Morning surfers
Mike S.

Only 235 steps to the beach! Condo has all new appearance inside that exceeded my expectations for beach property. Some have beach views. Kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker with filters, knife block, and a drawer filled with every kitchen utensil you'll ever need. Shower down stairs after the beach or enjoy the jetted tub upstairs. Small patios and balconies, but you can enjoy your morning coffee outside watching the surfers. There is a big flatscreen TV, DVD player, and free local digital phone service. Once you get all your gear hauled up the stairs from the garage street level, you're set for a great visit. On your way out back to the 101 Freeway, hit the local fruit and produce stands on Victoria Avenue. Or hit the shops and restaurants in Ventura Harbor; most open after 10am. Great shrimp ceviche at Brophy Brothers overlooking the Harbor. Dates of stay - 5/17 thru 5/19/21

Location is amazing!! Amenities are great! We enjoyed our stay here. We enjoyed the spa at night…read more The spa is the size of a small pool. The pool is also heated. Main courtyard is full of activity. They offer beach workout and yoga in the morning on the lawn facing the beach. No breakfast included so we bought a $20 breakfast burrito at Sugar Beats which is an Airstream in the middle of a courtyard by the spa. The coffee in the room was good so I had that. They offer surrey rentals to use on the bike path in front of the resort. They have a small but well equipped fitness center. Couple of issues: ants in the bathroom, completely empty shower gel and sink had drainage issues.

Rooms are not cleaned daily by housekeeping, so don't expect that. The pool is small, but the hot tub is big. We tried to order drinks and food at the pool, but that wasn't available despite having order tags on all the chairs at the pool. They do have a small bar next to the pool, but I didn't venture over there. Towels are at the pool and there is an attendant there who takes your room number when you pick them up. But, they constantly leave and that's a problem as they take your room number when you pick them up! So, I'm hoping I didn't get charged for any towels I returned. On a positive note, the hotel has direct beach access and that was the highlight of our weekend getaway! You can walk directly from the hotel to the sand and you can rent beach at the hotel which is nice. The rest of the hotel, outside of our room was really nice.

We love the resort, we have visited many times. I meant to post this a while ago, but we aren't…read moreable to go this year and suddenly made me realize I never hit post on this! Harbortown Point is truly so special. The kitchen staff are so kind and make amazing home made bread, treats, and execute the hotel menu perfectly. They really do everything they can to make you feel at home! They made me a birthday treat last year which was just the best and really made things feel special! The homemade baked goods are also to die for! The rooms are gorgeous and they really thought of everything when designing them. I've never once thought "oh I wish they had this or that," because they literally included everything you could possibly need. The pool and hot tub are exquisite. The views are wonderful. Birds of all kinds fill the trees in the courtyard area that the hotel encircles. If you are lucky enough to get a harbor view, you will see sea birds, sea lions, and maybe even dolphins. We are missing this place this year, but can't wait to be back next year. It really is such a gem. I've included pictures of the various views from the different rooms we've stayed in and all the interior/ property photos I could find on a quick dig through my camera roll. We really can't wait to be back!

What a lovely property and fantastic location!…read more We were able to exchange through our DVC membership and I was SO EXCITED to see this location had availability during the annual Ventura Harbor Parade of Lights & Fireworks(separate review) weekend. We spotted this location last year when we were walking around the Ventura Harbor area for exercise, but discovered it is an owner-based/timeshare property. Previous Yelp reviews expressing disappointment that they could not change rooms when they could tell not all units were occupied may not understand the logistics and booking procedure for a owner-based resort property. That being said, when I booked through our exchange, I was confirmed with room #306, then found a map of the property online to see what type of view we may have. Not lucky enough to get a Harborside View room, but we were VERY happy with our "balcony in the trees". The reason I'm not committing to 5 stars is the tiny bed and the compact fridge. I think the bed is listed as a Queen, but it felt smaller than that. We could've elected to utilize the Queen pullout sofa, but didn't want to hassle with putting it away each day for the use of the sofa during TV viewing. But we made do with the bed, which was quite comfortable. The fridge was about the size of the mini dishwasher, and had a small freezer compartment, but also had warnings posted to not overfill, which we seemed to manage with our gallon of milk, pint of creamer, dozen eggs and cold cuts. So, yeah, a larger fridge would be nice, but I don't know where they could fit one in the unit, so we'll be sure to alter our cold food plan on a future stay. Hands down, Harbortown Point had THE MOST in-room supplies for a comfortable stay! My pictures show all the cookware, utensils, dishes, bakeware - microwave/convection oven with a user manual! There was also plenty of supplies should we need to clean anything or do dishes. Also a nice basket of coffee and tea to get us started in the AM. We were provided with a checklist upon check-in, asking me to make sure the inventory matched what was in the unit. I didn't know homework was going to be assigned, but the "Monica" in me LOVED IT! That showed me the owners here truly do care about upkeep and efficiency! There was actually more items in the unit than listed, so I cheerfully provided additional notes. LOL! Other features we enjoyed: A automated gas fireplace, with push button start was cozy, the curtains around the "bedroom area" of the studio suite were something I had never seen before and LOVED! The HUUUUGE bathroom with seated vanity table, the large balcony with pub height table and chairs, where we could sit at sunset and see the Channel Islands through the trees, the comfortable furnishing, the detailed instructions and binder for the property and surrounding areas, with suggestions of sites and activities, all the work put into the holiday lights! Just beautiful and welcoming. The property itself is well maintained. Evidence of ongoing work is evident throughout. Ken is a friendly maintenance guy, painting and working on upkeep around the grounds, and another A/C & Heating guy was also there during our stay. We really enjoyed our time at this special property, with plenty of included parking and plenty of interesting sights within walking distance. Harbortown Point gave us a relaxing, quiet stay and we very much look forward to returning many more times. Cheers! "CC"

My friend booked a 1 bedroom/1 bath with full kitchen and a small living area with a pull out sofa…read morebed through VRBO. There was 4 of us that stayed in the condo that sleeps 4. We were on the 2nd floor where we faced the beach and was away from the Main Street. We were above the garages which is probably a nice feature to not have to worry about making too much noise for anyone that would have been on the first floor. The CIS provided everything you would need (aside from your own personal toiletries). We had a small stackable washer and dryer in the unit, there was dish soap, laundry detergent packets and coffee and tea. In the bathroom there was a mounted dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I was one of the lucky ones to sleep in the queen bed. It was comfortable but the pillows were really small and disappeared the minute your head laid on them. I feel like there could have been a few more extra pillows around so that each guest could have had 2 pillows. When you open the windows, we got great air flow. It got a little stuffy at night so I would recommend opening the windows a bit if you are on the second floor. The bathroom was large but lacked ventilation as there is no window in it. There was a fan in the bathroom but it wasn't really working well enough. I loved that we were about 1,000 ft from the beach. The manager, Jen was great and making sure we were doing okay. She gave us Sangria on Saturday afternoon and there is fresh pop corn in the lobby. You can borrow beach equipment from the office. We borrowed a few beach chairs. We were a little disappointed when we saw that our unit was not the one featured on VRBO which highlighted a hot tub on the deck. What we saw on VRBO also showed that were would have more than 1 bathroom but we did not get that exact advertisement. I think they just use a standard ad as "the model" but you don't get exactly what is advertised. We were still happy with the condo and the services that we would stay again.

I reserved a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath apartment that comfortably accommodated three of us, and it could easily host a family of six thanks to its spacious layout and a convenient pullout couch downstairs. The amenities exceeded my expectations--shower pressure was excellent, making quick and refreshing showers easy especially if you're a big group. The condo includes utilities for four people, with plenty of towels provided (Thanks Tina). While there's no air conditioning, the ocean breeze just a block away kept the unit comfortably cool throughout our stay. A nice bonus was having a hot tub in each unit, perfect for relaxing evenings. Parking was also straightforward, with one dedicated spot included. A heads-up for warmer months: if you're sensitive to heat, keep in mind that summer temperatures can get quite hot, and the unit might feel warm without A/C. Additionally, because of the communal setup, it can get quite loud--sounds from neighboring units are audible--so don't forget your earplugs if you value quiet. Off-season, this spot is ideal for friends' getaways or a quick romantic escape. Overall, a charming and practical choice that offers great value and a fantastic location near the ocean.

Someone found this and we were all about it. First off, it's a boat y'all. A fun getaway and on a boat, win win. I've stayed on cruises ships before but this was a first for our own. It's docked in Ventura harbor but not accessible to the open water. Upon checking in, which we had contact with the the hostess, wonderful lady in charge. We asked about an early check in but wasn't for sure if that could work out. Either way, we spent the morning on Main Street for brunch and then received a text offering us a check in a little early. Which was nice. Directions was given via text explaining where to park. She even guided us to the lot that would best be suited and nearby where there boat would be. Parking pass was given as well. Once there, she greeted us and walked us to the boat. It's docked right in the heart of the Ventura harbor where restaurants, shops are accessible right outside our door. Before getting on, of course mask was worn. She asked that only one of us would accompany her on so she can show them around the boat. She guided them through the ins and out of the boat. What to do and not to do and so on. Once we were on, the whole experience was pretty exciting. Upon entering the boat from the side and back. There's a seating area with a picnic table with umbrella. Also two chairs, where the driver of the boat and passenger would sit. Once in, you go down a couple of steps and your right in the living room/dining room. Living area has a built in sofa that could probably sleep a person. There's also a dining table with chairs and flat screen accompanied with dvd. There's also a kitchen a couple of steps down. Full fridge, sink, microwave, stove, utensils, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and so on. There's a powder room across from the kitchen. One side of the boat sleeps 2. Not full bed but bunk style minus the bunk bed. That's at the front of the boat. To the rear is where the main room is. From there, it sleeps 3. The main bed, a full size and an additional twin size to the opposite. It's also where the main restroom with shower is located. As it's right in the harbor, right outside is quite busy. There's a boat and kayak rental that's in-front of the boat. It didn't bother us. It was nice sitting on the deck and people watching. The kayakers going by and just enjoying the marina. The deck was perfect for drinks during sunset and breakfast in the morning. Overall experience was amazing. We had such a great time on the boat. Location was perfect. Plenty of restaurants to enjoy if your not interested in cooking in. Also, there's plenty of public restrooms in the village if needed. As well as the main club where boaters can utilize for showers and sort if not on your boat. Location is amazing. There's a beach literally walking distance across the parking lot. Totally will be a returning customer.

Hospitality is not simply a service offered here--it is the very heart of the culture. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth, welcoming smiles, and a level of kindness that immediately made us feel valued as guests. Every interaction with the staff reflected a sincere commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. It is evident that caring for others is not just part of their job description; it is something they genuinely embrace. We would especially like to recognize and thank Bridgette, who welcomed us upon our arrival. Bridgette went above and beyond to ensure we knew our way to our room, had everything we needed, and felt completely comfortable from the very beginning of our stay. More than that, she made us feel as though we were home for the night rather than simply guests checking into a hotel. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care exemplify what exceptional hospitality should be. Her guest service is truly stellar and deserving of recognition. Beyond the outstanding service, the location is ideal. Hotel San Buena is within walking distance of the heart of the city, providing convenient access to a wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Whether you are looking for casual dining, upscale cuisine, or something in between, the diverse selection of nearby restaurants offers something for every taste and preference. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Rich in historical architecture and character, Hotel San Buena offers a unique experience that blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to another era. The attention to architectural detail, charm, and preservation of the building's history create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and memorable. Perhaps one of the most refreshing aspects of our stay was discovering that the hotel is exactly what it appears to be on its website. In an era where photos can sometimes overpromise, Hotel San Buena exceeds expectations. The beauty, character, cleanliness, and ambiance showcased online are an accurate reflection of the experience guests receive upon arrival. Simply put, it is beautiful. An additional feature we greatly appreciated was the secure, guest-only parking. Knowing that parking was safe, well-maintained, and reserved exclusively for hotel guests provided an added sense of comfort and peace of mind throughout our stay. The team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable stay. Their attentiveness, positive attitudes, and genuine care create an environment that feels welcoming, personal, and authentic. For anyone searching for accommodations in the area, my husband and I wholeheartedly encourage you to make Hotel San Buena your first choice. Whether traveling for business, leisure, or a special occasion, you will find a property where exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, historic charm, and heartfelt hospitality come together seamlessly. In an industry where genuine hospitality can sometimes be difficult to find, Hotel San Buena stands as a shining example of what it means to make guests feel truly welcome. We leave with wonderful memories, deep appreciation for the staff, and every intention of returning in the future.
