I know it's a motel, so it's not like you're staying at the Waldorf Astoria, but what I can say is that I had an excellent experience here. Service, simplicity, cleanliness can make all the difference. Owner is of South Asian ancestry and a very nice guy who checked me in on my first stay around 9pm. He gave good instruction on everything and was professional and pleasant. This is a great location if you're in town to visit Channel Islands (10-15 min drive to either Ventura or Oxnard Harbor to take your ferry over to the islands) but also this motel is close to the Ventura Pier and downtown Ventura. Can take a nice walk to beach and downtown. What I like about this motel is that the rooms are all on the ground floor and you can park right up to your room, this makes for very easy unloading and loading especially if you got a lot gear, which I did. Rooms are modern and have been renovated and upgraded. There is a small fridge, and bed was comfy. I did wish they had a microwave and coffee pot available. I then checked in again a second time as the campground I tried to stay at was just too loud for me and when I returned the second time, owner recognized me and was happy to see me. He even told me to book directly and can save money. He put me in the same room and it was clean and what I needed. What was exceptional about this place is that the morning I left, I mistakenly dropped the room key and my credit card together in the key drop box. Within 10 minutes of leaving, the owner called me. I didn't recognize the number and didn't pick up, but he kept calling and on the 3rd try, I knew I probably should answer and thank goodness I did, because he told me I left my card. I then went back about 15 min later to pick it up and he was very nice and smiling. I am quite thankful that there are still good people out there looking out for others. I'd definitely stay here again and know you're supporting a small business but also the room was very decent and I like the layout of this motel. They say don't judge a book by the cover. Well, this is so true for this little motel. Pulled up and told my wife and I said, "well, we're only an hour and a half from home" but after signing in the front office, we parked and went in and found a great, clean and very cute motel room. A true beach town motel. Everything looked very clean and you can tell this motel has been renovated recently. The bathroom had a shower but no tub, which we never use anyways, and the restroom functioned well. We loved that they had plenty of outlets. While they had a little fridge they did not have a microwave. My only complaint would be the amount of light that came in so imagine my surprise when I got up in the middle of the night and noticed the shade that completely darkened the room. Oops, THAT WAS MY FAULT. Great after I found the blind. read more

Super cute boutique Motel. Newly remodeled and extremely clean! My husband and I checked in very late after our show in Anaheim and the motel staff were so accommodating and helpful to make sure that we can get into our room late at night. I was pleasantly surprised to find the room clean updated and with great toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised! Booked the room because of the picture looked pretty decent not out dated and bathroom looked nice. The room itself wasn't bad but cleanliness is were they lacked in our room the lamp in the room had dust on it and the room had a not clean smell. The bed was the real issue the sheets were covered in different types of hair some hair from obviously a women's hair and some that resembled pubic or beard hair. And also there was yellow stains and crumb like substances that resembled boogers not sure what they were but we didn't end up sleeping there. The linen used on the bed just wasn't clean and we didn't feel like staying and sleeping in that bed. The owner does not allow refunds I showed him pictures best he said he could do would be switched to a room. He said that room you are in is clean even though I showed him the pictures. read more

Don't be fooled by the exterior of this place! The rooms have recently been renovated and are nicer than some of the hotels in the area. The A/C runs cold, water runs hot, and the beds are super comfy. The motel is about a 25 minute walk from downtown Ventura and a two minute walk from a great restaurant. The owner and housekeeping were nice and attentive. Loved that we could park our car directly in front of our room. Will definitely return when in the area again. read more

The White Caps IS OPEN as of September 2023 and is under new managment. The motel was also recently remodeled and got a major update. We decided to book a room for my in laws there and on booking.com, it came out to $205 with taxes for a Saturday night. That's cheap for this area so we were happy to get this rate. When we got there, the exterior was super cute as you can tell it recently was renovated. The parking set up is super unique, cool, and practical as you park along the rooms. The gentlemen who checked us in was incredibly helpful and polite. My in laws got room 103 and it was so cute! Large room with a queen bed and the design of the room had a beachy feel and was so cute. Bathroom was large and also very well designed. Large smart TV with good channels. Option to screencast from your phone to the TV is also available on the TV which was a huge plus for us. Very nice hotel room considering it is a "motel", in my opinion. Overall very pleased with location, quality of room, and price. We will defenitly be reccomending all our friends and family here when they come to visit us. Super cute spot at such a low price. Pretty disappointing experience. The motel is undergoing a remodel, and at first I was pleased that our room was so fresh and clean and new. But in the morning of our stay (one night only) I was very displeased to discover that we had no hot water. We literally couldn't take showers because the water was stone cold. read more

First the good stuff: the room was clean and quiet, I liked the tile choices in the shower and there was a refrigerator. But: lots of remodeling going on-the roof was covered in plastic and the walls were partially demo'd. I would have appreciated an email letting me know as this was not a good surprise. I stayed about 4-5 nights before I moving into my apartment. I initially was happy until I realized 4 items of clothing were missing of which I brought to start a new job and had to go buy new work attire. Im sad to report it's not worth being somewhere where your items are not safe. I always keep my valuables on me and I'm sure i would have gotten those taken if I had not kept those with me. I had not stayed anywhere else before hand and I asked them to give me clean towels so im assuming during that time is when they had the opportunity to rummage through my stuff. Although I was gone a lot during the day they had a lot of time to go in and out with out me knowing. I asked the owner who lives on property if he had camaras he said they were inaccessible which seemed fishy. When I told him I was missing things he completely denied that it was possible saying his staff if professional to be honest even a sorry well look into it would of been nice but he was so much worried about protecting the image of his motel that he made himself look guilty. The place looks newer but the showers need deep cleaned they are growing mold in the tiles and he rugs in the floor are dirty and stained you don't want to walk on them. Don't stay here if you want to walk out with everything you bring. read more

The room was not as pricey as other hotels/motels and now I know why. Our room was dusty and had hairs throughout the room. The manager told us the rooms walls were soundproof which was a complete lie because you could hear all the street traffic and other motel guests next to you. We asked for a early check in but the manager only let us check in 30 minutes early. However, when we checked in there was no else there, no other guests, it was ghosttown so he could've accommodated an earlier check in. The only positive is they have direct TV. We will not be returning to this motel and do not recommend because of poor customer service and dirty room. read more

Like many others have said, this place is a little gem tucked away in Ventura. I stayed here several times over the course of several weeks while working in the area and I was very pleasantly surprised. White Caps was renovated in Fall of this year (2023) and had just reopened under new ownership/management. The manager is very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The rooms themselves are brand new and VERY nicely appointed. I stayed in one of the king rooms and was very happy with the large, modern TV, couch and work area. The bathroom walk in showers are MUCH nicer than most big brand hotels and I was impressed with the decor. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept on and the rooms are insulated well against noise. While this place is light on the amenities of a larger hotel, the price reflects that. It is located near restaurants and is surprisingly close to the beach and other useful places. I agree with other reviewers - don't judge this place by the outside! The have the "under new management" sign out in front and they are remodeling the far end into a garden patio to be finished in 2025, I was told by the friendly man who checked us in. I had a long talk with him when I was outside taking photos of the place. Just as I was telling him about nightmare motels I've stayed in where a train runs right behind the building and wakes you up at dawn, a train ran right behind the building and he pointed it out to me! He assured me I wouldn't be able to hear it from inside the room, and he was right. We had room 104, which was gorgeous and super clean. I used the two stools under the counter to put my suitcase on next to my side of the bed. It's a great value for the price. My only negs would be the loud air conditioner (which isn't a negative if you turn it off for the night), the water takes a long time to get hot, there's no microwave or fridge, and finally you might knock your shin into the corners of the bed, see my photo. Still, for the price, you are getting a great place to stay for the night - take it! read more

I got a queen deluxe for $200 for one night while most averaged around this price on Thompson, however the White Caps Motel is so much cuter in comparison! Hotel was empty when i pulled up. The service was good when i checked in. I had booked a queen deluxe room on bookings and was highly impressed with the quality of the room for a motel room. Its such a nice room! Very large room and bathroom. The Smart TV was a major plus. I cant stress enough how nice this spot is now. If you are looking for a nice hotel room somewhere along Thompson, this place is a MUST. For the price, nothing will compare. You wont regret checking them out, thats fore sure. read more

It was obvious the accommodations had been 100% redone. Between the fresh paint and new flooring to the incredibly comfortable bed/pillow, the room was top-notch, yet I cannot forgot to mention the fabulous bathroom, and I was delighted and blown away with the BEEKMAN 1802 products. This was certainly a relief for us since we stayed at another motel that was not great. I was so happy and satisfied about staying here for the night. We checked in easily and went to our room. The room is beautifully decorated with a costal look. Very clean and comfortable room. The bathroom was beautiful and love the showers as it was perfect. This was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. No fridge or microwave. Which I think it's great because food does hamper bugs. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat! We made a simple, honest mistake of not entering the correct current night. The website we used defaults to the following night. Even went to the property to explain what happened and, even though they had availability, would not budge to accommodate us to simply change the date to the current night. As a result, we were forced to pay for a night in a room that we never stayed in. Called booking.com was equally unhelpful since they could not reach anyone at motel. Furthermore there is no mention that the hotel is undergoing construction and noise from 7am until you get to office. There is no landscaping either. read more

There are so many things to say about this motel but I'll keep it to just the major issues. First off the Manager stared at my breast the entire time at check-in and made it so uncomfortable that when we had to address an issue, I literally had a button my sweater up to my neck as he came into our hotel room and was literally gawking at my breast and myself. After prepaying my room I got messages stating there was construction from 7am to 4 pm 7 days a week. Had I known that to be the case I would not have booked at this motel considering I have a fractured ankle and I'm having a hard time walking on regular gravel let alone loose cement/gravel. The loose gravel made it very dangerous for me to walk as it was uneven. Our first room the AC did not work nor did the TV work after leaving our room for an estimated almost 6 hours when we returned, we went and grabbed the Manager from the office(whom I had the very uncomfortable situation with) where he then began arguing with us stating that the air-conditioning was cool. My husband stated it's cooler outside. Finally, I asked for a refund which he denied said he could not give me a refund it's against their policy. I finally asked. Can you switch our room which he her hawed around for a bit and eventually switched our room. You were supposed to bring us our new room keys to our room, which she never did so a while after my husband walked up to the office to get our new room keys. At least the AC and the television worked in the second room. The water pressure was not great. We checked out by 730am. read more

I truly adore this Motel. It is the cutest n most comfortable, Clean, refreshing relaxing stay. The photos are True to be Exact. It was like a having your own apt so to speak I just wish there was a small fridge but it wasn't a big deal for me. Management was SUPER DuPER kind n very accommodating. I truly enjoyed the fact that you didn't have to pay for parking and how you can park right in front of your room door Oh n the Bed was Heavenly n so were the pillows... The decor was too cute n I Loved how they put some thought n Love into the place so that customers can feel secure n welcomed n so comfy...The bathroom is freaking amazing I was there for a few days and I didn't want to leave! I needed a break from Stressful LA n this trip was worth it. Just wish the weather was better so I could see the ocean. The owners are extremely rude. They expect to check the room after more than a single day check in. They have no idea what hospitality is. The questions they ask you and make comments about are irrelevant to your stay. They are middle eastern and made it apparent to discriminate against all other races. They keep your deposit for any reason. I hope there is another covid shutdown so they can't recover from it. Never stay here. You will feel so unwelcome like I did. read more

This motel is such a lovely find. I came for a couple days just to get away and it was a great choice. Brand new renovated rooms, comfy bed, lovely shower and remarkably quiet for a motel room. The owner is so accommodating and really concerned about your comfort. You will not find the amenities of a larger hotel here (coffee makers, fridge, microwave, etc), but coffee and food are within walking distance, as is the beach. It's only a few minutes drive to downtown for more dining and shopping options. read more
