Love the small Big Bear sandwich that is rich and creamy and filled with lots of roast beef! Staff is friendly and food is ready on time

I asked the gentleman at the counter if they make a North Shore three-way. He confidently replied, "Sure do!" What arrived was an absolute abomination. The roast beef was salted like deli cold cuts and wasn't rare at all, the barbecue sauce wasn't James River--it was some house-made substitute--and it wasn't even served on a buttered grilled onion roll. Somehow they still called it a North Shore three-way. I'm sorry, but if it doesn't have James River sauce and isn't on a buttered grilled onion roll, it's not a North Shore three-way. That's just a roast beef sandwich having an identity crisis. And for reasons known only to the gods, it cost $19.74. Needless to say, I won't be going back. If you're going to charge twenty bucks for a North Shore three-way, at least make an actual North Shore three-way. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this place! From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. The staff was the nicest people we have ever come across in any place we have ever eaten in. And if that wasn't enough to bring us back the sandwiches were delicious! The roast beef sandwich was hands down the best I've ever had. Jon's roast beef has become a required stop for us anytime we are in the area. We live in Wolfeboro, so it is a bit of a hike. However the sandwiches are so good. My go to us the pastrami sandwich. I'm a bit of a purist, so I just get the meat with some mustard. However, you can get add swiss cheese. The owner Bill is wicked friendly. Definitely give it a try. read more

WOW. We were in the area for a concert and wanted to grab a sandwich beforehand. We searched local places and saw the great reviews and decided to give Jon's a shot. AND ARE WE GLAD WE DID! First, the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Bill helped us and was patient when we asked for recommendations -- he was super helpful and made us feel very welcomed. Based off of his recommendations, we both went with the house special roast beef and deviled eggs. We found a nice spot on the pretty patio that was adorned with lots of beautiful flowers (it was late May when we visited). They brought our food to the table when it was ready, so we didn't have to go in and out as we waited for our made to order sandwiches. This trip was May of 2023 and I have been thinking about those roast beef sandwiches ever since. The best deli roast beef I have ever had. The deviled eggs were just as yummy and the portions were generous and filling! I can't recommend a stop here enough. We are so glad we just happened to find it and can't wait to go back! read more

Been dreaming about these roast beef sandwiches since 2019 and I must say, they're even better than I remembered! The prices increased a bit but what else is new. Make sure you order the House Special which is their most popular sandwich on an onion roll. We ended up ordered the "large" which is 8oz of meat and piled high!! It was absolutely incredible except we were stuffed. Definitely would stick with the regular size and save some money and stomach space! Another successful Yelp find! Jon's Roast Beef and Deli is a gem in Laconia. I had the traditional roast beef with Swiss, horseradish and banana peppers. I got a large and had to have 1/2 of it to go. Great portions, you can get it hot or cold. I went cold this trip. They have deviled eggs, Buckeyes and other baked goods. This is the place to get a sandwich! I had been hankering for a nice, thin sliced, piled high rare roast beef sandwich with horseradish all weekend. We passed by this place in our travels and promptly changed course. So glad we did. There are may sandwich choices but roast beef is a star--you can order on different rolls, different sizes, a variety of cheeses and toppings. (It's like they read my mind!) They have coleslaw and potato and macaroni salad, deviled eggs. We ordered two roast beef sandwiches, warmed, with Swiss cheese and creamy horseradish, coleslaw as a side (sandwiches come with a pickle and small bag chips). Hit all the spots! The roll was a tad crunchy on outside, the roast beef rare and thinly sliced, cheese melted perfectly. We ate outside under the umbrella on a wonderfully sunny day. Been coming here for years. Best sandwiches around. Not super cheap for a large sandwich but the amount of meat they give you and the quality of the ingredients makes it worth the price. The place was packed and ordering and picking up my sandwich was painless. This time instead of the pilgrim I always go for, I went with (for $12 including fees) a small Sasquatch sandwich in a spinach wrap. Yes, small. Since the large is aparently the second largest sandwich in the establishment and I wanted to try it first before ever getting the larger size. It was really good and worth the price. All the meats were fresh and the extras included (chips and pickle) were also great additions. We passed Jon's late getting to the Lake on a Friday night. Mental note!!! Concert on Saturday and we decided to get something to tailgate with. I got the Boardwalk and hubby got the House. In 49 years I've never eaten tomatoes on a sandwich. I've just never been able to...until now. Not that the tomatoes are that good, they may be, I can't really compare. But this sandwich was so good I even ate the 'maters!!! Ate half in the restaurant and took the rest to the concert. Hands DOWN the best subs we've ever had. The food is still good but prices went sky high and portions dramatically decreased also veggies were poor quality for sandwich. Too expensive for me (not paying 11 dollars and something for a small roast beef sandwich on a bum) now not enough meat in sandwiches for the money! I wished you had just raised your prices but kept same quality and amount of meat - very disappointed. Will give you another shot maybe just a bad weekend for you? They offer tasty roast beef (rare) sandwiches (choice of first 3 items included such as creamy horseradish, lettuce, BBQ sauce, cheese, etc.) and 15 other signature sandwiches including the Pilgrim (roasted turkey &trimmings), Regetta (pulled pork), Mt. Washington (baked ham & roasted turkey, American cheese, bacon, & Russian dressing), Fishing Derby (tuna salad, lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, & bacon), Laker (bbq chicken, bacon, & cheese), and several others. The sandwiches come in two sizes: small (bulkie roll)-$4.95 and large (9" sub roll)-$7.25, whole wheat wrap-add $0.25, served with a small bag of plain Wise chips and pickle spear.
