In a town fully stocked with casual brew pubs, it's great to have a proper cocktail bar in Hood River! I've been in a couple times the past few months and it's now my go-to when in the mood for a perfect Manhattan or to experiment with something new. The drinks are crafted from quality ingredients mixed on site (no bottled mixers) by a knowledgeable bar staff that can have an actual conversation about the liquor that goes into your drink. The food menu is limited, but it's a good selection (truffle mac & cheese to die for), and the specials menu always has some tasty items. The place can go from nearly empty to packed in a matter of minutes, making staffing difficult, but if you're willing to be patient and enjoy the scene, you won't be disappointed. Beware though, Friday & Saturday nights, both bars open, the place is packed solid, and the back dance floor bounces. If you're in a hurry, this is not the place. If you want to sit back & savor a well made cocktail, you're there. read more

It's a very beautiful spot, and it's huge...if you keep walking towards the restrooms, you can see the place just keeps going and going. I don't know how they can afford to keep such a large place open...but they do so business must be good. I ordered the Salmon Sandwich. Wary of overcooked fish, I was nicely surprised at how soft and flaky the salmon was. The kraut chi was a nice vinegary touch to balance everything out. It was quite large, enough to share with the wife. Slow day midweek so not many people. Service was prompt and friendly. read more

I really hate leaving bad reviews but here we are. I stopped in on my way back to Portland for a hopeful bloody or just decent service at least but got the opposite. We sat down at the bar and the bartender slowly gave us water and kinda just looked at us then walked away for a bit. When he returned he asked what we wanted and we asked if they made bloody Mary's, the bartenders response was "not good ones". So we opted for our usual well cocktails which were fine. Some people might appreciate the honesty but the way it was delivered was rude and lackadaisical. They were also out of can/bottled beer due to delivery delays which is understandable but again, the delivery of the news was poor and lacked customer service. Last thing I'll say is the women's restroom had no soap and we are dealing with a pandemic. Needless to say I will definitely not be back and totally told a couple on their way in not to go. Came in on a Saturday night for a quick after work drink. Not easy to be at a bar alone. But the bartender was nice and let me know what they had and didn't have. There's a good list of beer, wine, and food. I opted for the Pineapple Kolsh since the Hefe was out. It was the best subtle taste for me with a 4.9%. Strong enough and really enjoyable. Someone next to me ordered calamari and it looked fresh and crisp. If I wasn't already so full I would have been tempted. It was pretty busy with their upstairs filled with beer pong games. The music had high bpm and silent sports channels played on the TVs. Definitely your cool downtown vibe for people on a night out. If I wasn't on a business trip I probably would have stayed longer and socialized more. Lots of millennials enjoying their time out despite the smoky streets outside. read more

I had such high expectations for this place and unfortunately I was disappointed by the service. I went with two of my girlfriends and we sat at the main bar. We were given water right away but waited for 10-15 minutes to get someone to give us menus (we only got them because I had to ask for them). None of the three bartenders came to take our orders and since we noticed that the people who were walking to the other bar in the back were getting their drinks quickly, we left to go back there after waiting like 10 more minutes. Luckily we placed our orders as soon as we walked to the bar in the back. However, the place is way cute. I love that they have a photo booth. It's $2.99 for 4 photos which will get sent to you via text. The drinks tasted really good and I love that the "dust to side chicks" drink came with some "bling". Great addition to downtown Hood River! The bar is beautiful, plus there is a second bar, an upstairs balcony, and a basement game room. Well done on making a cool space. DRINK Excellent beer list - there is something for everybody on there. Solid cocktail menu. Nice liquor choices. Needs a better wine selection - a local winery would be nice to see. I went in just for a glass but settled for something else when I saw the options. A dry cider would have been my second choice, but that was also missing from the menu. All my dreams would come true if this place brought to tap the best cider of all time, located just down the way at River Cider. FOOD Food is served until close, and quality is far better than bar food standard. It could definitely use more vegetarian meal options. I'd recommend the cauliflower bites, now just add a kickass veggie burger to the menu and you'll be golden! read more

It's unfortunate this establishment simply won't do the right thing by owning up to their mistake, giving a refund for services they did not provide, and just move on. Times are tough, we all work hard for the money we earn and spend. There seems to be something troubling with this management and how they run their business. It's hard to rate this place at one star because other than the issue I had their food is good as well as the place itself is nice. However, I ordered a glass of Old Forester Birthday 2018 and was charged $88 a glass with rocks (double shot)! I will caveat and say they gave me a 25% discount after I asked why I wasn't told a price or that it was "pricey". Two others in our party ordered whiskey of different varieties and ended up with $35 and $40 a glass with rocks without any notification as to how much they were going to be. All I can say is nice place BUT ask how much the drink your ordering is BEFORE you order. I was a bit upset to say the least. Appreciate the discount though, thank you for that. read more

0 stars. This place is a scam. If you're getting married in hood river and are looking to book a space for the after party, run the other way! I reserved the upstairs space well in advance for $600. We roll through on the night of my wedding and the upstairs was full of random people. The space wasn't even closed off in preparation for our arrival. Matter of fact, there was a sign that had a totally different wedding party on it. It took ages to finally find someone to talk to. When we did talk to an employee, he was dismissive and proceeded to tell me that there were no reservations under my name. I pulled up my email receipt and showed him the confirmation. He continues to tell me that there is nothing he can do and I should try to contact his manager who wasn't even on site and was at some other event. We asked for a refund and he kept saying that he can't guarantee it. He told us we can go upstairs and come to the side of the bar if we wanted any drinks. He didn't even try to kick the random people out. I felt so helpless. After hanging out for 30 min, he came up with 2 free drinks as if those were going to make up for anything? I emailed the manager that night, and he tells me that because I "used" the space, he cant give me a refund. How does that even make sense?! Did those other random people pay $600 to be there?! I don't think so. I just want my money back! This is beyond unacceptable. read more

Last weekend, my date and I came to this bar during a short trip to Hood River. My date (a black man) had his mask partially on and was politely asked by the bartender to make sure it is on fully while away from our table at all times, and respectably he complied. Right after we ordered our drinks, we looked over and noticed a man(Caucasian) standing in the same spot we were, without a mask on at all. This man stood there for 3-5 minutes conversing with the bartender without a mask. As soon as my date saw this, he immediately blamed the color of his skin, and his sadness was evident throughout the rest of our time there. We chose not to say anything, and left as soon as we finished our first round of drinks. (We were prepared to get a few) Unfortunately this was the first bar we walked into during our trip and we found ourselves anxious walking into every other facility for the rest of our time in Hood River. I do not or at least hope that this was not the intention of the bartender, but I'm writing this in hopes that the bartenders are made aware that during such a sensitive time in our nation about this topic, even little differences in treatment such as our experience, can affect others more than they would ever know. I pray this review helps to avoid another person feeling the way my date did. We were really excited to check this place out because of the name, and unfortunately left very disappointed. Food is delicious. Pleasantly surprised at the plating and quality. Steak bites and Ahi are standouts. Slight hiccup in the kitchen, the food took over an hour to come out and for our table of 9 women, the entrees arrived at inconveniently different times. Worst bar I've been to by far. I'm from Portland and have seen some bad bar service, but my god. Bartender accused me of ordering a drink I didn't, AFTER I had already paid for ours and was walking away with my group; not even the same girl who had helped us, it was a different guy who walked up from nowhere. After the bartender gets irritated with me over the drink, I offer to pay for it anyways since it was my friend's birthday and I didn't want to make a scene over a single drink in a town I'm not from, left no tip, and went downstairs. I'm looking back on my statements from the weekend and this guy had the AUDACITY to turn my no tip on this FORCED drink into $10 and STEAL EVEN MORE OF MY MONEY. Lucky I don't live in the town and it's such a small amount or I'd be back this second. Absolutely appalling service, and to top it all off the drink he made me pay for didn't even taste good. Like cmon the least you could do if you're gonna steal from someone is make the drink taste good, a Kentucky mule isn't even hard to make. We were sitting at the bar for more then a hour and they were helping other customers that showed up after us before we were helped. We came to Oregon from Maryland, stayed at the best western on the river and said screw the hotel restaurant, let's check the local scene. We walked around and found Whiskey Tango thinking why not, as it was 9:00 on a Sunday. The bartender Nick was more than welcoming with great beer and food suggestions We got the Punjabi Tacos and Salmon sandwich that were amazing. Enjoyed them with the pineapple mango cider. This place is AMAZING! We came to Hood River for our anniversary and over the course of 3 days we were here 3x! Austin was our bartender each time and he was super friendly and knew his cocktails. The atmosphere is dark and it feels a bit like a speakeasy at night. They have great music and their food didn't disappoint either. Order the lamb meatballs- they are incredible! I ordered a second drink when we reminded her of our app order (which she wrote down) and I never got my second drink. When we finally asked for the check after waiting another 20 minute for the drink I never got, the waitress charged us for the drink she never made me.
