So I had placed an order online and when completing my order...I was provided the options of either pick up inside the restaurant or at the drive thru. I had selected for pick-up and pay in the drive thru. I had arrived at the drive thru to pick u my order and told the young lady that I was picking up an online order. She had then said that I can wait on line or come in the store. I said that I was going to wait on line and she said to proceed to the next window. When we got to the window she told me the total and I had provided my card. As i had waited for my order, I decided to look at my email confirmation of my order and compared the total. It was 2 different amounts. When we finally got the attention of the employee at the window, and it took awhile cause she was having a conversation about going out that evening. I told the employee that the order that I had paid for was not what I had ordered and requested a refund. She had gotten a manager who said that online orders needed to picked up inside, in which she had followed up by saying that she had said that. Myself and my cousin that was in the car with me both heard her say that to pull up to the next window. So i had parked my car and then went into the restaurant--I was not happy with all this miscommunication. So i was now speaking with the manager and told him that the order that I had paid for was not what I had paid for. Apparently it was the person behind me in the drive thru. I had requested a refund to pay for my order. The manager had said that instead of a refund, he would give us free soft drinks for the difference that i had paid for. We decided to get clam strips instead. They made my order and was out of the store within 5 minutes. The manager was kind enough to correct the mistake but there needs to be some consistency with the online order/drive thru order process. Why offer drive thru pick up online if they will not honor it? Thank you to the manager for correcting the issue. Other than that issue, the cheese sliders tasted delicious and freshly made. The clam strips were nice and crunchy and tasted great with tar tar sauce. Upon arriving at approximately 10:45 PM there was a handwritten sign saying sorry we are closed even though we could see employees in the restaurant end it is open and advertised to 24/7. We arrived and a team lead (possibly) and 1 other employee were talking, didn't acknowledge us, had to wait till a girl came from the back to help us out. After telling her we were there for a mobile order we realized the orders weren't ready. We waited thinking it wouldn't take long, but we were wrong. Team lead should really be helping out if her team is busy doing other task, she only started helping once 2 other mobile orders came in, they also got their food before we got ours. Why does a 44 year old guy subject himself to White Castle sliders after a long hot day watching softball? I have no idea, but I did...and luckily I didn't regret it. I RARELY eat White Castle anymore...mostly because there isn't one near me, but I also don't have the metabolism of a 25 year old anymore either. Having grown up in Piscataway, this particular White Castle collected a LOT of my money back in high school when we would make our midnight runs after/during parties (you know, where we were drinking soda and eating chips) and we were always grateful at how late they were open...back then most places were closed by the time we needed our food fix. This was the go-to place of one of my best friends who passed away six years ago so pulling in here the other day brought back a lot of fond memories. Anyway, as I pulled up to the drive thru to order, my daughter thought I was nuts for wanting to eat here (we had just left McDonald's where SHE got her food - what a snob ;-)) , but I told her it needed to be done! I ordered four Original Sliders and two Fish Sliders and waited for the feasting to begin...and waited...and waited...and waited. How long can it possibly take to put this order together? I mean seriously, the sliders take less than a minute to cook-even if you don't have them on the grill already, and the fish can't take more than that in the oil that's hotter than the sun. 9+ minutes from the time I ordered until I got my food. The woman working the window was very nice so I'm not going to beat anyone in particular up, but they can move things along a little faster. The sliders were...well, they were the same as they always are-greasily delicious. I know they are artery clogging sandwiches from Hell, but I love Castle sliders. The combination of the grilled onions, pickles, meat (?), and steamed buns are just so tasty-I could have eaten more. I'd like to give them four stars, but c'mon, it's White Castle...let's say 3 1/2. It is alway clean and the burgers are fresh and ready with a very little wait time. I'm not a fan of the new French fries but they are alway hot and crunchy. The staff is pleasant, the ambiance is fast food. It doesnt have the ambiance of the Jersey City White castle that I vividly remember of chicken wire fencing around the kitchen area with security guard, but I guess sometimes eating a slider without such excitement is good for the digestion.
