This is one of our 'go to' places in the area...except for one issue- We have always loved the food, surroundings & service. Recently we have noticed a 'gnat' issue that really needs to be addressed. During our meal we killed a couple of the little buggers, but several more were there to take their place immediately. An occasional gnat is one thing, but when they interrupt the entire meal, that is excessive and needs to be addressed. We will be back, but we hope this gets addressed- ***Update 2.06.2026 The Tilapia sandwich has been my go to for years but STILL, the issue with this restaurant is the gnat problem! The menu drew us here. The selections were more than enough. Our appetizers were cups of soup. I had the Clam Chowder, she had the Seafood Gumbo. The soups hit the spot on a chilly night after shopping. Our Half/Half Iced Tea was absolutely perfect. We had the Shiner Fish & Chips and the Seafood Platter with Blackened Catfish and fried shrimp with grilled veg and mashed potatoes. For desert; because our waitress Allison twisted our arms so we got the New Orleans Breaded Pudding with Whiskey Sauce. Located on Historic Main St. In Grapevine Big Fish offers a good variety of seafood. The decor is seaworthy and thoughts of being oceanside crossed my mind, we had fried shrimp/fish baskets served with waffle fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and served with and smile and plenty hot, We topped it off with the bread pudding, my goodness what a treat a large cut served in Whiskey Cream Sauce which paired very well and gave it a smooth finish. I have come here a few times for dine in and a few times to get to go orders. I have seen the place be super busy and I have seen the place be a ghost town. The service is consistently okay. You can tell who their regulars are and who are not by how they treat them. No one is rude but they just aren't as nice to everyone equally. The location is great in downtown Grapevine. I have tried their crab legs, sausage, shrimp, corn, potatoes, fried catfish, mini crab cakes, seafood quesadillas, waffle fries, and buffalo shrimp. My partner thinks they have be best crab legs ever. I think they are goo but not the best I have ever had. The sausage that comes with the crab can be a bit spicy sometime. The shrimp in my experience are never cleaned. I wasn't a fan of the mini crab cakes when I had them. There seemed to be a lot of breading and not a lot of crab. By far one of the best things I have tried there was the seafood quesadillas. I got them on a whim and they were great! If you are in the area I would certainly say to stop by and give it a try. read more

The food was okay overall. According to my sister the fried oysters were great. I ordered a simple shrimp basket and the shrimp were good but nothing special. The drinks were just okay as well. My sister's espresso martini was strong while my drink the coconut meltdown wasn't. The service was okay. The staff was friendly but not very attentive. I had to ask twice for tartar sauce. My nephew's kids drink spilled and no one was around to bring him another. When they came to clean it up they didn't even offer to replace his drink. The place is fairly quiet, and we were seated immediately. We were particularly interested in shrimp, and didn't know until we asked that you could get prepared however you like! We chose coconut shrimp along with hush puppies and broccoli slaw. Reasonable portion of shrimp for the price, great coconut taste... Served with a choice of sauces, which were all very good! Decent spot for some seafood. Got to try something new in the blackened redfish. I really liked the sauce that came on it but was slightly unimpressed by the fish itself. Not a very experienced seafood eater but I'd just describe this one as sorta chicken flavored. I think the dish should come with some rice because the fish was a little lonesome even with the two sides. Broccoli slaw was fantastic as a side. My favorite thing I had here. The sauce was great. The gumbo was decent, looked and tasted a little bit sad but was good enough as a side. Service was good, waitress was nice, but the ambience took a big hit by the amount of bugs flying around while we ate. Gnats were very plentiful and they knew it too, they were swinging around one of those fly swatters in one of the employee areas. Definitely detracted some from the experience. read more

We had a large party and they said they could accommodate. They sat us upstairs in a storage room. There were dirty dishes in a bucket, chairs stacked in two corners, raggedy blinds, raggedy looking window air conditioning units. The food and drinks were mediocre, Just a very low grade experience. We stayed because it was getting late. We just took the loss and made the best of the time with each other. Our waitress was nice. I think I could deal w the food, but the area they put us was pure trash. If you can't accommodate large parties, then don't even try. Oh and the GNATS!!! They were everywhere. My family and I chose to go to this restaurant because it was right across the street from one of the wineries we went to. It is in a great location. That is where the greatness ends for me. When we walked in, we were greeted and sat immediately. The building looks to be older, and the booths were tight. The restaurant was pretty crowded so that made me think the food would be great. Our waiter was nice but was hard of hearing, so it made it hard to ask questions, and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. I ordered the fried oysters dinner that came with sautéed veggies and hush puppies. My husband got the catfish platter with macaroni and cheese as well as red beans and rice. My oysters were not fried hard enough and had no seasoning. Thankfully, it had cocktail sauce to make it edible. My veggies were not cooked enough, so I had to work to eat them. My husband's filets were small, his red beans and rice was more like soup, and his mac and cheese was not cheesy. For the area, this food was not expensive, which is why it may have been crowded, but if you want better quality food, I would try some of the other restaurants in the area. read more

I had big hopes for this place as I love Cajun food and had been craving a poboy. However for a Cajun restaurant this place is lacking seasoning which means no flavor. We got seated quickly and the prices are decent, the food came out quick and the folks were friendly, however I feel like I wasted my money cause the food was lacking. I ordered the catfish poboy and I was disappointed that I had more bread than catfish. Instead of shredded lettuce, it was ONE piece of lettuce and I believe 2 slices of tomato with reumaulde sauce on the bread. The catfish was hot but it lacked flavor so I ended up putting some hot sauce on it. The major disappointment for me was the red beans & rice. I love red beans and rice and this was more of a watery broth that lacked any seasoning. I also got the coconut meltdown, which for $5 was a nice little sip to wash everything down. As for the other folks at my table, they too found the food lacking seasoning and flavor. The crab cakes looked like hamburger patties, the rice pilaf was bland, however she stated that the mixed veggies were good. You can get your seafood blackened, grilled or fried. Got the combo plate with blackened catfish, fried oysters and grilled shrimp. Fish was cooked perfect as in just cooked and not dry. Came with 2 sides, chose clam chowder which is more on the mild clam flavor and hush puppies that looked like mini corn muffins that were sweet, warm and crisp on the outside. All this for $18! Also tried their broccoli salad which was very good. It has a Mayo based dressing but there was a lot going on. They also have great desserts, we got a huge wedge of cheese cake and chocolate truffle cake . We love to visit downtown Grapevine, and Big Fish Seafood is where we've stopped on several occasions for lunch. It's a convenient location if you're in the area. Inside, the walls are brick with high ceilings. It's an inviting atmosphere with a small bar, a center section with a few high tops, and two areas on either side with booths and tables. There are large boards on the walls advertising Happy Hour, appetizers, and daily specials. There is a full bar. If you enjoy mimosas, the Dru-mosa is very good. Between the regular menu and the specials, there's a nice variety of options. The food is good, but we've found that some things are better than others. The Lobster Ravioli is delicious!The Crab Legs are okay, but don't consistently taste fresh. Hubby likes the Crawfish. The Shrimp Poboy seemed to be lacking. Service was good on all our visits. Overall, it's a good place if you enjoy seafood, but a bit hit or miss on some of the menu items. You'll have to find your favorites. read more

Still really good but a little under salted this time, seasoning was great but you need salt to drive it home. Also, I typically hate hush puppies but their jalapeno hush puppies are amazing.
