The waitress was friendly but the service (or maybe the software?) was slow. We used the QR code to order, but our beverages took too long. She said the receipt did not show up or print out. We had the a distraction with a World Cup game playing so that made it a little less stressful. A good Chicago dog dragged through the garden. Good service. We got to Midway Airport very very early before our flight, and decided on Chicago dogs at White Sox Bar & Grill. They make them well. All the right ingredients, including zingy juicy sport peppers, neon green relish, and a tart dill pickle spear. Most importantly, a juicy flavorful Vienna all-beef dog and a fresh soft poppyseed roll. They were quite good! Of course we loved the piping hot fries, crispy uncoated potatoes, pillowy soft inside. She kept coming back to tell us they were out of different ingredients, to the point where it felt like half the menu wasn't actually available. I ordered the shrimp bowl, and it showed up with a literal pool of water at the bottom. The shrimp and rice were barely seasoned, so it tasted about as exciting as eating cardboard. We also ordered the chicken bowl, but several ingredients were missing and nobody mentioned it before bringing it out. To make things worse, the broccoli was cold. The cherry on top? The waitress kept calling me "baby," which was... an interesting customer service strategy. Overall, I can't recommend this place. The staff was nice, but the food was rough. Let me just say, the price for the food served in this restaurant is a complete farce. What's described on their breakfast menu that's not pancakes are IMO frozen food heated up and served. For a family of 3 we paid almost $90 for subpar food. We wondered initially why there were so many empty seats; now we know why! This was my family and I first time visiting this establishment. I scanned our order sitting down at 5:42pm and got a drink. The service was very slow and non responsive. The drink was prepaid via the scanner system and automatically closes 40 minutes without activity including an automatic 20% gratuity. I ordered my drink at 5:42pm and got the drink AFTER the 40 min wait period, thus my bill was finalized with the tip. When disputing that after frustration, I got nothing. I think this bar and restaurant has potential but it was clear they are not prepared for airport services; especially if you have a time crunch to catch a flight. After the bartender got off her phone which was 15 minutes after I sat down I was able to get a cocktail and she was very friendly. I can't say the Customer Service is not the priority but when they do see you they are very nice folks. Pour a nice drink and while I didn't eat any of the food... Smelled good and people seem to be enjoying it around me. The grill is actually comfortable not overdone with memorabilia and a ton of TVs for your viewing pleasure. The staff was quick and friendly a plus for starting a long trip. There seemed to only be two waiters, so I knew it would be a bit of a wait. For an airport restaurant, the food was great! My burger was juicy, and the fries were crispy. Both waiters stopped by to make sure we were good, and the booth had outlets (crucial during layovers). My ding here was the amount of time it took alcohol to come from the bar. Sorry I do not recommend. I was stuck in the airport with a 5hr layover. I went here initially and was immediately told that there was no food service. It was 630pm. I didn't understand why that was, but there were signs saying "see the bar for service", but then the bartender would say, "the kitchen is closed." So I moved on and ate somewhere else. I did come back after eating somewhere else just for the bar service. After being here longer than 5mins I noticed the stench of spilled beer that hadn't been cleaned up. I was already at the bar and had ordered my cider beer with fireball. The bartender lady was "on it"... It just smelled bad, and they had no food. I've been flying into MDW Midway for the last 15 years. Whenever I've had a morning flight I try to have a sit down breakfast and have had several morning meals here. Something has changed in the 2 years I've been away and not for the better.... Be prepared to spend $25 for 2 eggs, bacon [or sausage], toast, homefries (which are actually tater tots smooshed up with a fork and plated in the guide of homefries), juice and coffee. We had the 1/4 lb burger thin but cooked perfectly with a pink center with house made chips. It was better than I had expected. We also had the Italian Beef. A far cry from AL's. The beef was cooked separately from the juice. Unsalted and dry. It comes with jus. You need it because everything is so dry. But it has no flavor. They must have just dropped boullion cubes into water and called it jus. The vodka and orange juice didn't taste like it had vodka.
