, put air in the other tire and even cleaned her up for me. $10 labor $7 tube Less than $20 to get her up and running smooth. In and out in less than 20mins! I don't have much bike experience, I'm pretty clueless, but they made me feel so comfortable & were extremely nice. This place you can tell, they really love bikes and working on bikes. They have a little shop to do full tune ups (flush the hoses, lube everything up, etc) for $75 or help you with any bike needs. They will even assemble a new bike for you if you bring it in (I think $40). They sell new bikes ranging from $250, average is $400 I even saw a super professional one for over $3k!! They have cruisers, bmx, Mountain bikes, road bikes you name it and plenty of accessories. Not a huge huge bike selection but definetly a good selection for all. The mechanic even gave me a free tool for the pedal!! Very kind and generous gesture. Most importantly they'll tell you an honest and informative info when it comes to needing a parts replacement. Warning! I bought a new Aventon bike through JB Bike Shop for my son for his birthday & for his good grades. I was directed to them by the Aventon website after doing online research. My son also traded in his old bike and got $200 which he put the money to the new bike. That was the agreement to purchase the bike. Everything was great to start. The bike & service was also great until I started receiving texts/emails directly by Aventon claiming a big sales drop. . Literally "5 days"after purchase the bike went down in price $200. Aventon & JB both WOULD NOT HONOR the price drop or accommodate any type of resolution. Not even a complimenary accessory. Nothing! Imagine that? Screwing over a young kid with just selfish business practices. My son is so disappointed. He basically gave away his old bike for free. This was alot of money to him and towards this purchase. Aventon on there website has a 14 day promotional policy if you buy through them, they would honor certain promotions after purchase. Jb being a 3rd party authorized store only cared about the money here and not standing up for whats "right" on behalf of the customer. I just left this bike shop and am just floored over the friendly help and absolute mad ability to help this mom in distress!! I purchased an escooter for my kid. She had been wheelchair bound for two years but therapy is giving her back her life. I wanted her to have mobility outside of a wheelchair and bought our first escooter. We had no idea it had a flat tire. These gentlemen took my early morning call. They told me that they didn't really work on escooters but said it was okay to drop by. They have the same quality items costing much less money. Also, I brought my Tesla in for a bike rack and the guy went out of his way to come out and show me how it goes on the car and spent time reviewing a video with me so I would understand how it worked. Antonio and the other employees here are absolutely awesome! They're extremely kind, informative, and really above and beyond for great service. I needed a full tune-up a few months ago, as well as replace my brake lever hoods, and they were able take the bike in right away. Sadly for me, the hoods I have are hard to come by so they had to special order them and it took months for them to arrive, longer than we all anticipated. They kept in touch and continued to reach out to keep me in the loop and for the inconvenience later hooked me up with the hoods. I had a few other things pop up during a ride after the tune up and they were quick to help again. I'll definitely be taking my bike here for future needs and recommend them if you're in need. read more

They tried to sell me a used bike for $170 when brand new in the Internet it was $70 I actually believed him and paid, and then my daughter suggested me to look into the Internet and I found the same exact bike brand new for 70 bucks from the original brand store. Was so bummed. Got a flat on the nearby La river bike trail and found these guys were a .5 mile walk away. Didn't have my wallet but they accept Apple Pay. And even had a thorn resistant presta valve tube. They swapped out tube, a new tire, adjusted my brakes and even has a kickstand that fit my weird specialized aluminum frame.
