I miss coming here almost every week in high school. I would see my classmates here, studying in the morning or grabbing a coffee before heading to class. This coffeeshop is busy every week day morning. The line is literally almost out the door. Hard to find a seat because people love to sit there for hours doing work. Atmosphere is cute and hipster-like. Coffee is good. They give you drinks without the caps so you're able to add whatever you like to it on the side. Their bagels are also delicious. I always get avocado and cream cheese or lox, cream cheese, and red onion. They use fresh lox instead of the spread which is a plus. I love their chais -- whether they're dirty, hot, or iced. I also love their iced rooibos tea with liquid sugar and lemon. Prices are reasonable and service is good, can be slow at times. Just make sure you pick up the right order. read more

The coffee is pretty good, and the food looked great, although we did not get any this time. We were planning to come back a few more times during our stay in Providence, but as we were waiting for the coffee, one of the male workers with longer hair coughed (semi in his arm..?) while making someone's food, then with gloves off he touched his nostrils and then scratched is scalp with both hands, right next to people's food. Did not wash or sanitize his hands before making another persons food. It was enough for me to not want to ever order any food from here. read more

Love the mission and values this shop embodies as a worker owned co-op. The food is good. They have tasty pastries and providence bagel, with plentiful bagel and sandwich options. That said I have to judge based this place as a cafe on their coffee. Maybe it was the barista, I don't know, but the foam was not done well. It disappeared in a few minutes, indicating there wasn't enough microfoam. The espresso in our latte and macchiato lacked aroma and tasted watered down. An unfortunate disappointment. We did get iced coffee another time and that was okay. I feel like their roasts are too dark. read more

As someone who doesn't drink coffee the chai was delicious! My husband didn't quite enjoy the coffee but he prefers a blonde roast so completely personal preference. The disappointment on this review was the sandwiches we got. The bread was a tad burnt on the top, and in our opinion there was not enough filling to justify the price. Overall great for a quick coffee stop if in the area, but probably won't go out of our way again for it. read more

Great decor, good place to sit & get some work done, nice coffee and pastry selection too. My iced coffee was delicious - no bitterness to the strong coffee, the correct ice to drink ratio. Ran for cover into White Electric with a visiting friend last weekend. It was one of those drizzly-downpour-drizzly days in which the weather couldn't make up her mind. It was our first time there. The place is flat-out adorbs. Just good vibes all around. Felt earthy-crunchy, but in a good way. Lots of wood, warmth and chattering patrons throughout. The coffees were great. I can recommend the Iced Latte w/ almond milk and Iced Latte w/ soy milk (my friend had it, loved it) without hesitation. Bonus points for offering Knead Doughnuts, cute tees, and other swag. The Missing 5th Star: It seems there's only one trash barrel in the place, right near the front counter, a few feet from the food, sorta blocking the hall that leads to the restroom. Strange choice. I would also suggest rethinking some of the seating placement. Our table was blocking some of the people sitting at the table next to us. Not a big deal, but worth noting. OK so I don't know how to say it. it's like one of those places you have to be hip to be in there. They do have popovers but they kind of made them into garlic bread. I got a nice latte, I did joy that. Got a veggie sandwich. Had to use two hands to eat it. I wish they could've added avocado in it. You definitely can split a sandwich for two people. Excellent. We popped in here late on a Sunday morning. There was a steady stream of people but wasn't overly busy. We both ordered Mocha Ice Coffee, and it was excellent... even with no added sugar! I loved that they had oat milk. We also ordered two bagels, one with regular cream cheese and one with vegan cream cheese. I also loved that they had both earth balance and vegan cream cheese. They had several sandwich options, some of which could also be vegan and some salads. Unfortunately, we got there too late to grab a donut - but it just gives us an excuse to go back... right? It did take longer for our coffees to be made so our bagels were on the cooler side before we got to them. But, everything was delicious and we cannot wait to go back! read more

I walked into this cafe with high expectations- one reason was because it was recommended by a dear friend, and another because of a saved articled about the shop needing support to be worker-owned. With that knowledge in mind, I wanted to see what the hype was about. When I arrived, the gorgeous plant greeted me at the window. You can tell the owner is art minded with their own personalized screen prints in every corner. Their tip jar is slapped with local artists I was familiar with. I observed their drink cooler and was impressed to see they have their own 1/2 gallon jug of coffee to go- super cute. I ordered the bagel sandwich for brunch. (Wheat toast with vegan cream cheese and avocado.) They were short on varieties of bagels because it was near lunchtime. The barista offered me more options. The avocado was beautifully laid and perfectly ripe. The sandwich had a generous amount of cream cheese. Came here for the first time last Saturday afternoon, with my girlfriend and the kids. Cozy place with just enough seating. Came in for a snack and a coffee. Tried the caramelo, it was good. The kids had a chocolate chip cookie and a cinnamon raisin bagel. I tried both and they were both good. My girlfriend and i shared a donut, it was huge, and it was very good. This may be one of my new favorite coffee shops in Providence. It is a super hip place, yet anyone would feel welcome stepping in. The latte special is what lured me in, I tried the Nutella latte. Yum! They have a lot of affordable and delicious treats to try! Quite a difference between other shops in the area. A Sunday morning breakfast well spent. As bagel enthusiasts, we set our eyes on sunflower & everything bagels toasted with CC, with almond milk vanilla lattes. The lattes were just the perfect subtle sweet. The bagels were slightly disappointing. The CC was the perfect amount. And the flavors were yummy! But My partner and I both agreed they could be toasted a smidge longer. They could have been even more enjoyable, but an overly chewy bagel isn't our cup of tea. I met a friend for coffee and loved the shop. Coffee was good although I didn't get to order, here's why-- the place was SO BUSY the entire time we were there, I didn't want to waste time standing in line while chatting with my friend. No joke, it was a work day and the line was always at least 10 people deep. We were there for about an hour and non-stop line. It was bonkers. I'm very happy for this business. Here's the kicker and makes me happy to live in our society-- because there are still nice people in the world. Some random man, overheard us talking about the line and me waiting, and he bought me a medium hot coffee. It was so kind!! I offered him money but he said don't worry about it, enjoy time with your friend. Yes even in 2018 there are kind people in the world! So when you go, expect a line, there is limited street parking so drive around a little, bring some quarters and enjoy! If the man who bought me that coffee is out there reading this-- thank you! Providence makes it so hard to choose a favorite coffee shop. Though for me, it's like the mouse with the cookie: if you give me a coffee, I'm probably going to want a bagel too. Luckily, White Electric is absolutely killing it on both fronts. The iced coffee was perfect: strong and not bitter at all. They don't really do traditional bacon egg and cheese, but the seeded bagel with avocado and cream cheese ($4.25) was one of the best creations I've ever had! Maybe I've been living under a rock, but I've never seen this incredible combination before. The avocado was the perfect ripeness (they must go through a ton of it) and sprinkled with plenty of salt and pepper. The combination of mushy ingredients and chewy toasted bagel makes it a bit messy to eat, but you can grab some napkins and get creative! A lot of people have mentioned that this is a hipster type of place, but I actually observed a mix of customers coming in. Since White Electric is right across from Classical High School, a ton of students and teachers were stopping in at lunch time, but the employees worked very efficiently. If anything, the atmosphere here is too good: it was a little bit difficult to find a seat because there were a lot of people camped out with laptops, even on a weekday. Nevertheless, there's a long wooden bench in the back hall if you're desperate. I'll be dreaming of the avocado and cream cheese sandwich. And now that I know this place is only a few stops away from Kennedy Plaza, I'm sure I'll be coming back to make that dream a reality. What can I say about White Electric? It's a fairly usual haunt for me, and my wife comes twice as often. I normally get an everything bagel lox special(lox cream cheese red onion) always delicious. Today I ventured out and got a turkey sandwich. Wife got a latte and chicken salad wrap. Again delicious. And we also got s corn muffin.(because what review from me is complete without corn bread/muffin?) amazing. Food aside the people are just plain terrific. She was really nice and explained to me the flavors and coffee they had. The coffee is wicked good. I wish they had more sugar free flavors, but what I got was still really good. I had been looking for a café to make my new place when I wasn't at work or school when I stumbled upon White Electric. The drip coffee here is decent, though definitely on the acidic side, so if you're not into that, go for the darker roast. The mochas are typically made with cayenne in the Mexican tradition- they're not too sweet or too spicy, and definitely the way to go if you're looking for a treat. The sandwiches here are top-notch, and well worth walking past a Subway. Everything is fresh and well-priced for the portions (sammies and salads run about $7-8, but I usually take home half). In the morning, come for the bagels. They will put just about anything on a bagel for you- nutella, jam, vegan spread, lox, sprouts, hummus (don't combine all that, though... that's gross). True to West Coast roots, I'm a lox, cream cheese, and avocado gal. The only trouble with White Electric is seating- at times, it doesn't seem they've maximized the space for it, considering how many guests they have- and the Wi-Fi, which cuts out constantly and can make it difficult to work. read more

Haven't been here in a few years, nice to know this place really hasn't changed. In some ways that's good. I like familiarity. The place is your total hipster spot. On your walk to down city, you can't miss it. Nice to pick up a cup of coffee and walk into the city with it. They have a wide variety of pastries and bagels. They even source locally for their donuts from Knead. I love seeing locals supporting locals. Makes the world go around and makes me want to support them more. I got two bagels. Everything bagel with avocado spread on it and a sun flower bagel with vegan cream cheese. Extra points for vegan cream cheese :) and it was a good tasting one. Two things I dislike. When it's busier there's not a lot of places to stand that isn't in people's way. I was waiting for my food in a busier time and kept feeing like I was in everyone's way no matter what way I went. I also didn't like the guy behind the counter cutting me off while I was speaking to him on what I want. I understand if I'm saying too much and you need me to repeat it but being snapped at wasn't the best feeling.
