No signs on the doors or windows advising of the restaurant's closure at a certain time nor the fact one could order through drive through. The Grove has been blessed with a new WC. The old fashioned building was razed and a new castle built in its place. This new WC is a palace compared to the old one. It has a slick ultra modern design and the flow inside and out is much more customer friendly. I could have been overwhelmed with the new decor, but I think the customer service was even kicked up a notch. The staff was polite, friendly and attentive. They even hooked me up with a Free-Quency Card. I buy 5 Combos and get one FREE. What a deal! I don't know about you, but I love it when I get something free that I'd be willing to pay for anyway. My double cheeseburgers were and hot freshly made. The crinkle fries were perfectly salted and crisp. This #2 Combo is my go to and most likely will be the one I choose when I finally get my FREE one. So glad this location is back up and running. I had a long love affair with the old one, but an update was long overdue. As was my updated review. I'm so glad I got to do it for the new, White Castle. After visiting the Missouri Botanical Gardens we grabbed lunch here. I wish we had White Castle in KC, I really miss it. It is an acquired taste but it's a good taste! The restaurant was clean and we received our food quickly. The food was great we had the number 7 which is 10 original sandwiches with 2 fries and 2 drinks perfect for sharing between myself, my husband and a 4 year old. If you have not had White Castle it is something to try! I like how they have games on the back of the boxes it makes mealtimes fun and entertaining instead of being on devices. We had fun doing some of the silly things. I plan on going back one more time before our vacation ends. Who doesn't love White Castle?!?!? read more

I didn't even take pix. I don't ever want to see that garbage again. The reviewer who said "don't look" was right. But further, mine were inedible. I dispise soggy bread. The bottom buns were *stuck* to the meat and if you pulled them off, it still stuck! Gooey bread smeared on top of an inedible square full of holes. Bits of onio flew everywhere. One (1) pickle per. Had a couple fries and dumped the whole mess in the garbage. I hope I've picked the right location as we're traveling. Pretty sure this is the one, and they deserve NO STARS. I came here for the first time in 7 years and as a result of that I ended up ordering every single burger that they had on their menu. I ordered the regular hamburger, hamburger with cheese, jalapeno cheese burger, bacon cheese burger, chicken breast burger, chicken wing burger, and fish burger. We also ordered a sack of onion rings and smothered fries to go. My friends ordered a 10 sack and 5 regular cheeseburgers as well. We brought the burgers back home to eat, and upon opening the bun I realized that the meat is smushed and processed into an inedible looking food item. If you don't open the bun you are fine, so I would suggest you to not look at the actual meat because it will make you not want to eat the burger. The chicken breast burger and the jalapeno cheese burger were my favorite. The onion rings here have a very thick batter, and the smothered fries were dripping in sauce. They were kind of gross and I don't think I will get the fries ever again. Prices are a bit higher than before around $1.50 for each burger, and you need at least 3 or 4 to be full. I would come to White Castle before going to other fast food places though because its' more affordable to try many different types of burgers here. read more

We are here on Monday May 29th. We first went to the White Castle on Broadway and the girl behind the counter didn't even want to take my order so we decided to stop at this one instead and we were not disappointed in the slightest! The staff was friendly and fast and the cashier didn't roll her eyes when I asked for 30 cheese sliders, 6 cheese fries, and 1/2 gallon of HiC. I have always loved White Castles. Those little squares with holes in them cooked with onions are scrumdillyish. They also come with one pickle slice on them. If your lucky, sometimes you accidentally get two. I've also has their fish with cheese and those are very good also. If you're from the south and you think they are going to taste like Krystal's you are so wrong. These "belly bombers" have just the right amount of grease on them to make them tasty. The only thing I think could be improved on are their French fries. I find them a little dry. read more

I have lived in Saint Louis for almost 7 years, and the Midwest my whole life. Last night was the first experience I have ever had with White Castle. It was very late, I was clearly not in the right frame of mind, and my wife has been asking me to go with her for literally years. The opportunity presented itself, okay?! Can you tell I'm feeling self conscious? Bottom line: delicious, unhealthy, and I will be back. We hit up the drive thru. The folks were friendly who took and served our order. We got a number two with a Coke and shared it. We each tried one slider and shared the fries. Typically, this would just be a meal for one, but we were looking for a snack so we sharedzies. I often say that I eat well 90% of the time so that 10% of the time (ball games, movies, and times I go to White Castle) I don't have to care. I had an out-of-town visitor who had never been to White Castle request to come to one. I brought her here on a Sunday around 3pm. This is an OK White Castle, but the breakfast food I got yesterday wasn't quite A-OK... just edible. The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sandwich on Wheat was kind of sad looking and tasted really plain (I could barely make out the cheese and the toast was burnt), and my hashbrowns (though good) were mostly broken bits. The coffee was fine though and came out super hot. Employees were courteous enough, although I had trouble ordering and because the cashier kept interrupting mee to ask questions about details on my order that I'd already specified. I think she was just following a procedure for entering orders into the register. There's a lot of security in place and you have to leave an ID at front if you want to use the restroom. Is there a lot of crime at this White Castle? In any case, I couldn't tell if I felt safe as a result or like I was in a psychiatric ward... [09/15/14]: Got drive-thru last week, and the regular menu was much better than the breakfast items I got in my earlier review. The customer service was also very friendly, and I got my food quickly. Worst service ever. Ordered a number 1 with cheese and diet dr pepper paid for my order and noticed no cheese on the receipt. I asked. I was told "you did not order cheese" I clearly did and the cashier did not put it in. My drink was handed to me soaking wet with soda all over it to which I had to clean myself. So you ask why a White Castle would get 5 Stars? It is because...not very often do you find a fast food restaurant that lives up to everything you were expecting. It has been over 10 years since the last time I ate a White Castle burger and I thought I would take my son to experience a greasy, oniony, yummy burger. We ordered onion rings, chicken rings, moz sticks, and burgers. We loved all of it! The worker was overly nice and polite and the food quality was awesome. Everything was hot and fresh...nothing old and nothing cold! Today, I went to this White Castle with two small orders. Because there was a mix up I had to come to the window and explain it again. Both the original person who took my order and the person helping him had major attitude problems. They were angry at my ORDER. The bad customer service wouldn't have gotten this review. The customer service is usually bad around this time of day there. My issue is that my food took way too many trips out of my line of sight and turned out to be the grittiest burger I have ever tried. I threw the rest away. I can't prove they tampered with my food, but I've never had my food come with tiny hard pieces in it. I won't being going back to that White Castle.
