Red Board is BACK!!!…read more When it originally opened, Red Board was our favorite local restaurant. Then Chef Craig headed to greener pastures and the food quality suffered. And after two date night dinners with crappy food, we quit going there. I am SO very happy to say, RED BOARD IS BACK! It was Lee's turn to choose the location for tonight's date night dinner, and I was a bit dismayed when he said we had reservations at Red Board. He assured me that there is a new chef, so I was grudgingly willing to give it a try. I had the red snapper with mango salsa, garlic mashed potatoes and jalapeño creamed corn. The mango salsa had a bit of a kick. The jalapeño creamed corn was luscious and had an even stronger kick! What's not to love? Lee had the chicken fried steak, jalapeño creamed corn and onion rings. He liked the steak, and commented that he was happy the corn wasn't swimming in cream. I stole some of his onion rings, and they are dynamite. Super crispy and oniony. I'm so happy we went there tonight. We will be back frequently if Chef Chris' food stays as good as it was tonight. Service there has always been great; that was never an issue. Kylie's service tonight was impeccable. And the food was every bit as yummy as anyone could hope. Thank you Chef Chris. You are AWESOME! And don't you even THINK about leaving Navasota!
