I found Turnage Auto Care through Yelp and made the appointment right through the Yelp app. Tyler messaged me and set everything up. Aaron greeted me right as I arrived and got the process started. While changing the oil they inspected my car and found a few issues with the tires I mostly knew about. He offered to send a quote to replace one or all tires & TPMS sensors ( which my 13 yr old car was needing ) I liked that they quote through a text link so you can see the cost and everything associated with the repair. You can decline the service or accept it. We talked about tires and sensors and ultimately decided to go with a better tire than quoted. They priced the cost and labor very competitively and I approved the service. There was no pressure at all during this transaction. Just information and options. I definitely was happy to find Turnage Auto Care, Tyler and Aaron. I'll be bringing both of my Hybrids to them from now on!

The VSC light, Anti-lock brake light, Power-steering light and word BRAKE showed up on my dashboard 3 weeks ago, so I took my Toyota to the dealership Midlands Toyota on Killian so they could tell me what was going on. After charging me $167 to run the diagnostic test, they told me that the Brake Master Cylinder and brake booster pump assembly needed replacing to the tune of $4,400. I asked the representative if this was covered under recall or warranty. He said no. I called later that same day to Midlands Toyota to ask the same question in hopes of getting another representative who would actually look. I was told no--it wasn't covered and that I'd have to come out of pocket for the cost. I called a family friend and mechanic and he recommended Chapman's Auto Tech. I went over there and talked to Mike. I showed him the diagnostic from the dealership and asked what would they charge me to replace these parts. He gave me a lower estimate for the total job. Not only that, Mike and Robert (the owner) told me that they have a year warranty on parts AND labor. I left my car with Chapman's Auto Tech. While waiting for the parts to come in, I got a call back from Chapman's. Robert asked me if I was sitting down. He told me that Mike took the time to do some digging and made phone calls to Toyota. Sure enough, the whole job WAS COVERED under the warranty. He found it written plain as day in the Customer Support Program. It seems to me that someone at Midlands just wanted to skim $4000+ from me instead of doing their job and honoring their own Customer Support Program. Chapman's Auto Tech could have done the same, but these guys actually mean what they say when it comes to customer satisfaction and being an honest business. Chapman's has been in business over 32 years. Seriously, if you have car troubles in the Columbia Midlands area, try Chapman's Auto Tech first. They really are good guys. We took our vehicle to this shop because our usual mechanic doesn't handle hybrid-related work, and…read moreunfortunately, this turned into a frustrating experience. After testing and finding the parts the estimate became much larger, but it had to be fixed. After getting the vehicle back we had issues again and took it back because it was under warranty. They initially replaced a cooling system hose, but we later found out that the brand new hose they installed had a pinhole leak. That alone raises concerns about the quality of parts they're using and their inspection process before returning a vehicle. Well, this of course was not covered. When we picked the car up...the 2nd time, the check engine light was on -- which it absolutely was NOT when we dropped it off. They told us the issue was an intermittent misfire and suggested additional diagnostic testing for over $400, followed by more charges for fuel injection cleaning and possibly even deeper engine work. It felt like they were stacking on expensive "next steps" without a clear diagnosis. Something didn't sit right, so we brought the car to our regular shop since this was no longer a "hybrid" issue. Within a short time, they found the real issue: a smashed spark plug -- and not even the same brand as the others that had all been replaced by me personally just six months ago. That's extremely concerning and points to careless or sloppy workmanship or sadly sabotage. Between installing a faulty hose, returning my car with a new warning light, and missing (or possibly causing) a very obvious issue, I've completely lost confidence in this shop. Familiarize yourself with your vehicle and exercise caution. Sadly, many are out to profit, even at your expense.

I was trying to find a cheaper alternative, I should have taken it back to Ford. I called "Good guys" and asked how much they would charge me to suck out the freon,reprogram the hvac module and then put the freon back in, which is what Ford told me it needed. I spoke with a very nice gentlemen on the phone who I can only assume by the other reviews was Scott because it definitely wasn't John and he assured me that they could do the job for $140. I took my car in on a Tuesday and went into the waiting room to wait for the work to be done. My friend was with me and after about 30 minutes of waiting had to use the restroom, but the door had an out of order sign on it. I tried the door and it wasn't locked, in fact there was absolutely nothing wrong with the restroom, so I'm assuming they just wanted to keep ppl sitting in their waiting room for hours without even giving them a place to use the restroom if they need to. After waiting 2 hours for my car to be done John said it was ready. I went out to my car which was cranked with the ac running and put my hand in front of the vent to see if it was blowing cold air, and it was at first and then changed right back to hot air. I went back in and told John that the problem was not fixed at all. So back to the waiting room again. Ten minutes later he said I was all set, at this point I'm extremely skeptical about this because I'm now feeling like they don't know what they are doing. When I went out the ac was blowing cold air again and so we left. On Thursday 2 days later, I'm otw to take my friend to work and guess what, the ac started blowing hot air again. At this point I feel like they definitely don't know what they are doing and just want my money back so I can take it to the dealership and pay the $400. I called and spoke with John who told me he was absolutely not giving me my money back but I could bring my car back again and they would see if they could fix it again. What!?!? I don't think so! I am scared for them to even touch my car at this point because now I am convinced they don't know what they are doing. DON'T go there!! If they supposedly fix your car and you have the same problem again they WILL NOT give you your money back!! Good guys?? NOT!!
