The best. We wish we could eat here more often. The food is so so good. The takeout process went super smooth. Everything was packaged well and was still warm when we got home. The service was quick and timely, it was easy to place the order

Not knowing what to expect our first time ever hearing of this restaurant we left glad we came. Our server was very friendly and attentive to all of our needs, paired along with the atmosphere of a local sitting on a barstool playing guitar, it doesn't get much better. Finally the food was something to certainly write home about, most notably the smoked potato salad! We will be back our next time through the area for sure..

My husband and I went golfing nearby and stopped here at random. It was unexpectedly amazing! I got the smoked salmon sandwich and he ordered a "build your own" mac and cheese bowl. It looks like they do small bands and maybe outdoor events. The server was also the bartender the day we went and they were very kind and efficient.

It does pay to get out of ones way. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious BBQ with truly elevated sides. Definitely coming back for more

Great local bar! Loved listening to live music, eating good barbecue, and having a great time. They had my favorite Arsenal Cider on draft, which was awesome too. The servers were all kind and helpful. Good came out very quickly but we also weren't rushed. Highly recommend!

Was suddenly in the mood for brisket and checked around to see what was around and realized we hadn't been back to Wheelfish in a long time. We used to live closer and then it fell off our radar after we moved. I went with the two meat platter with brisket, white meat chicken, sweet potato fries and corn bread. Delicious all around. The chicken ended up being my favorite. I was expecting it to be dry but it was perfect. Brisket was also great. Table had a choice of three sauces for the meats. People often post about those sweet potato fries and I have to agree they were a solid choice. Service was on point. We got a table quickly and our server was very attentive. Space itself is kind of cool. Kind of like being in a barn. Lots of wood. The smell of meat smoking outside the building was intoxicating.

Really great barbeque in the North Hills! It's tucked back in an unassuming location, though easily accessed from McKnight or Ross residential roads. I visited on a Friday night and managed to snag the last table in the main dining area prior to live music starting. My husband and I both were impressed by the reasonable prices and the cozy ambiance right off the bat, and we were quickly visited by our server. We tried two apps (deep fried deviled eggs and cheese curds), both were excellent, and my husband tried the 2-meat combo while I tried the pulled pork nachos for dinner. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Very smokey flavor, very generous portions, all accompanied by great local folk music. We also loved the 2.50 Yuengling on tap! They also offer local craft beer and Boyd and Blair cocktails, which is nice. I'd love to return for more live music and to try more of the menu! The sandwiches look great, as does the mac & cheese. Lucky to have this hidden gem spot nearby, especially given that BBQ as a cuisine is so sparse in Pittsburgh!

Good food, nice service, definitely will be back! We came here on a Saturday for lunch and arrived shortly after they opened. They weren't overly busy, so was able to be seated quickly. We started with the nachos and their giant pretzel! The chips tasted like they were homemade. For my main, I had the pulled pork sandwich and Mac n cheese. Both were very good. I had the medium bbq sauce on it- delicious! Food came out fairly quick. Overall, I really liked this place. Felt like a hidden gem and I enjoyed the rustic feel inside.

Pretty standard BBQ spot. I wasn't particularly impressed with any of the items I got from here, but then again, it's Pittsburgh BBQ. Perhaps some of their other meat is better, but what I had was substandard. I tried the 1/4 lb of pulled pork with Mac n cheese and fries. The pulled pork was just okay. Price for the portion for about average. Definitely better deals in other places but not terrible. The meat was somewhat dry and the sauce wasn't anything too special. Some fattier pieces but mostly leanish. The fries were a bit soggy but decently seasoned. They went well with the same sauce they gave for the pork. I would have liked more of the sauce, as that's were most of the flavor in this meal was coming from. The Mac n cheese was also just okay. It had a sort of artificial taste to it. The little bit of breadcrumbs on top seemed just like an afterthought, as there wasn't much of them. Somewhat oily. All in all, I wasn't a huge fan of this place. It wasn't bad, but not great either. Wouldn't really see myself returning here.

Amazing food, incredible experience, and really enjoyed the live music! We had Kylee serve us- and she went above and beyond to everything we needed with great attitude. We loved everything about this place. Also, the gluten free beer was GREAT!!!!!! So many gluten free/celiac options, too. Super homey, Yellowstone feel to the restaurant. Would highly recommend.

I stopped here for a quick bite and it was very good. I tried their tacos. I got one fish taco and one brisket taco and they were both very good. You also get a side with that and I tried the beans. They were a little too sweet for me but that did not keep me from finishing them. The service was very good. This would be a good place to go in the summer as it looks like they have a nice eating area outside. I would definitely go back to try some of their other bbq items.

I am always a fan of places that support live music. How I never ever heard of this place until my friend from NYC played here April 2023 is beyond me. I had zero idea this placed existed & it is tucked away in residential area in Ross Twp. It has a lot of regulars by the looks of things. Lots of BBQ choices. Tap & bottled beer & cocktails. I had my burger made into a wrap & subbed sweet potato fries. It was good. The bar was busy & bartenders & servers were busy all night. I'm glad my friends from NYC got a good crowd for their gig. It is very LOUD inside, even without music & the volume of people talking made the music difficult to hear. Gravel parking lot & looks like outdoor seats when weather warms. I'd definitely go back.

Really enjoyed wheelfish this past weekend with some friends. I got the wheelfish sandwich--pulled pork, brisket, bacon, honey mustard, etc. the flavors were great and the portion of fries was huge! I'm not sure what the dipping sauce was--I couldn't put my finger on the flavors but I was not a fan. My husband got some brisket and ribs, unfortunately, neither of which were all that impressed with either. Not enough flavor/smokiness for our liking. His corn muffin was delicious, as was the mac and cheese. The restaurant itself was clean, had a fun vibe, and the service was attentive and helpful. The music was extremely loud, which made it difficult to chat with our friends, however our 1.5 year old son really enjoyed it and was dancing in his seat. Haha!

Beautiful outdoor covered patio and extensive menu of BBQ options!!…read more We stopped for a weekend Brunch around 10:30 and the place was still completely empty! The hostess stand is a bit of a farce - the employees seemed to hope that people would just seat themselves. Even when we were greeted - they said to just pick your own seat anyway! The decor is pretty cool. I'm partial to the stacked wood for the smoker as you enter, but the rustic feel of everything made the vibe come alive. With the smoker right next to the patio, the wonderful smell of the barbecue permeated the entire restaurant. The brunch menu was just as extensive as their lunch/dinner menu. We grabbed two coffees - which seems like a rarity - as they brought sugar and milk in little dipping sauce cups. The candied bacon was a MUST. 6 slices of thick cut bacon drizzled in brown sugar for only $6. Walter's Benedict with Pork Belly will stalk my dreams... the flavorful crust charred to the fork tender pork belly casually laying on the buttery, crispy chive biscuit smothered in the perfect hollandaise is the brunch you dream of but never really comprehend. Brisket Hash was unfortunately a nightmare though. The menu doesn't inform you that the brisket will be chip chopped into fine dust and coated in hot sauce. It was so spicy that it was almost inedible and the 1/4" of oil under the potatoes and eggs proved that even the hot sauce felt like crying. In all, the amazing waitresses and cool setting outweigh the one menu issue! We will be back!

Off the Rails Barbeque and Drafthouse is a local, family-owned and -operated restaurant…read morethat serves barbecued meats, sides, sandwiches, alcoholic beverages, and more for lunch, dinner, and catering for dining in, pickup, and delivery. Their website says that they use ingredients from local farms and suppliers and make their foods fresh daily. Outside the restaurant are the smokers that they use to slow-cook the meats. The brisket and pork are said to be smoked for 12-14 hours. My husband and I ate at this restaurant years ago, but for some reason my previous review is not here. We liked Off the Rails then and still like it. Most recently, we ordered the BBQ Sampler Platter, which consisted of a 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pound of pulled pork, 1/2 pound of pulled chicken, 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs, and choice of three sides. I rate the flavors of each of these meats at 5 stars and the flavors of the mac-n-cheese, baked beans, and crispy Brussels sprouts as 4.5 stars each. The pulled pork and pulled chicken came with three bread buns to make sandwiches. I saw three house-made sauces--Carolina Gold, Kansas City, and Lexington-style Mop--and they tasted very good. The ribs were not pull-off-the-bone, but they were probably the first batch of the day. We had arrived 40 minutes after their opening time. An employee had tried to get us to substitute the ribs with another meat, but we instead decided to wait about 20 minutes for the ribs to be done. We also ordered Smoked Fried Wings, which have many available dry rubs and sauces, but we got the house seasoning with no sauce. An employee said a chupacabra rub. These wings tasted fantastic and were the best food of our meal. We LOVED their crispy and delightfully seasoned skin and their juicy insides. I do not have a receipt, but the total price for our foods and one soda should have been just under $100 plus a tip. We had leftovers and put those in large and small plastic containers that I had brought from home. (Other reviewers said that customers are not allowed to take home leftovers, but we went on a day with no special prices, and we had enough leftovers for two more meals at home!) We loved the wings so much that on "wing night" a few days later, we returned for the wings and some other sides. On Wednesdays the restaurant charges only $1 per wing. We ordered the allowed maximum of 6 wings, which we again LOVED, as well as spicy collard greens (4 stars), coleslaw (with little dressing, 3.5 stars), and cornbread (4.5 stars). Note that live music is played on certain days of the week.

I ordered the Spicy Yardbird Chicken Sandwich, and before handing it over, I was warned: "On a scale of 1 to 10, it's an 11." As someone who appreciates real heat, that immediately had my attention. What impressed me most was the balance. The spice doesn't hit instantly--it builds. Within moments, my hairline was sweating, but the heat never overwhelmed the flavor. The sauce delivered a serious kick while still remaining rich, layered, and incredibly well-rounded. The chicken itself was outstanding: fried fresh to order, beautifully golden brown, and clearly prepared with care. The breast was massive, yet still tender and juicy throughout, which is not always easy to pull off with fried chicken sandwiches of this size. I greatly regret having to write this review. I contacted Two Brothers Barbeque some time ago to…read morecater my wedding. Initially, I had a wonderful experience. The individual I worked with, Terri, was initially responsive and accommodating and made me feel at ease about booking this business. I put down a deposit in early November. Later in November I reached out for some more information to aid in the planning of my wedding reception. However, I never heard back. I was not unduly concerned because this is a barbeque business and I thought this might be their "off-season". I assumed they would get back to me when they were able. I did not hear back from Two Bothers Barbeque, even when springtime rolled around, so I called them a couple of times. I did not hear back. At this point, I got concerned because our wedding was in only three months. I was eager to speak to them to have some questions answered. My fiancé suggested we drive to the business, so we could connect with them. When we drove to the business, we were rather dismayed to see many signs stating "Business for Sale." There was a phone number on one of the "For Sale" signs, so I called it and said that I had seen their "For Sale" signs and was interested in talking about this. At this time, I did not tell them my name or state that I was a client. I got a return call pretty immediately. When I received the call-back, I explained that I had emailed and called the business without hearing back, and that I was concerned that the business was for sale, as we were counting on them catering our wedding. The gentleman on the phone (the owner, I believe) said they were retiring and were winding down the business, but that they planned to honor all scheduled events. He said he would have Terri call me. I was extremely relieved - but only for a short while. Terri called after several minutes. I explained the situation to her. I told her that I was concerned because I hadn't received a response to my email or phone calls and then saw that the business was for sale. She said that the catering part of the business was for sale, as well as their food trucks, but they would still honor their contracts for the summer. However, she then said she would just refund my money if I was uncomfortable. I was taken aback - I had said nothing about cancelling the contract and was really just nervous about the prospect of the business being sold. I received no kind of apology for the lack of communication. Terri said that she hadn't responded to my email in November because I sent it too close to Thanksgiving and that she never received my phone calls. At some point during this conversation, Terri became quite hostile, raising her voice and becoming accusatory. She blamed me for the lack of contact and did not take responsibility for failing to respond. The situation became truly unsettling; in fact, may I say, deeply shocking. Terri did say that she had some medical concerns, which I do sympathize with. However, I have had a number of medical issues, some of them quite serious, and I have never treated a client this way. Ultimately, I stated that she could cancel the booking and send the refund, which was what she appeared to want to do in the first place. It really seemed like she did not care too much about the business or leaving us in a precarious position of having no caterer for our wedding. I left the phone call truly bewildered and told my fiancé I was sorry and that I had lost the caterer for our wedding. He said, "You shouldn't be sorry. You did absolutely nothing wrong." (He had been listening to this conversation.) We went home and brainstormed new possibilities, and, luckily, found another local business that was more than willing to cater for us. They have been a dream to work with. I know this review probably does not matter because Two Brothers is retiring from catering, but it is important that people be careful when dealing with this company. If you have a current date booked with them, please considering making a back-up plan. I'm not sure this business cares to uphold its promises, nor does it take responsibility for its own actions. Please be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

I tried to order online but it wouldn't let me order ribs from a rib place. Tried to call but "dial…read moreone for this, two for that..." didn't lead to a human answering the phone . Gave up .

Fellow Yelpers, thank you very much for writing reviews about this restaurant so that I would be…read moreinspired to try it out! :) I guess that this restaurant is actually called Off the Rails Barbeque. Their menu includes entrees such as ribs, brisket, and pulled pork as well as appetizers such as nachos, fries, and macaroni that are topped with the meats. Sides include baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, collard greens, and potato chips. My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. An employee immediately greeted us and gave us menus to look at. She told us that we could sit at any table of our liking. Many tables were available inside and outside, and I appreciated that the walls were open for fresh ventilation. We ordered our appetizers, and the employee told us that ribs would not be available to order for another half hour, so we waited for them. Our loaded nachos and loaded fries were topped with similar ingredients of shredded meat, jalapeno peppers, gooey cheese, and a sauce. The ingredients were fresh, and we enjoyed the flavors. Our half rack of ribs were tender, and they had a tasty seasoning that my husband wanted a little more of.

Came in with a massive group--30+ people, all ordering individually--and I was fully expecting…read moredelays, confusion, and cold food. Instead, this was hands down the fastest large-group dinner I've ever had. Orders moved quickly, food came out hot, and nothing felt chaotic. For a group this size, that level of execution is genuinely impressive. Let's be clear: this is not Texas-style, 18-hour, smoke-ring BBQ--and it's not trying to be. What they do well is consistency and customization. You get six different sauces, and they actually ask whether you want your meat lean and dry or juicy. I went juicy, and my portions were flavorful, tender, and satisfying. I ordered the beef brisket and pulled pork, and also tried the pulled pork sandwich. Solid across the board. They were out of the cream corn (bummer), the mac and cheese was fine and comforting, and the cornbread was excellent--classic, slightly sweet, and the clear standout. This is BBQ built for scale: fast, reliable, and crowd-friendly. If you're feeding a large group and want everyone served quickly, with options and no drama, Mission BBQ absolutely delivers--even if it's not chasing smoke-ring perfection.

We've gotten there 3 times now for their catering service and was impressed each time. The food was hot and fresh each time. Portions were good size. All the meat was cooked great! There choices includes ribs, ( of course ) Pulled pork, chicken, brisket, turkey, sausage, burgers and salmon. There are a wide variety of sauces for every palate. Some mild and some spicy but all the ones I've tried are tasty. The sides were also very good! Mac and cheese and bacon green beans were my favorites but other sides include baked beans, French fries, collard greens, cold slaw and a couple seasonal items. The prices are decent but I was impressed with their commitment to veterans charities. I'll pay more to help those who serve our country! The Army Truck out front is very cool and it's their mobile smoker truck for large events The inside of the store has a warm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Definitely feel like you're ready to enjoy some homemade delicious BBQ. Definitely recommended if you're hungry for some delicious scratch BBQ.
