White House Black Market has truly become my go‑to place for work outfits. When the Phoenix store closed, I started visiting this location, and I'm so glad I did. Over time I've gotten to know the employees, and I always feel taken care of the moment I walk in. The team is friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful with styling and clothing choices, and amazing sales. Their rewards program is terrific , and I love that they remember my preferences and make shopping easy and enjoyable. I shop here all the time now: the service, the quality, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. If you are a person of color don't come here. I loved this brand but this is the second time I come here and the lady who works there with the blond hair could not be more unwelcoming. The other lady there with curly hair was a little more pleasant. Asked if she could get a room started for me and was very attentive. The other lady very aggressively asked if they could help me find anything and I said no I was still looking and the other worker had to come and tell her she already has a room. When I tell you the whole experience was very off putting that after trying everything on I did not feel like purchasing anything from this location. I really like this store. I love coming to shop to see what speaks to me. My favorite thing about this place is that the fabrics last FOREVER!!!! One was coughing and telling the other about some family members who were sick. I listened a bit, roamed the entire store, and neither one bothered to ever acknowledge me. Nothing! Horrible! They always close early. Had a situation yesterday where I had placed an online order for a few things for an upcoming trip. Received an email that my order was ready so I tried to collect on Saturday night but of course they closed/locked their doors early-- they were SUPPOSED to close at 7:00 p.m. but were closed at 6:50 p.m. when I called. Cool. Drove over on Sunday knowing that they closed at 5:00 p.m. Arrived at 4:55 p.m. and ran to the door to once again find it locked. I saw the one girl who this review is mostly for in there counting the drawer and she saw me and yelled "we're closed". I'm like "I just have an order to pick up and it's not 5:00 yet, HOW ARE YOU EVEN CLOSED YET"??!! She didn't care. Pretty soon another blonde lady came to the door. They were also mouthing to me how they didn't have any orders while shrugging their shoulders as if to say sorry/too bad. So, I went back to my car and found the confirmation email that said "Your order is ready for pick up whenever you are" to double check that I had the correct location. I did. I went back to the door and put my phone up to the glass to show the blonde lady who still insisted they didn't have any orders available for pick up. Then, the other very rude girl comes over to the door and starts flailing her arms around screaming "WE'RE CLOSED AND WE DON'T HAVE ANY ORDERS ANYWAYS". By this time I'm naturally aggravated. Anyways, I ended up going back and forth with these two for a little bit and the rude, unprofessional girl goes behind the counter and gets the phone. Not sure what that tactic was for. I bet she wasn't calling her manager or boss to let them know that she closed early!! Nahh... probably not. Or that I was simply a customer that arrived at 4:55 to pick up an online order and due to said early closing, couldn't. Gosh, I bet not as well for that tidbit. Anyways, so as I'm driving away looking for the phone number to call corporate, I see the blonde lady come to the door and unlock it and make a motion to get my attention. I rolled down my window and she proceeds to tell me that she in fact found my order and that it was in the back and had been "pulled by someone else". I parked and got out and she had gone in the back to get it so she comes outside and starts trying to explain something about their Ipads being down so they didn't know that they had any orders ready for pickup, etc. I don't work there so I'm obviously not familiar with their protocols. Mostly what I do know from having businesses of my own is that you NEVER EVER EVER yell at a customer!!!! Period!! For ANY REASON WHATSOEVER like Ms. rude did. I have to make a point of reiterating that this review is strictly intended for the rude, unprofessional lady that yelled at the door. This review is NOT for the blonde girl, she was cool, calm, and collected the entire time which I greatly appreciated and you could tell that this ticked Ms. rude off. I was trying MY hardest to not get all wound up but it wasn't easy! In the end, the blonde handled the situation perfectly. After realizing that they had my order, she had me come in and sign a paper to show that I had picked it up which was fine. I have to note that while the blonde was apologizing and seemed to be genuine Ms. rude just sat there with a scowl on her face the entire time once I was let in the store to finally get my order. She actually handed me the pen that I used to sign the paper and her dirty look just added to her being unprofessional!! The blonde should get a raise and a promotion and Ms. rude should be fired! Bottom line, keep in mind that this store continuously closes early and employs one of the rudest people to currently work in retail-- a person who closes early, screams at customers, and when the customer get frustrated she gets rude and unprofessional with THEM! I have gone to WHBM at other locations and had welcoming great experiences, not at this location. I drove out of my way to try this location, a 25 min drive from Cave Creek, to open the door and be rudely dismissed that they were closed at 5:05pm on a Sunday, when the information on google and online stated that location was open until 7pm. This is not some exclusive area that would even slightly explain being so rude to customers. Perhaps management should take a few tips from stores like Nordstrom where they treat customers like family and Build loyalty and boost sales. Why would I spend my money to be treated like that? Who would ever guess my teenage daughter loves the same clothing store I do! We had such a blast today. Made an appt with a sales consultant ahead of time, and got all the attention we needed. This WHBM location is in the upscale AJ's shopping center...across from Pei Wei. This location is smaller, but had the same amount of merchandise as the location in Vegas Miracle Mile Mall. I was greeted by a friendly gal who was working in the fitting room ...another employee came in (back from lunch?) and they started chatting. Who was watching the front of the store? The doors were propped open (nice to A/C the outside when it was a 112 degree day)..and ANYONE could had easily grabbed merchandise walking by. Maybe they don't care at this store... I was one of the first customers this store when they came to the valley. It is nice to have a boutique store outside the mall to go shopping at. This is a large store filled with lots of cute clothes, shoes and accessories. The only issue is the service. The staff came across as snooty and not welcoming. I walked into the store yesterday and felt like I was bothering them more than anything. I do have to say I can give the store credit for having a variety of sizes. Individual sizes are hung in between signs that show you the size option. The store is always super clean and orderly. read more

I have been to WHBM stores all over the country. This location is closest to me in AZ and not only are the sales women lazy and rude, Debra (the manager?? Overweight gal) is HORRIBLE. As usual... Awful customer service--rude and inept staff. I love White House Black market, absolutely hate this location. But when I ordered something online and it was available for pick up in this store I thought... How could they screw that up? So I spent my time driving over there to pick up a shirt that I had purchase online. I presented my confirmation email to them and they said there was not an order there for me. I said OK... Would this confirmation number help? They were quick to respond, NO. There were a couple of bags hanging next to the register and they invited me to look at the names on the bags. None of them belonged to me. I reminded them again of my confirmation showing their address and my order fulfilled and ready for pick up. At this point, one of the clerks called the customer service number and verified that I did, indeed, have an order. So she grabbed what I had ordered off the rack. The manager (I assume) told her to just go ahead and match the price--Acting as if she were doing me a favor. For an item that I already purchased... When they presented me with the total I reminded them that I had used a reward when I purchased the top. A reward that I had received for being a loyal customer. Ha! They insisted that I would have to just pay again. Once again, I asked the clerk to call the customer service number. Nope. We can't figure out the reward issue. I left the store with no shirt (despite a confirmation for the purchase). No apology. No suggestion for a resolution. I will go out of my way to never shop at this store again. read more

I am writing because I am completely appalled by my last visit to WHBM. I had made a purchase online in the beginning of the month. One of the things, of many I purchased, was a dress for my bridal shower. Upon receiving my items, (mostly smalls) and trying them on, I realized I needed an XS. So I went to the store on 67th Ave in Glendale to see if I could exchange my items for a smaller size. Since I purchased it online through PayPal, the store told me I couldn't exchange it for the items they had in stock. So, I bought some of the items, including the dress again (I needed it in a couple of days) and sent the exchange form and the other items back to WHBM to be exchanged and the dress returned. When I pulled the dress out the day of my bridal shower and tried it on, it had a snag down the whole left arm, so I obviously wasn't able to wear it. :( This was on Saturday. Today, Wednesday, I went back to the same store to exchange it for an undamaged dress. The lady who helped me the first time happened to be the one to help me again but I must say she wasn't very helpful at all. She looked at the dress, saw the snag and proceeded to tell me since the tags were not ATTACHED (I had the tags) she couldn't exchange it. Are you kidding me? This is a $150 dress. I would think since I hadn't worn it, only tried on and it was damaged, this would not be a problem. I had the dress less than a week. It's not like I had been wearing it for a month and decided to take it back. She then proceeded to look on the rack stating she's not suppose to and then let me know she only had smalls. The other, nice associate, stated she would look in the back. Unfortunately, they didn't have any in the back and this is where the customer service, what I had anyways, stopped. What kind of customer service is this? Especially for an upscale boutique like WHBM. If it was me, I would have been on the phone calling other stores to find the dress in the XS. There was none of this, no apologies...NOTHING. I was so upset when I left as I LOVE this dress and would love to add it to my closet, that I called the customer service number and spoke to a lady and told her what happened. She stated the only thing she could do as it shows she had one in stock was to order it for me again and she would match the price. So now I have purchased this dress THREE times. She told me to return the dress to the warehouse when I receive the other dress if the store wouldn't take it back. I inquired about whether I really would get refunded for the damaged dress because of what the sales associate told me in the store about the tags being attached. She told me I had 60 days to return a damaged item. WHY did the sales associate tell me I couldn't exchange it? She should have refunded me the money or ordered it for me in the store and had it shipped to me. I couldn't believe the way I was treated and what I have gone through for one dress. Service here is terrible from am associate called Angie.she is incredibly rude . The first time was when the company's website said they close at 8.30pm ivy to find out that they were closed at 7pm which was the time I got there. . Just plain rude and didn't even want to open the door initially to explain to me. .second time was on the phone when i asked get 3 about a return. .you'd think she's working at Gucci or YSL or something with the attitude she has! I had a less than pleasant experience today at this store. To start, no one greeted me as I came. I waited a moment and then one of the clerks looked at me and said, "You want a return?" in a snobby sort of way. I told her no that I wanted an exchange. (I received a super cute top as a gift but need a larger size.) Since it was a gift I don't have a receipt. The tags are still on the blouse. The clerk looked around the store for an exchange but could not find the same one. Then she said that she could offer me an in-store credit. I said, "Great!" Then she scanned the tag and found that the blouse was over 60 days and that they couldn't take it back. Then she asked for my friend's name. She said that their system had no record of it on her account. Then she shoved the blouse back towards me and said that she couldn't help me - again in a snobby manner. IT IS A BRAND NEW SHIRT WITH TAGS ON IT from this store, regardless of the purchase date, there is nothing wrong with it. For Pete's sake!!! I have a fair amount of purchasing power and I'll never go in that store again (not that they'd care). I'm very disappointed with the rigid store policy. read more
