I actually found myself apologizing, as if I had done something wrong. It was an unnecessarily uncomfortable interaction.

Although this establishment claims to offer gluten-free options, there seems to be a concerning lack of understanding of what "gluten-free" actually requires. I asked detailed questions before ordering and was assured that my selection was safe. After the food arrived--and after I had already started eating--I was then informed that while the crepe itself was gluten-free, the filling was not. That kind of distinction should be clearly communicated upfront, especially when a customer specifically asks about gluten-free options. Unfortunately, the same situation happened with my daughter, who also has celiac. To make matters worse, we were charged for both the incorrect meals and the replacements. In hindsight, I should have asked for a manager, but we were there to visit with a friend and I didn't want to make a scene. Our total for three people ended up being over $80 with the tip I still left. I understand that eating out always carries risk when you have dietary restrictions, and I ALWAYS try to approach it with patience and kindness. We were traveling, so we didn't have much choice. But if a restaurant says they offer gluten-free items, there needs to be a basic understanding (by the wait staff AND the kitchen cooks) of ingredients and clear communication. What should have been a fun outing turned into a weekend of being very sick. Just something to be aware of if you have to eat gluten-free for health reasons - this is probably not the spot for you.

We called to see if they do reservations for my daughter's birthday. They told us they didn't do them only to find out they did. After waiting for over an hour, while staring at tables that could accommodate us we left. Prior to this we used to do take out..... they left out at least one meal on each of the four occasions we tried them. The food is ok, but you only get to eat it if they let you sit down, or if they don't leave out the meal entirely after you pay them. read more

I love the calzones at Valenti's.I go there once a month when I can no longer hold off my craving. The small is more than I can eat and means I have leftovers the next day. The staff is cheery and attentive, and food comes out pretty fast. The only negative is their salads are pretty run-of-the-mill. read more
