Stopped by here for lunch today while we were in the area. All I can say is it was meh. The Bloody Mary was almost watered down (weird) and lacking flavor so I returned it for a mimosa which was good. We got lemon pepper wings for an appetizer and that was the best thing I ate. My fiancé got the fish and chips and the fish was good but again, the breading was lacking flavor. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap and it had a drop of Buffalo sauce in it. On Monday of the holiday weekend, we visited Whiskey Warehouse in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte. This rustic looking pub has an industrial feel built into a sports bar with many TV's and a large rooftop patio. We started with the Brussel sprouts appetizer, cooked in a white wine, garlic and parmesan reduction topped with bacon jelly. We are really not sprouts fans, but we gave them a try and were not disappointed. They were roasted, smoky and the bacon jelly could easily get addictive. Dora here. Still not a sprouts fan, but this appetizer is a great way to entice kids, er...adults to eat their veggies. That bacon's like candy! Since May was National Burger Month, we ordered burgers. I selected the Elvis Burger, topped with peanut butter, bacon and cheese. Now I am a peanut butter lover but have never thought about adding it to a burger but will in the future. This burger was large, juicy, and tasted great. You could taste the peanut butter, but it was not overwhelming and blended together perfectly. Dora here. Based on our friendly server's recommendation, I ordered the Bistro Burger, topped with caramelized onions, Brie cheese, bacon and a horseradish dijon aioli. Oh my stars! The major issue I had was watching these Wings I ordered sit up and get cold I just knew they couldn't be mine. Behold they were and they were served to me just like that the cauliflower was good and although whiskey Warehouse closes at 2 am we were closed out tab wise at 11 something. I understand Covid times. We came from out of town to have a drink here. But you have to wait outside and you can't order a drink while you wait. When we decided to get on the waitlist the estimated wait time was 28-45 minutes. We waited 2 hours and 10 mins before leaving as we wasted our vacation away. Disappointed in their system. Limit your guest to 2 hours so more people can enjoy your establishment. Or at least have a system to have a drink while you wait. For the record we got a text our table was ready 2 hours and 20 mins of being on the waitlist. I can say that the atmosphere looks cool and the rooftop looks cool. My husband and I are Bourbon enthusiasts, and we have wanted to check out this place for a long time. We were in the area on Saturday and finally took the opportunity to check this one off our list. We started our order with a Jefferson flight that included Jefferson Small Batch, Jefferson Reserve, and Jefferson Ocean. It was $17. I've been curious about Jefferson Ocean, but never wanted to fork over $100 for a whole bottle without tasting it first. IMHO, bourbon doesn't have to cost a small fortune to be great. I'm glad I waited because I preferred the taste of the Small Batch best. We also ordered a Jack & Coke, which were on special for $4. It was a perfectly balanced cocktail. The coke was sweet, and the Jack wasn't watered down or too strong. (You would think it would be simple enough to never get wrong, but many bars do.). In case you aren't a whiskey fan, they also had double Mimosas and Bloody Mary's on special for $5. I ordered the BBQ pork plate. The meat was moist and seasoned well. It does have some heat to it, but not so much that it overpowered the taste of the pork. I didn't try the slaw, but it was well presented and looked good. I substituted Mac-n-cheese for fries, and they came out hot and crispy. My hubby ordered the fish and chips, and he was also very happy with his food. He said the fish was moist and well seasoned. What really impressed us about this place was the exception customer service we received. Our server patiently answered our questions and checked back frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. ROLL TIDE! I am a frequent customer her on Saturdays in the fall. There are always games on the tvs, drinks flowing, and great food being served. I live within walking distance and I always have a great time here. The Bloody Mary bar is the BEST in Charlotte and you can't beat their chicken and waffles. Burgers are good, lemon pepper wings are great! Service can be slow during busy times, which is expected but overall I always have a great experience. Plus their rooftop is amazing!! Stopped in Friday night with my family. We're we're in town visiting family for the new year. We were a larger group and they were very kind to accommodate us with how busy it was. Everyone was super nice and welcoming. Our server was Dana. She was very prompt , sweet and helpful! They have a relatively standard selection of beer, and unfortunately their menu wasn't updated at all when we went there and several taps were completely empty.Service was great the whole night though! I ordered the spicy teryaki wings, and I think that I have several personal preferences that were not met: I do like a thicker sauce (this one was watery), I get a bit upset when I see entire halves of wings not covered in sauce (this means they weren't tossed and the sauce was just drizzled on), and I also like crispy skin (this was definitely soggy). But the meat was hot and there was a fair amount of it! I also ordered a side of fries and holy cow those were DRENCHED in grease and totally soggy. Every single one of them. And there wasn't any salt either... So although the food was on the lower side of OK, I did enjoy the atmosphere, and I'll continue to come here... I may have just come on an off day. Step 3 - After your server is done updating their Instagram at the server station she will come up to you shocked and appalled that you're the type of horrible human being that would dare order food at a restaurant. How dare you. HOW DARE YOU! She can't even. Step 4 - Your order is sent to the kitchen and I can only assume the ticket is printed in some type of ancient language that the staff has to take several hours to break down and translate. Step 5 - Explain to your friends and family why they haven't seen you in months. Why you've missed holidays, work, birthdays. Spoiler: It's because you're STILL waiting on your food. Step 6 - Get your really solid bar food. Mostly super basic fried food and burgers. It is good tho. Step 7 - Hope to god you have cash to leave on the table because I can't imagine having to wait to get your check back. Step 8 - Step outside and cherish the fact that you've seen daylight once more. A couple of sides to this. Only order something from the bar if you're some kind of weird person that loves punishment. Like the only way you can enjoy that beer is by suffering impossibly for it first. I once ordered a to go pretzel to go. The person that took my order said 10-15 minutes. I literally laughed after we hung up. I being the expert planner that I am showed up in 25 minutes, fully expecting to wait another 5-10 minutes. After 45 minutes ... I got my pretzel. The management is super nice and very apologetic, but at some point sorry isn't good enough and you need to fix your mistakes. If the place was one street over it would have closed down 1 week in. We both ordered Steak and Potatoes and it was a sad experience. The steak was not cooked as we'd requested (got well done and asked for medium) and it was cut into large chunks! So large chunks of well done meat. UGH! The potatoes were the deep fried chunks (clearly a theme here) of potatoes like the airports serve. It was not worth the price! Me and my husband came here for the first time a few days ago, and it was a pleasant experience. We sat on the rooftop (it's a good view but it is a little bit obstructed by trees). It was a hot day, but they had fans out there that kept us cool. The service was good, and the food was awesome. I only give it 4 stars due to it being really slow - which we normally don't mind, but it wasn't busy at all and it took 15 minutes for me to get my Bloody Mary. But other than that, our experience was great. I recommend getting the chicken nachos, and definitely try their Mac & Cheese - It's worth the $2 extra dollars. read more
