The highs of highs and the lows of lows My partner and I visited this restaurant while in NH for the weekend. We had high expectations. The atmosphere is cozy, cabin style. Tables are spread apart. The acoustics are favorable. The cocktails I tried were maybe the worst I've ever had. I tried one of their house cocktails which was far too Smokey and strong and ordered a Moscow mule which tasted like pure cheap vodka with ice. Disappointing. The food was very tasty for the most part. I can highly recommend the Brussels sprout appetizer and the Duck entree. My partner had the chicken/sausage Oriechette which was glorified Mac and cheese but still tasty. Dessert was small but rich. Our waitstaff was average however never asked why our cocktails remained full or whether we liked our meals. Also, to note, waitstaff were not wearing masks. They were wearing clear glasses with face shields attached however this doesn't protect their aerosolized particles from entering our food. This made me a bit uncomfortable. Will not be coming back for a meal anytime soon. read more

We visit Jackson every summer. My husband loves this place. He thinks the cider donuts are just sweet enough. The donuts are good but bland, but I have a huge sweet tooth. Today we ordered 2 dozen cider donuts and two blueberry muffins. When we got home, we only had one blueberry muffin. The muffin itself was a good size, lots of blueberries, but no blueberry flavor, bland, not very sweet. My brother in law ordered a 2 iced coffees and another bakery item. Skim milk wasn't offered which was disappointing. We spent $50 dollars left a tip and realized the coffee orders were messed up. This isn't the first time they messed up an order but we usually stop on our way home from Jackson. I'm thinking today was our last visit. read more

Wow, this was a recommendation for us while staying at the Mt Attatash Resort...and it's worth it. The bread, reminds me of the St John's momentary bread I'd get at the MN Renaissance Festival. Full of grain, hearty, a crisp crust that just begs for a bit of butter to compliment it. The soup: a butternut squash & apple cider purée with a mulling spice cream and crisped sage. The sweetness of the squash offset with the tart of the cider, a smooth bite from the cream and the sage adds a nice pop to all the flavors. Appetizer: phyllo (noodle) dough wrapped house made crab cake patty and fried lightly in hot oil to crisp it. Drizzled with an apple cider reduction. A beautiful taste and texture experience. The crab was light in flavor, soft and offset with the crunch of the noodles which kept the patty from being oily. The cider reduction adding a tart note...mmmm. This place was great! I started with the Cidertini and it was tasty. A little sweet for me but still good it just makes me drink it faster. Lol. My husband had Lawsons Sip of Sunshine on draft and being from CT he said it tasted like the original SOS much better than what we have in CT. We shared a large Cider Mill salad and the salad dressing was phenomenal. Then I ordered the raised Lamb Bolognese with Pappardelle pasta and arugula and Parmesan. It was really tasty. My husband ordered the Grilled New York strip steak with charred onion steak sauce. This also came with potatoes cheddar gratin and a root vegetable. Beautiful little shop in the back is all we saw. They had a great variety of take home foods (cook at home) and I loved this option. They also had some good coffee and things to take home as souvineers for friends. We got some beers that were amazing that we had with dinner at our Airbnb. This was a great donning experience. We had the tuna special which was great but the side it came with was beets! I gave them a try and even with gourmet cooking beets are still nasty.... It was unfortunate that we didn't get to choose the side dish..... All of the other meals were great! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at White Mountain Cider. We walked in - no reservations needed. We sat in front of the fireplace - what a treat. We had the pork ribs for appetizer, the salad, and the Brussels sprouts, and the baba ganoush. For the entrees we had the duck breast and the shrimp/scallop risotto. The food was delicious. The salad was a highlight - massive portion, fresh, crunchy, perfect mix of sweet and savory. The duck breast was extremely tender, and the risotto was made with medium grain rice and the texture was like a fine congee - so good! For dessert we had the doughnuts and ice cream - massive portion size - for sure can share. The staff were so welcoming and nice. Miles Williams is a clear genius. This food was next level. My wife and I eat at restaurants across NE and this is at the top of the list. I have to admit, my wife made the reservation and recommendation we go there and wont lie was hesitant as I wasnt sure how good the food could be at a what I thought was microbrew type place with bar food. It was 100% fancy and not very expensive either. We got the Poutine and Muscles. Everyone thinks Poutine and heavy, this was not it was a light gravy and was incredible. The muscles, everyone serves muscles now and most are boring. The sauce on these was a brown butter tomato bacon almost bisqueish type sauce they were in and it was out of this world. Short Rib and the Porcini Dusted Chicken with Orecchiette Pasta were main course. Short Rib was Cinnamon and Chili almost glazed and melted in your mouth. The flavor combo was mind boggling. The chicken/mushroom/pasta w/white sauce, once again you just have to try this place. Donuts at the end.....all this goes without saying. This place is a true 5 star restaurant and I dont give 5 stars. Maybe 4.9 because people just never believe a 5 star rating, but its that good. read more

White Mountain Cider Company This place is a short trip from the Mount Washington Hotel and Bretton Woods Ski Area!! First, the food: If you're traveling between Littleton and North Conway in New Hampshire's North Country, the White Mountain Cider Company is a must stop at almost any hour of the day. We had been in for dinner and drinks years ago, but having heard there were new owners, we made a special stop this July, 2022. I started with the Beet salad. Usually these salads are lots of greens with some beets and a glop of cheese, but not this one. As a salad should be, the greens were one third, the cheese and beets almost two thirds, then topped with delicious cashews! This thing is hardy, it could have been a meal on its own. My wife got a bacon, pear, Gorgonzola salad that provided the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Her walnut topper was generous and fresh, not too small, and not just a cup of old nuts! Nearly full from our salads, we decided to order sandwiches too. I got a Cubano on GF bread. It was amazing! Great mustard, healthy portion, good bread, and a lovely presentation. The wife got a Banh Mi pork sandwich that was thick and amazing! The sandwiches were well wrapped to secure contents and well bagged for travel if you hit this spot on the road! As for the location and service: overall, great. I know that in the midst of a continuing pandemic while gas prices are around $5/gallon, it can be difficult to express happiness, especially day in and day out, through thick clouds of tourists short on patience. But speaking as a full time hospitality professional, the ability to fake it is deserving of preferred shifts and better pay, while the inability (or semi-understandable unwillingness) is just not cool. I know times are hard and guest facing positions are soul-crushing, I just hope management and ownership are rewarding the kind, and generous of spirit, among their staff who take salad and sandwich orders in a jovial and compassionate way. The outdoor seating is a tight knit grouping of picnic tables beside the parking lot or a smattering of Adirondack style chairs with a table between them. I don't like smelling cars while I dine. If you're like me, take your food away. If you don't mind eating outdoors beside a busy road, bon appetit! We will absolutely come back for dinner, to dine inside, and explore the entrée offerings and drink menu! read more

My wife and I shared the Moroccan artichoke fritters and absolutely loved them! She had the Tuscan Chicken and I had the ribeye cooked medium rare. It was cooked perfect and my wife's dish was exquisite. For dessert we paired port wine with the panna cotta and the chef's s'mores. Great way to end the night. The staff was amazing and helpful. I went to the Market only. The place was cute and had a lovely selection of fresh and frozen foods, local delights and gift items. I left with some delicious Apple Cinnamon Granola. I also brought home a couple of hand pies: Burger and Pork. Both outstanding. I was pleased to see they carry Beehive Handmade gift items. I am a fan of that brand. Amazing experience! This place is off the beaten path but more than worth the trip! They hand press coffee here! My wife and I split the hanger steak. Yes I know it sounds very bland. This steak however was nothing short of inspiring. The sear was hard and almost crunchy but the middle of the meat was bursting with flavor and so moist it made my mouth water every bite. This steak truly changed the way I will cook steaks at home. It was served with fingerling potatoes and a delicious sauce that was rendered down and too was bursting with flavor. To tide her over my wife ordered a salad with apples, pecans and a in house apple cider vinegarette dressing. I'm usually not a fan on these types of fancy salads but it had an extreme amount of balance. The best way I can describe it was bright and refreshing. We've come here four times, and it is probably the best restaurant in the White Mountains. Really professional service, and the food is quote good (though many of the dishes seem overly sweet - this is common in New England these days, and probably is about the general American proclivity for sugar.) That said, as sweet as they are, the crab cakes are amazing and a must-have. Our last visit wasn't as good as the earlier three, mostly because we were seated near the bar. Normally not a problem, but a very loud and tipsy couple were dropping the f-word repeatedly. If you want a quieter, more romantic meal, ask to be seated in one of the other rooms. read more

They have outdoor seating and the atmosphere was really nice. The menu changes and I dont think the dishes I ordered are still on the menu, but this was the best meal I have ever had. It was mind-blowing. I didnt love the truffle fries, but everything else had my tastebuds screaming. All the dishes I ordered were either seafood or vegetarian and I was still able to order a bunch of different things. The portions are pretty fair, too. Everything we had was delicious. The homemade chips - loaded with sour cream chives and lots of bacon was the start. With the Cider mill salad - excellent. Very fresh. And the entrees were great. I had the porcini dusted chicken and pasta and my husband had the BBQ pork chop with a bbq and blackberry glaze- so tasty. Flavors were really good. Can't say enough about how good the food was.
