Even several feet away, the smell of the burgers grilling is mouthwatering. This is not surprising once you learn that the owner of Yum Rockets is a Cordon Bleu graduate and has been a chef for 20 years. The concept is a modern take on Retro/Vintage Diners. Serving gourmet hamburgers, sandwiches, french fries, and more. It's a family-run business which is another nice perk. Of the various burgers on offer, the California Gold sounded the most enticing. A craft blend patty served with signature sauce (similar to Thousand Island), American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and bacon guacamole. Served on a brioche bun. Just one look and you know it will be delicious - and it was. Everything about it screamed fresh, high-quality ingredients, and expertly grilled. If they had a bricks-and-mortar restaurant, it would be your new destination for burgers (luckily, they offer catering, too!). We also ordered the Inferno Cluck which is their take on Nashville hot chicken, chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, pickle, jalapeno, crunchy onions on a 10-inch hoagie. Honestly, unless you were just starving, this is big enough to split with someone. It's a huge sandwich, all the more so with the generous side order of fries. I love spicy so I asked them to add their Raising Pain sauce. It does kick things up a notch and since it is served on the side, you should get it too. The chicken was perfectly fried and seasoned. I ended up abandoning the hoagie and just focusing on the generous portion of chicken. YUM! Several types of fries are on offer. The fries are SO crisp. These are exactly how you want fries to be served. I tried customizing mine to the ginger wasabi fries but they were sadly out. We ended up upgrading to the Yum Yum fries which are smothered with their house-made cheese sauce, chopped ground beef, diced tomatoes, diced onions, and gold sauce. Delicious but a meal unto itself. We also had the Arizona fries which are the spicy version with Chipotle aioli and jalapenos. Delicious but a meal alone. The website listed some yummy-sounding dessert options but they had been crossed off the sandwich board when we visited. Perhaps they only do dessert for catering events now. Although based in the San Tan Valley, Yum Rockets pops up around the Valley. You can find their upcoming schedule on their website. Truly one of the best out there!

I…read moredidn't get around to trying them out at the State Fair so I was happy to make things happen at the Ostrich Festival. This food truck, as the name indicates, is all about crepes. Ambiance (N/A): Since it's a food truck, ambiance isn't really part of the experience. With that being said, it's a clean, nice-looking food truck. No complaints. Service (4/5): Like most food trucks, you order at the window and then you get your food from the other window when it's ready. You pay on one of those Square devices. They forgot my lemonade but no biggie. I mentioned it and they took care of it promptly. They even offered to give me a free refill on my beverage. The lady making the crepes was quite good looking, which is always a plus in my book. Drinks (4.5/5): Speaking about that lemonade, I misspoke. It was actually a prickly pear limeade. For $6. They don't have a lot of beverages to choose from, but I'm happy they had this one because it's delicious. Food (4/5): I love crepes. And you can't find them in many places in Phoenix, so this was a treat. This French street food is a classic. Le Crepe AZ's menu is relatively small. There are three savory options and eight or so sweet options. I went with The Frenchman, one of the savory selections. Turkey, avocado, and a pesto spread make this simple, yet delicious crepe. While the crepe wasn't up there in terms of some others I've had, and could have been served a little warmer, it was a solid crepe. Looking forward to running into them at another event! Next time around, I'll have to try one of their sweet crepes.

I received a text confirming my order, and my order was ready within 5 minutes. I wasn't able to go pick it up for about 15 minutes after the fact, but they kept it nice and warm. It was pricy for our lunch for 2 $40. The Fried Korean Dumplings (Yaki-Mandu) were $4/4, and to make it pork, was $2 extra= $6. My beef bulgogi bibimbap was $14 and the spicy pork was $13.50. Fiancé was looking forward to galbi but it wasn't available online. Aside from the dumplings, the portions are generous- I'm eating leftovers as I write! The flavors were okay but the sesame bulgogi marinade doesn't come through. The spicy house gochuchang was less spicy than sriracha; even when I dowsed my entire bowl in it. The spicy pork had better flavor. Love the concept!

They offered a fairly big menu with lots of choices...draw back is that you have to use their kiosk in order to see the prices of what you might order. I ordered the Korean Teriyaki Chicken Bowl which came with dark meat chicken, marinated with a sweet and savory sauce. Served with rice, carrots, cabbage, green onions and sesame seeds. The chicken was so tender and flavorful and the entire bowl was so good! Absolutely loved it! I also ordered the pork dumplings, which were perfect and fried to that crispy outer shell and tender, juicy filling. The dipping sauce was so good, tangy with that wonderful soy flavoring! Overall this was a great experience and I'd never hesitate to order from this truck if we were at an event where they are stationed!
