Being a Tennessee boy, I've always been on Team Krystal. But, I've wondered how the yankee version of slider burgers compared. So, after giving White Castle a try...I remain firmly on Team Krystal. WC burgers are similar in look but they have a funky "old oniony" taste and the meat leaves an interesting (not exactly good) after taste. I waited in line for over 45 mins for less than sub par food that was cold. It didn't help that when calling ahead of time to see how busy they were, a staff member rudely answered asking what I wanted and that I should expect for them to be busy and hung up in my face. -5 out of no stars. Line is terribly wrong and the staff is incredibly rude. Sign says they get paid $15 an hour which is too much for less than $9/hr type of service. It's mini burgers and fries, not rocket science to take 45 minutes AND be unpleasant on top of it. I couldn't leave Nashville without trying the infamous White Castle! I have seen the movie, heard the hype, and had to try it myself! I personally do not like onions so I left the slider tasting to my fiance who hates onions but loved the slider here .. go figure? I had the chicken ring with cheese slider .. oh man .. DELISH! Just plain DELISH! The customer service was a bit rough but the bathroom was clean and the food was good .. I love the little boxes for packaging and the facility looked clean and well kept .. I actually was craving the damn slider the day after we came home to CA where there are no Whtie Castles except in the frozen section of the market and that's not the same! This was my first ever White Castle experience, and it was absolutely horrible. I was excited to finally try White Castle because there aren't any in the part of the country where I live, so I waited for twenty minutes in the drive thru line against my better judgement. The girl who took my order was extremely rude over the speaker. When I got to the window to pay she just opened the window and put her hand out for payment. When I I asked her how much my order was (she hadn't told me over the speaker) she rolled her eyes. I had ordered my drink with no ice, and when she handed me my drink with ice I asked her for the drink with no ice. She huffed and turned her back to me to fill a new cup, but she poured something into my new cup from another cup and handed it to me. She said she couldn't take the original drink back, so I got to keep that one, which was good because there was no way I was going to drink whatever she had just given me. At one point I saw three workers in the restaurant, and I'm they all disappeared into the back of the restaurant for a couple of minutes before the girl reappeared at the window to hand me my order. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she claimed there wasn't one on duty. She asked what the problem was and I told her that this was my first White Castle experience and that it was not good. Then she said there were only two of them there and that she was cooking and serving. I tried a bit of my burger, reluctantly, as I thought about my drink experience. I went here today for my first time. I tried a cheeseburger and chicken sandwich and onion rings which I liked a lot. They were small but great for a small snack. We went through the drive thru for the food took us about 45 minutes just to get the window to pay and get the food. If I go to another one then hopefully it will be better customer service. I think they was only two people working that location. read more

After years of hearing about this place I finally tried it. I must say I was highly disappointed. The meat is tasteless minus the onions. If I could give it a negative star I would. Primarily base on the bluntly rudeness that the person taking our order and the lady at the drive thru window. It was our first time at a White Castle. We asked for a min to look over the menu. She did give us 1 min, I'll give her that! She said " do you know what you want?" So in a rush we just picked a #12, and #1. When we pulled to the window we asked for extra ketchup and she told us " there's plenty in the bag" we got 4 drinks, 2 coke, 2 Dr. Pepper and asked which one cup was each, the lady responded with an aggressive tone, " can you not see where I pushed down on the top of your lid" I was just shocked Whit Castle would allow such rude customers service in a food establishment that is so wildly popular. Stopped in after a 6hr drive to Nashville. I love White Castle and we don't have them at home so thought I'd stop in grab some food and use the bathroom. The kitchen area was a wreck and the ladies working there seemed rude especially the cashier. It took so long to get my food. One lady went through the drive through and actually came inside to see if her food was done, and she still had to wait. To top it all off the bathrooms say "for customers and staff" but they had key pad locks. I tried to ask the cashier if I could use it, but she wouldn't even acknowledge that I was talking. This was while I was still waiting on my food. Would never go back and just hope the food doesn't make me sick because they were soggy like one from the microwave! read more

These little burgers are always a better idea than they actually are. We ate here late night before heading back to the hotel. The drive through was packed. The burgers are simple. They have meat, cheese, onions, pickles, and bread. I'm not sure how they make them, but they always turn out soggy and not that great. Harold and Kumar, you've got some serious explaining to do! After all I've heard about White Castle over the years, I honestly expected it to blow my mind. Not so much... While driving to my hotel in Nashville I spied a White Castle and nearly took out another car while switching to another lane so that I could get to the restaurant. I pulled up to the drive thru and ordered a #1 with cheese and a coke. I pulled up to the pick-up window and the attendant asked me what I ordered and if that was with cheese. "Uh, yes," I replied. She then told me it would be a minute and I waited a good five minutes for my order while the cars piled up behind me. I'm assuming they mixed up my order because why else would it take so long at a fast food drive thru? Is this a first world problem or what?! Back at my hotel I opened up my White Castle bag of food. The french fries were okay and the burgers, which were individually wrapped, were honestly nothing to write home about. The best thing was the slice of pickle in each small burger. Welcome to disappointment central. After a good 12 hours of flying I was really hungry but White Castle just didn't do it for me. Maybe it's something you love because you grew up eating it? When I saw the White Castle, I immediately began making plans to eat here -- based solely on its place in American lore. And then I ate here twice. in 12 hours. Which means I'm probably going into kidney failure soon. White Castle takes its place among burger legends like in n out, crystal and whataburger. It's a personal goal to check all these boxes. Good thing it was close to our hotel so that I could walk over there drunkenly with a friend at 4am and experience the majesty of White Castle. The food arrived -- hot, tiny little nuggets of burger and crinkle fries covered in what I'm sure was originally plastic but is passing for cheese and bacon. It was a calorie fest. Frankly I'm embarrassed about it -- but not enough to keep me from writing a review. The burger flavor is probably more of a three star. In fact, it's like it's been weirdly infused with the essence of onion. The texture also leaves something to be desired. There's no resistance when you bite into it -- like they just carved it off a loaf. Those loaded fries are like a nacho bomb of awesomeness however. What doesnt taste good covered in faux cheese, bacon and a drizzle of sour cream? There are times when I HAVE to have White Castle. I just do. Sadly, there are no White Castle restaurants in the Houston area. That's just wrong. Very wrong. The situation being as it is, I have to make the best of it and get White Castle's amazing little sliders when I can and that is when I'm traveling in the NE or parts of the mid-west. I'm never disappointed. This White Castle is also part Church's Chicken so if that's what you crave then by all means feast away on Church's. As for me, I'll be craving slides. I've always used the drive-thru here and service has been friendly, quick and correct on orders. Food comes out hot and fresh and oh so good! This location is 24/7 and works well with any travel schedule or otherwise. My favorite of course are the burger sliders. Those thin squarish patties with the grilled onions that burst in your mouth and that soft bread. I'm craving them now. The crinkle fries are crisp and hot and salted perfectly. Chicken rings are white meat and fried just right. The pulled pork sliders were a nice surprise and also very yum. The menu is actually pretty extensive here but I usually act the purist and stick mainly burgers but I do sneak in a few other items, too. As someone else mentioned, this is not your typical fast food. The chicken is battered here therefore it comes out tasting fresh and flavorful. Other foods are cooked fresh to order also. I know you can buy packaged, frozen White Castle sliders at many groceries. While I have, in moments of slide craving induced weakness, broken down and bought them a couple of times it's just not the same. It's passable but, no, not the same. Every time I see a White Castle (I'm from the West Coast, where we have none), my initial reaction is "Mmm, that sounds good" even though every single time I go, it ends in dissapointment. I like the first bite of the first slider, but by the end of the second slider, the taste in my mouth is of pure mediocrity. Sliding scale of diminishing returns, I suppose. It happened again on this trip. It was bound to happen, as one of our co-travellers had never been, and I would never tell a man who's never been to White Castle not to try it at least once. This particular White Castle is attached to a Church's, which I haven't had since I was a kid. All in all, this location isn't bad, and the service here is quite good. The people behind the counter are helpful and friendly. So, I used to frequent and hang out at the World Famous White Castle on Bell BLVD & Northern BLVD in Queens. That place was awesome, bums using the bathroom as a cleaning zone, awesome sliders, chicken rings and shakes. White Castle is just a magical place. This White Castle is no different, it's just fucking awesome. The slop everything on the same griddle, they don't put mustard on(Fuck You Krystal, that's right I know you're game) and they are simply delicious. I love White Castle. It gets five stars just for being open 24/7, which is essential since I always end up going there at like 2 am, whether I'm in town or just passing through. But the food itself is just awesome. They always get my food right (two double cheeseburgers, no pickles) and it's always hot and fresh. The frozen ones you get at the grocery store are okay if you're craving and can't get to one, but nothing beats actually going there and getting the real thing. I've never had White Castle so I decided to hit this one up. There's a sign that says they serve breakfast from 1 a.m. So I waited until after 1 a.m. to go to their drive-thru to order. Not only was the communication horrible because they're still using technology from the Stone Age, the guy told me they don't serve breakfast. I told him several times about the sign, but goddamn that prehistoric voice com that they have --- it was just frustrating. Anyway. I ordered one jalapeño burger and two bacon cheeseburgers. Seriously, you people call this food? It doesn't even taste like a decent burger. In fact, it tastes more like Vietnamese rice crepes with pork filling. I wanted some hot sauce to dip these boys in. It's official I HATE WHITE CASTLE! This was my first time ever going and I was not at all impressed. These greasy, slimy, little sliders lack flavor and are accompanied with a gelatinous layer that builds in-between the bun most likely from the grease.....the texture was more than I could bare.....These things have no flavor and the fries were terrible too! I understand that this store is in a busy location, but almost every order I've gotten at any time of the day, from mid-morning to late at night, has been wrong. Tonight I ordered a large Impossible slider combo with no onions and some honey mustard packets; and we got a small fry and four sliders, all with onion, and no sauce or napkins. Also, every time I've been, it takes a minimum of 15 minutes to make it from the drive thru order station to the window. So, I've been to a Church's Chicken, but never a White Castle. I've never seen the movie with Harold and Kumar. I came in thinking the 2 restaurants would be side-by-side, with separate entrances. I didn't think they would come out from the same kitchen and be serveed in the same seating area. The place is tiny. I think there is enough seating for about 15-20 people inside. I think there is seating outside. It's not fast food -- I did see a worker flouring the chicken to the point where his hands were getting equally battered. As with all the fast food places I visit here, the service seems more focused on the people ordering at the drive-thru. I was the only one in line, already waiting nearly 10 minutes, when an irate woman stepped in front of me to demand a correction to her order. I give the cashier/worker props for appeasing her just to get her out of line. I ordered just in time -- the guy behind me ordered 100 sliders. I didn't try the infamous sliders. At least I don't think I did. I had the special jalapeño chicken burger. My Berkeley upbringing got me enraged at the sheer volume of paper products being used to package each burger separately.
