    Onion Rings
    Bryan S.

We had lunch here the other day, and it was really quite tasty! At the suggestion of our server, we tried their onion ring as an appetizer (photo below), and they were really extraordinary. We both had chicken fried steak. It was so tender that you could cut it with a fork, but still had a great beef flavor. Very good!

Good ambiance good food service was good we liked the wood work and tree tables it has a cool western atmosphere and the brisket potato and lunch special chicken and burger were all good

Live the Relay Station often eat her for a steak on the way home from TRF. Always enjoy the ribeye with a cold shiner boch. I am a knight fighter at TRF and some join me for dinner there as well and we enjoy the casual atmosphere and service. One of us may eat the 85 ounce steak dinner soon.

Small CFS, fried okra, and purple hull peas

Quick stop for a Friday lunch on a day off! About 5 tables were being served. The ice tea tasted fresh and cold. The wait staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. One of our waitresses was being trained. She did a great job and was extra kind. Napkins, ranch, and tea refills without waiting around. Good food! We ordered the small chicken fried steak with 2 sides - purple hull peas and fried okra for the win. Chicken strips with fries for the kiddo! Gravy and ranch as requested for dipping. We will be back and look forward to trying more items! I also want to sit at the bar to try out the unique bar stools!

    Cute rustic decor.

Escargot Stuffed Mushrooms- a bit tiny, but packed with buttery goodness. Entrees: A5 Wagyu Flat Iron- this was a special and it wasn't tender enough to cut with just a fork like I've experienced, but still pretty tender and very juicy. Seasoned perfect to eat by itself, but it came with 4 different restaurant-made steak sauces. Mesquite Smoked Short Ribs- very tender and can be torn to shreds with a fork. Comes with mash potatoes and gravy and some crispy noodles for texture. Very flavorful. Sides: Maple Bacon Pecan Brussel Sprouts- very delicious and flavorful. Smoked Mashed Potatoes- very thick and smokey, but delicious. Definitely need some water lol. Poblano Creamed Corn- my wife liked this, but I didn't care for that creamy corn texture lol. Dessert: Marie Antoinette Cake- chocolate mousse cake that was perfectly rich with some kind of raspberry or berry drizzle. Also came with these super delicious alcoholic infused strawberries that paired super well. Overall, it was a pricey dinner, but not as pricey as I thought. Definitely had a great time and worth the price and experience. The restaurant ambience was dim and cabin-like setting with lots of beautiful decor. Our waiter, Gabriel was super friendly and helpful. He recommended a lot of our dishes tonight. Lots of parking and they also offer complimentary valet services.

The $64 Heartbrand Texas Akaushi NY Strip came out medium-rare mush, not a strip, clearly sous vide and barely finished: no crust, waxy unrendered fat, and that sour vacuum-bag tang wet-aged beef gets when it never sees real heat. Heartbrand Akaushi is the marquee of this menu, and it didn't resemble a strip & ate like deli roast beef. Sous vide is boiling in a bag-- a strip lives on its sear, and this one never got one. Great staff, special night, disappointing steak.

We finally sat at another table, and the second waitress gave us a menu. We then observed whay appeared to be a local family requesting the same booth. They were immediately helped and were sat down. We finally had the third waitress take our order. The third waitress never came back to our table. We told the second waitress that we needed to pay, but didn't have a ticket. She along with the third waitress wrote our order on there pads, but neither one gave me out meal ticket. I then went to pay and I told the first waitress what we ate and I paid with a credit card and got a receipt. I walked out with my grandson in my arms and my wife walked along side of me with her cane. The second waitress, Hispanic and heavy set ran outside and accused me in front of my grandson and wife, that I failed to pay my meal ticket. I was appalled and humiliated. We went back inside and I asked the third waitress who I paid, if I had paid my bill. She replied, "Yes sir." I turned around and walked out because I was disgusted with the second waitress who had accused me on "skipping out on my bill." In all of my years I've never had anyone as rude and obnoxious as this waitress. We drove from Houston because it appeared to a nice country restaurant . Well, safe your money and go some place else where they respect the elders, especially when are accused of running out to avoid paying a bill while carrying a baby and an another elder with a cane.

Our server Aspen did a great job ensuring we were taken care of, without hovering. Despite being on the edge of summer, we enjoyed a nice meal outside, but the inside dining area is also nice, without being too clubby. If a steakhouse is your vibe, De Baca is worth a visit.

We…read morerandomly scrolled on YouTube and watched someone rated this THE BEST in Texas so we had to check it out. What makes this place unique is that they use charcoal, have make their own rub, you can order as many ounces up to 32oz I believe, and they only sell ribeye steaks. The place is called the general store because that's what it used to be when first started doing business in the 1980s but later expanded and converted into a steakhouse. We got there at 4pm and there was a little bit of a line already. The restaurant is only open three days a week each day from 5:30 to 9. On Thursday they have fried catfish and Friday and Saturday they sell only steak. The minimum order starts at 10oz and each ounce increment is a little bit extra charge. We ordered the 24 ounce to be shared between the two of us total is about $70 and we still have some leftover. The charcoal flavor was not overpowering, but the seasoning of the steak was perfectly balanced. Usually, I eat my steak with extra pepper or chimichurri, but this one I was able to eat without any extra seasoning. The surface of the steak look heavily seared but the medium interior was really juicy and succulent. I could taste more char on the edge pieces. After the steak we headed to their second shop next door for some malt shake. I got the cookies n creame flavor, it was milky and not overly sweet like any other milkshakes. And the malt flavor lingers on the tongue after each sip. I was debating to get another one but chocolate flavor but I was too full. Service there overall was very welcoming, and dining area is really big, the interior feels like an old western cabin but very clean and spacious. Great for family gatherings too. They also have a BYOB offer for people who love some good sips along with the smokey steak.
