I've been wanting to visit Whiskey Business for ages because they have advertisements all over social media. I jumped at the chance to visit when I saw Chicago BucketListers had a discounted experience to visit the pop-up bar. The package include entry for up to 4 people, one holiday drink for everyone, and 30 minutes of curling. I was disappointed from the moment I got to the bar.... they're doing a pop up in Cheesie's so I walked past the bar a few times because I didn't realize you have to enter through Cheesie's Pub & Grub - Wicker Park. They had a fair amount Christmas decor but it definitely seemed like it was half done in-comparison to how the bars around Wrigleyville invest in their decor. They had a fair amount of seating so my party didn't struggle to find somewhere to sit. I opted to go on a Saturday before 5pm so that could've played a part in finding a seat so easily. The curling area is on the rooftop with no functional heat lamps. We were told the heat lamps keep going out with the wind which is odd since other places manage to have functional heat lamps. They have two curling lanes. There wasn't any organization in curling signups or anyone outside to give directions. The curling was something I was looking forward to so I was disappointed in the lack of effort. The food is provided by Cheesie's, they have a paired down menu on the Christmas menu but you can get the larger menu if you go to the bar. The food is the standard Cheesie's menu with the opinion of gourmet grilled cheese and other bar food. The mac-n-cheese is always delicious but the chicken tender grilled cheese was okay. read more

This is a good late night location if you're wanting to just have a good rooftop experience, however the food is a complete mess. I ordered tater tots and wings and both lacked any amount of flavor. The tater tots were mushy and I ended up not eating them overall the ambience is going to be your best decision with this location because the food is not the vibe. read more

If you're looking for that summer vibe this is definitely the bar for you. Their outdoor seating has lots of sunshine and umbrellas for coverage. Ordering is super easy - with the simple scan of a barcode you can have everything delivered straight to your table. We still had our waitress check in on us periodically to make sure all of our food/drinks were coming out. There's lots of activities to do in the outdoor area as well. They had a cute unicorn spray water, connect four and a big jenga. There are a ton of drinks on the menu - I was surprised to see my favorite the 'dirty Shirley'. The food was also super delicious. It was my first time at Whiskey Business and I had a lot of fun! My friends and I reserved a little ski chalet room specially made for the holiday season for our friend's birthday brunch. Whiskey Business has 2 floors with a rooftop patio that's vibrant and cute! The ski chalet we reserved was on the rooftop. Reserving the ski chalet was $65 and it was so worth it - it was super cute, warm, and we truly felt like we were at a ski lodge. It was perfect for the holiday/winter season. It wasn't busy even though it was brunch time on a Saturday (thank goodness)! Our food was reallyyyyy yummy - we got the avocado toast, buffalo soldier fries, and breakfast sandwich. Everyone loved their meals and the prices were super affordable, too! Our cocktails were alright, they were pretty small and nothing too special. Our server was alright too, she wasn't really friendly and seemed annoyed we were asking questions about some food items on the menu. Whiskey business has a nice patio rooftop for you to enjoy with an adjacent indoor bar if you'd like to sit inside. The staff is friendly and there's something at the top looking for an open table for you. There are servers throughout but if you sit inside the bar, you just walk up. If you'd like one of the bigger tables, I'd recommend calling ahead to make a reservation. When sitting in the patio is definitely gets hot under the sun! Not as many fans or misters and the umbrellas are a hit or miss. The frozen drinks are pretty sweet (too much for me). We ordered Jameson shots with pickle backs and the shots were plentiful but the pickle juice was so pretty small. We kept having to ask them to pour more. Partied here on a Sunday morning with my friend who had reservations for brunch with her cousins. I didn't end up eating here because I had reservations at another location. I will say that they're mimosa deal seem like a really good bargain. I enjoyed my momosa which was made with Wyclif champagne or maybe that's Proseco not sure. My friend got some wings and those looked delicious and they also smell like they had the right level of spice. Came in for a quick drink while waiting for a dinner reservation nearby. The environment inside was really chill and welcoming. The drinks were well priced and yummy. We paid around $50 for 4 drinks and a shot. We tried the spicy mango margarita, paloma, mojito and espresso martini. All four drinks we recommended and would get again. There is also games to play like darts, skeeball, jumbo connect4 and jumbo jenga. The man serving us was also very nice and personable. It's always the rooftop for me. I'm a sucker for a good rooftop and Whiskey Business certainly passed the test. This was last summer and sorry it took me so long to review. The happy hour specials are great. It's nice to just chill on a hot summer day. Everyone who works here is simply amazing when it comes to hospitality. I've been here twice since last summer and unfortunately didn't get videos and these were all I had in my camera roll. This is a summer time Chi must. Great for a hangout spot after work or hanging with friends. They' even have rooftop movie night. There is plenty of (paid) street parking. OVERALL: As instagrammable as you think it will be, but it's not just looks! The food, drinks, and overall service make this place a winner. ATMOSPHERE: I mean, I had to start with this one right. A fun rooftop in Wicker Park with fun colorful decor and string lights. They even had a giant inflatable unicorn. They play upbeat pop music that makes you want to dance in your seat. Such fun vibes! DRINKS: They have so many classic drinks like mojitos, old fashions, you name it but our favorites were the (what we called) an adult capri sun and the magic 8 ball shots. The magic 8 ball shots were mystery shots and as you can imagine, you shook a magic 8 ball to figure out your shot. Some options lead to dares and a reroll! FOOD: We ordered the chicken sliders, steak burrito bowl, and Mac and cheese. For a place that we thought might be all looks, typically I don't expect the best BUT this food was absolutely delicious. I would absolutely eat all of these things again. PRICE: I thought the prices here were quite affordable. $10 for Mac and cheese, $8 for the base burrito bowl (we added a protein for $5), and the chicken sliders were $14 for 3 sliders. Any place that I can go to that will allow me to watch movies on their rooftop, is always 5 stars in my book! The name rings true as well - they have TONS of different whiskeys available for you to imbibe. My personal favorite (outside of Whiskey) has been the Frozé, one of their frozen adult slushy drinks! Besides that, the food is scrumptious and they pride themselves on having a huge amount of French fry options. The place is inspired by the 80s and 90s, so the menu and drinks, as well as the decor, is named to remind you of such. They have deals during quite a few days of the week, one of which now includes every time that the Chicago Bears score, you get 5% off your tab! Cool, right? Don't get me wrong this place has a very fun and social atmosphere--we went on a Saturday afternoon and it was lively and had great things such as a large connect four board and Jenga. Come here for a good time and for drink, the food could be a bit better. The chicken and waffle board was mediocre at best. The chicken pieces were very small and did not have enough flavor and the waffles were more on the dry biscuit side rather than the fluffy side. We also ordered some mimosas that were pretty average. I don't know why this place is getting less than a five-star review. Recently went here for a private event and had a great time! We arrived here on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm and the place was packed. The ground floor level was wall-to-wall people and 80% were women. I don't know if there was a bridal party or a special for females at this time, but it was jam packed. Our private event was held upstairs outside on the rooftop patio. Definitely a day party vibe. Our group was under the cute covered Cabanas. They have some cute pillows made to look like stuffed Whiskey Business T-shirts. It's a really nice patio, but very crowded. They had great music playing, and the sound level was perfect for conversations. There were several events going on at the same time. There was a birthday party, a business group, and a large friend's get together, besides our private event. To drink we had a One Touch Too Much cocktail (elijah craig small batch, orgeat (almond), pineapple juice, lime juice and angostura) and my favorite, an Electric Lemonade (big machine vodka, lemonade and blue curacao). Especially refreshing on a hot afternoon. For food we had a plate of delicious shrimp tacos (grilled shrimp with cilantro lime cabbage slaw served on corn tortillas with chipotle crema) and a plate of steak tacos (skirt steak with onions, cilantro and chihuahua cheese on corn tortillas with chipotle crema). Came here on a hot summer day. Staff was friendly. Plenty of patio seating upstairs. Decor is fun. Food- nothing to write home about. The truffle shuffle fries were dry and sad. Even ketchup couldn't save them. I liked the shaved cheese on top. I could've eaten a block of that. Were they truffle-y? Who's to say? Should have been simple but was just bad because of slow (10 mins to be greeted--no tap list even though we literally asked for it specifically at the door... had to go hunting for help twice.... waited for a check while the bartender stared at a Jeep commercial... just that kinda crap. The best customer service was not employees, but the two Jim Beam reps wearing tight-red dresses and giving out free cocktail samples and swag. They were great but wth in 2019 do companies expect women to dress like that to sell product. Assuming they are good with it but still. So many better options in this city. This is the bar you go to when you're 22 and just arrived in the city, moved to Wicker Park, take the blue line to your exciting but horrible entry-level marketing gig. This is probably one of the coolest spots I've been to in a long time. We decided to pop in here on a Saturday around 9:30 on a Saturday night and the main floor wasn't too busy. That's when I realized there are stairs to head up to a rooftop! Even with it being chilly, the upstairs was packed. Loved the club feels with the light-up seats. And the bartenders made sure to keep the crowd entertained. They were out of Knob's Creek, so I settled for Maker's Mark on the rocks, but we made sure to have a few whiskey shots as well. Few vegetarian-friendly menu items, some items could possibly be made vegan, but I didn't come here for food, so I didn't ask. I can't even remember the last time I had this much fun at a bar! Whiskey Business is probably the worst restaurant in Chicago I've ever experienced. 1. Service- This was the only bright spot of the evening of my Thursday, September 2nd visit around 6pm with my three other buddies. The waitress was attentive and very helpful. My only criticism was she didn't tell us the rest of the experience was going to be horrible. I'll give service a B+ 2. Atmosphere- This establishment having roof top seating was a huge selling point. Walking into a totally empty ground level should have told us to turn around and leave, but against our better judgement we pressed on and walked upstairs to the roof top. The rooftop areas looked like Miami Vices's Crockett and Tubbs vomited on a miniature golf course down the block from a trailer park. The only thing worse from the pink plastic flamingos hanging from the cheesy lights was the horrible techo remake music that was blasting from the speakers. I'll give atmosphere a D+ Food- We ordered beers from their limited menu. They were served in plastic cups that were supposed to look like glass. We're not toddlers. We can drink out of real glass. We ordered steak nachos as an appetizer. The order came to our table in about five minutes, but the nachos were cold, but the cheese was melted. Not sure how that worked. We ordered our entrees next. The order consisted of two hamburgers, a chicken sandwich and a burrito bowl. The order appeared at our table in a matter of minutes. Awesome you say? Wrongggg!!! It was obvious that the chicken and frozen hamburgers were cooked well in advance and dipped in a horrible sauce. Fries were cold. Burrito bowl was bad too. It was a disaster. Had an absolutely amazing Saturday brunch experience with my friends here! We made reservations beforehand for a group of 4 and were immediately seated on the upstairs patio upon arrival. We had decided on this place because they had bottomless drinks for $25 during brunch with the purchase of an entrée. The let you choose one drink (mimosa, manmosa, bloody mary, or miller light draft) which you can continue to order during the 90 minute reservation you have. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and came back to our table enough times to where we could get our next round of drinks as we were finishing our last. I was able to snag a total of 9 drinks thanks to her. My group also enjoyed the food. I split the chicken tenders and truffle fries with a friend and we were both blown away with how much we liked them! Chicken tenders were crispy and the length of my hand, and the truffle fries came with enough to share. My other two friends ordered the classic and french toast (would recommend the french toast!). This was such a fun experience with amazing drinks and food. We also came on a sunny day and enjoyed the atmosphere. This place is so fun! It's young, hip, and has a great vibe. We had a reservation for the roofand strongly suggest you make one too because the line to enter could be pretty long. We came and waited outside until our table was ready, which was about 15 minutes. When we were seated, we ordered our food and drinks. Everyone inside work a mask and there were heaters, which was MUCH appreciated. The ambiance is fun! Think neon lights with a dark sky. They also offer curling competitions and lanes, which could be very fun! I ordered the fries with buffalo chicken, which was very interesting. Booked a reservation for a birthday brunch through exploretock and they took a deposit fee and turns out that Whiskey Business didn't apply that credit onto the bill as stated. I noticed the following day and called when they open to ask about it. So I was overcharged! When I called, the manager was not there and had to call again and then they were able to refund the fee from exploretock. Okay the overall experience could have been better. We were running a bit late for our reservation so I called to inform them and they stated that they can only hold the table for 15 min so we were rushing. Upon arrival, we were not able to get seated till the whole party arrives but then someone else said that at least more than half has to be present so miscommunication because we were only 2 people short of 10 people reservation. When that cleared up, we were seated. Our server was not checking up on us as frequently as he should when we had bottomless mimosa option so our glass was not filled as often as it should have. Food was just okay nothing spectacular to note. Been here other times for just drinks so I think that just what made it an overall better experience because they have frozen drinks and it was more chill. I went here on a Wednesday afternoon with a friend. I was surprised at how small the rooftop was since it looked bigger in pictures in social media. It wasn't crowded since it was a Wednesday afternoon. FYI, there's no charge to make reservations for a table during the week but they charge $50 per person for reservations on we Ambiance: The rooftop was smaller than I expected. There's a downstairs with a bar but no one was sitting there. For the upstairs, there's an indoor portion and the outdoor portion which had the plastic white sectionals to the left, tables with colorful chairs in the middle, and "beach house" seating to the right. The theme was nautical and there were lifeguard chairs at each end of the rooftop and the decorations on the wall made it look like a boat (I think). I wish there was a view of the city instead of the tacky decorations and there wasn't much to look at. Music was okay (they played Fifth Harmony and Miley Cyrus). Food: We ordered the chicken tenders ($12) and chicken sandwich ($13). Even though they're a dollar in difference, you're better off ordering the chicken sandwich because you at least get toppings with the chicken and fries are included. The chicken itself was a bit greasy but at least it wasn't dry. I liked the seasoning on the fries. I tried my friend's lemon pepper sauce and it was just not edible and it was way too sour. Drinks: We had the Strawberry Daiquiri, Miami Vice, Cool Rummings, and the Blue Hawaiian. The drinks were yummy and strong! The only thing I didn't like was that it came in small plastic cups and it was $13. I understand that they are taking precautions due to the pandemic but looking at the plastic cups, it didn't look like it was worth $13 due to the volume and amount of drink that was in the plastic cup. Service: Our server was nice. Make sure to double check your bill. Our check had 18% gratuity added in the bill even though there were only 2 of us.. I also didn't like that the tables were way too close for my comfort and it felt less than 6 feet apart in between the tables. The manager Sonia made my birthday experience a night that I will cherish forever. Me and My friends had such a great time. Everything was just perfect from the staff, drinks ,food and ambience. Me and my partner went to this place last week. We arrived at the entry door, after getting out of his truck, which was running very cold air conditioner, as it was high 80's that day. At the entry door, a gentleman attempted to take our temperatures - (no problem with us) and it kept reading "error" or "Err" on the screen. He kept saying, well looks like ya'll gonna have to wait outside here on the sidewalk and cool down. He took it three more times, and I finally suggested - perhaps the battery is low in the thermometer. He grabbed one inside from the host and both of our temps came back just fine on the first try. No apology. We get up to our table....yes, I did enjoy the scene. It was nice and laid back. You had a large staff bolstering "security" t-shirts who were literally shooting water guns at guests....flirting with women all over....and just being out-right rude with some guests. I observed one guest attempting to eat and the while "security" person shouted loudly with a mega phone to put on your mask -- the guest was eating!!! The drinks were watered down...very small plastic cups for $11-$13 bucks. Service was HORRIBLE - one of the worst experiences with service ever. I always, always tip - this time I did not. The food, meh.....I would have been much more pleased by having Taco Bell!! Music was too loud. It started raining and we came into the bar area where no one was sitting and no reserved signs were present and had to bring our food and drinks in. Then someone rudely came over and said, no you can't sat here, these are reserved. I said, where does is say they're reserved. They said, they just are....then I witness a white couple come in and sat at the table beside us....the person telling us that the bar table we had sat at was reserved looked at the white couple -- and then looked at us and walked away. I look over again and the table that the white couple had sat at had a TABLE RESERVED sign on it!! I saw drugs being done in the bathroom. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it seemed pretty busy. There were lots of people both downstairs and upstairs eating, drinking, and having a good time. This review is only for curling. I don't know of anywhere else you can do curling, so it's hard to compare. Overall, it's not real curling -- instead it's all plastic floors, no brushes, and similar to playing bocce ball, but outside. As disappointed as I was that it wasn't real curling, I was pleasantly surprised that there were outdoor heaters, giant screens with fireplaces playing, and no pressure to purchase drinks. It was easy to make the reservation online and the service was fine. For $35/ hour for up to 8 people, I thought this was a fun and affordable activity to do with friends. read more

We stopped in while visiting Chicago for a music festival. It was lively. When we checked in at the door, a man was standing at the host stand. About 5'10... dirty blond/light brown hair... white guy. He didn't say hello or anything like that. He demanded ID's and complain about my backpack/purse. There were no manners or any kind of quality service coming from the host stand. The bartenders were great; but the food was average at best. We won't be returning. read more

If you told me that I was going to go curling while in Chicago, I would've laughed. Even though curling was invented in Canada, I'm ashamed to say that this Canadian has never curled before. Until my trip to Chicago. My friend suggested Whiskey Business as part of our Sunday Funday tour and for their fun and laid back vibe. We were able to reserve a curling lane for an hour. First things first, their curling lanes are located on their rooftop; in the winter, they have heaters scattered throughout. They also have cabins that you can reserve that have games, cozy couches, and more. They screamed winter cozy the minute I saw them. Since I'd never curled before, my friend explained the rules to me. Easy enough! We took advantage of the full hour and played a couple rounds. Once our hour was up, there was another group waiting to use the lane. Didn't realize this was such a popular activity! We ordered food and drinks from the bar downstairs since the upstairs bar was taking a long time. Food wise, we split an assortment of pub food - mini corn dogs, chicken strips, large french fries, and pretzel nuggets. Drink wise, I stuck to the mango white claws. Hey, don't judge me - we don't have these in Canada and I had to take full advantage of them! I was really impressed with the food - everything was so good and they were generous with all the sauces they gave us. Our server initiatlly forgot the mini corn dogs, but quickly put in the order and then sent out a round of tequila shots - which we loved! Loved the entire concept of this bar and it made for a great Sunday Funday. Vancouver, needs to step up their game and open up a Whiskey Business! read more

We loved this bar. We reserved one of the sweet shacks and were led to the roof when we got there. It was pricey at $100/hr. It was the end of December and quite cold, yet our little room was toasty warm. It was decorated in an 80's theme and lodge decor. We had some chicken appetizers that looked good but had very little taste. We ordered whiskey and beers here. On the rooftop outside our mini cabin we could watch curling. Once our hour was up, we joined in the curling. It was a lot of fun and we agreed we'd do it again. Although we probably wouldn't rent out the cabin again. The large bar downstairs looked like the perfect place to hang out. So we will be back to do just that. read more
