I've been fixing up a house in Plantersville and have stopped in for breakfast and lunch several times over the last few weeks. DON'T BE TURNED OFF BY THE WAY IT LOOKS. IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME. First, Sweet P and her staff treat me like family. If you want home cooking, this is the place. Breakfast is the best in the county. Chicken fried steak is the best in the county. Onion rings are the best in the world. The steak finger basket will blow your mind. The hash brown potatoes are just perfect. Eggs are cooked to order. Scrambled eggs are neither rubbery or runny, just perfect. The biscuits are special. Pancakes are big and perfect. Sausage patties are tasty. Burgers are wonderful. My wife raved about the BLT, the baked potato and the French fries. (I always get the onion rings.) If you are looking for ambiance, look somewhere else. Finally made it back to try this place out. Went a couple months ago but it was closed for some remodeling. Glad we stopped by again. The food was excellent. If you want biscuits and gravy, this is your stop. One, two, or 3 with pepper or sausage gravy. You decide how hungry you are. The Ranch Hand breakfast comes with/ 3 eggs your way, 2 sausage,2 bacon, choice of potato and bread. Get the biscuit option and it comes with pepper gravy, on a separate plate. Best damn biscuit in the Tri-county area. This is a small place in a little building that will have you feeling like you stepped back in time. The French toast was a huge hit with the GF, btw. Coffee is hot and the service is wonderful. It's all made to order so enjoy the conversation while you wait. It doesn't look like much from the outside and as we were leaving, two cars pulled in and then backed out after only parking long enough for the drivers to look at each other. This is some of the best food you will ever eat in the south. The chicken fried steak was outstanding - crunchy crust over tender and flavorful beef, served with mashed potatoes and cream gravy. The potatoes are worth an hour's drive by themselves. It's a fabulous hand smashed mix of smooth creamy potatoes and "rocks," what we call those delicious bites of solid potato that add a wonderful texture. The gravy is so creamy and has the perfect amount of black pepper. The burgers are handmade and a half a pound. Don't miss the onion rings - 13/10 - sweet onions and crispy breading cooked to perfection. Don't come here for the ambience, come for the food. Stopped here on the way home from the Texas Renaissance festival. This tiny place is easy to miss. It's smaller than small. It only has 7 tables inside. (4 tops). I think this place will be our new tradition on the way home. The chicken fried steak was so tender I could have used a butter knife. The chicken fried chicken was moist inside and crispy out. That's important to note because it's so easy to slightly over cook the chicken and dry it out. They serve the gravy on the side, so you can decide how much to use, and your food stays crispy through the whole meal. I'll definitely be back. read more

This place did not disappoint! Fried shrimp and catfish basket with coleslaw and potatoes salad for Mom, hubby had chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, and I had chicken fried steak with green beans and potato salad.
