These guys are trash brought my car with a clutch problem, they quoted me for twice the amount any other shop said charged me 60 dollars for the inspection where they mentioned oh a fresh nail in my tire it was still sizzling when I saw it. Be aware if they can't fix your car for good price they just try to make sure it never leaves their lot. I will never take my car there ever and you guys should really think twice if ur little quote is gonna turn into more repairs! read more

I brought my 11 year old car to Wheeling Auto for periodic maintenance and to have some funky noises looked at. They gave us a comprehensive inspection and made recommendations of what needed to be addressed. They were friendly, professional and I never thought I would say this about a mechanic, but very trustworthy. This is the 2nd place that we brought the car to for diagnosis and Wheeling Auto kicked the other place ass. They fixed the problem and the car runs as good as new. These guys are great! Brian and Dave have been very helpful, patient and thorough in explanations and answering my questions. I was a little concerned taking my Jeep anywhere but the dealer, some places struggle with it, because it has a diesel engine. Brian has taken great care of it and it runs great, because of their diligent work. I wish I had come to Wheeling Auto Center years ago! It was also nice to be treated as a person and not spoken down to, either because I'm not a mechanic or due to my gender. The super clean waiting room with a fancy refrigerator and cappuccino maker should have been my first clue that this place was not for me. I took my van here to get new brakes and they quoted me $1241 for a brake job. Now I understand I needed EVERYTHING done on my brakes, but I thought $1241 was insane. I called my uncle who is a mechanic in another state and he said 900 tops without even trying to look for a better deal. I drive a 1999 minivan - come on, that is a quarter of what I paid for it 5 years ago!!! I took it to daves auto clinic in Prospect Heights and they did the brake job for $791 with a loaner for the day!! The people here were nice and they did check everything out, but I only would recommend it if money is not a worry for you. read more

While this was an expensive repair to our mini-van, we knew it needed to be done. I was working out of town and my breaks were giving out. Turns out I had a leak in my rear brake line. They got me in early and I picked it up after a few hours. The leak was fixed but my pedal was very spongy and didn't have good breaking power. I called (Tim) and he said to bring it back in first thing in the morning. They looked it over again and found that I had air in my front brake lines. They got it out and re-bleed all the lines. My cars brakes have more stopping power and more firm break pedal than I have ever had in my car. These guys and girls were super friendly and were willing to get my car in and out and fix anything related to their job at no additional cost. Tim was super nice and their lobby is very nice and comfortable. Their bathrooms were the nicest I have seen in any auto center, ever! Highly recommended. read more

This is the place where you want your car serviced. For service on your vehicle and customer service these guys are the BEST ! The other day I brought my car in and they found my water pump was leaking. They could have just fixed it, like those other fly-by-night places. But, they checked with GM and found it was covered under the power train warranty. They brought it over to the dealer AND picked it up for me. Who the heck does that ? Only Wheeling Auto ! When I picked it up last night, the car was spotless. It was washed to the point where it looked like they detailed it. I'll be your customer till either I move or die. This is such a great place to have your car serviced. They are always so courteous and informative, and they will do warranty work as well. They explain everything and give you options as to what is needed imminently and what services you can wait on.They have loaner cars that you can use, which is great. And, the place is super clean and great to hang out in if you need to wait, with snacks and drinks available for you to enjoy. I had a problem just today with my Honda Odyssey (this huge bottom rubber cover had dropped off after hitting a parking curb and was dragging on the ground). I called Wheeling Auto Center and they said they could look it over and reattach it right away. I got there, they reattached the thing that was hitting the road, with grommets of theirs since mine were broken off, they pushed back my bumper (which my husband had dislocated trying to see what was going on underneath), and, to top it off, when I went to pay, they said, ah, don't worry about it. Who does that these days?? It totally made my day. They didn't charge me at all, just did this repair and got me on my way. They are absolutely super!! It wouldn't start, Dave sent someone to jump him, then noticed error codes so drove the car back to the shop and gave my son a loaner while they analyzed the problem. These guys are the best. Their service is incredible. I have been going to Wheeling auto for several years now. They have a clean comfortable waiting room. They are very professional. This morning I was stranded - my car wouldn't start. I have a Mercedes and I have free roadside assistance but I knew Wheeling auto would be here faster and charge me less for a new battery. I don't think roadside assistance is a regular service offering for them - but they go above and beyond for customers. Highly recommended! My wife and I have been taking our cars to Wheeling Auto Center for the last five years now. All the repairs to our Toyota Sienna and our BMW 740 have been done expertly and within the projected time frame. I am typically offered a loaner. The counter staff is friendly and takes time to explain what is wrong with the car and how to fix it. When I get the car back, it is washed. I NEVER get the sense that I am being sold a repair I don't need. On the contrary, there have been occasions when the manager took me into the shop to show me a developing problem and suggested for me to keep an eye on it but not to repair it - forgoing a potential sale. While my car was under warranty, they did the warranted repairs in place of the BMW dealer. This is not the type of shop that lures you in by offering the cheapest oil change in town, but I always found the pricing to be fair. Wheeling Auto Center is 18 miles away from our home and offices. Although there are many shops closer by, I could not imagine taking our cars anywhere else. read more

First of all, a big thank you for fixing my sons car, a Volvo S60. I would like to start this review with a big thumbs down to Fields Volvo, and I will explain why. His car would start hard, it would crank and crank, and then fire up. I took it to Fields Volvo and they diagnosed it as a bad alternator, and they wanted 1200 for it. Being a car guy, I figured I would just put one in myself. Bought one on ebay for 140, but before I could get it in the car finally refused to start. It was like minus 5 degrees, and I really did not want to start messing with it. So I called Wheeling Auto Center and spoke with Dave. He arranged for a tow and his diagnosis was nothing short of amazing. It was not the alternator at all. Turns out that it was the starter. Now, one would ask themselves..Its cranks, so the starter must be good., right? Now this is where they shine. Turns out the starter was drawing more amps than it should, and with the low voltage high current it was inducing a magnetic field and this was confusing the crank position sensor, which is critical because this is when it tells the plugs to fire. A new starter and all is good. Thanks so much for fixing what Fields totally misdiagnosed. And, they returned the car nice and clean. Very professional! read more

Mere words cannot express how special Wheeling Auto is and the gratitude I have for everyone that works there. I took my vehicle in for service. One item that required work I was able to perform myself. When I informed them I could do the work myself, they gave me their cell phone numbers to call if I had questions. I sent an email with a question, as I did not want to bother them on a weekend when I was doing the work, and almost immediately after hitting send I got a call from Dave offering help. Brian also called me to offer help. They were able to help over the phone. What other car repair business offers help without expecting payment (doing the work myself saved me over $1,000). I think Wheeling Auto got what they wanted, and deserve, which is a great review and referral business. It seems like a great business like Wheeling Auto is very rare. As a last ditch effort to save my 12 year old car I came to Wheeling Auto Center, my previous mechanic could not find the cause of my car's issues (stalling, unable to fill the gas tank and chronic check engine light) after over 6 months of replacing multiple parts. After explaining via email & phone my saga with the car and its symptoms, Dave assured me they would be able to find the cause. The car was dropped off first thing in the morning, before the end of the day I received a call from Dave outlining what they found, the estimated time and cost of the repairs. They provided a courtesy car while they had mine in the shop waiting for the parts necessary. Once the parts came in the repair took one day. Being overly cautious I asked them to drive the car for a couple of days, including putting gas in the tank, which they gladly did! The quote can in spot on, no additional add on's. It's been 3 weeks and none of the chronic problems have reoccurred and the car is running smoothly! This is an honest shop with well-trained mechanics and great management! read more

Ill respond to the comment: yeah i too was 'flustered' when i saw the 'check engine' come on after two weeks. so i was exaggerating a little for the inside of the shop..maybe they werent couches, but a pretty comfortable lounge id say..anyone can walk in and see for themselves (there is another comment regarding your lobby below). As for you not cleaning the interior, that's a flat out lie. My interior was definitely vacuumed....The reason i didnt bring it back in was i was told there would be another 'diagnostic fee' and im sure 'other things' wouldve been found wrong and id have to pay even more. In fact, the new mechanic (forom a different shop) that i talked to said that you could tell if this particular part is worn out and this shop clearly lied to me b/c the part that they said was worn out was just replaced recently (i did not know this until i was told by this new mechanic). i normally would let this go, but this was an expensive 'fix' and for that price, things better be done right and not fail with the same problem after two weeks. as for me making negative comments for other places ive been to, these are really reviews for the worst places ive been in the last few years. everyone has a right to voice their opinion. and as for my name not matching your database, it was under my wife's name so that's why it couldnt be found. people can rate whatever they like, it's a ratings site. Im just telling you my opinion and experience...no one has to listen to it. in fact, you never know until you try. Funny how the negative reviews are so true and I agree with them. I would NOT recommend this place. I already knew something was wrong with the 'overfriendly' customer service and the super super clean (and HUGE) lobby area with candy in a bowl, couches, magazines, aquarium, and etc. Well, I left my car there early one morning on a weekday cause i got a check engine light warning. They didnt even tell me what was wrong with it til noon the next day! And of course when they did find out, they wanted to replace basically everything. He flat out lied to me about one part being worn out b/c I had that replaced by another mechanic earlier in the year (i didnt realize this later when i brought it back to this different mechanic just today). Anyways, the Wheelign Auto Center guy goes "if you dont replace these items now, youll have to pay ANOTHER $99 'diagnostic' fee." So I just went ahead and had replaced everything this sleeze said. When I did get my car back, i heard a rumbling noise as if the engine wasnt as smooth as before, but thought it was ok as the check engine light was ok and the drive was still smooth. Two weeks later the check engine light came back on again and I had the same exact problem with a jerking and skipping engine before I took it into Wheeling Auto Center. Oh and by the way, I paid over $1000 for a repair that lasted about two weeks. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone unless you have money to throw away. Id rather have my car repaired than 'extremely professional' or have 'accomadations' made like some of the positive reviews mentioned. They cleaned the upholstery and vacuumed my car and it smelled like that new car smell---this sounds like a trick to get you back there again. Dave, the owner, really takes pride in giving the customer good service, including a loaner car for the day. They even washed the car and vacuumed the inside! After 2 failed attempts to fix a muffler, the dealership called WAC to repair the muffler; the dealership did not want to fix something that should not have been an issue in the first place - its a muffler. They may be fine for domestic cars, but I would be wary of foreign car repair. read more

I'm a college student and I called around quoting prices and Wheeling Auto Center was the cheapest I had found. I found out about them from their commercial I saw over the summer. I took my vehicle in for a simple tire rotation. oil change and to have my electrical system checked, but they ended up finding a whole deal of problems that I didn't even know were wrong with my Jeep. They gave me a loaner car while my car was being worked on, it took them a day and half to do the job which wasn't bad at all! They called and updated me as information was available to them. They let me knew what was wrong and what would need to be replaced at a later time and what had to be done then. It was a little on the pricey side, but it was much cheaper than what the dealership would have cost me! You get what you pay for, that's for sure! I'd take amazing customer service and someone who knows your name as soon as you walk through the door over the dealer any day. I will most definitely be back!
