Decent food. Wasn't expecting them to be out of home fries and hashbrowns for breakfast.

Loved it here! The food was fantastic and super quick. The outside doesn't look like much, but so glad we went in.

Tacos CDMX has the best street-style tacos in the entire Ithaca area, hands down. I moved here…read moreafter 20+ yrs in California where food truck tacos are not only a staple, but an edible art form that is both approachable and cherished. Here, the food is never prepared in an overly curated-for-Instagram-but-empty-inside kind of way, but rather with a focus on simple ingredients prepared with care in a slow-food way that emphasizes their deep, rich flavor. My favorite is the Al pastor taco with pineapple, a combo of guacamole and chipotle salsas, with fried cheese added on top of the diced onions and cilantro. To die for!! And still only $5 each. This afternoon, after eating literally hundreds of their tacos over the last few years, I tried their smash burger. Absolutely outstanding! Might be the best burger in town as well, it's honestly that good. And only $10! A few weeks ago I had a burger from a local restaurant for $20, which seems to be the going rate, and it paled in comparison to their oh!-so-tasty-you-can't-stop-licking-your-fingers burger! And if you ask, they'll customize it for you with a fried egg, or in my case, with lots of extra fried onions. Their torta sandwiches have also garnered a cult following due to their packed ingredients and massive size, still just for $14. If you're lucky, in the warmer months Eduardo might be serving some of his delicious aqua frescas, or even better, some of his incredible lemonade beverages. Sooooo refreshing! The bonus: you get to hang out with these cool and friendly guys Eduardo & Carlos, as well as their friendly staff who work so hard to make your food so delicious. This place is truly an Ithaca treasure! And more good news: they just moved (May 2026) from Press Bay Alley (118 W Green St) to Press Bay Court (114 W Green St), where they now offer plenty of indoor seating, a big improvement over the old place that only had room for a handful of people at a time. Their outdoor seating has grown as well, and the overall ambiance is more festive and fun. Do yourself a favor - go get some of those mouth-watering tacos, and definitely try the smash burger!

With that said I highly believe any taco or burrito needs a great homemade tortilla or it ruins it and this 'mission' tortilla was no exception and made the taco not so pleasant with a sweet factory taste. I saw them cook my ribeye taco and put seasoning on it but it wasn't enough unfortunately. Also they don't have togo containers for the hot sauce which sucks cuz I wanted to try all of them and pour them on at my discretion. It was an alright taco tho and nice workers.

Really slow service and not much flavor in their food…read more The food was mediocre and not worth it when you had to wait 10 minutes to get a water/ to get your order in and then 20 more before you saw a server again when you got your food. That was the last time we saw a server.

I came in and sat at the bar hoping to enjoy a top shelf margarita and a nice lunch. I waited for no less than 20-25 minutes, with servers walking back and forth...the owner(who I verified by asking him) moving about the kitchen. No one stopped to even look in my direction. Finally one of the servers came over and said , "I didn't see you." I was so annoyed at this point I should have walked out...but I stayed, ordered a drink and a taco salad. Here's the thing...the margarita was delicious and the salad was very good. But the service was horrible! I felt ignored and when I tried to engage the owner in conversation he was clearly not wanting to speak to me. Very unfriendly. The second experience was today when I ordered via Door Dash. I wanted the same salad I had at the restaurant when I was there in person a few weeks back. I also ordered some chips and salsa. The order arrived in a decent amount of time, but there was no salsa in the bag. When I called to report this to the restaurant a woman on the other end told me that I could drive to the restaurant and pick up some salsa if I wanted it. I tried to explain that the reason I had ordered my dinner via DoorDash is because I wanted the food delivered to me this evening. She tried to blame DoorDash for the problem but clearly someone at the restaurant had forgotten to put the salsa in the bag. It had nothing to do with DoorDash. I then asked for a refund of the chips and salsa and she refused. Needless to say I will not be going back to this restaurant ever again. The customer service is nonexistent.

Full disclosure, the food's not bad and the guy making it was very friendly. That said, these are tacos so white I'm surprised they don't come slathered in mayonnaise. No Al Pastor. No Barria. No Barbacoa. Legit chorizo comes in a tube that costs like a dollar. Where's that? I ordered a BBQ Pulled Pork Taco thinking it might be Ty's answer to Carnitas, but it was just pulled pork on a tortilla. It was fine, but it wasn't a taco. It was decent pulled pork BBQ on a tortilla. No flavorfully Mexican take on pulled pork BBQ. I can't imagine what's in the Street Corn or Classic Beef, the only tacos masquerading as authentic Mexican food. Greek chicken or falafel? Are you kidding me? Why bother? A Greek chicken taco is called a Souvlaki, and a falafel is, well, a Falafel. Star Mix is right up the street, and if you're looking for a souvlaki or falafel, it's pretty great, and a lot cheaper. And that's my real beef with Ty's. Mediocre white-people-tacos are a common scourge of any college town, but $17 for three tacos? $6 to $6.50 for one? Who's buying these tacos with the regularity to keep this stand in business? Authentic Mexican restaurants around the country - sit-down restaurants with far more overhead - manage to offer guests free chips and salsa. Ty's charges $3 for salsa, and another $5 for the chips. That's like charging $3 for the cigarette and $5 for the light. And as those countless, authentic restaurants have proven, Ty's doesn't need it.
