To stay…read moreby the side of our elderly dog, we are foregoing the experience of dining out, more and more. After we finished eating, she remarked we needed to visit the restaurant sometime. We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

One of them was carrying a huge amount of plates to the entrance and dropped them and yelled a big FUCK. Then ran back inside and came back stomping and repeating fuck. As well they are very misleading, they don't have actual crab as they announce on their social media outlets. Attached a menu. I ordered a soda and the whole glass was filled to the top of tiny ice cubes and the soda was flat, wonder why???? I left after ordering the appetizer and went to a different restaurant. Please just save your time and not visit this establishment.

We ordered a dozen large which they were not able to fill so they threw in a bunch of extra mediums beyond the dozen! They provide paper for the table, and all the fixings if requested. The crabs were cooked perfectly and quite dense for being so early in the season. The Cole slaw was fresh, creamy with a nice crunch, and the cocktail shrimp were on point. It was a bit pricey compared to others outside DC and Annapolis but it is NW DC. Will 100 percent be visiting again soon. Have to support local businesses at this time!

From the initial planning stages through the end of the event, the team was incredibly attentive, organized, and easy to work with. The food was absolutely spectacular--beautifully presented and consistently delicious across the board. We received so many compliments from our guests about the quality and variety. What truly set Opal apart, though, was the service. The staff was professional, warm, and seamlessly managed a large group without missing a beat. Every detail was handled with care, allowing us to fully enjoy the evening and focus on our guests. Hosting an event of this size can be stressful, but Opal made it feel effortless. We're so grateful for their partnership in making our auction such a success and would highly recommend them for any large event or special occasion.

Nice mix of salads, soups, burgers, fish, Benedict, we got it all! Drinks- love the bottomless drink option for brunch. Mimosa sangria or margarita, yes please. Space- good lighting, open layout, nice wood and simple decor. Patio is nice too, yet no shade. Service- Juliana was attentive and friendly. Parking was also pretty easy and neighborhood nice to walk around after.

We love supporting the…read moreneighborhood businesses and this has been on our list to try, so we finally gave it a chance yesterday. Upon arrival, we spoke with Omar and he had us go inside to be seated. Upon going inside, there was a taller gentleman with glasses and jewelry who we asked if there was a table available for three. He rudely looked at us and said well I don't know, do you have a reservation. We said no, but there's plenty of vacant tables we see are any available? It took him awhile until Omar came back inside and he showed us a table. After waiting awhile, we observed chaos ensue. There seems to be no clear direction in the front of house except for Omar working to do everything. We waited 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged and asked for a drink order. One person in our group ordered hot tea which took over 20 minutes. We finally placed our food order and it took forever! There seemed to be a backup in preparing entrees and all meals were delayed this evening. However, Omar brought our food over and was very respectful asking if we needed anything else and if he could get us any additional dressings/sauces for our meal. He came back a few times to check in with us, which was great. Prior to leaving for his shift, Omar checked in one final time before leaving and thanked us for coming by. After this, overall service just continued to diminish. We finished our meal and asked every single employee for our check. One gentleman who seemed to be the busier asked the taller gentleman who seemed to be the host/waiter to please get our check and he blew him and us off. We then asked the bartender for our check and asked for it to be separate. He brought it over and plopped it down on the table and said nothing and walked away. So again, I flagged someone down and asked if we could please have separate checks. It took over 30 minutes to get our checks and pay. A 1 hour dinner turned in to 2 and a half hours due to the lack of clear front of house staffing structure and responsibilities and a slow kitchen and food that was just okay but not worth the price. Some items were severely over seasoned while others were not seasoned at all. As for the atmosphere, inside the restaurant is beautiful. However, there is no music at all so you just hear the noise of the kitchen and others talking in the restaurant. If it wasn't for Omar, we probably would have gotten up and left. He is the only one creating a positive experience and actually acknowledging and engaging with customers. Thank you to Omar! A piece of advice, there seems to be a need for front of house staffing to be clearly defined, responsibilities given to each employee, and wait staff sections created and given to waiters to follow.

Wednesday during 4-6 Biscuits are complimentary. They were divine! They split the salad and steak into 2 equal servings for us. They are awaiting their liquor license approval so we brought our own wine and they brought out a wine holder with ice to chill the bottle. The staff was warm and courteous. We were the only patrons in the place. It will be sad if this wonderful restaurant has to close. I often come here to get take-out orders and would encourage people to support this wonderful gem of a restaurant.
