What can be improved? SERVICE!!! We were not greeted when we entered. No one even acknowledged us for awhile. When the employee walked up to the register to take our order, she still did not say anything we had to start talking. Also, an employee walked in from the street, put her hair in a bun and started helping people without washing her hands.Gross! I've been to Playa Bowls a few times now and there's a lot of hype about this place. They are best known for their açaí bowls but also offer other bases such as mango, banana, and pitya. Bases are then topped with a variety of different toppings, including granola and fruit. I've tried two different bowls as well as smoothie. In trying to açaí base and mango base, I preferred the mango but I had gotten one with Nutella on it, which wasn't the best flavor combo to me. Their granola is also really hard/crunchy, so I thought I'd try a smoothie. I had gotten the Aloha which was just alright, not very flavorful. Overall, if you're a fan of açaí bowls, give them a shot. Pricey but pretty in line with other places that offer similar menu items. read more

Not sure why the address says Gainesville, but I stopped in the Queen Creek location after a hike today for the first time. It's so bright and tropical vibes abound. The menu is overwhelming not ever having been here before, so I asked the employee at the counter what their favorite base was and they said pitaya (like a dragonfruit). I got the electric mermaid. It was made quickly and looked so beautiful and appetizing. I loved the consistency of the base, the tropical flavors, and the bonus layer of granola adding a list crisp to the bowl. This was my first time coming into Playa Bowls. The inside is so cute. The cashier was okay not rude or anything just not overly welcoming when we walked in. However when we started asking questions about the menu very nice and explained the bowls I had in question. Several people inside but not a long wait at all. When getting our order the staff very friendly and accommodating. We needed an empty bowl for our little ones to share. I ordered the Nica bowl and my base was made with bananas. I loved the toppings and the flavors went really well with it. The base wasn't bad at all just a little overpowering for me. I'll add maybe some peanut butter to the base. Really good, although was kinda shocked at $15 tab for size of what I got. I'm obviously out of touch as to what an açaí bowl goes for these days! Not what I'd call a "value". Would like to see places like this publish macro-nutrient data (particularly carb and sugar content for us diabetics. It's not on-line either at some of the food nutrient apps. Everything else was 5-star though!!! A high seat counter runs along the side window with some stools, but service dog and I stayed outside at the nice picnic tables. They do not blend anything for you. It is basically scooped right out like an ice cream or sorbet. They do add sugar to their base as well, which I will never understand. Way over priced for non-fresh fruit base. Overall taste is what you would expect for what I have mentioned above- extremely, overpoweringly sweet. If you have a good sweet tooth you will like it. My son and I love making smoothies and bowls at our home, and I thought the menu was incredible and had a great deal of variety. We finally got there on a Monday afternoon around 3 o'clock. The place was empty, but the kids working there were very busy. I realized that everyone had called in their orders which is something I will do the next time I go there. My son and I got the protein bites. They had coconut Chocolate protein ball bites as a seasonal special-which were delicious. I knew I wanted a green base, but it was a little late in the day to do anything too heavy even though the Green Power bowl looked the most appetizing. I went with the Pacific Bowl and I ordered my son the Mango Berry Bowl. It's a much bigger bowl than I expected and they fill it up to the top with toppings. A+ for presentation. It looked beautiful. They have the base, covered with granola, and the berries and honey are on top. Very delicious. We got ours to-go. The place itself is very clean and looks brand new. The kids who work there are very kind and hard-working. They offered my son a sticker which was so cute. The place is designed really nice. I think the prices are a little bit high, but not enough to discourage me from coming back because the bowls were really yummy! I want to try a smoothie next time I go there.
