Whiskey cake is still one of my favorite places and every time I have new friends coming to town and family to visit I will take them here. The food is always good and I love that they have the bloody Mary bar, even though I have not really been drinking that often. If you ever are in the area, make sure to give them a try you will not be disappointed. The service is always pretty good too.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing dining experience at Whiskey Cake in Irving, Texas, and it's safe to say we'll definitely be back! From the start, our waitress, Sheba, made the experience exceptional. She was warm, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. We loved chatting with her, and her honest recommendations helped us choose some incredible dishes. We decided to share the Surf & Turf special, featuring shrimp and a perfectly cooked ribeye, and it did not disappoint. Everything was cooked beautifully, flavorful, and well-portioned. We also ordered the Candied Bacon and the Crab Cakes, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The candied bacon was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, while the crab cakes were packed with flavor and tasted fresh. To drink, we had the Strawberry Hibiscus Margarita, and it was hands down one of the best summer cocktails I've had. It was refreshing, beautifully balanced, and the perfect pairing with our meal. Between the outstanding food, welcoming atmosphere, and Sheba's top-notch service, this was a five-star experience from beginning to end. If you're visiting Whiskey Cake, do yourself a favor and ask for Sheba if you can. We left full, happy, and already looking forward to our next visit!

Lucky on a weeknight- not overly busy. Casual vibe. Service was great! We had a team of 2. Really good food! HH spinach artichoke is definitely small, but was fine. Pork chop was juicy! Burger was awesome. Chicken sandwich subbed w the garlic aioli - ok, would get something else next time. Whiskey cake- delicious!

Whiskey Cake has genuinely good vibes -- warm, lively, and a little rustic in the best way. It's the kind of place where you settle in and instantly feel like you're in for a cozy meal. The famous whiskey cake itself is a calorie‑loaded situation, but honestly... worth it. Sweet, rich, warm, and absolutely designed to make you forget every intention you had of "just taking one bite." Overall, a fun spot with solid food, friendly energy, and a dessert that knows exactly how to steal the show.

Everything was divine at Whiskey Cake. I was skeptical going in just cause it felt so cliche being in Texas, but my meal was so delicious. We had a reservation and were sat right on time. I had the Wood Grilled Salmon -- together with the potatoes, mushrooms, and leeks with chowder broth, it was amazing. Our server was attentive and definitely knew how to offer us all of their best options and upgrades. We had a great experience and enjoyed our time at Whiskey Cake!

Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar - Comfort, Cocktails, and a Sweet Finish A quick stop in Fort Worth to visit friends during our six-week road trip led us here, and it turned into one of those "glad we chose this place" kind of nights. The space is large, comfortable, and full of life, even on a Wednesday evening. There are cozy sofa corners if you want something a little more intimate, plus an outdoor area that's "outside"... but not too outside, which honestly feels like a win. Drinks were a highlight. My boulevardier was spot on, and then I shared a smoked Old Fashioned with my friend that was just... exquisite. Smooth, balanced, and a little dramatic in the best way. Food held its own. The chicken and waffles were delicious, the chopped chicken salad was fresh and satisfying, and my friend's Reuben got a lot of love from her side of the table. And then came dessert. We shared the Whiskey Cake with praline ice cream, and let's just say, it lives up to the name. Decadent, rich, and absolutely worth it. Service was really good. Attentive without hovering, and thoughtful in those small ways that stand out. At one point, our server split the Old Fashioned for us without us even asking. That kind of anticipation earns points. This is the kind of place you return to when you're back in town. Comfortable, reliable, and just indulgent enough to feel like a treat.

Fantastic happy hour! There is a Whiskey Cake in Jacksonville so visiting one and another city wasn't top of my list however on Cinco de Mayo when the Mexican restaurant next-door is over a two hour wait I figured I'd stop in to Whiskey Cake for a margarita. I am so glad I stopped in the happy hour was happening and so I was able to grab a seat at the bar and get a margarita for $7!!! Well if I'm being honest, technically I got two margaritas for that price! The service was wonderful. I came about 15 minutes before happy hour was over and the server came around and double checked on everyone in her section prior to happy hour being over and let them know it was coming close to being over so we could put our last orders in! Well, I might not have gotten the quesadilla. I want it. I am really happy that I was able to get a margarita on Cinco de Mayo thank you Whiskey Cake!

If I'm being completely honest, I would go hear and get a piece of Whiskey Cake EVERYDAY if I wasn't worried about my sugar intake. The restaurant is named after it for a reason. This visit we didn't get any entrees or drinks we were there for the cake. We don't have one in our state so we were ECSTATIC to find out there were a few in the metroplex area. We did go 2 out of our 4 days there. Just get the cake, ask for a middle piece. Everything is locally sourced and the whipped cream is made fresh and you can tell. Every bite is heaven. The slices are pretty big so 2 of us share one. The service is fantastic and fast. Zero complaints. We also learned on our last visit that they ship the whiskey cake.. not sure they should've told me this lmao because I will be ordering.

Great service from start to finish. The chicken and waffles were delicious and definitely a standout dish. Everything came out well prepared and flavorful. One thing to note: they only offer regular coffee, so don't expect specialty or fancy coffee drinks. Overall, a solid experience with good food and attentive service. Would come back.

Met up with some friends here for dinner and it was popping! I've never seen a place so busy on a Tuesday. Great atmosphere. We checked in with the hostess and were warmly greeted and seated right away. They have happy hour from 3-6pm with specials on drinks and bar bites, so right away we put in an order for a couple of drinks and the tater tots. We also got the Brussels sprouts. For my main, I ordered the steak frites and subbed the fries for the Cajun butter potatoes. I also got the happy hour old fashioned and an espresso martini. The steak was good, and although I didn't taste much of a Cajun flavor on the potatoes, I liked how they were cooked. The Brussels sprouts are amazing, highly recommend. I also enjoyed my drinks. I was so full after my meal that I didn't have room for dessert, but I would love to try the whiskey cake next time.

Went there this morning for Mother's Day Brunch. We had a 9:00 reservation and we were seated immediately. The Ambiance was great - really hip and cool. Lots of space. The food was great - I had excellent Fish & Chips, my wife had the Black Forest French Toast (like a dessert!) and the kids had Chicken Waffles. And my Cold Fashion was to die for! We drew the short straw and didn't get the best waitress. We had to ask for water and didn't get the extras that came with the meal (no malt vinegar for F&C, not hot honey for waffles) but that was an anomaly as I watched the other wait staff being quite attenative to their tables and them getting all the fixin's. We will go back and give it another shot.

This place is very nice with a high-end but very relaxed atmosphere. I had a crispy chicken sandwich (sub honey mustard), which may have been the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Even the rum punch was next level. Our server was super nice and very helpful. She said she was new, but she was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered every one of our ridiculous questions. My sister and I split their infamous whiskey cake which was a very generous portion. Good God that thing is good! Can't wait to come back with my husband to try the fish and chips.

Service was quick, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd hope for. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The candied bacon was overwhelmingly salty and completely missed the mark. The bowl of chili was also disappointing--Tabasco was the only flavor that really came through. Ironically, the best part of the meal was the crackers served with the chili. They were the highlight of the dish and honestly helped bring my overall rating up to three stars.

Ask the Community - Whiskey Cake

Is there a HH? If so what are the days/times and discount? TIA

    Is there a party room?

They have room that can be used for large parties.

Is Happy Hour still happening on Fridays? I've seen some comments it is not. Just want to confirm.

    No.

What's the best seating area, High top, inside or patio?

    That's a matter of preference.

Are masks being required? And is this place kid friendly?

When I went in early November, masks were not required, only recommended.

Should I make a reservation or would I be able to walk in and get a table (dinner time)? EDIT:…

You can make a reservation for convenience and to ensure you have a space! However, when I went, there was no need for one.

    Do they offer wifi?

Yes, they do. We were there just last week

Are you open on New Years Day?

    Yes why wouldn't they be.

Do you have vegetarian-friendly patties for your burgers?

Yes! We have the beyond meat burger.

Is there a time that brunch ends on Sundays or do they serve the full menu all day?

Hello Bree! Brunch ends at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays but we are able to execute a few of the item's all the time. Feel free to email me at tj.staples@whiskey-cake.com if you have any other questions. Thank you! TJ Staples Managing Partner

Do they allow dogs in the patio area? Trying to find a decent restaurant allowing furry friends :)

I don't think so go to Lazy Dog in Colleyville instead.

Do they have many TVs? Looking for a good dinner/football watching spot 🏈

Like the others have mentioned... Its really a gathering spot vs. sports bar... They have a couple of TVs at the bar... I believe from what I remember those are the only ones. So you will most likely have a good dinner, but that is about it... it…

Recently, I had lunch here, and they now have a new farm to table menu that really exceeded my expectations. The Ranch has reinvented itself many times, and now it's a restaurant I would visit for the food AND atmosphere. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - At its core, it's a bar with several indoor and outdoor dining areas with a country theme. The Ranch is so versatile that you can host a private event while people dine in the main area while others hang out at the bar. There's also a charming outdoor area that is nice if the weather is cool. Best of all - it's full of people and energy. 1 Star. Service - Our server was great. We explained the concept, went over the menu, and while a large table occupied his time, several of the staff were helpful. Everyone was dressed in Cowboy/Ranch gear. Texas Southern Hospitality is real. 1 Star. Food - My most recent visit was like visiting a new restaurant. The Ranch's menu has changed, and everything was new. I started with the pork belly appetizers, which was a great start to meal. The tender pork meat had a layer of sweet + salty belly that melts in your mouth. I went with the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese that was one of the best I've ever had. The barbacoa (shredded BBQ beef) was the star and was better than any brisket grilled cheese I've had. The sourdough was grilled with lots of butter, so after devouring the sandwich I had to wash my hands. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Absolutely. I had been to The Ranch so many times I considered a place to gather for Happy Hour. Not anymore. The new menu is incredible, and I can't wait to return. 1 Star.

This was my first time here, and we had actually spied the current Burger Battle online before we arrived. It was a tough call, but Hatch chile season only comes around once a year, so we went with the "Hatch Me If You Can" burger with chiles, queso and tortilla chips. DELISH. But the real star of the show was the Cobb salad. It was loaded with goodies -- goat cheese, bacon, avocado and more -- but the absolute BEST part was the tempura battered jalapeños. WOOO-EEE. Those things were tremendous! And hot tip: there's a happy hour with $6 sangrias (I think they're called Rattlesnakes?). Whatever they're called, they were YUM. And yum again. A couple of less-great notes: the bathroom was kind of annoying. TP was out in every stall, and ladies, can we all agree that if you have to scoot back over the toilet in order to shut the stall door, the stall is too small? There is plenty of room in the bathroom, so that was a frustrating trip to the loo. Another hot tip: get the sweet potato fries! They seem to be less frequently ordered, which means you're more likely to get them hot. We were initially delivered someone else's order, and before I realized it, I did have one of their (cold) fries. Overall, a really tasty meal with some standout items. I'd definitely come back -- especially for that Cobb salad and those jalapeños!
