This experience was my first in dealing with White Oak Construction. The door to door salesman was polite and kind enough that I agreed to give my phone number for a future call to check on interest in installing new factory direct windows. After receiving several too many phone calls, and I mean they are relentless with the phone calls, I agreed to an appointment for an in-home consultation and free estimate "with no pressure to buy." Upon their initial visit, they asked to come inside, and we sat down to discuss what they could offer. Almost immediately, they decided they would have to come back later "because my wife couldn't be there to talk with us." She hadn't even been a part of any of our conversations, and I don't understand their logic on this one. It felt insulting and ridiculous to me. Two weeks later they again call me out of the blue to set up another appointment because "I had something going on" that prevented them from facilitating the last consultation. When I tried to politely decline another visit, the rep was at first overly persistent, then downright rude at my third refusal. Overall, this was a poor experience, which wasted much of my time, and didn't accomplish anything. I visited their booth at the home and patio show and they offered to come out and give me a quote on my gutters. I accepted their offer because they are a local company and have been around for over 30 years. After 1 hour and a half of discussion with Lee, their "marketing Manager", I was quoted $7,500 for 100 linear feet of gutters, this was not including any possible replacement of fascia. He offered me a 1 time deal of $4,600 if I put money down while he was here and allowed them to put a sign up in my yard for 60 days. I would never serve as a enabler for a company to come into my neighborhood and steal from my neighbors. I hope this serves as a warning for others who are not well educated on costs for home repair. Somebody from this company came to my grandmother's door in an attempt to sell her new windows. She gave the guy her telephone number, and later received a call from White Oak, in order to make an appointment for a consultation. My grandmother mentioned that she would have to wait for a day when her son was available, so that he could help her decide. The woman on the phone replied, "You need your son to make decisions?" After this, my grandmother decided not to use this business to replace her windows. Although the woman on the phone spent the next thirty minutes trying to get her to change her mind. This business operates in a way that gives the impression that they are completely unprofessional and also somewhat sketchy. I wouldn't trust this place. read more

So this company does neighborhood door to door sales. They pressured by young son and first time home owner into getting gutters he does not need. They are hard working have a baby coming and can't afford to follow through. When we tried to cancel 5 days later the owner threatened us with a law suit and was rude, arrogant and nasty. Who wants to do business with this type of person? Apparently they do not care about the people they serve. The want to sue my son for the full price of the contract without even having done any work, ordered any products or anything. Not ethical!!! read more

Similar story. Door to Door guy comes by one night, said we may need gutter shields, said he'd send someone the next night. Guys come next night, spend 2 full hours only telling us about the company while I am still trying to tend to my children during dinner, homework time, and then gives us an astronomical quote. Then he was able to cut it down by $2200 suddenly, and then by another $1000. Really? You can cut it down that much. We politely declined and rushed them out the door after another 45 minutes of them trying to haggle. In the meantime, same parts alone would have costed a max of $250 at home depot and the job was probably only 4 man hours total. But there lowest quote was $2800. Original was $6000. The guy started getting irritated as he realized my stepson wasn't going to cooperate. They came to my house and said they were "Looking out for people in need", and immediately left, after a 10 second exchange. They then went to my elderly neighbor's house and I could clearly hear the words "Replacement windows" as well as "Gutters" several times. They obviously realized I wasn't going to fall for any scam, and saw that my neighbor was fairly old, and tried to sell her junk that she didn't need, which seems pretty likely looking at some of the other reviews. I'm about 80% sure they are either casing houses for burglaries, or trying to find gullible targets for scamming. Do Not under any circumstances, hire this company. The man who came to the door didn't give me his name or a phone number to reach the company at, so they definitely weren't actually trying to help anyone. read more

Had two men come to the door today when my mom and me were home alone. They were very persistent and didn't quite catch the hint that we weren't interested. My mom told them to call another day when her husband was home....they've called 8 times in the last 3 hours, don't leave messages and call from different numbers every time. These guys are shysters. I've been through the sales process twice with White Oak and both times, I received price quotes that were exorbitant. Guttering and a patio door - over $29,000. I said no. The price for the guttering was over $17,000. The door was over $11,000 because they said it was not a standard size and had to be custom made. They were lying. It IS a standard patio door. When I said "no", they kept lowering the price of my monthly payment - not the total price. Crazy stuff. I asked them several times to leave and they did not move. I actually became a little panicky and thought I would have to call the police. When I asked them to leave they just kept pushing me to sign a contact. One of their tactics is to ask a lot of questions in an effort to control the customer. If I ever see anyone from White Oak again, I will call the police. read more

I would NEVER recommend this company. They canvassed our neighborhood and got a number from us for gutters. 2 guys showed up and gave an estimate for $8,980 For gutters. We told them that was way to much, so they cut it in half. We said we would like to get other estimates. One guy was VERY PUSHY! They were told 4 times we wanted to get other estimates before the one got pissy and said this offer of 1/2 off is only good until i walk out the door. He was told that we thought they were trying to preassure us into a sale. Then he started picking up his stuff including the 1/2 off amount paper that he wrote it out on. They were definitely playing the good /bad salesman thing. It was a high pressure sales attempt and the pushy guy was just way too shady. read more

A door to door salesman came to my door 8 months ago. I answered the door with my storm door locked ONLY because he could see that I was home through my window. He was relentless in getting my information for a free estimate for new windows on my house. I mistakenly gave him my cell phone number just so he would go away. I immediately started receiving phone calls from different unknown (317) 363-**** numbers daily. Now it's down to about once or twice a week I receive a phone call from them. The never leave a message. And they never take a hint that someone doesn't want to speak to them. I get its my fault I gave anyone my personal cell phone number, but at the time it was an incredibly awkward and invading situation and I just wanted to be left alone. Very strange shady company. The company comes into your house and won't leave for hours. They do hard sales and start at extremely high prices and go down to where it should be. They try to take advantage of the elderly with hard selling and financing. They tell you they manufacture the windows themselves, but come to find out they buy them factory direct from a company based in Indianapolis. Alside. It is a joke with the promise of advertising in their own personal magazine that does not exist. If they try to sell you something run as fast as you can. They claim to be a Christian based company, but Christians do not go around taking advantage of the elderly. read more

A pushy door to door salesman stopped by my house while I was home alone. I would have turned him away had my dog not ran out. I ended up giving him my number/information and have received numerous calls even though I was clear we did not need their services. The man on the phone was quite rude and even made up that I was interested in new windows. When I went on to say I'd be more interested in a reputable company he went on and on about their A rating with the BBB and record of great service (obviously he's never seen their Yelp reviews). They blamed it on a vendor, ordered metal framework to cover it, a piece came in bent that the vendor hid in a package so they are only installed a portion of it. We had White Oak install Alside replacement windows throughout our house for an incredibly high amount of money, thinking we were purchasing the best. However, since the windows were installed in March of 2017, we have had nothing but problems with them. Firstly, the built the bay window UPSIDE DOWN! Yep, upside down so that the weep holes were at the top and water would come through them into the window where it would be trapped and pool at the bottom until it overflowed the ledge until it leaked inside the house causing damage. Secondly, many of the windows would howl whenever a moderate (20 mph) wind would blow so much that we couldn't get a good night's sleep. After more than a dozen service calls they finally figured out that they didn't caulk around the screw holes...what else did they "forget" to do? Thirdly, the windows themselves allow an incredible amount of air penetration during moderate (20 mph) winds, so much that it blows out a charcoal-grill liter that I hold near the area between the sashes. He only wants to send an "independent" inspector of their choice to come out, which of course I am not interested in. I have filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's office and will be contacting an attorney to get us out of this mess. DO NOT under any circumstances let White Oak into your house for anything. They are incompetent, insulting and dishonest...a dangerous combination. Stay far, far away from White Oak. read more

This company tried to scam my mother out of $75,000 for a roof job on her 2000 sq ft house for 3 ply shingles. She was shocked so, they then went down to $25,000 but said she would have to write them a good review and sign an agreement not to tell people what price she paid for the roof. She told them she was not interested. They have attempted to call her since but I answered and told them to never contact my mother again. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. They came to the door at dinner time and I told them I may want new windows in 5 to 10 years. Now they won't stop calling me. One of their neighborhood canvassers cold called me. I agreed to an appointment. Two salesmen showed up. Both me and my wife had to be there. We spent three hours of folksy chit chat around the kitchen table. We got a price on three storm doors and a security door. Their selling point at the beginning was that if we "partnered with them" and they could use before and after pictures along with putting a small sign. Then they wrote out three prices. $20,000.00 "normal price" $16,000.00 "this month only" $9,900.00 "right here, right now." I told them that they had said on the phone that I could get a written estimate to compare with other sellers. I showed them to the door and said I was willing to consider any offer they could put in writing that gave me three days to make up my mind. We are not holding our breaths. High pressure sales by an unscrupulous company. Avoid these people. read more

This is a long read, but if you are thinking about using White Oak Construction, think again. August 24, 2017 Nick and Jeremy (I believe is his name) came to my house because the previous day a door to door salesman had stopped at my house and wanted to know if I needed any work done, I said I needed a new front door. Nick and his partner came to tell me about White Oak and their work and doors. After a while, I agreed to buy a new front door as mine would not open when it got cold. Nick told me that I would have my door in 4-6 weeks and that they would install on Saturday. A few days later "Jeremy" called and said he needed me to sign some paper work. I inquired as to what paper work and he told me the financing paper work. I had him come a few days later so I could sign. Four to six weeks came and went and in the middle of October I get a call from Mark, the installation manager. Mind you, White Oak has surpassed the timeline Nick had promised me. I told Mark that I hadn't heard from Nick since the day he had sold me a "way over priced" door. He apologized and asked if I was ready to have the door installed. I said yes, I would be ready the coming Saturday and Mark told me that they didn't work on Saturday. I shared with him my frustrations and that it had taken longer than the 4-6 weeks that had been promised and now he's telling me they didn't work on Saturday. I explained that I was upset because what was promised to me had not come to fruition. Mark told me he would check into having the door installed on Saturday and would call me back the next day. I never heard from him. It had been several weeks after that, past Halloween, when Nick, out of the blue contacts me to ask me if they had me "all squared away?" I told him I was no longer interested in the door since he had broken the contract he agreed too. He told the owner.... The next day I get a voicemail, which I still have, from Sam Lupino and he threatened me with litigation! WHAT? Why, are you, as the owner, saying something like that to an angry customer? Who has been "duped" by your salesman? AND he told me the reason it took so long as it took a while to get me financed. WHAT? Are you serious? I can log onto ANY credit website right now and within minutes I would find out if I was approved or declined. WHY did it take White Oak a "while" to get me financed? Sam Lupino was a bully and basically said that because the contract ready that it could take up to 10 weeks for the door, that either I bought it or he would sue me. Finally, right before Thanksgiving, I get my new door put in. The young man, who was fantastic, no fault against him, was trying to get my old door out, which he finally did, and opened the box to my new door and I instantly said, that's not the right door! He called into White Oak and they instructed him to put it in anyway and they would call me to talk about it. It took that young man from 10 in the morning until way past 6:00 at night to put the door in and it still wouldn't open properly. A few weeks later, Richard contacted me. He came out to my house and saw the door that was put in, he agreed that he couldn't imagine that I would have purchased that door; it was not aesthetically pleasing at all. A few days later he had to come back and this time he said that White Oak had agreed to replace the door. He then came back again on December 6 had me take a picture of the door that I was to get and text it to me so that there wasn't any confusion. December 8th, he text me again to say that they had ordered the door and sent me a picture and it was the WRONG door. I told him that was not the correct door and he sent me another text saying he would get it fixed. On FEBRUARY 26 I get a call from Mark and he said the door was ready to be installed. Again I explained I needed them to install it on Saturday. He said he would have to find someone as they don't work on Saturday's and he would call me back the next day. I did not hear back from Mark until March 5. Why did it take him a week to find someone to install this door since technically I have been waiting since August. I told him I was unhappy about this and he put Paul on the phone. I explained to Paul the situation I was in and asked him to find out why the ball was dropped on this. He was supposed to call me back. HE HAS NEVER CALLED ME BACK. The door got installed on March 10, however I feel like I should get some type of price break, well actually I don't feel like I should pay for this door at all. It's over priced and it has taken since August 24, I was threatened with litigation (for what I don't know) and not one of the employees at White Oak construction has followed through. I should be the one threatening them with litigation... My suggestion to you is DO NOT USE WHITE OAK CONSTRUCTION! read more

Our experience with White Oak Construction began with a door-to-door team of two of their employees soliciting possible work in our subdivision. They were friendly and explained what services their company offered. We were in need of gutter replacement and they stated that they did replace gutters. We were later contacted by two other gentleman sales persons who were friendly and personable. They came with samples of their gutters and explained what their company offered. After reviewing what they were offering, and the fact that the gutters crried a lifetime warranty (26 year warranty-if we ever sell our home-tthe next owner) we decided to have White Oak Construction do the job. The work was completed this week by two very professional and personable young men who did an excellent job and completed the work just as I had discussed with their representatives. We are very happy with the work done and would recommend White Oak Construction to others. read more

I would really like to give this zero stars. A door to door salesman seemed to have appeared out of nowhere just as I got home from work. He scared the living daylights out of me! He did not introduce himself, just said that he was from White Oak Construction. He told me that he only wanted "a moment of my time" since it looked like I had just gotten home. (Duh! He was apparently watching me.) He starts going on about future home repairs, blah, blah, blah. I told him that I did not believe that we were interested. He persisted. I then told him that my husband's brothers run a construction company (they do) and that they did any work that we needed. I kept backing towards my house but the guy would not take no for an answer. He asked me how old our house was and I gave no answer. He then told me that he needed some info from me so he could show that he had made his quota. I refused because he seemed so fishy. I finally got away from him and into the house. My husband was inside but he didn't know that this guy was talking to me. He told me that he had just sent the guy packing not even five minutes before I arrived home. (!) It was beyond suspicious to me. My husband said that it seemed like the guy was just trying to case the neighborhood. My advice: don't answer the door if you don't recognize the person on the other side. read more

Our area was canvased by White Oak Reps. After cornering us in the driveway we agreed to an appointment to get a quote on a window replacement. My husband explained that if we did replace it, it would be years down the line. He explained to this rep, and others, that I(his wife) would not be able to attend the appointment. Fast forward to the appointment time(6pm on a Friday). Two reps show up in two different cars, refused to give a business card(red flag, we thought they were fake in that moment). They refused to give a quote because both home owners were not present. After trying to get them out of the house for over an hour, my husband agreed to another appointment time where I might be able to attend. When I called to cancel this appointment the scheduler was extremely rude and tried to argue everything, I eventually just hung up on him. My neighbors experienced similar things. Bait & switch of pricing. One lady said they quoted her $75k for a roof. What a joke! What an awful company. I will NEVER do business with them. read more
