Nice food but "hipster pretentious" and definitely overpriced, considering the size of the portions. I don't really feel it was worth the cost. It's the kind of restaurant that's hugely successful for a couple of years with its eclectic menu, then disappears suddenly (see: Lark on the Park). This place was an excellent find! Our waiter was about as good as it gets and the food was phenomenal. We started with the goat cheese fondue. The waiter told us the story about where the Ruby goat farm got its name, which we loved. I had the duck which was great. Brussel sprouts were great too. Bought the quarantine kit with cookie dough, made some tonight and was super excited for the late night treat. I bit into my cookie, and there was meat in it? As a vegetarian I was confused and unsure if this was really what I was tasting but I had my meat eating sister try it too and she verified. There were tiny chunks of some sort of ham or bacon or something and it was really upsetting that they would just put that in without so much as a warning on the packaging. I frankly feel sick to my stomach now and I don't trust eating anything else from the quarantine kit. If they put meat in COOKIES of all things, who knows what else it could be in. I have no pictures because I threw those disgusting things away. The meat chunks ruined the flavor even for my sister who loves meat. read more

We used to love it here. Food and service has been going downhill since they opened. Today we had WC old fashions and they were terrible. Our favorite chicken melt sandwich had WAY too much mayo and zero pesto. Also included a total our 4 chips. Plano location was amazing, Irving location is a poor second. read more

Okay, so I've been here three times and finally decided I should commit to a review. If you're looking for a great group Restuarant or something with delicious food options that are not your every-day/basic meals I would recommend this place without hesitation but if you're wanting the full experience and service means a lot to you- this should not be your #1 choice. Food: 10/10. Well, it was nothing short of Amazing. We had the Mac and Cheese, Fondue, Green Tomatoes followed by a little of everything. I personally ordered the Chicken and Cheese melt with the cheesy broccoli Couscous side. It was delicious. No complaints. I'd order it again if I could. It was large enough to share with at least 1 other person, or take home for a second meal. Ambiance: Second time here and it's just Really cute. They have a nice set up, it's not too loud and it's great for a group. Honestly, it was great and exactly what we expected. With all of this said, going to eat is all part of an experience. Some people value food/flavor and others see the whole package. I am a total package person meaning the service i experience usually determines if I ever come back to a place... this service was Really bad. The hostesses were really nice, knowledgeable and friendly. They were efficient and honest so I appreciated that. Our server however was really unpleasant. He left a lot to be desired. He was a jerk and a bit of a chauvinist. He offended us and was too comfortable in his interactions and comments. He made jokes about women and addiction in the short time that he was our server. In addition to his lack of professional behavior, he made mistakes on our orders (probably because he was too busy talking about himself) and when we asked for him to correct the order he said it was our mistake not his. There were 6 of us at the table, all of us heard the same order and somehow he seemed to think he got it right and we were all wrong. We, being previously in the service industry, accepted the mistake and told him we would still pay for the mistaken appetizer (to spare him and the kitchen from having to waste the food.) He still even after this, continued to be extremely rude and had no self awareness. Fast forward 20 minutes when we get our food, one meal is missing the side order (so we let him know and waited for the order to come out- he finally came back saying that it was the kitchen's fault and asked if we still wanted it. We did.) We waited another 15 minutes and waived him over.... we asked for our checks at this point as everyone wrapped up their meals and he still hadn't brought the side item (no big, things happen...) so we asked to have the item removed when we get our checks. He was a jerk again making a comment about whether or not we were sure because we seemed indecisive. At this point all 6 of us were over it and when we get our checks, once again there was a mistake. We made him aware of the mistake and he had no interest in correcting it so we just paid our tabs and left disappointed at the experience. If I hadn't been here two times previously, I would never come back based on my most recent experience. We notified the hostess area of our experience in hopes that they can coach this particular server on how to better treat the customers. Long post summarized: Great Food, bad Server. read more

So we've eaten here once before and we're like "eh, what's the fuss about?" Well this last weekend we tried it again and both of us decided to try the Double Double Burger. Folks, this is the best burger I've had in a long time. You don't need to add any additional condiments, pull anything off. It is delicious as is. We also ordered Mac & Cheese because theirs is amazing. They almost need a spiffed up version as an entree. And the deviled eggs are a delicious starter. The garnish/flavor is rotating so it's a fun surprise to have. This visit we tried the Whiskey Cake. All I have to say is wow! The way the crust on the cake is caramelized to the glaze and the toasted pecans? A must try for sure! Just come for dessert, honestly! I went here Sunday morning and it was absolutely spectacular. I had a server named Julia! She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I was extremely indecisive on what to get for my breakfast meal, but she help narrow down what I wanted to get. I really have nothing bad to say! I would say the whiskey cake was a little bit dry! Was one of my favorite places till the past few times I've been, the food and service have been disappointing. Today my food came out cold; i had asked that the meat/egg/cheese items not be on the waffle, but next to it. Dish came out with each item in a pile of its own; cheese slices on the plate all alone, then a pile of ham by itself, then the sausage patty by itself, the 1 egg on a separate plate. Was missing part of the dish, my friend's soup came without a spoon, took 10 minutes to get the glasses for the Bloody Mary bar. The waitress was not very personable. The food and service have not been what they were a year ago unfortunately; hopefully that changes. read more

Makes you look like you don't know what you are doing at all when you have so many customers standing around without at least putting bthem at a table and getting them some water or something. The French toast was totally saturated and soggy, and definitely too small of a proportion for what we paid. We had to ask multiple times for them to bring syrup for dishes that were supposed to come with it already. Came here for brunch today and was extremely impressed. The hosts were very nice and welcoming and our server Chanelle was one of the best servers I've ever had. We started with the Bloody Mary bar and the biscuits with gravy. This was AMAZING!!! We also tried the banana pancakes, Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese, and the eggs Benedict. The pancakes were sweet and flufft and the Benedict had avocado smashed on it. So good. Wasn't a fan of the Mac because it was just way too rich. We made reservations for Valentines and wasn't sure how the service would be for that night, but was pleasantly surprised. The service was good, the drinks were good, the whiskey cake was heavenly!!!!! But I was most impressed with the manager, Jacob who stopped by our table to see how everything was and although he was busy, took time to get to know us and tell us about him and the restaurant. It was impressive! I am a manager and had two bad days of customer service complaints, so I made a point to call him Thursday to tell him the "good" that he did, and his staff! I had lunch here last Friday with coworkers for a birthday lunch. Arriving at 11:25 the option of waiting 30 minutes for inside seating or no wait to sit outside. I was parking the car, and my party opted to sit on the patio. It's 100 degrees. The patio is covered, has an open waist height railing and plastic awnings to the ceiling. There are tables for about 50, and there is one fan, without misters. It was very warm, we were greeted with glasses of water that were room temperature, no ice. I had to ask for glasses of ice for the room temperature water. I don't think I would have minded however the server was not attentive to get us in, served and on our way. He acknowledge that we were on a work lunch, the entire lunch took an hour. The food was good, the service was too slow. We had to keep reminding him to bring things that we asked for like salt and pepper and straws and dressing, and glasses of ice, etc. prolonging the stay in the heat. If patio seating is an option in this Texas heat, there should be air or misters. Not a good first experience. read more

My Wife and I went to this new Whiskey Cake location on a Friday night after attending a show that made us miss dinner. We got to the restaurant at about 11:00 PM, with the knowledge that they closed at midnight. We were seated promptly by the hostess that told us that she would be leaving shortly (you know, because it's getting close to closing time). First of all, it was so DARK in the restaurant that I had to use the light of my cellphone to read the menu. Since we had been to another Whiskey Cake location, we were familiar with the concept and the quality of the food. We made our selections rather quickly and began waiting for our waitress or somebody to just bring us some water. We were sat next to another couple who were mid-meal when we had arrived. While we sat there for more than 15 MINUTES, I saw a waitress visit the table next to us at least two times. She didn't even look our way. I turned to my wife and said, "I hope this woman is not our waitress, because she has just ignored us for the last 15 minutes." To my surprise, the young lady, Alysia, went to the back and returned with a milk bottle of ROOM TEMPERATURE water and poured my wife and I a glass. I ordered the beyond meat burger and HAND CUT FRIES W/ MUSTARD SEED KETCHUP. When our food arrived, I was told that the fries were being made fresh and that they were taking a little longer. About 5 minutes later, the fries were delivered. I bit into one of the fries and began looking for the the mustard seed ketchup. No KETCHUP. WTF. In short, we were ignored when we were sat at our table and when I ordered fries, they arrived after my meal and without ketchup. I tried to get Alysia's attention so that I could get some ketchup. I saw her go from table to table. I waved my hands to try and get someone to notice us, but no one did. Finally, I had to get up and go to our waitress to get the ketchup that was supposed to be delivered with the food. This is not service. This is BS. My wife enjoyed her food, but my experience was ruined by crappy service. When the bill came, I paid it and left a tip of a little more that 20%. This is what I always do because I have worked in restaurants. TIP is an achronyhn for To Insure Promptness. I received poor service and nothing was prompt about the service we did receive. I will probably never go back to the Whiskey Cake, because there are so many restaurants in the area and my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Had a great Valentine's dinner last night. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the decor was unique and very fitting for the type of menu and vision they display. Also, our service was great from the get go, and we appreciated that! The mussels were fantastic- the broth and extra ingredients (ham, onion, kale) put this starter over the top! We both had the "yard bird", and it did not disappoint! The chicken was tender and juicy, while the brussel sprouts kept their soft yet crunchy texture! If you ever get the chance to dine here, don't pass it up! I skip on dessert about 98% of the time, but their whiskey cake is amazing. It's hard to put into words how good it is, especially with their homemade whipped cream served on the side. You'll have to go see for yourself! read more

Highly recommend this restaurant! Every time I visit the Dallas area, I will make it a point to eat here. The food is absolutely delicious. We started out with the deviled eggs and we were thoroughly impressed. I ordered the Whiskey Braised Short Rib and it was so tender I did not need a knife. It was perfectly cooked and had the best flavor I have had in a red meat in a long time. My dinner partner had the Rotisserie Farm Bird and the seasoning was definitely authentic and very tasty. As the name suggests, Whiskey is their specialty and there are several types to select. The waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. I can't say enough good things.
