    This was delicious

Located on Historic Main St. In Grapevine Big Fish offers a good variety of seafood. The decor is seaworthy and thoughts of being oceanside crossed my mind, we had fried shrimp/fish baskets served with waffle fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and served with and smile and plenty hot, We topped it off with the bread pudding, my goodness what a treat a large cut served in Whiskey Cream Sauce which paired very well and gave it a smooth finish. We left feeling satisfied and with new energy to burn. Good food, Great Service, Decent price. Definitely a keeper.

Oysters were cooked to pure perfection. Absolutely delicious. Shrimp, peel n eat was served cold and perfect for a Hot Summer day in Texas. The cod was good as well. Service was pleasant and fast. Great location in the heart of Grapevine.

Impressed! The DFW struggles in the Cajun food sector in my opinion. This place was a pleasant delight. Everything was seasoned and cooked just right. Especially the fried food. I am always skeptical about gumbo, although it was missing a kick it was pretty decent with some hot sauce. The service was friendly and accommodating even during the grape festival. Jovial atmosphere, good conversation with neighboring customers. Overall I will be back!

First time back in years, not sure why, as we always enjoyed this place! Sits right on Grapevine Street, fits in with the main street somewhat rustic looking / feel! Came here for lunch. The place is fairly quiet, and we were seated immediately. We were particularly interested in shrimp, and didn't know until we asked that you could get prepared however you like! We chose coconut shrimp along with hush puppies and broccoli slaw. Reasonable portion of shrimp for the price, great coconut taste... Served with a choice of sauces, which were all very good! Loved the broccoli slaw! Strong recommendation, we will absolutely be coming back! Not sure why we waited so long!

Had the grilled catfish dinner. The fish was tasty and had a nice sear. They have a variety of side options.

Seated immediately catfish had nice sear. Nice to have side options that are not fries.

Decent spot for some seafood. Got to try something new in the blackened redfish. I really liked the sauce that came on it but was slightly unimpressed by the fish itself. Not a very experienced seafood eater but I'd just describe this one as sorta chicken flavored. I think the dish should come with some rice because the fish was a little lonesome even with the two sides. Broccoli slaw was fantastic as a side. My favorite thing I had here. The sauce was great. The gumbo was decent, looked and tasted a little bit sad but was good enough as a side. Service was good, waitress was nice, but the ambience took a big hit by the amount of bugs flying around while we ate. Gnats were very plentiful and they knew it too, they were swinging around one of those fly swatters in one of the employee areas. Definitely detracted some from the experience.

Really enjoyed myself here! Our food came quickly and was fresh and flavorful. Service was good too.

My family and I chose to go to this restaurant because it was right across the street from one of the wineries we went to. It is in a great location. That is where the greatness ends for me. When we walked in, we were greeted and sat immediately. The building looks to be older, and the booths were tight. The restaurant was pretty crowded so that made me think the food would be great. Our waiter was nice but was hard of hearing, so it made it hard to ask questions, and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. I ordered the fried oysters dinner that came with sautéed veggies and hush puppies. My husband got the catfish platter with macaroni and cheese as well as red beans and rice. My oysters were not fried hard enough and had no seasoning. Thankfully, it had cocktail sauce to make it edible. My veggies were not cooked enough, so I had to work to eat them. My husband's filets were small, his red beans and rice was more like soup, and his mac and cheese was not cheesy. For the area, this food was not expensive, which is why it may have been crowded, but if you want better quality food, I would try some of the other restaurants in the area.

I had big hopes for this place as I love Cajun food and had been craving a poboy. However for a Cajun restaurant this place is lacking seasoning which means no flavor. We got seated quickly and the prices are decent, the food came out quick and the folks were friendly, however I feel like I wasted my money cause the food was lacking. I ordered the catfish poboy and I was disappointed that I had more bread than catfish. Instead of shredded lettuce, it was ONE piece of lettuce and I believe 2 slices of tomato with reumaulde sauce on the bread. The catfish was hot but it lacked flavor so I ended up putting some hot sauce on it. The major disappointment for me was the red beans & rice. I love red beans and rice and this was more of a watery broth that lacked any seasoning. I also got the coconut meltdown, which for $5 was a nice little sip to wash everything down. As for the other folks at my table, they too found the food lacking seasoning and flavor. The crab cakes looked like hamburger patties, the rice pilaf was bland, however she stated that the mixed veggies were good. They also said the hush puppies were done well but the fried oysters lacked seasoning. Maybe I set my expectations too high but this was a huge miss for me and my group.

Raw oysters were massive, gumbo was good. Nitro crawfish were way way way too salty. Service was great, crawfish just ruined it.

He was patient, attentive, and courteous throughout the evening. The menu is vast so we had many questions and he took his time to answer all of them. We decided to go with the three course menu. I went with burrata appetizer, 9oz filet mignon, and carrot cake for dessert. My medium rare steak was cooked perfectly and paired with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. My friend got the scallop and shrimp sauté. The chefs did a fabulous job searing and cooking steak and seafood tenderly. Our dessert was the baked Alaska, carrot cake, and key lime pie. All were super generous portions enough to share. And the right sweet tooth to finish dinner. I would say Trulucks nailed the high end dining experience. And the food and service sold me to come back again. Thank you!

The Baked Alaska had a cool presentation at the table with the flames but the taste was nothing special. The Carrot Cake on the other hand was awesome. The service at Truluck's was VERY good. Our server, Ashlie was very prompt and friendly, especially catering to the elderly members of our table (and our grad, of course!). Her recommendations of the thyme lemon drop and a wine pairing for my porkchop were wonderful! Also, if you're teetering on grabbing the smorgasbord -- DO IT! It was AWESOME! We also got a lovely visit from a manager, Reigan. She spoiled us with a free dessert for our celebration! But what she really did that was above and beyond was after we left the restaurant. We got home and realized one of our boxed items was left on the table. We called to see if we could still grab it and Reigan not only gave us a fresh side of brussel sprouts but even a free corn brûlée because we were raving about it so much! We will absolutely be visiting again!!

Date night at Perry's last night!…read more First things first: Perry's is gorgeous. Modern, upscale, and elegant without making you feel like you're about to be judged for holding your fork wrong. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Unfortunately, our first dinner companion was...a fly. I know this is Texas and flies don't exactly RSVP, but this one seemed determined to experience fine dining right alongside us. Eventually it either found another table or met its untimely demise. Either way, peace was restored. The manager stopped by within the first 20 minutes to check on us (his visit was unrelated to the fly), which was appreciated. Our server was prompt, friendly, and had excellent timing throughout the meal. The only miss? She gave us the speed-run version of the menu and never mentioned any of Perry's signature dishes. She didn't realize it was our first visit until we were paying the check, which explains why we unknowingly skipped what they're apparently famous for. The warm bread arrived early with butter so soft it practically spread itself. Dangerously good. We split the Caesar salad, and honestly, it may have been my favorite part of the meal. Lightly dressed with house-made croutons and seasoned sunflower seeds, every bite had crunchy, citrusy, salty/spicy goodness that somehow all worked together beautifully. For our entrees, my husband ordered the cedar plank-fired redfish, and I went with the special Beef Wellington. We both had the exact same thought after a few bites: the seasoning was winning the battle...against everything else. We love bold seasoning, but it felt like all the flavors were competing for attention instead of letting what seemed to be beautiful cuts of fish and beef shine. The loaded mashed potatoes, however? Zero notes. Cheesy, whipped, buttery perfection. Dessert was the chocolate chip bread pudding with homemade toasted marshmallow, and this is where things really surprised us--in the wrong direction. It somehow managed to be bread pudding...without much flavor. I didn't think that was possible, but here we are. Completely underwhelmed. To wash down our dessert disappointment, we ended the night with the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini. And honestly? It almost redeemed everything. It tasted like the most decadent chocolate milk you've ever had--with just enough espresso to make it feel classy. This drink is dangerous in all the best ways because it goes down far too easily. Order one...just don't blame me when you immediately want a second. As we were leaving, we finally learned the real star of Perry's is the famous pork chop. Then one was delivered to the table next to us. Y'all...that thing looked about five inches tall, carved into slices like a pie, and could probably feed a small family. Holy moly. Final verdict: beautiful restaurant, attentive service, and some genuinely great bites. But if you're a first-timer, do yourself a favor and order the pork chop. Apparently, that's the move. Guess we'll have to go back and let the giant pork chop have its chance at redemption.

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.
