Not only was there a lovely gondola ride up to the restaurant, they offer a shuttle from the lift! This was great for those who have limited walking ability. The view was amazing! It was a beautiful day, so you could enjoys the mountains quite well. Our group could not say enough about the food! Everyone in our group of six enjoyed their food! This restaurant probably takes the cake for "most expensive restaurant to get to", but if you're already planning on taking the Lake Louise ski Gondola the view alone here is worth the visit. Once at the top of the gondola you do have to take a short downhill walk to get to the restaurant. The walk down is easy and the walk back up is easy to moderate depending on how much you had to eat and drink here. Pro tip - elevation and power walking uphill after a cocktail don't necessarily go together. We visited in July on what was a rather chilly and slightly misty day, which unfortunately led to the deck being closed for seating. We came in fairly early on a weekday, didn't have reservations but we were still able to get a seat at one of the high tops a short distance back from the windows. To drink I ordered the Lift cocktail, their sort of twist on an espresso martini, it tasted a little more chocolate martini than espresso, but it was pretty and delicious none the less. To eat I had the pan roasted Arctic char. It was served with some veggies and over a bed of beet gnocchi. The char was quite delicious as it was seasoned wonderfully and had nice crispy edges, it was cooked a little longer than I would've preferred, but still so tasty. Unfortunately the beet gnocchi was sort of bland and didn't have much flavor to it. My mom ordered the garlic prawns & mushrooms and a salad. The salad was quite unique in the way that it was served, she enjoyed it and I liked the few bites I had. The garlic mushrooms and prawns were really good! Both were super rich and buttery, would definitely recommend ordering this for the table. I am a big fan of this bistro. Whenever we go to Lake Louise, we always go here. It's on top of a mountain in Lake Louise Ski Resort. You have to take gandola to go upto the mountain. It's an open gandola and you feel the fresh breeze of fresh air. Once we spotted couple of brown bears underneath. It's always so exciting. Once you reach on the top, you get unbelievable panoramic mountain view from this bistro. They have indoor seating and also a big patio. From patio you can see the Lake Louise. The view is just so heavenly. You have to go there to understand and feel this blissful experience. The food is as exceptionally good as the views. Once we tried the Cheese Fondue inside on a chilly day, which was nicely paired with a Chardonnay. Once on a beautiful summer day, we had chicken lettuce tacos and passion fruit crepes. They have good selection of drinks. While writing this review, I am already feeling so happy and good thinking about when I will go here again. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone. You can find this iconic and instagrammable restaurant on the top of the ski hill in Lake Louise. You either take the chair or the gondola up to the top and its about a 10 minute walk from the top over the side where the restaurant is located. They serve local and artisanal food and drinks. They have an amazing patio perfect for the summer months. We shared mussels, fondue, charcuterie board, Caesar salad with Tuscan chicken and heaps of drinks! Such a great menu and cool restaurant. A must visit if you're in Lake Louise or Banff! read more

This is probably one of the more expensive places for a meal in the greater area. We did the gondola and dine coupon so we did save $10 on our meal with that option. This said the portions were a little small and the flavor was just OK. Dining from the outside was closed due to "colder weather conditions ". The view from the top is beautiful and you don't have to dying to be able to enjoy this view. If we were to do it again we might have chosen to eat at the bottom of the mountain instead. read more

We had halibut with quinoa, signature hamburger, and goat cheese cake and all all them were delicious. Halibut was pan fried to perfection-slight crunch but still juicy. Hamburger was also juicy and thick. Fries that came with it was good too. Thought the portion was small but it was actually filling at the end. Cheese cake had a thin layer of sugar on top that gives a nice touch. It's interesting taste and not heavily sweetened like other cakes I had before. The Whitehorn Bistro is a hidden gem that is halfway up the front face of the Lake Louise ski hill. With amazing views, this sit-down restaurant was completely redone in the last 2 years, and the menu put together by a former chef of the Wynn Casino/Resort in Las Vegas. I have eaten there a few times, having had the seafood risotto the last time. It came with a good portion of fresh scallops, shrimp, lobster, clams and mussels. Delicious! The time before, I'd had the pan-seared salmon. Seared with skin on, I was really surprised at how soft and flavourful the salmon was under what visually appeared to be a drier upper layer (it wasn't). I look forward to eating at the Whitehorn Bistro any chance I get. Given it's so new, it relatively easy to get seats, though I suggest you get there at least shortly before noon on the weekends. read more

Great place to dine for an upscale ski lunch at phenomenal Lake Louise. Food was elegant, satisfying and delicious. We chose this spot so we would have a chance to connect with our teenagers and friends. We were a party of 8. The college age boys especially enjoyed the many meat options-lamb, bison, steak. Creative cocktails and good selection of wine and local beers. We also were able to drink order and dine in about an hour. I would visit again. We came here for a late lunch and this place was amazing! Delicious great presentation and an amazing view to boot. This place is set on top of Lake Louise so you have to take the gondola to get to this great bistro set on top of the world overlooking Lake Louise and surrounded by mountains and evergreens. The patio is huge and very inviting, inside is cozy and a nice casual feel to it. We started off with their Heirloom Tomato & Basil Salad with Buffalo Mozzarella, Quinoa, Sundried Tomato Pesto, Balsamic Reduction. Lettuce Wrap with Chicken in Coconut Peanut Sauce & Asian Slaw. Pork Belly & Scallops 48 hour cured, with Celery Root Puree, Confit Tomatoes, Fennel Corn Bilini & White Asparagus Espuma. All three of these dishes were excellent! Flavorful and colorful, the Quinoa had an amzing earthy flavor and the heirloom tomatoes were firm with a slight tartness that the mozzarella complimented it. I loved all the dishes served here, the only thing negative was that the portion was not filling. I was still hungry when i took the gondola down. We don't usually stop for lunch on a gorgeous bluebird ski day, but I'd heard that Whitehorn Bistro was a special experience, so I dragged my reluctant boyfriend there for lunch. When he saw the burger and fries go by, and found out that they had iPhone chargers available (his phone battery had gone dead quickly in the extreme cold), he turned into a very happy camper! The food was delicious, and the view from the patio (and from our table, as we were lucky to arrive early, with a reservation, and were seated at a table by the large windows) was spectacular! Best of all, the bf's phone was completely charged by the time we finished lunch, and service was speedy - - not much longer (if at all) than your typical on-mountain average cafeteria lunch. This restaurant was spectacular and the views are out of this world, we were lucky enough to get a seat right by the window with the spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains and even Chateau Lake Louise, snow and bright sunshine and blue skies literally as far as the eye could see, and no civilization except skilifts and a handful of people. Not too many people though ( we stood in lift lines only 4 times over the course of the week) because the temperature was unbelievably cold, it was 33 below zero and that was without the windchill. Obviously there is a ton of Wind chill from both the wind plus you speeding down this massive mountain at over 50 km an hour... We actually know that for a fact because we have an app on our phone that tells us our speed. Anyway, the restaurant was amazing, the Australian waitresses were all fabulous and knowledgeable and spectacularly beautiful. The food was incredible and even though it was pretty expensive, for example $24 per burger, but it actually wasn't that much more expensive than the food troughs that feed the masses at all the others cafeterias and chalets ( where they charge $20 per burger). And those places are all fast food and you are freezing cold with no insulation in the thin walls and lots of drafts thanks to hundreds of doors banging open constantly and surrounded cheek to jowel with 1 million riff raff loud sneezing and swearing people. However this restaurant has beautiful nicely spaced tables and linen tablecloth's and napkins, great wine list, and even a few times a year they have torch ski where they feed people while the sun is going down and then you ski home via staff holding massive torches so you can see your way. They were setting up for that when we were there as it was New Year's Eve, however it was too late notice for us to join in because my husband didn't feel like drinking and driving all the way back to Calgary. We r definitely going to try it in a month - next time we r there. I am only taking one star off because for some reason the basement at this place is really ugly, it's got a bunch of scarred and filthy picnic table set up down there, I guess it's a place where you could bring your own bag lunch and sit down there and eat it for free, but there's no view because it's in the basement and it's dark and smelly. I only mention this because I've had a large painful cut on my hand and when I asked the staff where the first aid kit was I had to ask four different people because nobody seem to know and then I finally found a bartender who knew where it was- He dismissively sent me down to the basement to find it myself. Which is hard to do in those massive ski boots and the stairs were very steep. When I found it it was hanging on the wall with the spring latch and once you open it of course gravity takes all the contents down to the floor. Not a lot of fun when you just spent $150 on lunch for 2 adults and 2 teens....... PS If you are looking for a restaurant locally; Whatever you do, NEVER go to the Calgary restaurant The Guild. I came here for lunch with my dad one ski day. We were seated after just 10 minutes despite the fact that it was very busy. During our wait we went out onto the porch, which has a beautiful view of the mountains on clear days. There was also a bar made out of ice there, complete with two ice luges for taking shots. My dad and I both got the soup of the day which was lentil curry and thought it was very good. We also shared the arugula beet salad which tasted fresh and yummy. I tried my dad's mocha and it was not the best I've had but it was fine. If you are willing to spend a bit more for a sit down lunch the whitehorn bistro is a great way to refuel for the rest of the ski day! read more

Wife had the seafood risotto which she liked. I ordered the whitehorn burger. The ingredients and the bun were tasty, but my only complaint is that they did not give me the option to have the burger cooked medium. When I asked the waitress, she said they cook it well because it is ground meat. I never order a burger well for a reason, it never does the flavor justice. The meat was too dry, and I have never been told at any restaurant that they only cook burgers well. The fries were very good, as well as the service. read more

What a crock. First, you have to walk almost a kilometer up and down a path from the gondola stop to get there. While the view was gorgeous, $24 for a burger and fries was outrageous, especially when the service was slow to non-existent. Waitress would just disappear. Not worth it. Plus, gondola does NOT take you to the top, only about 3/4 way up. Big disappointment. read more
