They were advertising for line cook and server. Sign on the door lets you know guns are welcomed. The decor says they love our military, police and the American flag. The building is old and in need of repairs. Table was clean, waitress was 100% herself. and doing a good job being the only one. Food was ok, I think grilled sandwiches and fries slightly overcooked. (Maybe this is why they are looking for a new cook) They ran out of coleslaw and waitress did give a discount on the check bc of that. Great lunch here on our way home from Niagara Falls. Friendly service, tasty food and affordable prices! My Dad and I split the turkey wrap and the reuben sandwich, both delicious. My sons each has a burger and fries from the kids menu (which was actually a full-sized burger). Great value and a rustic vibe here. A quick drive off of HWY 81 and worth the visit! After being on the road for hours and no meal, we finally found a diner. "Whitney Point Country Kitchen" was a welcome sight. It's a run down hole in the wall with character. It tells the story of a small community and its residents. Drive carefully over the dirt road parking lot. Once you do you walk into an old style classic diner. They have plenty of table and chairs. The waitress told us to sit anywhere so we grabbed a seat. She offered us coffee and took our order quickly. After a short wait our food came. It was okay. The eggs were good. My brother send the pancakes were really good. The locals were friendly. However, I wouldn't make this a regular even if I was in the area. read more

This place would've been a 0/5 but the waitress (Kris) was great. I stopped here on my way back from Toronto and it was a mess. Not a good sign to walk in and see no one there for dinner but now I see why. Also, not a good sign to hear the microwave going after you order. First of all lets say the people here are all nice and sociable. We stopped in on the way home from Ithaca and were pleasantly surprised. Now we make a point of going here every time we go to Ithaca where our daughter is moving. Oh by the way, all of the food we have eaten here has been delicious. This place was pretty disappointing. I've eaten in every diner in Binghamton/Endicott/JC/Vestal/etc so I wanted something I haven't had yet and Country Kitchen was bottom of the barrel. A lot of people like the bears but I thought the decor was super outdated and not in a cool throwback kind of way, this place seemed really worn in and I got the impression that this place had a lot of heavy smokers in it back when NY allowed that kind of thing. Service wasn't that good either, the guy seemed nice but he wasn't very attentive, and the restaurant wasn't very busy when I was there. as for the food, well I'll start off saying that the bacon was probably the worst I've ever been served at a restaurant. parts of it were burnt and other parts of it were underdone and rubbery. #baconfail the eggs were ok, but I didn't really care for the home fries though, they were definitely underseasoned and underportioned. The pancakes were meh, I think they used a boxed mix, the flavor was ok and they were thick and fluffy but they seemed like they were missing something. I think I remember the coffee being ok. Overall I have no desire to go out of the way to come back here. If you're a traveler on your way to Ithaca, just drive the extra half hour and go to state diner, or if you're on your way to Binghamton then pretty much any diner (aside from Elsie's) is better than this. read more

When my wife and I travel, we prefer to eat at the local places and support the little guy rather than eat at these corporate run restaurants. The Country Kitchen is a fine example of what I am talking about. This is a small family run operation. It isn't much to look at and it certainly does have that American country kitchen flair to it. We hit this place for breakfast and went with omelettes and toast. It was not anything fancy but it sure did hit the spot for these two hungry travelers. I did a sausage and mushroom omelette with home fries and toast. The home fries had been sitting on the grill for way too long but crispy and crunchy home fries are A-Ok for me. The service was very good and if I ever did make it through Whitney Point for breakfast again I would consider this place. I give The Country Kitchen 3 A-OK stars. read more

Cozy, no nonsense joint. PLENTY of country decor, especially stuffed toy bears. I think we were there on an off day. Our server was a bit irritated, but that's his problem. (It was quite busy when we arrived, nearly full capacity - including counter diners.) Several tables around us were lacking service or follow up service, so I'm thinking he was doing his best trying to fill in for someone else. We ordered breakfast. I was going to get hash and eggs. When I asked the server if it was home made hash, he curtly answered NO. Strike One. My wife had eggs, toast and home fries. She ordered a muffin for my daughter. I ordered sauage biscuits and gravy. At this point the place was less than half capacity. Orders came (eventually), you get a LOT of food for a little money! However, our food was luke warm (strike 2) and they warmed up the muffin for my daughter by cutting it in half and grilling it. It was almost burned. The server never checked back on us (or tables around us that ordered ahead of us). So we never had a chance to get anything fixed, drink refills, etc. Strike 3. If I'm invited I might go back there, but we will probably not return on our own. read more

Looking for a quick breakfast on our way out of Ithaca, we stopped into the Country Kitchen. We were delighted to find out that they serve breakfast until 2pm. The lemonade and iced tea were country authentic and delicious. The corned beef hash was out of this world as was the French toast we couldn't resist ordering for the table to share. All in all it was a great stop with friendly service. And contrary to another review, we were able to pay via credit card and appreciated the teddy bear motif. read more

Recently we stopped into the Country Kitchen to drop off my mother to visit a cousin for the weekend, Whitney Point is the half way point for her so we always meet at the Country Kitchen and this time I took my 2 lady Consumers as we do family home care. Well let me tell you these people that work there are so totally awesome and seem to know just what I needed to get the meal so my ladies could eat it, I didn't have to ask for anything special that they need they seemed to know just what they neened and were so patient and caring and prompt. My ladies were the happiest in this resturant more than any i have seen them in. Thank You so much waitresses and all that helped, you are all AWESOME and I think that everyone should know about this and don't forget to tip these women acordingly, they earn it and than some..Oh and the friendly atmosphere is just as awesome as well, felt like we were at home, felt like we knew these people for years..They treat you better than family...JUST SAYING read more
