All I can say is do not eat at Newt's on Friday. The floor was covered with water and something sticky.. We ordered soup, salads, and pizza. The pizza was stiff and barely warm. The soup was more cold than hot. The soup tasted horrible. It was cold. The salads were pretty good but the dressing was insufficient. The place was freezing cold so we moved towards a warmer area by the windows. It was not clean..there was food on the window sill by the table. I thought this place was about to close, but they somehow turned things around. Our favorite is the spicy shrimp pizza without the cayenne pepper or chili sauce. They took away the condiment bar! As an obvious cheap-out money grab, they have reduced the condiment bar to bare bones. I'm not sure how much one saves by requiring people to wait at the counter and hope someone notices them within a reasonable amount of time (likely not since many in the prep area seem to have a well-practiced skill of avoiding eye contact or even looking up lest being required to assist a customer). The amount they're saving in pickles and pepperocini must be in the tens of dollars and totally worth alienating their customer base. When I last provided feedback requesting a return of the condiment bar (not the first time since it's been gone for months now), the most recent reply was that the condiment bar was not available due to the fact that (and I quote), "We are keeping them temperature controlled for better quality." Y'all please tell me which of the following items require temperature control: pickles? Pepperocini? CROUTONS? Yes, indeed that is their excuse. So now not only are they cheap (the 3 pickles I'd grab during my visit must have been positively bankrupting them) they also showed me they think their customers are idiots. I ordered the Cobb and it was excellent. I like that the blue cheese dressing actually had chunks of blue cheese. The salad was crispy and fresh. You have to order at the counter and then grab a table or let them know it is for carry out. This is just a sub par Newks, the lettuce in the salad was some what wilted. The person taking our order struggled with our order, and the one before and behind us. He assumed ours was a to go order, asked if we wanted a side salad with the Newks Favorite salad etc . I ordered the Lobster Bisque, I assure you no lobster was ever near this soup. Another winning lunch at Newk's Eatery. We were out running errands and needed a place to refuel. I love this place. Today, I got the pair with half a Newk's Club and a cup of loaded potato soup. Hubby had the half a turkey sandwich with a cup of soup. Son had the kid's four chesse Mac and cheese with Cheetos and milk, and the daughter had the half a grilled cheese with a cup of tomato bisque. All the food was delivered to our outside seating table. It was made perfectly. The soups all tasted great and the sauce on the Newk's club was amazing. I now have a new favorite. Just found out Newks reopened for dinner. This is the Newks located on the north east side of Tallahassee. We ordered 3 different pizzas. Newks Q, Maragarita and build your own. I must say, I would be lost without this place. I go to Newk's on my lunch break VERY often, a couple times a week on average. And I have tried many different things on their menu- salads, sandwiches, pizza. And it's ALL amazing!! Their kitchen does an amazing job following my requests to a T, nearly every time I order a salad I request to remove things and add things, and it is ALWAYS correct! I also always order ahead to come and pick up since I am on my lunch break and my order is always ready when I get there. Always! And I'm a 10-15 minute drive away, so that's pretty impressive, especially considering it is always busy during the lunch hour. The Newks Favorite salad was delicious. The outside eating area was dirty and the furniture was broken and scattered all over. Seems like the restaurant isn't run by the same folks maybe ? For years it's been my # restaurant for fresh salads and soups but for the last year the place seems to be run down and dirty. The food is good so next time will just get it to go. . On a happy note - the busboy was soooo nice and ended up getting us croutons from the kitchen ( they used to have them on the island in the middle of the floor but don't anymore ) and they were soggy. I have been eating at the Newks on Thomasville for as long as they have been open. I also ate at the old Newks on W Tennessee several times when they were open. Tonight was one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. I ordered takeout salads and sandwiches. When I arrived about 10 mins before closing I was greeted by turned backs as the staff was busy closing. After several mins standing there I was finally acknowledged. I received my order and checked it. It was incomplete, missing an entree Cajun shrimp salad. I pointed it out and asked for one, the young man at the counter said the kitchen was closed. It was still 5 mins until 8 pm, the closing time! I then paid and when I checked my receipt it was wrong too! The staff were surly and arrogant and made it clear they were only interested in leaving. Paneras is right across the street and there are several alternatives either next door, a family owned Italian place- Village Pizza- great pasta at a fair price.
