Place seemed nice and clean, staff was friendly. I've only been for one visit and I will update once I go back for pizza. But...!!! My wife and I ordered wings. We were definitely disappointed. First they were $35 for 24 wings. That's about $14 more than competitors. Second, they were extremely over cooked. And third, they don't offer drums only or flats only. I understand this is a pizza joint, but you offer wings, and people are gonna eat 'em. With that all being said, highly over priced, and highly over cooked, you gotta have a low score. Just Ok. The good: fresh toppings, lots of cheese, dough was crispy, and the red sauce was decent. The meh: the crust was not NY style, it was standard thin crust and lacked in developed flavor. We got a white pizza and there was not nearly enough seasoning. The bad: nothing bad. I've had better for the price but I've had worse. Not worth driving to go get for me. read more

I've gotta be honest...coming from CT (and what I consider to be the best area for pizza between New York City and New Haven County), this is probably one of the best pizza places I have been to away from home. My friend and I came here after getting our nails done a couple of shops down, and were ready to have a nice lunch. For about $8.00 each, we were able to get a HUGE slice of pizza, a salad and a drink. The drinks are serve yourself (which I'm actually a big fan of). I got the meat lover's and was, in fact, in love. It is a thinner crust with not a lot of sauce but a generous amount of toppings. I got the caesar salad which was also fresh and delicious. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. This is definitely a solid place to stop if you need a good lunch to fill you up - or just, delicious pizza! read more

The food is barely average, and not very good. It's ridiculously over priced for the quality, quantity, location, and it's not some high end restaurant. It cost me $20 for a sub, drink, and fries that were just average tasting. Not only was my food over priced, it took 10 minutes for my sub to come after my fries, so my fries were cold by the time I got my sub. The service was not any better than the food either. It was all teenagers who goofed around the whole time, they checked on us maybe three times, and we sat there 15 mins waiting to ask for the check and a to go box. I could've gotten better food, and customer service at McDonalds to be honest. I will never go back, charging people like that might as well be stealing. read more

To be honest, I don't have much to say about Whispering Pies. We ordered the Zerillo minus the green peppers and there's really not much to say. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great; it was just kind of lackluster. I just felt like there wasn't a defined flavor. The pepperoni and sausage just kind of blurred together and that was it. Meh. Maybe it's because it was the last order of the night (we were the a-holes who unknowingly ordered ten minutes before closing, oops). Maybe it's because I'm a pizza snob having grown up eating pizza in NYC. I'm not entirely sure. Nor am I sure whether or not I'll be back. I've been pretty content with a pizzeria in Pinehurst but was looking for a location a bit closer but alas. I might just have to commit to the drive to Pinehurst. read more

Service leaves MUCH to be desired. IF you claim to have "pizza by the slice" to until 3:00 but at 2:32pm you ONLY have one slice of barbeque chicken then you are NOT a quality business. This establishment has been opened and closed MULTIPLE times and now I understand why. They lost more money having me walk out today without even buying a single slice (let alone the supposed "two slice special" I wanted) than the actual food cost of a large cheese pizza. Here's the thing about Whispering Pies..... It's not awful. It's just not nearly as good as Zerello's, the restaurant it replaces. Zerello's had really good pizza - WP's is really average. Zerello's had many really good pasta dishes and ran daily specials. WP's doesn't do pasta. Vito's pizza is better and so is So Pies. In this area of Moore Co., Zerello's was such a great addition. It was great food; had really nice employees and was the perfect bailout for Whispering Pines residents anytime we didn't feel like cooking. With Whispering Pies, I have to be pretty damn desperate to stop in there now. Such a bummer... read more

If you want local, NY style pizza in Southern Pines this is where I would take you. The knots are delicious and the pizza matches the price! (~$6 for 2 slices and a drink) The staff is incredibly friendly and makes dining a wonderful experience. I think they are going to start delivering too, which is going to be a big plus. For those that don't know this place has the exact same recipes as zerillo's however, the owner had to leave for medical reasons. So if you liked zerillo's you will like WPP! read more

Only other option worth a crap around here is SoPies and I recently heard there is a connection between the two places (don't know for sure) so it all makes sense now. They also do something I've never seen any takeout restaurant do, which is to make sure your order is correct, and show you - I've been burned by places before so many times that this is a welcome change. This is our favorite pizza spot! We typically get a greek pizza for the adults and the standard pepperoni or cheese pizza for the kids. Their wings are also awesome. I usually order ahead and do a pickup but it is also nice to stop in and sit outside for lunch or to come in for dinner and have a glass of wine or a beer along with the great food.
