Food is delicious. We ordered ribeye, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. My son loved their mac and cheese. The Ribeye had good flavor, and it was big enough for my 10year old and me. We had lunch here the other day, and it was really quite tasty! At the suggestion of our server, we tried their onion ring as an appetizer (photo below), and they were really extraordinary. We both had chicken fried steak. It was so tender that you could cut it with a fork, but still had a great beef flavor. Very good! read more

First time going there. What a great surprise!! Ordered the homemade onion rings, excellent!! Top 5 that I have ever had! Got the chicken fried steak sandwich (that is very hard to find that's done correctly), it was HUGE! Done perfectly!!! Fries and fried okra also good! Wife got the hamburger steak (lunch special), not a small lunch portion! I would have to look really hard to find a negative! Also, they have all fresh ingredients. I know that food prices have gone up but I'd rather pay more for going out to eat than being nickel and dimed to death. I'm not a big fan of their roles but others are and I understand that they're charging per roll if you order more. Quite frankly the steaks here are okay, but for the prices that are being charged, the quality of the meat is just not there. The last three times I've been in I kept hoping for a better experience and unfortunately it just never happened. The steaks are usually overcooked and it saddens me because this is a restaurant which is very close to me geographically and I would love for it to increase in quality! read more

If you blink you will miss it. I promise it is not a place you want to drive by, STOP! The catfish is perfectly fried in cornmeal and the sides are fresh and delicious. Quick stop for a Friday lunch on a day off! About 5 tables were being served. The ice tea tasted fresh and cold. The wait staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. One of our waitresses was being trained. She did a great job and was extra kind. Napkins, ranch, and tea refills without waiting around. Good food! Had an early dinner. Food was delicious! Had chicken fried steak with cream gravy, and okra. Both were crispy and outstanding! Also had Mac and cheese. Not sure if fresh, but still good. The waitress was phenomenal! Very accommodating and quick with refills. She paid very close attention but never felt like she was interrupting. Would definitely go back! Dining room was small, but clean and welcoming, like an old log cabin. Only 2 other parties came in while we were there. Only concern would be if someone in your party had gluten allergies. Had a wonderful experience here and had the freshest Bacon Cheeseburger I've had since I moved to Texas two years ago. Right off the main highway the Relay Station is the perfect place to stop by in this part of town. They have the largest steak in Texas as well. Oh my goodness, when did this place go to heck in a handbasket? All around, table of 8, and not one person serving and only one cook on a Sunday after church time. My daughter and I shared a chopped steak which was at best, void of any seasoning and I got my own mashers with canned gravy and one other unmemorable side, hubs had catfish and coleslaw and only so, so. My sister and brother in law and their grandchildren were all really surprized at how much this once really great place has changed. My grandson ate his food because its the only thing you can't get wrong on a child's plate, a burger with no.bun. Dry meat patty drowning in Ketchup with fries.. I know they had a fire about a year ago, but they should be back up like the old Relay Station was. We waited and waited for what seemed like forever to get our food. Love this country side home cooking restaurant. Some of the freshest home cooked food around. From the fried mushroom that are the freshest, juiciest to the burgers...oversized hand pressed, homemade buns ( for Boone burger ) to the grilled catfish with baked potato, fried okra and another one had club sandwich with French fries. Ordered a $30 steak and was only able to eat a few bites. The quality of meat was terrible and full of gristle. My kids ordered burgers and they were unimpressive. The owner is the grill man and when it comes to down home cooking of moth watering no nonsense steaks this place beats all the hundreds of other steak places I visit while traveling coast to coast for my work . My husband and I were a little skeptical as we pulled up because it was prime supper time (7-7:30pm) and there was only 1 car in the lot. But we gave them a chance and I'm glad we did! We started with the chicken fried bacon and some sweet teas. The tea was fresh brewed and sweetened with real sugar. The chicken fried bacon was hand breaded and fried to a golden brown but not over fried. It was served with a "spicy ranch" which I think equated to homemade ranch with Tabasco but it paired well with the bacon. I got a small chicken fried steak with cream gravy, loaded baked potato, and a salad. The salad was a help yourself salad bar. The lettuce and vegetable offerings were fresh and the ranch as stated previously was homemade. There were about 4 other options for dressing if ranch is not your style. The small chicken fried steak took up half the plate and was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and the crust was golden and crunchy. The baked potato was a nice size and was loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream, and fresh bacon bits. My husband had the ribeye, medium rare, macaroni and cheese and a salad. The cut of the steak(Ribeye) wasn't great but it was cooked as asked and flavored well. The Mac and cheese was not homemade but tasted great, similar to KFC mac n cheese. The service was great. The waitress seemed unimpressed to be there, but was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. She may have been overwhelmed and tired as it seems they are looking for some full time help.
