I find it peculiar writing a review for a pizza shop without actually sampling their food ... But; alas, here I am. Sitting in a chair ... waiting for my food ... it's been an hour (and counting). Should I have left? Maybe. But they were sure to run through my credit card as soon as I arrived. Do they look busy? Yes. Certainly. And I understand that. However, don't say "ok, 20 minutes" if you are in the swamp and need an hour to cook 2 pizzas. I would have smiled, said thanks for the honesty and left for another dinner option. read more

Ordered pick up myself this time rather than delivery. 3 items: Large pepperoni, Large Steak Bomb sub, Large Italian sub. While the food was good / reliable, my order somehow came to $53+ and I gotta say, it had me doing arithmetic on my way walking out the store and to my car trying to figure out how that added up. $22 for a large one topping pizza and $15 for each large sub is how I rationalized it in my head. Next time: confirm total cost up front when placing order on the phone to avoid surprises. read more

Despite this being the only place open after 7pm in this little town, the food and the service were really good. The steak tip grinder was cooked well and seasoned great. The bread could of been cooked more but it didn't taste doughy. The wings were huge , had a nice kick and were crunchy. The wings and the steak tips are made fresh and seasoned there. Even if this wasn't the only place open after 7 on a Sunday I would still go there again ! Plus you have to love a place where you can buy gun, get a pizza , play keno and a six pack of beer. read more

Back by popular demand: Entry #5 on the Let's Get Take-Out on the Way Home from Work on Friday (no longer a Tour of Route 125, due to a series of fortunate events!) Only in New Hampshire, I have a 22-mile drive to work and during this drive, I pass exactly ONE business between my home and work. Of course, I opted to make this business my Friday take-out stop. I was a little disappointed that I was told it was a 30-minute wait when I called in my order for a "Town Hall" specialty pizza, but I dealt with it. This pizza is topped with sausage, mushrooms, onions, and peppers. It is one of the numerous specialty pizzas offered on the huge White Buffalo Trading Post menu. Their menu truly has something for everyone. I browsed around the quirky little general store, which has literally everything you can imagine. It reminded me of The Big Red Store that used to be in Twin Mountain before it was turned into Mooseland Grill and subsequently burned down. Business in the pizza part of the building seemed brisk for a Friday at 5PM. I watched a couple locals carrying a pizza box down the street when I pulled in. At least two other large orders of 3 pizzas or so were picked up before me. The guy at the register was super friendly and nice and the lady who worked on preparing food also joined in our chatter. This is a small town place with a good vibe. When I got home, my pizza had cooled slightly, so I stuck it, HUGE box and all, into the oven while I snagged a glass of wine and my first slice. The crust was exceptionally crispy and tender. The toppings were as expected. The pizza had plenty of cheese and sauce. I was amazed by how much larger the pizza was, when compared to most pizzas. Even with its huge size, the crust was perfect throughout- no soggy middle or burnt edges. I was starving, but I was only able to eat three slices before calling it quits. I have plenty of leftovers for a snack or another whole meal if I need it. Since this is the only restaurant on my journey to and from work, I think I'll be a frequent visitor. I do plan to take a longer alternate route up to the Alton Traffic Circle and then down Rt 11 and Rt 125 for future Fridays as long as I stay happy at my new job! read more

Delivery can take a while, so if you're not in a hurry or not in a condition where you can drive, go for it. Otherwise, just pick up your order if you're local. Our favorite is the Barnstead PD pizza! It has never been a disappointment. It's HUGE & worth the money. The crust is super duper good. The Freedom Fries are also pretty darn good. I used to get the Jalapeno Poppers, but in recent times they don't ever seem to have them. The store is cute & quaint. Sometimes I pick up some regular "pantry" items from there if I don't feel like going into Alton for Hannaford or to Dannis Market in Pittsfield. Sure, it's a little more expensive, but that is to be expected. read more

White Buffalo is a store providing comforts in all sorts of basic, grand and unusual ways. I love their breakfast sandwiches, pizza, Roadies chicken, various other comfort items, and customer service. Sure, you pay generously for some items, but this is a little American Dream smack dab in the middle of many paths. Stop by and try it if you're feeling adventuresome. I've tried to do business at this FFL a couple of times. The owner is too greedy to work a reasonable trade, even though they claim to "buy sell and trade". He very much operates a one-way counter, unless you are okay with getting ripped off. He could have made a grand off my last offering... The other side of the issue is pricing. White Buffalo prices are extremely high on everything from firearms to pizza. I just don't see myself ever coming back to this store. Mostly because of the way the owner consults business. read more

I will give this place another shot for sure, but my first experience was an utter downer. If pictures say a thousand words... Anyway, even after scraping all that stuff off, I still didn't love the taste of the sauce or dough. Ok, I've been here enough times now where I can make a fairly well rounded review. Long story short: it's awesome and the people are entirely friendly. I have never walked in without hearing a greeting on my way in, and a "thank you" on my way out. In all honesty, I avoided the place for 2 years because I didn't like the look of the pizza at the front of the store that had been sitting out. My friends kept telling me this is the best food in the area though, and I trust them so I tried the meatball sub. I love meatballs. Theirs are homemade, great sauce, great bread. The second time I went back, I had it again because I liked it so much. We've had chicken parm subs, turkey sub (really awesome), salads, and recently, I tried the pizza that was sitting out because I was wicked hungry and had about 2 minutes and honestly, it was still really good and I'd eat it again. I tried it fresh and hot the next day and I'm officially hooked on White Buffalo. I work from home, and I work A LOT and it is so convenient to have a store that delivers anything you need. Tonight, I was just so happy to have dinner and the things I couldn't get to the store for all day that were stressing me out. read more

I did kinda like this place, until I realized how unprofessional and dishonest this restaurant is. Not to mention their food isn't very good. But we have no other options for delivery here. Yesterday we ordered 3 subs and a small French fry. We were told a price of $51.70. The driver came out, I gave a cash tip, looked at the receipt and they charged us $94.20. I called them immediately after but no one answered the phone. It was late so we figured they were closing for the night. I just called them back today, spoke with NATE and he said their to busy to look into an over charge and he would call me back when it was a better time for him?? First I asked for the manager and Nate said their not available, then I asked for either the managers number or a better time to call to speak directly to the manager, to which he did not respond, but instead ignored my question while talking over me. Nate just kept repeating "what's your number, I'll call you back when it is better for me. I asked if he could call me within the next hour and he literally giggled and hung up on me! I have never dealt with such unprofessional, disrespectful customer service! We bought a house recently in the Barnstead area and ordered semi frequently. But this experience has me seriously rethinking my initial opinion of the establishment. I go down there to try to report this to the manager and/or owner. If I cannot make a complaint with the manager/owner and have the situation rectified. I will next go to the BBB and post my experience to every Barnstead, Locke lake, Alton and any surrounding towns Facebook groups to ensure no one else has this issue. I do want to mention, on top of everything else the food from last night was horrible for the first time and my friend found a hair in her sub!! Pizza and cooked/grilled foods from here absolutely suck. If you order for delivery don't expect your food to show up for hours. (and it's not because it's busy) when you receive your food it's going to be cold and hard. I've ordered many pizzas and all have been cold and stale. I've ordered sandwiches such as the steak and cheese, which didn't come with any cheese, the bread was stale, and the steak was as hard as jerky. read more

Stopped here on a trip to the lake. Don't come if you're in a rush as the service is on the slow side but overall the food is pretty good. Wife got the turkey wrap and said it was 4 stars. "Exactly what you'd expect" I got the Steak Bomb wrap and it was fantastic - loaded with shredded steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms and even a little pepperoni I'd give it it 5 stars despite the grease. read more

Read articles and received countless recommendations for this place and their pizza. I was sorely disappointed. We called and placed a pick-up order and was told "it'll be ready in 40 minutes". We get there 45 minutes after call, and waited another 45 minutes to get our pizza. The "restaurant" is in the back of a dusty and dingy old trading post, thought it added character. Cashier took our money while wearing gloves, answered phone while wearing same gloves, and scratched his face while wearing the same gloves. Although gross, it was more sanitary than another dude in the kitchen who was doing same, without any gloves. After receiving a half dozen texts from my wife asking if I'd been kidnapped, murdered, or adulterous, I returned with the pizza nearly 2 hours after ordering. Still hopeful, we opened the boxes to the various pizza and found leathery looking cheese and burnt crusts. The only saving grace to the burnt crust is hoping that the extra seat killed whatever may have transferred from the money, phone, and face to the employees obviously spiked gloves. read more

Truthfully, I wanted to like this place in the worst way. I've ordered something from a different section of the menu each time and everything other than their pizza seems lazy. The pizza is great but their sides are horrible and sandwiches are mediocre at best. Not to mention the delivery service is an absolute joke. The first time I ordered delivery it took them 3 hours, when I like 8 minutes away. Then today, my car was in the shop so I tried ordering delivery and they say "I'm not delivering til later". Don't see how this is considered a trading post. It's just a mediocre convenience store. Food is mediocre as well. Cook was very nice and quick, but was told metrocast was down right as we were about to pay for food and cash was only accepted. What if we didn't have cash? Burger was tasty but small, and not really worth $6. Buffalo chicken salad was tasty but lacked cheese, dressing, toppings etc. hard place to find as well, not linked with google maps and the big signs on the highway are a little overkill for such a small place. read more

Hubby and I went here for the first time a few weeks ago and I must say, we hated everything about the place. None of the tables were wiped clean, and no one was there. They take cash only and the cook runs the register, so let those dirty money hands handle your food. Yuk!! We got the parmesan subs, 1 chicken and 1 so called real veal, after 2 bites they went in the trash, very soggy and the marinara did not taste like marinara. He's never enthused about taking an order for delivery and once you order he will end it by saying I'll get there when I can or just say it's an hour plus order when I work down the street and all I order is a sub! I have ordered from this place a handful of times the food is ok but i get delivery since i dont have a vehicle and the last two times (i gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a second time) and both times it took 2+ hrs to get my food to me.
