    Pasta salad

Today was my first time eating food from Chicken Salad Chick, and it was meh at best. I am disappointed because I had heard great things. Granted, I don't eat chicken...but I was conducting a training where we got a catered lunch for the group, and this is what was chosen. There are very few options for someone who doesn't eat meat, so I ordered a pasta salad. It was tri-color rotini pasta doused in Italian dressing and had a couple of pieces of feta cheese and black olives plus one tiny speck of an artichoke. It lacked taste and substance, so I brought it home and added more feta cheese, hot sauce, and black pepper to make it slightly more palatable. What's worse is that everyone who ordered the chicken sandwiches got a little fruit cup and cookies plus utensils and a napkin. I got absolutely nothing! It's a good thing I had an extra fork in my car. :) The fruit and cookies looked very good, but my drab pasta salad stood alone. The students in my class said their chicken salad sandwiches were good, so at least there's that. I wish they had a vegan mock chicken option because I would have loved that. However, I would not recommend Chicken Salad Chick based on what I ate.

So delicious! I loved the variety of different chicken salads! I enjoyed the little options add a side of soup or salad or an extra soup! The Buffalo chicken salad was so yummy, my personal favorite!

This was my first time eating here. I opted for the kids meal. I ordered the turkey sandwich, which came with a side, I opted for Mac and cheese. The portion size of the kids meal was definitely fulfilling to me, and the sandwich was great (didn't even get a chance to take a picture of it since I devoured it), I couldn't even eat all of the Mac and cheese. The only thing I didn't like is that the kids meals only come with water. If I were to bring my kids, that would be an ultimate turn off for them . I also ordered a slice of the blueberry cheesecake, and this is the other reason they only got 3 stars. As you can see from the picture, there was none of the blueberry goodness on top that is shown in the pictures. Also, the stuff on top is definitely not sugar crystals, it's ICE because the ENTIRE slice was FROZEN.

I ordered the sandwich meal with a potato soup to go. It gave me food poisoning. I probably won't ever eat here again unfortunately.

It's a place I…read morefrequent on my days off, and last week was my first time dining there since their recent menu flip. That morning I ordered one of my favorites, the lox bagel. I didn't realize that with the new menu changes, ordering a lox bagel meant all assembly required-- by the customer. I received a plastic to-go box with a toasted bagel, a ramekin of cream cheese, a ramekin mixture of capers and onions, and smoked salmon wrapped in a deli sheet. I was puzzled and asked for clarification from a sales associate, as the order was not to-go. I want to stress the fact that there was no negligence whatsoever on the part of the employee-- she's great and always makes my day when I see she's working. However, I find it to be quite a bizarre policy to require a guest to construct their own sandwich. Part of the reason people dine out is to be cared for and have a stress-free morning. It was also a waste of plastic cutlery, as I used a single knife to spread cream cheese and tossed the unneeded fork and spoon. Now while I am proud of my sandwich build and the flavor was good, I was left with fingers that smelled like salmon despite washing my hands multiple times. Not exactly what I was hoping for at 10 am on my day off from working in a restaurant. I understand the fine details of menu flips can be a bit clumsy at first, but I hope management receives this feedback and reconsiders this self-assembly method. I love this place and the atmosphere and staff. The lox bagel experience just didn't hit the mark for me.

I managed to secure a nice table with not even a 25 minute wait thanks to a very courteous and professional manager (thank you, Steve!). At the table, everything was clean, shiny and the server was prompt despite a very busy morning. The crowd, obviously, seemed to be mostly college students and parents. I'm pretty sure during the week it's the Capitol Hill crowd. The food was tasty and really hit the spot. Coffees fresh brewed all around, of course. We started with the Breakfast Poutine for appetizer which was hearty and all enjoyed. For entrees, two Southern Benedict, the Waffle Flight, scrambled eggs and bacon. All the food was cooked to order, presented nicely and the taste exceeded expectations. Also, kudos to our Server, Jose. We'll likely visit again and enjoyed the meal. The ambience, flavors and service professionals were great. I should also mention parking in this area can be challenging so take that into consideration. Do make a reservation or arrive early!

We drove to Tallahassee that day, but unfortunately got caught in heavy traffic due to President Trump speaking in Sumter County near The Villages. As Soon as we realized we would not make our reservation, we called the restaurant to explain the unavoidable circumstances and asked if there was any way to move our reservation to another time that day. Initially, we were told no, so we canceled the reservation. Shortly afterwards, the restaurant called back and informed us we would be charged a cancellation fee of $ 150 - $ 25.00 per person. I completely understand having a cancellation policy, however, charging $ 25 per person for a lunch reservation during unavoidable traffic circumstances felt excessive and unreasonable, especially after we proactively called ahead. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility or compassion during an important family milestone. I explained repeatedly that we were desperately trying not to miss our son's graduation celebration and were even worried about missing the ceremony itself because we were stuck in traffic. I asked about every possible alternative- a later dinner reservation, appetizers only, or even moving reservation to another day. Ever request was denied except for a 4 pm slot, which still was not realistic given the traffic situation. What upset me the most was not just the fee itself, but the unwillingness to work with us. A more customer focused approach could have been allowing the $ 150 to be applied toward a future visit. Because of this experience, my family will NEVER dine at Hayward House, and I would NOT recommend it to other FSU families celebrating special occasions.

They also offer a 5% discount if you pay in cash, which is a nice bonus. I got "The Hummer," which has turkey, feta, black olives, tomato, onion, and lettuce on rye-pumpernickel with mayonnaise and house dressing. It was so good. The bread was SUPER YUMMY and looked beautiful too (if you care about aesthetics). All the flavors blended together really well without anything overpowering, and it had this refreshing quality to it that made it stand out. I would definitely order it again. My partner got "The Sauté," which is turkey with Parmesan, Cheddar, Swiss, and a mix of sautéed onions, peppers, and mushrooms on a warm poppy seed roll, plus lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and house dressing. The roll was good and it was very flavorful but is was the combination of the veggies, turkey, and melted cheeses gave it a lot of depth. Everything tasted fresh. I got a combo with Mrs. Vickie's salt and vinegar chips, which is always a good sign. And the sweet tea--wow. It wasn't overly sweet, but what really stood out was the flavor. You could actually taste the tea, with slightly minty, earthy notes that made it feel really well done. That's rare. Overall, for what this place is, it deserves all stars. The staff was kind and helpful, the food came out quickly, and everything we had was genuinely good. P.S. There is no photos because I forgot due to it being so da** good!

Most of the drinks here are Mythologically themed- Aphrodite, Apollo, Hercules, you get the point. I tried the Persephone, which was a pomegranate flavored coffee. Super on par for Greek Mythology, if you know you know. Yes, getting a pomegranate coffee was extremely risky, but it was so intriguing I had to try it out. And let me say, it was probably as good as a pomegranate coffee could turn out. You could definitely taste it but it wasn't so overpowering or artificial tasting. I don't think I'd try it again as I'd rather just have a plain coffee but I was fairly impressed. There's not a ton of seating in here but could be a very peaceful place to study and do work. Plus a cute gated & shaded courtyard right outside the shop.
